Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:08am Ken From Hyde Park:

Greetings, Samantha. Bringing in Monday in place of Therese.
Swag For Life Member 12:08am 12539:

Quelle musique!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:10am pacific standard simon:

Works for me.
Avatar 12:13am prison pen pal:

Samantha, I hope you are receiving 'combat duty' for the cross-over time with EmAdeo later. Just kidding, Love you EmAdeo. Smooth sounds to vegetate to Samnatha.
  12:13am P-90:

Hi Samantha! Welcome to the very first shift of the week.
T. left some big shoes to fill (Blahniks, methinks) but your show sounds good already. Onward!
Avatar 12:13am ADM:

WAit. How long have you been on the air? Maybe it's just coincidence or that new spike jonze movie but I feel like this is syncing perfectly with my mindset.
Avatar 12:14am KP:

Sounds great, Samantha
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14am pacific standard simon:

no amEdeo tonight. very suspicious. something going on between those two.
  12:15am P-90:

Reversed Swastika Girls!
Most impressive, young Jedi...
Avatar 12:15am splendid:

P-90 Your're treading in dangerous territory by implying a woman has big feet. Careful :)
Avatar 12:15am Droll:

It's still Sunday here on the west coast. We always flip our Fripp on Sunday evening.
Avatar 12:16am KP:

I agree with ADM. Very synchy
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16am pacific standard simon:

Either way, don't care.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am pacific standard simon:

Should credit to Eno & Fripp.
Avatar 12:17am ottovonbqe:

My robotic love doll and I are enjoying this track too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:17am pacific standard simon:

Or Mutt & Jeff.
  12:18am Steve-O:

Hi fellas. Won't be tuning in tonight but hope you all have fun. =)
  12:18am P-90:

@pss: I' m working on a theory-- just a theory, mind you-- that anEdeo absorbed Therese like a giant amoeba
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am pacific standard simon:

This was one of the LPs I wouldn't get rid of when I culled 2/3.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19am David L.B. is RRN63:

Bowie in Interview in Studio: ...'Shut up Robert ! - Ha! - I always wanted to tell Fripp to shut up !'...
  12:20am P-90:

@pss: good call on the culling
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am pacific standard simon:

@p-90 - I think they're.... SPOONING!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20am Nick the Bard:

Hey, there's nothing suspicious about my basement aside from that weird smell, and that newly covered hole in the wall with the still drying cement, and roulette wheels and...nevermind I said any of that. My basement is full of cats. Yup. Cats.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21am Matt from Springfield:

Hey Samantha!
Spacey rock keeping me tranced tonight, nice set!
Loved your last fill-in as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am pacific standard simon:

Oh Nick... I will never no more stay up that late...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22am David L.B. is RRN63:

...that would be a lot of cats.
...seriously pss - some albums are standouts...
Avatar 12:22am BadGuyZero:

I'm assuming that this is the Samantha that co-hosted several of amEdeo's shows last year.
  12:23am nate:

is robert fripp playing on this everly brothers song too?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23am pacific standard simon:

I'll shut up for this.
  12:23am KP:

Love this Everlys track. All is super
Avatar 12:24am Kurt Gottschalk:

wherez those everliez?
o therez those everliez!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:24am pacific standard simon:

Good question, nate.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25am Matt from Springfield:

"International Feel" is great! The whole album is great!
Avatar 12:26am BadGuyZero:

Kurt Braunohler thinks Todd Rundgren's name sounds like someone vomiting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:26am fleep:

And there's always more...
  12:26am P-90:

No Pussyfooting is indeed about as uncullable as it gets.
...and what a shame we'll never get to hear Fripp w/Everly Bros...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- screw it - Todd's better than most of the human race...
Avatar 12:28am Kurt Gottschalk:

and what does "braunohler" sound like?
Avatar 12:28am BadGuyZero:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am Matt from Springfield:

@fleep: And still more!
@RRN63: Some folks is even whiter than him, some folks is even blacker than him...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...brown-nosing & corn-holing @ the same time...who is that - ??...
  12:29am nate:

you can't have a human race without the new cars
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Matt from Springfield:

@BGZ: I've got the Runds, need to go Braun holing. Back in a minute...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it sounds like what Hitler liked to have his girlfriend do to him...my but this is a late program isn't it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:31am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...New Cars ha...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:32am pacific standard simon:

Anyone recognize the music here? Boy, I do.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:36am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...been four minutes pss: where's the riff from awlready...
Avatar 12:36am earrie:

Lovely transition from dmandl's show, before.
A second, easy-going, wind, here.; Zephyr.
  12:36am P-90:

Ahhh...M from S in the house!
Sehr günstig für Sie unsere Begrüßung der Samantha beitreten, Dude!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37am pacific standard simon:

That one back there was "Kicks" by Lou Reed.
Avatar 12:38am slipadillo:

This music was just outside of my orbit but feels very much like a planet I was seeking out. Rundgren is the last stop of orbit I know before the unknown of all else played tonight by Samantha.
Avatar 12:39am BadGuyZero:

Waitaminute...this isn't the Samantha I was expecting.

