Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:02am Ken From Hyde Park:

Why did the apiary have the radio tuned to WFMU?

They thought they heard one of the programs would bee-sting the airwaves!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:05am common:

bea-sting. hee, ken.
Avatar 9:05am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...bee serious...
Avatar 9:06am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Oh Bee-have!...
Avatar 9:06am Toots:

YO YO! Mama in the Haus!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am tim from champaign:

Is PBR the hipster beer of choice? If so, how come? Out of irony or something?
Avatar 9:07am Keili:

YOOOOO
Hey everybody!
Let's start this weekend RIGHT - with Levi Weaver!
Avatar 9:09am Toots:

out of cheapness
Avatar 9:09am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

tim: partly irony, partly poverty (it ain't bad for holdin' a gun to piggybanks's head for beer)...
Avatar 9:10am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I'm guessin' the poverty comes before the irony...
  9:11am Bob in DC/VA/wherever:

Howdy Beasters!
Avatar 9:11am Keili:

hi bob!
Avatar 9:11am northguineahills:

As Rev Rabbit said, when I was unemployed, it was the cheapest beer that my taste buds would allow, and it still tastes better then Bud.
Avatar 9:13am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...but what do *I* know of hipster irony (huff huff)...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am tim from champaign:

Fair enough. PBR is alright with me. At the bar I usually start with a top shelf beer for a couple then switch to $1.50 PBR drafts. PBR, Stag and Hams are my go to yellow Saturday afternoon sipping beers. I'd drink Yuengling if I could get it.
Avatar 9:14am Keili:

Which beer tastes more like dishwater - Budweiser, PBR, or Coors light?
  9:15am Marmalade Kitty:

all three..? Budweiser Budvar is good!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am Cory:

that depends, do you prefer the taste of Dawn or Palmolive?
Avatar 9:16am Toots:

Papa loves PBR.
Avatar 9:17am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I'm not sure it's the soap that distinguishes the individual palettes of various dishwaters...
Avatar 9:18am Keili:

Is dishwater specifically sink water with dishsoap in it? I always thought of it as more about water thats been amongst dirty dishes.
Avatar 9:20am Cheri Pi:

Note to self- Start Beastin'
Avatar 9:20am fred von helsing:

Trappist beers, please. You can keep your Yanqui dishwater :)
Avatar 9:20am northguineahills:

That's my strategy, Tim. Start w/ the good stuff and work my way down. by the fifth beer, I'm not going to be noticing the difference on my palette anyways.
Avatar 9:21am Cheri Pi:

It's dirty soap and food water.
Avatar 9:21am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...or like alchoholic rice-water that's had a teabag w/ a bit of low-grade hops dipped in it - yer Classic 'Merican post-prohibition wide-distribution delicacy...
Avatar 9:22am dc pat:

Gems...not to be confused with Germs...which is what I thought it said. Hiyo.
Avatar 9:24am dc pat:

I'm with fred. Especially at my age, I'm not wasting time anymore. Although there are a couple of Amerkian beers I dig.

Avatar 9:24am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...or, if you will, dishwater...you have to go thru the germs to get to the gems...that's what the curvy s-bit trap under the sink is for...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:25am tim from champaign:

Yo fred, I got yer Yanqui dishwater right here buddy! Naw, just kidding. If was only allowed to drink Trappist beers for the rest of my life, I'd die happy and drunk.
Avatar 9:25am Toots:

HOLY MOLY DJ DOPPLGANGER: I would have thought that was Keili- and I think I know her well.

Avatar 9:28am fred von helsing:

Trappists beers are a good excuse to blow into Amsterdam. You can get them on tap and it's maybe 3 or 4 € a bottle at the shop.
Avatar 9:28am glenn:

yasou, y'all. ti kanis?
  9:29am dj doppelgänger:

When my keiliclone army is ready where shall I strike first? Suggestions, please. Something really EBIL!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am tim from champaign:

@fred - Totally! I was in Amsterdam in January and I took good advantage of the 3-4 Euro Trappist and Belgians.
Avatar 9:30am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Strike first Joplin, Missouri. It freaked me out sometime in the early 1990s.
Avatar 9:30am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 9:31am northguineahills:

Keiliclone army, sounds like villainous group from the Venture Bros.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:31am tim from champaign:

I also loved afternoon drinking at a cafe in Amsterdam. Extremely pleasant and civilized. No Tom Petty or sports blaring. Nice and relaxing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am MD:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am fred:

Good morning Keili and everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:33am MD:

OH I- OH!!!!!
Avatar 9:33am fred von helsing:

@TvC Did you hit the pubs? Like, Die Wildeman ? Or Cafe Belgique ? Fantastic selections. I met a guy who worked for a Dutch distributor. He said once a week he drove over to Belgium and hit the monasteries and asked them what they had for him. Truly doing God's work :-P
Avatar 9:34am Toots:

Keili- your cat is puking all over the house.
Avatar 9:35am Berg:

hi all - salut Fred!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37am fred:

@FVH: a few years ago a Belgian beer distributor set up an unofficial (as in illegal) venue for noise/experimental gigs next to his warehouse. It only lasted about 6 months, but it was epic.
  9:37am dj doppelgänger:

Keep those suggestions coming. The keiliclone army is getting itchy. Armed with music-packed thumb drives and dangerous. They're chanting something about burning down the disco.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am fred:

Salut Berg!
Avatar 9:40am Toots:

OH MY GOD DO NOT SPEAK SPANISH!
Avatar 9:41am glenn:

oh, i see. when the cat is puking, it's KEILI'S cat. when it's being all cute and snuggly and shit, it's TOOTS' cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am tim from champaign:

@fred vh - I'm blanking on the names of the pubs I visited. One was the oldest continuously running pub. It was in the Anne Frank House neighborhood. It was a friendly, locals joint. The bartender taught me how to order beer like a local.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:43am fred:

@glenn: I doubt it's ever Toots' cat
Avatar 9:44am Toots:

Fred understands me.
Avatar 9:44am Berg:

nice tunes Keili - now I can't take off my headphones any more and head home!
  9:44am dj doppelgänger:

@TvC Cool ! So, what's the key to ordering like a local ? And did you hit the windmill brewpub ? http://www.brouwerijhetij.nl/homepage/bring-out-the-bock/
  9:45am dj doppelgänger:

oops
Avatar 9:46am Keili:

@glenn - HAHAHA
Avatar 9:46am Keili:

@berg - thanks so much! i mean sorry
Avatar 9:46am Thatan:

I thtand corrected; your name ith pronounthed like "Bill Keili and hith Hometth"!
Avatar 9:47am Keili:

@toots - wait a minute WHAT. Where did he get human food??
  9:47am Bob in DC/VA/wherever:

Fred, if you come to the US you have to try some of the American microbrews -- Dogfish Head, Flying Dog, Heavy Seas and New Belgium all have very good varieties, and more are popping up every day it seems. I do enjoy a good Trappist too, however.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am MD:

Hey doppelganger...thought I met you once...but it wasn't you...it was someone who looked just like you!!!???!!!
Avatar 9:48am Keili:

@THATAN - OMG ITS YOU.
Avatar 9:51am Toots:

IDK. Maybe when NO ONE DID THE FUCKING DISHES???? Just a guess...
Avatar 9:51am Thatan:

Hell-o! Here'th another fact about me: I am from Rochethter, where there are many Buddhithth, including mythelf, and a lot of nothing. Yay for nothing!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am tim from champaign:

@dj doppelganger - unfortunately, I didn't make it to brouwerij hetij. Next time for sure. To order like a local, you order by requesting the type of glass the beer is served in instead of the brewery name. So you would ask for a tulip glass for example.
Avatar 9:52am KP:

Good morning, Keili.
Avatar 9:52am Toots:

Let's hurt lulu tonight.
Avatar 9:52am fred von helsing:

@bob I HAVE tried a bunch of those. Yum! Thank heaven for microbreweries eh. Also big hits in my book: good IPAs (NOT hyperhoppy) and solid British bitters.
Avatar 9:53am dc pat:

KEILI'S MOM!!! LANGUAGE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am fred:

I just got bad news: Pharmakon had to cancel her Paris show next week. The worst about it is that is seems to be health related
Avatar 9:53am Toots:

dc pat! DO THE DISHES!
Avatar 9:54am Toots:

OH wow. That's bad news, Fred. Pharmakon rules.
Avatar 9:54am dc pat:

fred, bob: my fave right now is (and has been for a while) Founders Breakfast Stout... when I can get it, I do.
  9:54am Buffalo guy:

Thatan confirms that Rochester is indeed Hell.
Avatar 9:55am Rev. Turnip Druid:

Founders B.Stout is indeed mother's milk of the gods.
Avatar 9:55am Rev. Turnip Druid:

(godesses?)
Avatar 9:55am Keili:

hi kp!
@dcpat - HAHAHA
@fred - noooo that sucks...
Avatar 9:57am fred von helsing:

Founders eh? Check. The Finnish mass-market beers aren't a lot better than the Yanqui swill but a German shop chain (Lidl) is importing a Kraut wheat beer that's cheap and not bad at all.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:57am tim from champaign:

dc pat - looks like this fall's batch of FBS is out. Has it reached your neck of the woods yet?

Last night I had some Dark Horse Scotty Karate Scotch Ale and Bells Oarsman Ale. I actually feel pretty chipper this morning too.
Avatar 10:01am amEdeo:

HAAAAAIIIIIIII.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03am tim from champaign:

kirk from beer city usa, are you on the board yet? kirk is the dude to talk beer with. He might be slightly more knowledgeable about beer than records and that due knows a lot about records!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am fred:

My favorite venue had run out of Tripel Karmeliet by Tuesday, but they managed to have a few bottles yesterday when I was there to see Smegma
Avatar 10:04am Berg:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04am tim from champaign:

"due" = dude. d'oh!
Avatar 10:05am Thatan:

@Buffalo Guy: Yeth, but hey, Hell ith what you make it. Why not make it fun?
Avatar 10:05am Toots:

I don't understand beer. I need someone to explain beer to me. I'd like to know. I am not interested in understanding or drinking wine. But I would like to acquire a taste for beer - which I have not as of yet.
Avatar 10:05am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...seriously - any keiliclone wants for more Nothin' - I could certainly promise that...
Avatar 10:07am glenn:

beer - getting ugly people laid since 4000 b.c.
  10:07am JC:

hey
Avatar 10:07am Toots:

OH no! I think I might be ugly!
Avatar 10:08am glenn:

oh, i 'm pretty sure you're not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:09am Ike:

Nobody is ugly on the Internet. :)

Speaking of mother's milk and beer, there is a stout from Kingston NY called Mother's Milk. I hate beer, but this stuff is actually sort of tolerable. Very smooth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:10am tim from champaign:

Toots - what flavor sensations do you enjoy?
Avatar 10:11am dc pat:

@tim: yes I grabbed 4 last weekend. Don't remember much else...
Avatar 10:12am Thatan:

@Ike: Doeth that include YouTube commentth?
Avatar 10:12am Toots:

dark-ish and sweet-ish. on the sweeter side. I don't like beer with a bitter bite.
Avatar 10:12am Toots:

and I hate pale, watery beers like bud or even good ones that are pale.
Avatar 10:14am glenn:

this is the beer for you, toots. if you can get it in the u.s.a., that is.

I prefer cider. I had a strawberry and apple cider tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:19am Ike:

@CD Tap, I know, right? Birth defect in the taste buds, I suspect. At least I save money. Belgian chocolate is cheaper than beer.

@Toots: There's Barbãr Bok: a dark beer brewed with honey. On the really sweet side there's Kasteel Rouge: a cherry-flavored beer that tastes like actual cherry
Avatar 10:21am Thatan:

@Buffalo Guy: Oh! The poor chickenth! The poor, tathty, deliciouth chickenth! Thuch ith my dilemma ath a Buddhitht who liketh chicken wingth. I need to go meditate.

@Kelli: beer jokes? Here are 2014 beer predictions. Smoked beers, anyone? culturecheesemag.com...
  10:23am Bob in DC/VA/wherever:

Left Handed Brewery in Longmont, Colo., also has a Nitro "milk stout." New Belgium's Fat Tire is definitely on the sweeter side.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23am Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

@Keili: It went from 8:15 to 11 pm with a half hour intermission at 9 pm. So it was 2 hrs 15 min of music.

Ira wanted to shake my hand for wearing a WFMU shirt. :-)

Two really good sets broken into a gentler set and a more rockin' set.
  10:24am Bob in DC/VA/wherever:

And hey, welcome back Levi! I think you did my favorite Beastin' jingle ever.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:24am tim from champaign:

Toots - I'd recommend trying Young's Chocolate Stout. Nicely blended chocolate and stout flavors without bitterness.

Also try Lindeman's lambic beers. Sweet and fruity.
  10:25am Creep:

everyone is creepy, get over it, you creeps
Avatar 10:25am Thatan:

Yay Lindeman'th Framboithe!
Avatar 10:27am fred von helsing:

yup toots check out lambics
Avatar 10:32am Keili:

@bob - that would be him! played it this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:33am fred:

I should add that both Barbãr Bok and Kasteel Rouge are treacherous beers. We called the later "Casse-tête rouge" (red head-breaker) for a reason
Avatar 10:33am Senor Loma (aka indyGOkid):

Keili, I LOVE YOU!

Keili - can you as Levi where in texas he's from?
Avatar 10:35am fred von helsing:

toots also there's also a type of german wheat beers that aren't light ones, they tend to be dark and have some sweetness

This inbetween-songs chatter is great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:39am Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

@jwb Keili lives in a complicated world that includes puking unicorns, some of us have given up trying to understand a long time ago :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am fred:

I hope this ends up on the FMA. I want to download it, but I want to share it even more
Avatar 11:46am Toots:

None of this comes to you at zero cost! Please pledge so WFMU can continue to bring you great shows and a performance space to make them even better! xoxoxox
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:47am Spatulator (formerly elwyn5150):

@fred: Won't it end up on the WFMU archives? if not, if you download the .pl file from WFMU, it contains a URL of the MP3 of the episode.
Avatar 11:47am Nfrae from Oregon:

@fred Was just thinking the same thing!
Avatar 11:48am Toots:

HEY DJ KEILI! What does Levi think of the performance space???
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:48am fred:

@Danne D: give up on understanding, but never give up on Keili. Keili > understanding.
And Toots is right: plege and get Keili over 50%
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:50am Mike East:

Screamales!!!
Avatar 11:50am fred von helsing:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:53am Joe D.:

Screaaaamales
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:54am fred:

@elwin: yeah, but the FMA is easier to link to, and that's yet another reason to support the station. It keeps giving and what it asks for is just what you can afford. You can do it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am fred:

As weird as we are, good point Levi
Avatar 11:56am Danne D:

@fred of course :)
Avatar 11:57am Danne D:
