Avatar 9:02pm Dave Mandl:

Evening, friends and lovers.
  9:05pm KP:

Hello, Dave.
Avatar 9:05pm david_:

hi Dave and all
Avatar 9:06pm Dave Mandl:

Hey there, KP.
Avatar 9:06pm Dave Mandl:

Hey @david_. Is that a cursor at the end of your name? I like that.
  9:09pm bloopy:

Mr Dave Mandl
Avatar 9:09pm david_:

more of a way to keep the screen name, but I'll take it :)
Avatar 9:11pm duke:

Good evening
I like this calvin keys thing
Avatar 9:13pm Dave Mandl:

Hey bloopy, duke.
Avatar 9:13pm Dave Mandl:

david_: Ah, right. Better than david123 or whatever.
Avatar 9:21pm david_:

Houle's attack and phrasing reminds me of Braxton, but on clarinet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:22pm Andrew Waterloo:

Thanks for the François Houle Dave.
Avatar 9:22pm Droll:

Has name-squatting in the Friendship Society already begun? What's "Dave" or "David" cost? I smell marathon ploy.
Avatar 9:24pm Dave Mandl:

@Andrew: Da nada.
Avatar 9:24pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: If you have to ask, you can't afford it.
Avatar 9:25pm duke:

There are a lot of daves on the comment boards. If you want to be a dave you have to sign up early.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:26pm Andrew Waterloo:

will have to dig up my copy Aerials later
Avatar 9:27pm Dave:

Can't I just put "Dave" in this name box to be the Dave I always wanted to be?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:28pm Andrew Waterloo:

I worked in a place that had 4 Daves and through some weird act of fate they all sat adjacent to each other.
Avatar 9:28pm Dave and Droll and Everyone else:

Ha! There's goes the name after-market! Poof!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Andrew Waterloo:

:( my lock groove record didn't make it through the mail.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:35pm Andrew Waterloo:

I am crestfallen.
Avatar 9:36pm Droll:

Steve Wilson remixed a bunch of KC for 5.1 Surround.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:37pm Andrew Waterloo:

I don't know how to pronounce Tuilerie either
Avatar 9:41pm Dave Mandl:

I know how to pronounce it, but my mouth isn't cooperating tonight.
Avatar 9:42pm Dave Mandl:

Droll: I know, but I don't think I've ever heard those. I really should check them out. Though I've got an oooold stereo at home.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42pm Andrew Waterloo:

@Dave Mandl, I see
  9:42pm Thierry from France:

Hi Dave! Challenging show, both on air and on site (had to look up 'effulgence' and 'crestfallen')!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Hullo !
...friend bought tickets to this 'Queen Extravaganza' thing
- but it's great to be *here* (better late than never) - !...
Avatar 9:45pm Dave Mandl:

Bon soir, Thierry.
Avatar 9:45pm Dave Mandl:

RRN63: Great. It wouldn't be the same without you.
Avatar 9:48pm Droll:

Surround is a waste if you don't also put up acoustic treatments (diffusion and absorption). Expensive stereo speakers are also a waste unless you put up treatments. Even a small amount in corners makes any system sound much better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm David L.B. is RRN63:

...does anyone care for the Review ?...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:48pm David L.B. is RRN63:

- interesting Droll. Elaborate?
  9:49pm KP:

Heard you mention PIX. I worked in that building when they were great. Saw DJs in bar downstairs. Wonderful time in NY radio history
Avatar 9:53pm Dave Mandl:

@KP: Cool. Was that on 42nd St. and 3rd?
Avatar 9:57pm Mdurek:

You played Jandek when i was bringing in the milk LOL. Niceeeeee
Avatar 9:58pm Droll:

Google calculator can be used to compute the length of a sound wave, if the length of the frequency you're trying to reproduce is longer than your room, it won't fit and you get spots that have no bass and others that are boomy. Absorption clears up those problems. www.google.com...

Diffusion is another matter, too much for Google calculator or chat board.
Avatar 9:58pm Mdurek:

This sounds like a nightmare I had when I was VERY young
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm David L.B. is RRN63:

- Cheers Droll. Oddly enuff for being here, I am interested in sound...
Avatar 10:00pm Dave Mandl:

@Mdurek: My condolences.
Avatar 10:02pm Mdurek:

Thanks, Thanks...But I can face it now...I am healed. Halelujah!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:03pm David L.B. is RRN63:

...this Queen tribute used a bit of 'Metropolis' for imagery; made me think of Ken being FMU Mgr. & using Rotwang for an avatar - hmm - & what a thoroughly amazing film Metro. was/is - esp. for 1927...
Avatar 10:04pm Mdurek:

Man...love how that beat dropped
Avatar 10:14pm Mdurek:

I'm calling the cops
Avatar 10:19pm Dave Mandl:

I'm innocent!
Avatar 10:21pm Droll:

It's true, 0m 0s of Mellotron so far. Earlier, there were woodwinds but no flute solos. The man is innocent.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:22pm pacific standard simon:

woof! moo! Hello all Daves and others.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:23pm David L.B. is RRN63:

Hullo !
Avatar 10:24pm Mdurek:

Yummmy Glitchy Goodness...NOW WE're talking. :)
Avatar 10:26pm Dave Mandl:

@pss: Hey there.
  10:27pm KP:

Yes Dave, Kent also worked there.
  10:27pm KP:

Clark Kent
Avatar 10:30pm Dave Mandl:

More glitchiness coming up...
Avatar 10:31pm Dave Mandl:

Well, sort of...
Avatar 10:32pm Dave Mandl:

@KP: Yeah, there was a phone booth right on the corner.
Avatar 10:33pm Mdurek:

I wonder what kind of electronic music Clark Kent would have made. Superman obviously did power electronics right?
  10:33pm trish:

@Thierry from France:: Can you recommend any radio on the french flip side of this? ie. in French with live French playlists?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:35pm pacific standard simon:

We kind of know what kind of music Clark Kent made -- but his secret identity is "Stewart Copeland".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:37pm David L.B. is RRN63:

- there's TSF Jazz ~Paris (www.tsfjazz.com...), if you like Jazz. It's not avant or anything but it's not (the wrong) Kenny G either...erm - prob. not what you're looking for...
Avatar 10:37pm Mdurek:

@pss.... nice, I can see the resemblance.
  10:37pm KP:

Right! It stayed there well into the iPhone age. No one could figure it out
Avatar 10:38pm Mdurek:

Thanks for these jams!!! Ttyl
Avatar 10:40pm Dave Mandl:

@Mdurek: You're welcome. cya.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41pm pacific standard simon:

I think Gordon Sumner's secret identity is Lex Luthor.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:42pm David L.B. is RRN63:

- excellent! ...*That* leaves Andy...
Avatar 10:42pm Dave Mandl:

@trish: If I may plug myself, there's Jet FM in Nantes. My show is going to be rebroadcast there every week starting any day now. But other than that, great station. They used to rebroadcast DJ/Rupture.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:44pm David L.B. is RRN63:

? :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:49pm David L.B. is RRN63:

- c'est ici ? : www.jetfm.asso.fr...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:50pm pacific standard simon:

I dunno, Rabbit... Bizarro Superman?
  10:50pm trish:

Your show to air on French radio, Dave?
Guessing this is the one http://www.jetfm.asso.fr
Excellente. Hey, how about that. Neat. etc.
Avatar 10:50pm Dave Mandl:

RRN: Oui. My show was supposed to join their schedule "in September," but I haven't checked. I've also forgotten to announce it anywhere, so you're the first to know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm David L.B. is RRN63:

pss: answered myself 10:44 - whadaya think ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:51pm pacific standard simon:

Dave Mandl Conquers The World!!!
Avatar 10:51pm Droll:

DM Will you dub in French mic breaks? If so, I'm switching.
Avatar 10:52pm Dave Mandl:

trish: Thanks. Supposed to be Sundays, 9 to noon local time. So tonight's show would air next Sunday.
Avatar 10:53pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: Nooooooooo.
Avatar 10:54pm Dave Mandl:

But maybe their fall season hasn't started yet. I don't remember the starting date.
  11:01pm trish:

There are a few french radio stations in Toronto other than Radio Canada (french-cbc), but I can't receive any them on the radio. Other languages? No problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:03pm pacific standard simon:

@Rabbit - don't really see Andy as the wacky type. Now, Eric Burdon, on the other hand...
Avatar 11:12pm Droll:

What comes after music in 4/4 and 3/4? 13/8 and 7/8 time, alternating, of course! I knew you'd get to the math segment eventually.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:12pm David L.B. is RRN63:

- well - impish I thot...Burdon did call himself a 'gnome'...perhaps we'll let Andy off on this one...
  11:13pm trish:

.. "l'écho du monde" ?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm David L.B. is RRN63:

Avatar 11:14pm Dave Mandl:

"Monde d'Echo"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:14pm pacific standard simon:

I liked that Carl Orff thing a lot!
Avatar 11:15pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: Well, 7/8 falls between 3/4 and 4/4. Then there'd be 9/8. Or you could go to 17/16.
Avatar 11:18pm Droll:

I stand corrected. That's why you're the internationally syndicated radio DJ and I'm sitting at a desk taking notes.
  11:25pm trish:

Doesn't look like anything has been posted, yet. I see Mudd Up : http://www.jetfm.asso.fr/site/Mudd-Up.html
And glad I asked. Rfi's apprendre le français avec l’actu weighs on the broccolis side of the plate.
Avatar 11:55pm Droll:

This almost sounds like it could be alongside Hambu Hodo, but these hot dogs really are French.
Avatar 11:56pm Droll:

Wow, the fun hour (and the other two) are over already?! Have a fun week, all!
Avatar 11:56pm Dave Mandl:

@Droll: Yup, the real item.
  11:57pm KP:

Bye Dave, it's been Super.
  11:58pm trish:

Le whoosh.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:59pm pacific standard simon:

Ah well, g'night Mr. Mandl -- enjoyed what I was able to be here for.
Avatar 12:01am Dave Mandl:

Thanks, folks. Have a great week!
