Avatar 3:17pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

I can be creepy, when needed.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm DCE:

so CP, I imagine you're pretty bummed about Hawkwind...
Avatar 3:20pm steve:

as a human radio station, i bet that's helpful
Avatar 3:23pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

Yeah, DCE it's sad but there are a few at leasts: I took the whole week of, I'm seeing Gong two nights before the t'would be show, I have an extra day now to spend in Chicago, we might visit 3 Floyds brewery on the way home. I hope david feels better and I am hanging on to my ticket for the March show.
Avatar 3:24pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

I should be a radio station for Helloween, Hmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm tim from champaign:

Too bad about Hawkwind. I had a friend going to the show in Chicago. I'm sure he's bumming. WKR-CP - are you hitting up Kumas in Chicago? Also, definitely hit up Three Floyds on the way home. Food is hit or miss but the beer is friggin great.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Stanley:

Is it over? Can I come back into the room now?
Avatar 3:30pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

Oh good call TfC! I hope they have a veggie version of the Ghost burger!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm DCE:

drum machine, meet delay unit...you two are going to get along great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:32pm tim from champaign:

Dude, they have veggie version of every burger. Just ask. Plus their mac and cheese is one of theeeee best in the country. Served with sriracha too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Carmichael:

Did Hawkwind cancel?? That's a bummeroo ...

Hiya Scotty.
Avatar 3:33pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

I'll make sure to ask them if the communion wafer is vegan too.
Avatar 3:34pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

Heya Carms, no they "postponed" like, a day before their tour until March.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Carmichael:

Well that sucks for everyone. They owe veggie burgers to a LOT of people.
Avatar 3:37pm Kurt Gottschalk:

u r scarying me

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm DCE:

Goblin is playing a room that holds 600 here. I don't think there's 600 Goblin fans in the whole state, so I'm not worried about it selling out.

Avatar 4:53pm Serpico:

hi Scott how's it going? hope all is well
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Carmichael:

I like this melodramatic all-important sounding synthy stuff.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:56pm Scott Williams:

hey, big thanks to listener Bill in NYC for pledging to the show! i'd love to hear from more of you on the lil pledge widget - would be great to get to 20% of my show total by 6pm today!
Avatar 4:57pm northguineahills:

I can smell my tongue via my parolaryngeal cavity. My olfactory glands are rather sensitive. Which reminds me, I need a mint after finishing this soup.
Avatar 4:58pm steve:

im still hyperventilating about Goblin
Avatar 5:01pm WKR-CP in Cincinnati:

Goblin, Goblin, Goblin, Goblin, Goblin, that's all you Romans ever think about.
Avatar 5:01pm Serpico:

-kes...whoah that was weird.

anyway i'll see if i can find the necessary funds for your show, Scott..just some back-alley deals i need to take care of ;)

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If a goat has no nose, how does it smell?

Nose or no nose, it smells terrible!
Avatar 5:06pm Serpico:

not if you clean it thoroughly.
Avatar 5:08pm Serpico:

i'm liking this synthy-ness
Avatar 5:17pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@DCP 4:13 -- not as bad as me. I got slurped into a magical vortex of annoying fukfuk as soon as the show started. Back now. Nobody move. I must savor the groove before the vortex opens again...
Avatar 5:19pm Serpico:

tornado warning!? :0
Avatar 5:20pm Serpico:

@Rev. Turnip Druid what are you on, and can i have some? haha just kidding XD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21pm Mike East:

speaking of krauty synthy music, I did backline for Tangerine Dream last week. Those dudes had, like, 14 keyboards.
Avatar 5:23pm steve:

thats awesome Mike. are they still using much vintage analog stuff?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:27pm Mike East:

nah, steve. korg radias (or radii, I guess, they had like 3 of 'em), some nords, Roland V synth, Access Virus...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm Mike East:

though the original request had some Creamware stuff which looked like it was remade old synths, like prophets and stuff
Avatar 5:31pm steve:

cool... after all the stories ive heard about synths going out of tune mid concert in the 70s, it doesnt surprise me that many of those artists are all digital in concert now
Avatar 5:32pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

good question.
what the hell AM i on?
...or should be?
Avatar 5:33pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ah, Nilsson's JUMP INTO THE FIRE. You went there. nice.....
Avatar 5:34pm Serpico:

@Rev. Turnip Druid that is a good question. O_o
Avatar 5:36pm northguineahills:

I think the good Rev is on his bum (maybe his feet)
Avatar 5:37pm the glowing one:

Speaking of analog synths going out of tune I wonder if you can counteract this phenomena with smarter electronic designs. I guess not all synthesizers back then were designed to be played on stage but rather in a studio.
Avatar 5:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Driven mad by meetings, conference-calls, and suchlike plastic urgencies. Brief respite in the headphones...
Avatar 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

And what's all this about analog synths going out of tune? Why inna hell should they be IN tune in the first place? Clearly I've missed much, o my brothers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm Mike East:

also, a lot of these old synth guys were nerds who liked being on the cutting edge of technology, and still do, so they're gonna try to keep up with what's happening now, rather than wistfully looking back on how cool that old stuff is/was. See efd's interview with the dude from OMD.
Avatar 5:43pm the glowing one:

Ah well, OMD. Fantastic sound, cheesy pop songs.
Avatar 5:44pm the glowing one:

But yeah, the analog synths of today are probably top notch engineering-wise. I wouldn't want to bother with old equipment either.
Avatar 5:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I adore my old moog MG1 (the radio shack model) but there's so much cracked solder in that thing it's 50% tone & 50% bitter crackle. As charming as it is annoying.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Carmichael:

I'm still using my Boss ME-50 floor unit, complete with flange and overdrive pedals wired in separately. It's kinda fun, actually, stomping on things to get the right sound. My Inline unit sits on the amp, giving me those puppy dog eyes ...
Avatar 5:50pm steve:

thats true. the funny thing about Paul Humphries comments about digital synths sounding the same is that i was able to guess correctly which tracks were recent digital productions every time for the whole 3 hours (i don't know their catalog very well)... not that that difference necessarily warrants tens of thousands of dollars and hundreds of pounds of gear...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Scott Williams:

thanks for the company and fine synthy & otherwise chatter, everyone! see you next week.
Avatar 6:00pm northguineahills:

Thanks Scott!
