Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:08pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...could I be the only one thinking ? - what a couple of totally absurd - but really great!! - tracks...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09pm efd:

Hi everyone, thanks for tuning in! I have to confess that I inadvertently cued up the wrong Trevor Rabin track! Maybe I'll play the one I meant to play later on, we'll see.
Avatar 9:10pm Holly in NC:

Bollock Brothers. Oh, yes. Fake Goth girl here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hello Cheri, Loetta, RRN63, ME, everyone!
Love Vex Ruffin. Have to walk dogs, back asap - drat, missing Justin Velor
Avatar 9:18pm Loretta:

very interesting set Evan...... kinda mesmerizing.
  9:18pm sweet cheri:

evan, i've been meaning to talk to you about this for a while- i think nick gilder had only one hit.
  9:19pm sweet cheri:

greetings danne.
  9:19pm LovecraftDude888:

Gosh, I'll take ANY goth girl right now!
  9:20pm LovecraftDude888:

Sorry guys, Scott B. has morphed into LovecraftDude....it had to happen
Avatar 9:21pm Danne D:

hiya cheri, looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the elections that just finished up
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah - good example of dancey & electronic not being boring...that's supposed to be a compliment
...Lovecraft was awesome !
...They say in the Elections urban people went for practical & the Tea Party suffered. Didn't pay enuff attention to the News...
  9:24pm LovecraftDude888:

I'm one of the biggest HPL nuts ever, got into that whole
scene in the early 80s as a young schoolboy, hooked up with
Bob price of Crypt of Cthulhu mag. and stuff...rest is horror
history. Also a massive book collector of course.

  9:24pm LovecraftDude888:

sorry for repeat post! urgh! The Little People got me...
  9:26pm PJ:

Before the vocals kicked in on this Free Fall song, I thought it was some long lost Who song.
  9:26pm LovecraftDude888:

I think The Dickies were playing on LI tonight but I couldn't be there various reasons, alas. Why LI, I dunno. I haven't seen them since mid 1990s.
  9:29pm LovecraftDude888:

Evan, I saw YES on the 90125 tour at Nassau freakin Coliseum,
what was that 1984? Damned good show. With Trevor
Rabin and such. Does anybody recall the fuss over the price
of that album when it came out? People balked at the premium price for it. I bough the tape.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Yes PJ - I have suspected they have heard of TheWh♂ @ some point ! - which always gets *my* attention; I wonder what they're like live...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32pm Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

Yo peeps!
Avatar 9:33pm Danne D:

Evan "Prog" Davies kicking off the show with a member of Yes.

Elwyn :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33pm pacific standard simon:

Cass Elliot cover? Aw hell naw! John Hartford cover!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm efd:

He wasn't a member of Yes when he recorded that LPs so it doesn't count! :D

LovecraftDude, I do remember that - wasn't it the first 8.98 list or something?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:34pm pacific standard simon:

That aside, good evening Funkman and Rabble.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Alex of Chicago:

Hey Evan. Remember to play Doug Tuttle.
  9:35pm LovecraftDude888:

yeah yeah! A big fuss in the press for some reason. I just grinned and bore it and bought my stupid cassette copy out at Bergen or Paramus Park Mall or whatever it was that particular weekend.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:36pm Mike East:

@efd: adam warrock link not linking...extra r I think
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39pm Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

@Danne D! How are you? I've been trying to do too much by exercising lots and staying up late playing Grand Theft Auto!
  9:42pm joe:

'Ello folks
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Mike East:

Adam Warrock's got James Urbaniak on his new record - cool!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

Yo joe!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm pacific standard simon:

Hey, Evan, sorry if my Hartford boosterism came across as rude -- not intended as a put-down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm efd:

haha, no worries pss - I may have slightly exaggerated your reaction for possible comedic effect. I appreciate you pointing that out.

Mike East, fixed the link - thanks for the heads up.
Avatar 9:46pm tomB:

Thought you meant HPL, the band. As for the original, just read The Mountains of Madness in Oates' collection. the intense and compelling mood makes me overlook the weak points--maybe that's what HPL the band was after.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47pm Uncle Michael:

Damn...I missed the earthquake.
  9:49pm sweet cheri:

evan, let me tell you wednesdays and sunday nights are the best nights of the week, cause of you, monica & dave mandl!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:49pm Uncle Michael:

My sleeping bag is rolled up and stashed behind Cass Elliot's couch.
  9:50pm LovecraftDude888:

I confess I still don't know HPL the band as well as I should, need to go rectify that and soon! Thanks for reminding me! I have the Oates' collection indeed. However, I recommend S.T. Joshi's Penguin annotated Lovecrafts much more for various reasons. I re-read ATMOM last year and it had been a while, still a thrilling novella. Some of HPL doesn't hold up for me
any longer but that did. Too bad they killed the movie.
  9:51pm LovecraftDude888:

Was gonna say I recall YES doing Tempus Fugit live...that was cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53pm Uncle Michael:

HPL was quite a fine Chicago psychedelic band. Trademark, dual lead vocals...
  9:56pm LovecraftDude888:

Right, have heard some of their stuff. Need to go get those CDs for sure. I always wondered if The Fixx Shuttered Room was sort of named after that horrible Derleth story one of his "Lovecraft" tales that was not HPL! Awful. But good Fixx album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57pm Mike East:

I recently picked up a Dave Edmunds record at a bookstore in Montclair for about 3 bucks....cuz I heard him on this program :)
  9:58pm LovecraftDude888:

Montclair Book Center? I have a Yelp review of it...er, was a better shop in Passaic and then 1990s Montclair...but it's cool. I was there two yrs. ago again.
  9:58pm LovecraftDude888:

actually dammit, reminding me I need to go buy that old Rhino
Dave Edmunds box set!! Rats....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm Uncle Michael:

efd, I'm doing a fill-in on Tuesday for Jesse Kaminsky and it's a bit of a special and you're partly to blame for it. You went an posted that Jeff Wayne thing on FB.
Avatar 10:00pm tomB:

Have you all ever heard Dave Edmunds brother? Seriously, he has at least one LP.
  10:00pm Adam:

For years now, I turn my radio on once or twice at night during the week, and it seems I somehow manage to always do it and hear the Evan funk Davies theme music starting up.
  10:01pm Adam:

It's mystical
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm Mike East:

I think so, Lovecraft dude. Its on Glenridge off Bloomfield. They ok the first few times you scour the place, but its not like they get anything new in. Picked up some Hoodoo Gurus there, cheap. I usually go there when I visit a friend that lives right down the street.
  10:05pm LovecraftDude888:

I hadn't been there in ages until two years back. I used to go to Passaic Book Center the predecessor to Montclair, THAT was like, one of the greatest bookstores ever. Was right down the street from my dad's old apt. at that point. I mentioned that to The Smithereens a while ago and Dennis Diken recalled the Passaic one fondly!!
Avatar 10:06pm Danne D:

:) The Silent Thank You for Pledging to the Silent Fundraiswer Funrsider ;)
  10:13pm JT:

Greetings from the Frozen Tundra of northeastern Wisconsin. Nice to hear our local boy, Rev. Norb, while I just happened to be "tuned in" tonight.
  10:13pm sweet cheri:

like i said earlier evan i always lok forward to wednesdays & sunday nights..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:15pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I downloaded the new Android app onto my daughter's phone. The old app would go into buffering mode pretty often. We'll see if the new version works better. That was for live streaming. It would play archives without any problems.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:18pm efd:

Hi Ken, hopefully the new one will solve that buffering problem - thanks for checking it out!

Thanks for the kind words, Cheri.

JT, I love coincidences like that!

Thanks to one and all (including you lurkers!) for listening tonight!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:20pm efd:

UM, sounds like a delayed Halloween party to me!
Swag For Life Member 10:20pm 12539:

Who are you calling a lurker?
  10:22pm LovecraftDude888:

at the threshold.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm Uncle Michael:

I recognize this song.
Avatar 10:23pm Holly in NC:

Back! Doug Tuttle track is great.
Anxiously awaiting new Gap Dream lp. EFD, just downloaded the beyond stellar Gap Dream live set from the FMA, many thanks to you, the band, WFMU, FMA, anyone else responsible.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm Uncle Michael:

Evan, I'm putting together a rock opera/concept album thing and Jeff Wayne will be represented.
  10:23pm sweet cheri:

evan if you feel like it, want to talk about nick gilder?
  10:24pm LovecraftDude888:

man, I somehow got email from the guy from The Monroes the keyboard guy last month..so surreal. All the people tell me so...etc.
  10:24pm LovecraftDude888:

Man, can we hear some Dwight Twilley? Somebody to Love....he's my personal neo-70s to 80s almost-hitmaker pop sensation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:28pm Uncle Michael:

He made a hit!
Avatar 10:29pm Holly in NC:

I LOVE The Big Believe, sonically so very Game Theoryish. efd, when will the 7'' be available?
  10:29pm LovecraftDude888:

Barely. "Girls" that song kinda sucked. I'm on Fire was good though but that was 70s Dwight. Anyway....RIP Faye Hunter, that shit sucked.
  10:30pm LovecraftDude888:

I see Sara Romweber and Dex are putting out albums and touring, I wanna see them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:32pm Uncle Michael:

I was thinking of "I'm On Fire" as his hit.
  10:33pm patro:

I saw Fools Face play at my university in 1980. They played 'Time Warp' from Rocky Horror Picture Show.
  10:33pm david from ks:

,,,Bollock Brother`s track "The Bunker",, lyrics of the past and hopefully not the future. Words to ponder when told by A.Hitlers secretary the late Gertaude Traudle Junge`s filmed interview.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Uncle Michael:

Girls...you're right about that one. I'd forgotten it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33pm Uncle Michael:

@patro: Where was that?
  10:34pm Trouble In Mind:

FOOLS FACE! - "Won't Make it Hard For You" is the jam! It sounds like Shoes!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:34pm Uncle Michael:

Hello david from ks...from Uncle Michael from ks.
  10:34pm patro:

Tulsa University. There was a large contingent of students from Springfield.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm Uncle Michael:

Yeah, when I played the flexi I mentioned that they seemed to open every third "new wave" show in the region for a while.
  10:35pm LovecraftDude888:

yeah Girls was kinda wack. Was I'm On Fire that big of a hit? I was so young then I have no clue. I didn't hear Dwight Twilley till MTV days 1983 etc. Had no idea until then and then he faded out again just as fast. wasn't DTwilley a Tulsa dude?
Avatar 10:36pm Holly in NC:

Hi trouble In Mind - psyched for Doug Tuttle!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36pm Uncle Michael:

Not big...big enough that I bought the LP. Big enough to be on Rhino's "Have A Nice Day" collection.
  10:38pm patro:

Hey Uncle Michael. I think a friend of college back then was from Springfield and his older brother produced the Fools Face first record. His last name was Clary, don't remember his first name.
  10:38pm LovecraftDude888:

Ah, ok. Poor Dwight never quite hit the bigtime. having to compete with Missing persons and friggin Def Leppard on MTV. Yikes.
  10:38pm Trouble In Mind:

Hey Holly! SO ARE WE
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39pm Uncle Michael:

Dwight and Phil Seymour were both pretty photogenic. They shoulda been able to hold their own.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:40pm Uncle Michael:

I probably owned the album, patro. I may have read the album credits once!
  10:43pm sweet cheri:

so i guess you don't want to talk about nick gilder, huh evan?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:45pm Uncle Michael:

I'd like to know what all the former members of Sweeney Todd are up to these days.
Avatar 10:48pm Holly in NC:

efd, thank you for reminding me to DL Cosmonauts set from FMA also.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:48pm efd:

cheri, I thought you were the one with the Nick Gilder theory.
  10:48pm LovecraftDude888:

I can't believe Loop Lounge is still open. I never even got to go there years ago. Anyone been there recently? the Passaic bar.
  10:49pm LovecraftDude888:

I can see it now: The Nick Gilder/Ian Gomm/Dwight Twilley Greenwood Press critical anthology....coming soon! List price hc $400! cheap!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm efd:

I like the version of "What Me Worry" that they did in that session better than the one on the album!
  10:51pm LovecraftDude888:

btw hearing Miriam Linna last night was keen! I have to buy her books..I had no idea she was doing pulp reprints etc!? No idea.
Avatar 10:51pm Holly in NC:

@lovecraftdude - Don't forget Donnie Iris.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:52pm Uncle Michael:

That's giving Donnie Iris a lot of credit.
  10:52pm Trouble In Mind:

DUDES wait until you hear Morgan's LP... HOLY SMOKES... so great.
  10:53pm LovecraftDude888:

Barely know Donnie Iris but Wild Cherry of course I recall. What became of the great immortals Pablo Cruise? God help us...
Avatar 10:54pm Holly in NC:

Oooh, Trouble In Mind, I am digging Morgan Delt.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:54pm efd:

Hey, don't be dissing Donnie Iris on my playlist!
Avatar 10:54pm Holly in NC:

@UM - efd does give Donnie Iris a lot of credit ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:56pm Uncle Michael:

Avatar 10:57pm Holly in NC:

oops, efd mounted his own Donnie defense before I could finish typing, plus I think I'm listening on delay. Sorry.
  10:59pm LovecraftDude888:

I just barely know his stuff. Wild Cherry they had some huge hits I believe. I tell anybody I know to this day about the band Winter Hours, almost nobody knows who they are.
Avatar 11:01pm Holly in NC:

@Lovecraftdude - a lot of people here know Winter Hous, you are in the right place. Hyacinth Girl a classic, so good.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:01pm Uncle Michael:

I'm over my Red Sox good will since Lucchino got in the way of the Cubs interviewing Luvullo.
  11:02pm LovecraftDude888:

Holly... yeah FMU thank goodness seems a bastion of Winter Hours fans and folks who know/knew them. My friend Dina did a WH web site for awhile but I think she retired doing it a while back.
  11:09pm LovecraftDude888:

hate roller derby....liked Rollerball though.
  11:10pm sweet cheri:

  11:12pm sweet cheri:

  11:13pm LovecraftDude888:

I was born 68 so I was more into Godzilla films on TV a bit later on! don't recall any roller derby. hey UM....do you recall some stupid TV show the Beach Girls? Was a total alternate Beach Boys ripoff? I have some vague memory of it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:20pm Uncle Michael:

Nope, I missed out on that.
  11:21pm LovecraftDude888:

my back is killing me, better sign off soon....thanks Evan for kool show....night all! I couldn't find any ref. to Beach Girls but i swear there was some stupid TV show like that around 71 to 72 maybe. I think it was shortlived. Ia Cthulhu!

The new Android app has been happily playing for about an hour now with no problem. I'd say its performance has improved. Will need to take it outside at some point and see how it does when it's not connected to the house wireless router.
