Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

"Vox pops" = "man on the street" interviews.
From vox populi, "voice of the people". Monty Python street segments were called vox pops.

common law says if you live together for more than a year you're married. you would think a paralegal would know that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Matt from Springfield:

NJ politicians always did shit like this, and it was always illegal, but it's because of staffers EMAIL messages that there's now proof of illegal actions and the media can make a big deal about it. Yet people still don't seem to realize that anything digital/on the Internet NEVER goes away!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm common:

Christie was a US Attorney; in general, ALL US Attorneys tend to be political hacks looking for the next opportunity, in Congress/Governor/Attorney General/Federal appointee. Always a scummy touch to it.

Not to say Asst US Attorneys are all that bad--there are many more of them, and they often become judges and private attorneys of upstanding character.
Avatar 6:20pm TDK60:

Good riddance to Bloomberg.
Avatar 6:20pm glenn:

Christy's a non-issue for me. How about the do-nothing congress? Ross Perot warned us of the bi-partisan gridlock and free trade agreements sucking away american jobs.

free trade is a disaster for everybody. the only way to bring jobs back from china and india, and it will never happen, is to put such punishing tariffs on imported goods that it isn't economically viable to make things there anymore.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Libertarianism has become no more than a way for the RightWing to get in the back door disguised as advocates for Personal Liberties. We are a Society - the second you walk out your front door - before that in fact. If you take away all the Government Rules - what happens is only the people w/ Money & Power (& aren't they about the same?) get the Liberty to do whatever they want.
...I'm not sure what there is to be Optimistic about Politically; they're talking the Dems could lose Congress entirely...

  6:29pm aam:

maybe one day robots and computers will do all of our work for us and then we'll throw politics in the garbage
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Matt from Springfield:

"Free trade" that's actually "free" wouldn't be so much of a problem, and would do some good as well. The problem with the 90s-present/NAFTA-after Free Trade Agreements is that they have arbitration panels called "Investor-State Dispute Settlements"--effectively it makes well-funded multinational corporations sovereign, and allows them to sue and get out of democratic laws. A lot of people don't know about this aspect of modern "free" trade:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm common:

n the 1992 Presidential Debates, the participants were William Jefferson Clinton, George Herbert Walker Bush, and H. Ross Perot, the third party (Reform) candidate.

This clip is memorable because Ross Perot used the phrase "giant sucking sound" when referring to the NAFTA deal, and many would argue that in 2010, he has been proven to be correct on this issue.

@Yoko: Do you still do spinal crackings?..
Avatar 6:33pm glenn:

no worries, guys. it seems ted cruz is still a canuck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Matt from Springfield:

@glenn: Cruz is a crypto-health care advocate, Canadian style. At least people are speculating that due to his highly counterproductive efforts to stop the ACA and help Repubs.

And when the Right criticizes him for that, he just screams that *they* are working for Obama trying to undermine him! If I was a clandestine infiltrator I would use that defense!

Also, he may be stupid. That's a possibility, too.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

@RRN63: Emma Goldman said that "if voting really changed anything, they would outlaw it". Which feels true, and yet..why do they work so hard to suppress the vote, if it *really* doesn't matter?...
