Listener comments!

  9:07pm pete:

Was Thine Eyes the track that was on before this one?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10pm jmd:

Student Teachers reminded me of The Monochrome Set a bit. Loved it! Thanks, Pseu!
Avatar 9:14pm Lunafan:

Fact: Bob Pollard is drinking somewhere right now.
  9:17pm JES:

What a coincidence! So am I (drinking) and probably 90% of the listening audience. Not that that's a bad thing...
Avatar 9:18pm Lunafan:

Right there with you, JES. I'm having cheap red wine. You?
Avatar 9:23pm Fernando M P:

Hey Pseu! Hey everybody!
  9:25pm JES:

My wife and I are having a relatively cheap French white wine (like, $10) that we started while cooking dinner and will probably finish before bedtime. The kids may have to put themselves to bed tonight.
Avatar 9:26pm Lunafan:

It's about time they learned, JES. ;-) Enjoy!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27pm jmd:

WWBPBD! What Would Bob Pollard Be Drinking?
Avatar 9:28pm Lunafan:

Anything he can get his hands on...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Ken From Hyde Park:

As I started driving home after work tonight, I noticed my trip odometer read 90.1 miles. I tried to look at both the instrument panel and the radio display at the same time. It's hard to look at two things at once, I found.
Avatar 9:29pm Pseu Braun:

I big WTF to you all.
Avatar 9:31pm Lunafan:

Wonderful Tune Fabricator. That's you Pseu!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm jmd:

@Lunafan: good one.
Avatar 9:34pm Lunafan:

Thanks, jmd!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I horked down a 3-egg omelet, with cheese and leftover taco meat, for supper. Washed it down with orange juice. Strawberry ice cream & banana for dessert.
  9:44pm mike east:

Pizza and rice balls for me. Pellegino cranberry and lemon to drink
  9:47pm mike east:

And good evening everyone. I thought this was a Facebook only show. Are comments new?
Avatar 9:49pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

mike east: It was just a dream
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Fuzzy:

Hot and Sour soup and a Tina's Spicy Beef and Bean burrito -- sure beats the hell out of a Zagnut!
Avatar 9:49pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Ken From Hyde Park: I'm happy you survived that experiment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Those eggs aren't going to use themselves up!
  9:53pm mike east:

You kens really let freedman down on 7sd this week. Andy got way more Andy's to call in

Oh I'm registered, but I don't think u can sign in on the app yet. I'm mobile
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@mike east - I really wanted to listen and call in, but I had some family commitments.
  9:58pm mike east:

That is an acceptable excuse
Avatar 9:58pm Pseu Braun:

Can anyone else please verify what Mike is saying about the WFMU app and not being able to sign in? This is the first I've ever heard of it.
  9:59pm P-90:

@ you guys: WHY is it always on the Friday night-into-Saturday morning comments boards that these epic conversations about food and eating happen, and being very suggestible where food is concerned, I wind up with gnawing cravings for burritos or Zagnuts or whatever else I don't have on hand? What is it about this particular time of the week? Jeez. It IS a repeating pattern....
Avatar 10:00pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

You cannot sign in when posting comments from the iPhone or Android apps.

I may be wrong. I just got this phone yesterday and I'm lucky I figured out how to make a phone call on it

  10:04pm Christie:

Sounds like Pseu needs a hug
Avatar 10:05pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

Pseu, we'll talk off list!

P-90: I have an interest in creating a special food-only comments room because it happens all the time and I always love it.
  10:06pm Longtime Listener:

@kenzo you might consider an iPad version.
  10:06pm P-90:

and you still can't rotate the app display on your screen, if you're working on a tablet in the landscape config beacause you're typing, you have to turn the device and any keyboards, etc. that are attached to it on its side to address the app control panel. Or turn your head(s) and look at it sideways. Let me be the first to acknowledge that this is a relatively minor problem...end of rant.
Avatar 10:06pm Pseu Braun:

  10:07pm Longtime Listener:

It's a fine app I use it all the time. But it would be nice to have the "share" feature
Avatar 10:08pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I'm only a piece of the puzzle when it comes to WFMU's phone apps.

Give kenzo a break! He's only human!? or is he..?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

You're going to need a Gandalf modem to get them machines onto the internet.
Avatar 10:19pm Pseu Braun:

Even through THE JOKEY SONGS? Thanks!
  10:20pm ?:

Is this the original or just a 45 at 33 1/3?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21pm Fuzzy:

Sounds like both, with slowed turntable to boot.
  10:22pm P-90:

#kenzo: if there was a dedicated food-topic room, I would compulsively check it out, and wind up being unable to think about anything but the goodies being mentioned. I know it happens often, but there IS something about late Fri. eve into wee hours Sat, there's always a lot if food talk. It starts innocently enough with cries of "pizza!", and by the time Bill Mac is on there's talk about sirloin this and shrimp scampi that. And baklava and knishes etc. And Revolution Rabbit's favorite Cheetos pie recipe...
  10:23pm j-No:

If I read you correctly, by playing a massively popular song at slow speed, you are sending a coded message to your listeners that your intent is to subvert bourgeois culture by attacking one of it's sacred symbols.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Tome:

.....does the Snoopy Dance to the Coffee Pot....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:26pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@P-90 - Plus, they figured out that drinking diet soda makes you eat more.
  10:26pm jef g.:

I'm inside of your fish tank.... mountain woman
Avatar 10:27pm Pseu Braun:

I have no interest in subverting bourgeois culture, what am I, 13 years old? If the song walks like a duck, then etc.
Avatar 10:28pm EzSezz:

America. Wow. And WOW!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Santos L Halper:

But does Stevie Nicks walk like a duck? Only at 33 1/3
  10:29pm Jett Brando:

P-90 Is your name in any way related to guitar pickups?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29pm Barkevious Shabazz:

Pass me the ick cure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Irwin:

In the 1980s there was a 45 by Nancy Sinatra called "Kinky Love." Played at 33-1/3 it sounded like Spandau Ballet.
  10:34pm Bourgeois Culture:

I'm contentedly getting all the pleasure I'm entitled to from Pseu's lovely program. i certainly don't feel "subverted" in the least, thank you.
Avatar 10:37pm Murph 37:

Can't stop staring at my shoes
  10:38pm Jett Brando:

What I love about this particular program is that Pseu is an equal opportunity hook pimp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I like 45s where they're way off center. The music speeds up & slows down as the record spins.
  10:40pm j-No:

Ken: only on belt-driven tts.
  10:45pm P-90:

@Jett Brando: Yep, and is your name related to Joan and/or Marlon?
"hook pimp": two words I've seen and heard many thousands of times in my life, but never before side-by-side, ever. Jolly good.
  10:47pm JakeGould:

Hi all!!!!
  10:48pm j-No:

Avatar 10:49pm Lunafan:

I prefer Neil Outtes
  10:49pm V Priceless:

The Move and Neil Innes back to back? I believe I've landed in the right place!
  10:49pm JakeGould:

This song is oddly retiredly comforting.
  10:50pm j-No:

Fast, easy and personalized - look out for Pseu's new Hooked Things, coming soon.
  10:50pm JakeGould:

I meant to say RETARDED comforting.
  10:51pm P-90:

Not Jett Travolta, right? Or Marlon Wayans, Marlon Jackson, or Marlon Feinberg who works the night shift at the newspaper stand at 79th and broadway?
  10:51pm j-No:

I preferred 'retiredly'. I'm stealing it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Mike Sin:

re: Move BBC sessions
When I snagged that CD back in the '90s, I was glad to see it filled with a lot of covers that they never cut in the studio (they didn't need to, really). The version of "Goin' Back" (taken from the Byrds) was particularly interesting.
Avatar 10:53pm Pseu Braun:

Help me, Mike Sin!
  10:54pm j-No:

Mike, are you at all familiar with the '80s L.A. metal band SIN? Their business cars were red and black books of matches imprinted with The Holy Bible.
  10:55pm j-No:

...not to mention their cards.
Avatar 10:55pm Pseu Braun:

J-No are you familiar with SIN 34, all girl Crass-type band from the NYHC scene of the 80's?
  10:58pm j-No:

re: SIN 34. Not as familiar as I would have like to be.
  11:00pm Alan:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:06pm Ken From Hyde Park:

My favourite British spelling is houspitality.
  11:07pm j-No:

You're wrong.
  11:09pm Alan:

how would you spelt hospitality
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:09pm Mike Sin:

re: Wyatt '68 release
Gotta check --- I think Hendrix is on a track or two.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:11pm Santos L Halper:

Thanks for the gabriel recap. I was going to remind you, but...you were on a roll.
That was a great band fer sure
  11:11pm P-90:

I think I remember SIN from LA in the 80's when I was in high school there. I didn' t see them myself but they played clubs like the Troubador on the Sunset Strip on long bills of similar bands. Opened once for Odin, maybe. Had friends more into that scene than I was...

But I do remember when Van Halen was a local band that stuck flyers for their shows under your windshield wipers in Hollywood parking lots.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:22pm Santos L Halper:

Whatever that last track was, i liked it. This too of course
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25pm eastvanhalen:

And this too. Good evening, Pseu, good evening all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:26pm Santos L Halper:

Hmm, must've fallen into the playlist vortex. Or washed away by the rain on either side
Avatar 11:27pm Pseu Braun:

I'm here with you Santos. I can see my own breath.
  11:27pm Alan:

being a good show tonight, all the tracks have been foot stomping
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:28pm Mike East:

Avatar 11:56pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

WFMU true believers: The playlists will have a bit of downtime beginning at midnight (as soon as Pseu's show ends), but everything should be back about 10 minutes later, at which point you'll find the Noise and Syrup playlist link on the homepage!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:35pm Parq:

Last Friday night was movie night at La Casa Parq, but I caught up on the archives. Dug the segue from Gabriel to Wyatt. Oh, and the retooled Fleetwood reminded me of an old late-70s gag that involved playing the LP track of Atlanta Rhythm Section's "Imaginary Lover" at 45 and noting that the results sounded like a semi-uptempo cover by Stevie Nicks.