Unless the Samantha I was expecting has mastered mimicking human speech.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- among Lou's distinctions - bitchin' classic riffs & obsessive guitartones...& a direct line to my use of the word 'bitchin'' all the time...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Matt from Springfield:

@P-90: Ja wohl! Ich mag die Samantha-Schau, Man!
Avatar 12:41am BadGuyZero:

The Samantha that was on several of amEdeo's shows last year was a text-to-speech program. Or she at least sounded robotic.

This is not the droid I was looking for.
  12:42am P-90:

@BGZ: mebbe it's a Siri- type thingie providing the human speech
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:42am Matt from Springfield:

Lou's tones were obsessive, but awesome!
He was obsessed with a riff, and wins all the listeners of it over, too!
Swag For Life Member 12:42am 12539:

Isn't this the Samantha that Clay Pigeon has briefly spoken to at the end of his show?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:43am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- that's just what I mean - Lou was a great guitarist among the other things he was.
Avatar 12:44am no one but us chickens:

BGZ @Ask Samantha, "What vegetable is in tomato soup?" If she answeres, "I'm sorry, we seem to have a bad connection." Then your're dealing with an AI DJ.
  12:44am P-90:

I do remember that Pigeon show Samantha, definitely human. Or was she?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:44am Matt from Springfield:

@12539: Yes indeedery. She also serves as the board op during pre-recorded shows on Thursday.
  12:49am P-90:

I went to Jersey to visit the station once, but is was all boarded-op. Sorry
Avatar 12:51am living room survivor:

P-90 I think your're confusing hurricane Sandy with Samantha :) No offence Samantha, I'm sure you would make a very nice hurricane.
Avatar 12:51am BadGuyZero:

I've visited the station numerous times. ADVICE: Don't get in the elevator.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:53am Matt from Springfield:

Elevator to Hell!
  12:55am P-90:

Seriously, there's an elevator?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:57am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah! - Roky.
  12:57am koto:

good show! it's almost 3pm here, and usually i'm working. today, i'm having a day off and listening your show. very lucky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

(...*thee* Elevator...)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:58am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...in this case - Pre-Elevator...
  12:59am KP:

This is very impressive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01am pacific standard simon:

Any DJ who plays a bad recording of "Green Fuzz" is OK in my book.
Avatar 1:02am BadGuyZero:

The elevator at WFMU is the scariest thing I have ever been on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:03am fleep:

Is it haunted?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:04am pacific standard simon:

Does it hold fewer than 3 people?
Avatar 1:05am bandaged tape:

Hah, I heard the elevator is prone to wild up and down mood swings.
  1:06am P-90:

@RR: Roky Westlake?
@pss: Is there a "good" recording of Green Fuzz?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08am pacific standard simon:

I said 'bad recording", not 'bad performance'.
Avatar 1:10am BadGuyZero:

The elevator at FMU comfortably holds 4-6 people. It moves at a very slow pace...to the point that you'll probably doubt if it is indeed moving. When it reaches a floor it takes several seconds for the door to open. And by "several seconds" I mean "enough time to plan how you're going to attempt to free yourself from the stuck elevator."
  1:11am P-90:

@ BGZ: Is it one of those old wood-plank-and-cast-iron industrial-revolution-era elevators that jerks when it starts and stops, and makes a sqeeeeeeking noise as it moves?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am pacific standard simon:

Oh shit, dear, now you are making me turn it up.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:12am Matt from Springfield:

Show Biz Kids are makin' movies about themselves /
And they don't give a fuck about anybody else!
Avatar 1:13am Droll:

The WFMU elevator is scary, but it's so worn out and flimsy you know you could tear yourself free in a pinch, so it's less scary than robust elevators. It's also not noisy enough considering how scary it behaves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:13am pacific standard simon:

Turn it up loud!
  1:13am pp:

I swear the chorus on the Dan song are sayin "Google Max Wages"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:14am pacific standard simon:

Denny Diaz!
Avatar 1:14am BadGuyZero:

@P-90. It is not. It has the appearance of any elevator you would expect to encounter in a multi-storey building.
  1:14am nate:

please follow this with "what a fool believes"
  1:14am KP:

I'm sorry I broke the elevator, all right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15am pacific standard simon:

She won't.
  1:15am P-90:

"edited for air" . rilly?
  1:15am nate:

doesn't matter, it's already in my head.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am pacific standard simon:

  1:16am KP:

I can't possibly be enjoying Steely Dan. Samantha you are good at this
Avatar 1:16am Droll:

P-90, Amen, Safe harbor hours!
  1:17am P-90:

"...those funky kicks goin' down in the city..."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18am pacific standard simon:

Dunno whut.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am pacific standard simon:

whutta mess
  1:21am P-90:

@Samantha: Yesssss.... Another true trial-by-fire for an FMU spinner: can you slip a Steely Dan in and not ruin everything? Letter Grade: A+
Avatar 1:25am creamy veneer:

Countdown to Ecstasy is one of my all time favorite album covers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:25am Chop Scott:

Samantha! Great to hear you on the air tonight--Cheers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:27am pacific standard simon:

"Shobiz Kidz" normally includes a link to The Frank Zappa Trust.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:29am pacific standard simon:

Huh. Brian Eno voice!
Swag For Life Member 1:30am 12539:

This is excellent, but I must sleep, so I'll save some for tomorrow. Thanks, Samantha.
  1:30am P-90:

@ pss: tread lightly, now. Gail WILL sue the living shit out of you if you take His name in vain
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:32am pacific standard simon:

Made me laugh -- I'm married to Gail.
  1:33am Ahmad:

Yay one of the greatest songs ever!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34am pacific standard simon:

THIS voice is Jello Biafra if he'd had a British accent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am pacific standard simon:

Not THIS voice.
  1:43am Andy:

I love the song Cattle
  1:45am The Anti-Grunge:

The Chills & Go-Betweens back to back ... awesome
Avatar 1:46am nanantatee:

Wow checkin' out the playlist wish I had tuned in earlier...
Avatar 1:50am nanantatee:

@adm haha i watched "her" the other day, totally. I hope those high waisted pants for dudes don't become popular. They looked like giant old man diapers with legs.
  1:53am P-90:

Backwards 12-string, nice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53am Matt from Springfield:

Oh wow, that was The Bangles! Nice cover.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Matt from Springfield:

Ding Dong! Another instant classic from the New Bin.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am pacific standard simon:

Knowing me, knowing... I -- could do a better cover than that.
  1:56am P-90:

1st noght and she's really showin what she can do-- last few songs , she went all Gaylord on us. Little bit if everything tonight, lovin' it.
Avatar 2:04am Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I think if we raise enough money this time, we should install sound effects in the elevator to induce a more appropriate level of fear.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:05am Matt from Springfield:

Turn up the funding, and turn up the fear! I like!
  2:10am P-90:

Crank that fear to "11"
@kenzo: don't forget the sub-subwoofer
Avatar 2:15am stream in a bottle:

from uncyclopedia.wikia.com Elevators (inaccurately called "lifts" in stupid places), are torture devices invented in 1523 by the Spanish Catholic Inquisitors searching for a more efficient method of "repressing" the Jews, Protestants, and their Satanist in-laws. The 16th century design, although crude by today's standard, set the bar for torture devices to a higher level.[1] Over the years, the original design was modified extensively until it became the modern object of torture it is now. As of today, the elevator has become a staple of the civilized business world, despite numerous attempted sanctions by so-called "peace-keeping" pansies. . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:17am Matt from Springfield:

@siab: Uncyclopedia is always deliriously LOLable! :)
  2:19am P-90:

@siab: I think Dave Emory was talking about that on his show
Avatar 2:19am Eaglossa Dilemma:

This was my first brush with the site. It goes on and on about elevators and their heritage of torture and Eli Whitney.s contributions, etc. crazy ass shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24am Matt from Springfield:

@ED: If they still have the "Kenan and Kel" article up--that's one of my faves from that site (I even saved an earlier version that was better than a current version of that!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25am Matt from Springfield:

Thought this was Arthur Russell! I like his style.
  2:31am P-90:

Oh yeah.
Avatar 2:40am potty in my pantry:

Cory Doctrow on BoingBoing links to extended article by Jeffrey Wasserstromhas interesting piece with video on the global reach of Hotel California. Video is cover with Chinese instruments.
  2:42am P-90:

@ Matt: "Kenan and Kel" is gone, but there's a Kenan Thompson entry, kinda cute, I suspect not as good as the original entry you referred to
Avatar 2:44am pickled oak:

I found only the Kenan entry too.
  2:45am P-90:

@Whodat: Cory D. Is very smart, always into something cool
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45am Matt from Springfield:

Aw man!
It was a good'un though! I'm scanning now for it...
Avatar 2:46am Mohawk hot melt:

Yes, I believe he's (Cory) authored several books as well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48am Matt from Springfield:

AWWW YEAH! Publicly linked cache available! :)
Avatar 2:51am Madman Marauder on a Moped:

@Matt Thanks man. That's some seriously silly shit.
  2:55am P-90:

@Matt: Danke ihnen sehr! Heading there now, Samantha soundtrack still kickin'

@ Whodoo: If you're into science fiction, you might wanna check Doctorow's "Little Brother", it's pretty state-of-the-art
Avatar 2:56am heretic from Effigy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57am Matt from Springfield:
