Avatar 7:03pm Starwick:

Hi Monica!! Hello everyone. Great opening . . .
Avatar 7:03pm Reeshard:

Hey, Monica! Most cinematic feeling to your intro today. Is Deborah Kerr today's Ms. Turntables?
  7:04pm sweet cheri:

hi monica, it's great to see you again..ltns!
Avatar 7:06pm doca:

hello monica! vangelis' blade runner soundtrack is cinematic intro for sure!
  7:06pm CB 1:

Frost expected tonight. Perfect music. Great to hear you, Mo.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm fleep:

Wistful ethereal greetings, Monica.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:07pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...can I call this 'New Agey' w/out it sounding like an insult?...probably not! - better say Ambient or Atmospheric! - because it's Good !
- What a face! ( - rather than hips or such this week...) ; ...often impressed in these gifs by what can be expressed in about six seconds or so !...
Avatar 7:07pm deanland:

Hello, all. Autumn finally here in many ways.
  7:09pm sweet cheri:

how are things with you mo?
  7:09pm bloopy:

Avatar 7:10pm Catsilk:

Love the Vangelis. My 12 year-old remembers listening to this at 1 in the morning on New Year's Eve after 2 of her buddies had a horrific sleigh accident at a party in the country. The blips and beeps, like those in the hospital where they lay in critical condition. OOF. They survived the night. This tune was gripping.
Avatar 7:12pm Reeshard:

Film music nerds of my acquaintance note discrepancies between the music heard in the theater while watching 'Blade Runner' and that which the soundtrack lp contains. Not so close to the issue myself, I just know it's the only Vangelis music that I enjoy.
  7:12pm CB 1:

Catsilk, Whoa, what a story. And what a soundtrack for it.
Avatar 7:13pm ken in denver:

I look forward to hearing this version of Falling Leaves every year ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Wow Catsilk! - that's rather 'Cinematic' too...manner of speaking...
Avatar 7:15pm Monica:

Drifting down, down, down... Good evening, Starwick. Reeshard (yes!), sweet cheri, doca, CB1, fleep, RevRab, deanland, bloopy, Catsilk, and ken in denver. Love autumn and the melancholy vibe....
  7:15pm CB 1:

A simply beautiful Autumn Leaves.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Andrew Waterloo:

Good evening
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...as a ♏Scorpio, loving Autumn is in my Contract
...but Winter's just too damn long here in NorthNewEngland...16 years in SoCal likely messed me up forever too...
Avatar 7:17pm ken in denver:

er, Autumn ...
Avatar 7:18pm Monica:

hey there, Andrew Waterloo!
Avatar 7:18pm texas scott:

hello monica and friends.
that Autumn Leaves is a gooden
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:18pm fleep:

Rabbit is correct about SoCal, today is tee and shorts weather, the only hint of fall is orange persimmons on the tree.
Avatar 7:19pm ken in denver:

I went out and bought that Ellington CD a few years ago after hearing it on your show.
Avatar 7:19pm doca:

just WHAT is the name of this tune?
  7:19pm CB 1:

Texas Scott! We here the hell you been?
  7:19pm trish:

This show started a half hour past sun down, here.
"Hey Bert - it's dark out."
Avatar 7:20pm Catsilk:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

'Autumn Serenade' by Coltrane Quartet w/ Johnny Hartman ain't bad either...
Avatar 7:20pm texas scott:

just lurkin
Avatar 7:21pm Reeshard:

Have lived in SoCal for a long time now - where the leaves don't change color, they just turn down the 'hue' knob - but autumn remains the time for: apple cider, Chas Addams cartoons, Kinks records, Luis Buñuel (I re-read his autobio every year at this time, as he so loved the first cold snap).
  7:22pm trish:

Particularly dark. Moonrise is at 7:30pm.
  7:22pm CB 2:

Texas Scott, is that anything like workin'?
  7:22pm sweet cheri:

mo, if you ask me i think fall is the most beautiful time year with the clear brisk air, do you agree mo?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

fleep - !: Imagine going from *that* to a Winter Sun that's 40°s above the horizon @ high noon! - & that usually behind grey clouds! ; like - we should build igloos now - ?! WTF?!?...
Avatar 7:23pm dale:

evening monica and butter and crew. can't wait for the apple pickers to leave the hudson valley. none of them have a clue how to drive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm Andrew Waterloo:

For my first 2 falls in southern Ontario the leaves very quickly went from green to brown and then on the ground. Happy to say that wasn't normal.
Avatar 7:24pm deanland:

Gloria Lynne! Always wonderful.
Avatar 7:25pm dale:

who is miss turnstyles tonight? kind of like an older grace kelly, except she didn't get the chance to be older. a classy dame, nonetheless.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...much thot about Kinks lately !! Myself - have long associated Autumn w/ wistful FolkRock - but any excuse for that for me...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:26pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

GraceK very much a ♏Scorp!
Avatar 7:27pm Monica:

T'Scott in the house!...Catsilk!...Trish!...doca!...fleep!...dale!...and CB Dos!
Avatar 7:27pm Reeshard:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...five leaves left...
  7:31pm sweet cheri:

monica, what's your opinion on fall?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm fleep:

@RRN No need to imagine, I grew up in Pawtucket, RI. fleep knows bleak.

  7:49pm diabetic dave:

Happy to be home. I was in the hospital ER with a bg of 460.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:50pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...seriously - D.Kerr looks like some particularly good comic artist drew her ; the Miss Turntables often look more like art conceptions than mortals...
  7:51pm Patrick -Wallkill, NY:

Monica, GREAT set list. What was playing after the track "12" that you were talking over?
  7:53pm diabetic dave:

The hospital lost my glasses:-(

Vietnam and Colombia
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:13pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...pretty sure it was Terrance McKenna (on great podcast Psychedelic Salon, btw) who said that Travel was the next best thing to psychedelic experience for mind expansion...
Avatar 8:15pm Reeshard:

The destination: Madagascar, motivated by book research as much as by musical and other kinds of curiosity. Though both my perpetually malfunctioning income and the island's current bubonic plague issue make the trip iffy at best.
  8:17pm trish:

I'd like to slo-mo it through two seemingly bite-sized countries: Japan and New Zealand. Both much larger with the mtns and coastlines.

And many points north -- experiencing light extremes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:19pm fleep:

There's no place like home.
  8:19pm Listener Schned:

Read about this years ago, and still hope to do...travel to Chioggia in Italia, to get on a fishing boat, in order to approach Venice from the sea (the way it was meant to be ?!?) p.s. anybody looking for a hard-working marketing whiz, could help me go on this trip---
Avatar 8:20pm deanland:

A Summer driving through France, then up Spain to Portugal. In Portugal starting with a few days relaxing on The Algarve (Portugese Riviera) then up to Lisboa, with day trips by rail to some nearby cities, then back in the car and up to the North, including Oporto, wine country. This, after Mrs. Yankfan & I do our cross country trip visiting ballparks far and wide. Then,if there's any wanderlust or travel bug left over, a trip to Ireland to see how green it really is, and to Scotland to drink the local libations.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Kristina Koffee:

I'd love to visit any of the southern continents... yes, my answer is that general.
  8:20pm sweet cheri:

mo, i really would love to move to london before i meet my maker, but we know it's just fantasy..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:20pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...fantasized about taking a camera & notebook along to make Documentary - following the trail of 'The Music' backwards - from Chicago to Mississippi to N'Orleans to the Caribbean to West Africa...

- Nice point about Nature, Dale: remembering John Muir's point about people 'Hiking' thru Nature when they should 'Saunter' - & wouldn't it be kewl to spend time in the Grand Canyon or Yosemite or any such w/out an Itinerary or timely pressures...
Avatar 8:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

'evening, troops.
Sorry to miss Con.Schnitzler, but here now.
  8:23pm sweet cheri:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:23pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...yeah! - watching PBS travel programs clued me into that: small towns in the Mediterranean...it's a big beautiful world...sigh...
Avatar 8:23pm tomB:

never thought about it before, but that Lonnie Donegan cut indicates where Bob Dylan picked up some of his vocal stylings
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...suspect tomB they were both into Woody Guthrie - but - on topic - it's a small world!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:25pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...after all, it's a Leadbelly tune, yes? Major pals w/ Woody...
Avatar 8:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Sounds like Dharma Blues Band (pre-hawkwind Brock combo) nabbed that sound pretty perfectly (Bob Gaddy tune)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:27pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...& the proto-Beatles & everybody were Skiffle bands...Dylan & Paul Simon & such were travled in & influenced by UK Folk - & around & around...

We just came back from the Pacific Northwest & California two weeks ago. I'd go back more often if I could afford it. the one place I'd love to visit is New Zealand, where a cousin and his family live (most of whom I've never met). Peter says he'd love to visit Rio de Janiero (and so would I).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:39pm Ike:
