Been a long time Bill, since I've heard you live. Looking forward to the zounds. (still got 2 hours of cleaning to do).
Avatar 3:08am Bill Mac:

Morning NGH! Singles Going Steady tonite, so there'll be MANY songs played in the usual amount of time. Heyoooo everybody!
Avatar 3:09am northguineahills:

There's a kids store/boutique called Jambalaya on Atlantic Ave(Brooklyn). It got my hopes up for decent cuisine that is so lacking from Metro Tech.
Avatar 3:10am Looms:

Hello Bill & NGH!
Avatar 3:11am northguineahills:

Wow, both Looms and I are still up. Howdy!
Avatar 3:12am Looms:

Ha ha, no I'm waking up. It's 9:12 AM here.
Avatar 3:13am Bill Mac:

@NGH Is Jambalaya also a foodery?
Avatar 3:13am Bill Mac:

Yeah, Looms likes to rub the breakfast thing in my face a little bit... what's for eats this morning?
  3:14am Michael and Birgit:

... away for a while, but : Good Morning Bill and all you Folks from Cologne.
Avatar 3:14am Looms:

coffee and pancakes.
Avatar 3:15am northguineahills:

Looms, You're usually around during my work day. I'm up late cleaning. The gf got some floor cleaner called 'Fabulosa', that has a lavender fragrance. I need to open the windows , but it's 43F/5C. I thought she hated 99 cent store crap, especially in espanol (she's mexican).
  3:15am Michael and Birgit:

We also have coffee and some Bread with cheese...
Avatar 3:15am Bill Mac:

M & B!!!! It's 1962 radio at the moment folks.
  3:17am Michael and Birgit:

I´m born 1964, should call my mother for listening...
Avatar 3:18am northguineahills:

@ Bill Mac: I wish, it's a culinary desert around my office (downtown Brooklyn). If I walk 15 mins, there is an awesome Mom & dawta (SIC) Jamaican place, and a passable Vietnamese place on Atlantic Ave. I almost ran to the store when I saw 'Jambalaya' until I saw the lack of advertisement of edibles.
Avatar 3:20am Looms:

Hi Michael & Birgit (I worked in Cologne for 6 months last century, loved the city).
NGH, don't catch a cold!
Avatar 3:23am northguineahills:

Emergency cleaning b/c I missed 3 days of work w/ the flu, and my gf has been in Mexico for the last 3 weeks getting her visa (while chilling w/ friends in the Yucatan, must suck), and she gets back manana.
  3:23am Michael and Birgit:

Hey Looms.. you discovered the Rose Club ? We went to see Lydia Lunch there 2 Weeks ago. Big sexy Noise...
Avatar 3:24am northguineahills:

darn, was curious about the merv griffin tune. I was in the other room. Will hit the archive.
Avatar 3:25am northguineahills:

My friend (and former WFMU dj), Jason lives in Cologne.
Avatar 3:26am Bill Mac:

I look at the bio on Merv while the song was playing. I expected it to be a Jewish song, but it was irish...
Avatar 3:27am Brian in UK:

Hey Bill, ngh! Looms, M&B. Plan you comfort breaks carefully Bill!
Ngh fabulosa sounds like camp English humour. Hope your gf brings you some mezcal back.
Avatar 3:28am Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Bill Mac, and all. Don't usually get a chance to hear you, glad I didn't miss some of these gems. Merv Griffin!
Avatar 3:29am Bill Mac:

Brian & Sem! What up?! Singles Going Steady means I spent 15 bucks on 60 singles that you and I need to listen to! Campness reigns sooopreem!
Avatar 3:30am Looms:

@Michael and Birgit: nope, I don't remember this venue. Did it exist in 1992?
Avatar 3:30am Brian in UK:

Commenting on mobile, PC is sick, got to walk mutley.
  3:33am Michael and Birgit:

@ Looms ,Yes, it`s near the Luxor Club. My favorite Gig there was Cosmic Psychos and Godflesh.
Avatar 3:33am northguineahills:

@Brian: as you'd expect, that's one of the items I asked her to get. What can't fit in the suitcase, is being shipped northward. Quite astute, Brian in UK, you know I love my mezcal, and hard it is to find good mezcal stateside, even in NYC.
Avatar 3:34am Sem Chumbo:

Grew up listening to a 50,000 watt, block programmed station: this show might have been heard Sunday evenings between 6 and 8. Long ago and far away.
Avatar 3:37am Bill Mac:

Thanks to KP for again upping his pledge!! Thanks to Dave and also Martyn. Much appreciated!!!
  3:38am Martyn:

Slàinte mhath Bill (and all).
Avatar 3:40am Jay/London:

hey its saturday already Zzzzzero can do Singles
Avatar 3:43am northguineahills:

Finally, it's much warmer in London then NYC. (most of the winter will reflect this fact)
Avatar 3:44am Looms:

aaah, Godflesh... They were stunning.

Hello Brian, Sem, Jay, Martyn and everyone.
Avatar 3:44am northguineahills:

Salut!, Martyn!
Avatar 3:45am northguineahills:

(I do have glenmorangie as backup, until the kitchen floor dries)
Avatar 3:45am Sem Chumbo:

Hey, Martyn.Cén chaoi a Tá gach rud in Éirinn sa lá atá inniu?
Looms, hiya.
Avatar 3:47am Jay/London:

@ northguineahills it's been warm and sunny last few days .. but they say storm is on it's way with 90 mph winds but i do not believe it hi looms !
Avatar 3:47am Bill Mac:

Gaelic? Hey Jay!!!
Avatar 3:48am northguineahills:

Just wen through a 1952 Alan Lomax recording of Scottish Gaelic (mostly vocal) recordings. The Irish Gaelic recordings sound Irish, but these Highland recordings almost sounded native American. Great stuff. research.culturalequity.org...
Avatar 3:50am Jay/London:

this is a well beloved record me thinks
Avatar 3:50am northguineahills:

It was nice and warm/mild until our Wednesday night. Had to bring my rooftop/fire escape garden inside the last two nights. I think it will hover around 4C tonight, so, I won't have to do that chore tonight.
Avatar 3:51am Bill Mac:

Only $104 from the $1000 mark. If you have some spare change burning a hole in your pocket send it this way. Click on the pledge widget at the top of my playlist page.
Avatar 3:52am Bill Mac:

@NGH:Is this something you can listen to directly from the website?
Avatar 3:52am northguineahills:

addendum: All of the Lomax recordings are now streamable as they are digitized.
Avatar 3:52am Sem Chumbo:

Here in Nova Scotia we have College devoted to the preservation of (Highlands) Gaelic. I'm pretty ignorant of the difference between that language and the Irish variant.
Avatar 3:52am Jay/London:

I would give more Bill if I could
Avatar 3:53am northguineahills:

Yes, go to the Sound Recordings, pick a recording session, keep navigating. It's streamed, so no downloading yet.
Avatar 3:54am Bill Mac:

@NGH Pretty awesome, I'll need to check
Avatar 3:54am Bill Mac:

@jay No worries Jay... you gotta heart!
Avatar 3:55am Bill Mac:

Nova Scotia - now there's a place I wouldn't mind visiting.
Avatar 3:58am Sem Chumbo:

Just 600 sea miles from NJ, Bill, and daily flights from Newark.
Avatar 4:00am northguineahills:

The last two marathons I was unemployed, and others stepped up for me. Now I'm employed, and I'm giving back to WFMU family.
  4:03am Michael and Birgit:

You all : Going to buy some food and i`m out for today. Bill and everyone , hear you next week...
Avatar 4:04am Jay/London:

have you got any comedy singles with you Bill ?
Avatar 4:05am northguineahills:

Lacked an article of a noun in my last post.
Avatar 4:07am northguineahills:

Just mopped all of the floors, therefore, they're now lava for the next hour, and I can't move.
Avatar 4:10am Bill Mac:

Damn this woulda been good floor moppin' music!
Avatar 4:11am northguineahills:

I know! Good floor swabbing music!
Avatar 4:12am Bill Mac:

  4:17am b k:

cheech and chong had a few hit singles of comedy, not novelty songs.(Sister Mary Elephant,Earache My Eye)of course I am talking about Cheech and Chong,so maybe I missed your original point.great show tonight.
Avatar 4:17am northguineahills:

I've heard some (un)comedy singles played in the last week, Jay/London. (bizarre dial a poem recs/christian proselytizing under the guise of 'humor', etc)
Avatar 4:21am Bill Mac:

@BK Earache My Eye was a single? Seems like it probably was
Avatar 4:21am Bill Mac:

Only $4 away from the 1000 dollar mark of the $1700 goal
Avatar 4:22am northguineahills:

I believe Scott Williams played Sister Mary Elephant this last Monday afternoon (15:00-18:00 EDT)
Avatar 4:23am Bill Mac:

Hah! Figgers...
Avatar 4:24am northguineahills:

Ok, too fatigued and drunk to contribute to a meaningful dialogue.
Avatar 4:25am Sem Chumbo:

Really enjoying these spins, Bill: you say you picked up the entire playlist for $60? Was there a theme in mind, or just a random dive in the bins?
Avatar 4:25am Bill Mac:

It's those ammonia fumes that yer huffin'.
Avatar 4:26am northguineahills:

Yeah, I remember my ears bleeding Monday afternoon at work (I need a better EQ for my work station)
Avatar 4:26am Sem Chumbo:

Sorry, $15 for the whole lot, I guess.
Avatar 4:26am Jay/London:

peter sellers/ the goons had some comedy singles
Avatar 4:28am northguineahills:

I'd drop dime for a peter sellers comedy single. (If I came across one in person (I don't buy recs online, weird rule I have))
Avatar 4:29am Bill Mac:

@Sem the record store was moving, I think I got 4 singles for a buck
Avatar 4:31am Bill Mac:

I was looking for a peter wyngarde 45... was he actually funny?
Avatar 4:32am Jay/London:

Peter Sellers & Sophia Loren - Goodness Gracious Me is a good one northguineahills
Avatar 4:33am Sem Chumbo:

Bill,I worked for a station (went on the air in 1926) during its 50th year when it was sending all its 78's to the dump. I picked out about 500 pounds worth and lugged them around for years.
Avatar 4:34am Jay/London:

Avatar 4:41am northguineahills:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:43am Stanley:

Talk about an aerobic singles going steady show. Matt Fiveash did a show turning each 45 over to play the B side of each.
Avatar 4:45am Jelly Jim:

@Jay...There is no storm yet but they think there will be. After the Micheal Fish thing they like to be on the safe side.
  4:46am Marmalade Kitty:

Not heard about the storm but felt the thunder/lightening yesterday afternoon though..!
Avatar 4:47am Sem Chumbo:

Avatar 5:13am Bill Mac:
