I never miscue a record. I am punctual, well-prepared, and dislike clutter. Outgoing and helpful, I'm always appropriately dressed. I do not behave erratically and have excellent penmanship. My CD's never skip, and I am in good health. I like all the notes, in any order.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:52pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...he probably thinks that's what a band's supposed to do - nail yer flyer to every tree in God's creation. Points for enthusiasm - Zero for context.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56pm Mike East:

@RevRabbit...I do sympathize...back in my youth I spent many hours walking around college towns with a staple gun, roll of tape, and bag full of homemade flyers.
Avatar 12:57pm cd tap:

PI! ...and others...
Avatar 12:59pm cd tap:

oh, man I most have posted thousands of useless flyers. I don't know why we did it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...re flyers: visions of 'Decline of Western Civ. Pt. 2 - the Metal Years' - it's SpinalTap exactly - only an actual docummentary, if you never saw...meanwhile I'm slutting around both Streams - so I'm just a Spammer too...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:01pm Mike East:

@cd tap- because we couldn't come up with any other way to get the word out there that our bands were awesome. Hanging flyers makes you feel like you're doing something proactive.
  1:01pm Dean:

Next up: Annea Lockwood, The Glass World -- http://www.allmusic.com/album/the-glass-world-mw0000958055
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Ike:

To be fair, that band *has* been played on FMU. Laura Cantrell may have had them on live once as well (?). So it's not like totally out-of-context spam for snake oil horny-you-up drugs or shiny hair products or something, but it's still obnoxious.
Avatar 1:02pm cd tap:

@ME: I guess. I spent so much time on those damn things and then to see them faded, hanging like a rag, months later from a telephone pole...I dunno...
Avatar 1:03pm cd tap:

I too dug the Maclaurin..
Avatar 1:04pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

DC has made a point of nailing the flyer-ing. Supposedly venues will get hit with fines if they don't catch the individuals posting. Ain't like it was.
Avatar 1:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

9353 kept the city wallpapered single-handedly thru the mid 80s, bless 'em.
Avatar 1:05pm Bryce:

oh yeah, love that lockwood! there's a nice kagel piece too...
Avatar 1:11pm Droll:

RTD, What?! The club gets fined when the band posts flyers illegally? Aren't the clubs just going to wallpaper the city with bogus flyers for other clubs to get them in trouble? Does that pass for "competition"?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:15pm Carmichael:

OK, I'm seriously goddamn hungry. Start talking lunch, people.
Avatar 1:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

@Droll: it's all very goofy. What we have now is a city annoyingly clean of underground "evidence." Flyers are left in very tidy stacks at yonder record store. Occasionally I'll see a flyer etc but I still miss the wheat-paste jungle we had once upon a time.
Avatar 1:16pm Chris from DC:

Good day for a curry, Carm, though aren't they all?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Anyone going to see Lancaster Prison tomorrow night in Astoria, Queens, at 8PM? First gig in like two years!
Avatar 1:18pm cd tap:

yeah, but ya gotta admit that that anti-flyer law works. Nobody does it anymore. It is pretty annoyingly boring though.
Avatar 1:19pm Chris from DC:

Those polite stacks of flyers on a shelf in a store or club just aren't the same.
Avatar 1:19pm cd tap:

oops, didn't mean to mimic the Rev's use of "annoyingly"...
Avatar 1:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

It's the only law that DOES seem to work around here, alas.

As for lunch, I mis-read the gluten references during Keili's show & now am fully craving the Malaysian curry gluten up the street from here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Ike:

I dump a sack of dirty prison armadillos on your head, KFHP. :P
Avatar 1:21pm cd tap:

I got caught up in the science of flyer making at one point. Most groups had these artsy, cool, yet convoluted junk going on in their flyers and I could never figure out where/when/who. Then I saw other groups, 9353 is a good example, where the art was there but everything was crystal clear and could be gleaned in a moment. I started trying to make those: BLACK CAT, FRIDAY, OUR GROUP. that kind of thing..
Avatar 1:22pm cd tap:

STILL haven't made it to the Malaysian gluten shack. Mrs. cd tap knows that's where we're heading for my birfday though...
Avatar 1:23pm cd tap:

ok, gotta play checkers with cd tap jr....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:24pm DCE:

talk about lunch...I just placed an order for Jimmy John's for our office on Monday...damned lot of sandwiches got my thinkin' about lunch again.
Avatar 1:25pm Droll:

I don't blame the city for banning posters: they're a stepping stone to sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. That's what rock music is all about, promoting bad things. That's why I listen to nice music like Bryce plays: no lurid jungle beats to seduce innocents on THIS show! Bryce would never listen to, much less play rock drums. He's couth.
Avatar 1:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Capt.Tap: I can't recommend the malaysian place enough. Meanwhile, there's a beer conversation here in the ofc. Devils of temptation everywhere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm Carmichael:

Dang, my Nepalese food place closed. Now I have to get out of my rut and think and stuff.
Avatar 1:29pm cd tap:

  1:46pm Mike:

I am old enough to have seen Basquiat's samo graffiti on the empty industrial streets of Soho on my way to an internship at The Kitchen on Broome..and helped many bands/artists snipe (what we called wheatpasting flyers to walls). Did that a few nights with dance (yes) curator, Eric Bogosian, Ken would like to know- "We're not living in the dark ages". And saw many B&W xeroxed flyers for Branca, Liquid Liquid, Robert Ashley, any number of bands at CBs, Tier 3 et al. As teen, had no idea...that I was in the middle... though it sure was fun hanging those scooplights from Canal St, sniping and misc adventures inc hearing new music every week for free, sometimes same artist a couple of nights in a row.
Avatar 1:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I smell a clicky-star coming on.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm DCE:

@ RTD, Bryce gives plenty o'time to think about clickin' before you can actually CLICK. It's the "consideration" phase, I guess.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm DCE:

we don't want any rash decisions!
Avatar 1:57pm Chris from DC:

This one had me pretty early on. Pre-emptive clicky star.

Avatar 2:08pm Loren:

I'll settle down now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Ike:

Hey folks, the unusual vocal noises is one of the best parts of this show, am I right? At the start of a previous break, it sounded like Bryce was threatening to launch into some throat singing. I kinda wanted to know where that could have gone.
Avatar 2:10pm cd tap:

huh, that Tietchens was even betterer....SIGH...wish I could star it....
Avatar 2:11pm Cheri Pi:

People, I'm in possession of 1 real Ghost pepper and assorted other hot peppers. what do I make with it? never ever seen one in real life.
Avatar 2:12pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:12pm DCE:

be very careful, CP!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm DCE:

I would put that ghost pepper behind glass and just look at it--it'll still burn your eyes out
Avatar 2:13pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I dunno CP but there's got to be a magical indian chili pickle that can be done there...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm DCE:

@ RTD, there will usually be at least one lull here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Crazy! Between habanero & pepper spray says wiki.
Avatar 2:14pm cd tap:

I would bury it and see what comes up in spring...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm Carmichael:

You have a ghost pepper?? Whoa ... Use it like you would any other (spaghetti sauce, salsa, etc ...) but beware of intense monster heat. I had one in a red curry sauce that made me cry for my mommy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:14pm DCE:

cd tap, that might open the portal to the inferno
Avatar 2:15pm Bryce:

if you make an extract of it & carefully inject it into your spinal column, you can selectively burn out just your pain pathway
Avatar 2:15pm Cheri Pi:

I also have 4 hot lemon peppers, never tasted those before either. I really am afraid of this pepper.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Carmichael:

You should be.
Avatar 2:17pm Cheri Pi:

pickles might be the way to go.... or burial.

Yes, many,MANY. maybe sliver it onto pizza
Avatar 2:20pm Bryce:

cheri, did a store have it, or was it mail order?
Avatar 2:20pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I was going to ask about using it in an infused vodka but I'm still stuck on the chili pickle idea...
Avatar 2:22pm Chris from DC:

Ok, now I need chili pickles and beer. Stat.
Avatar 2:23pm Cheri Pi:

My coworker grows them, her husband (from Chile) orders the seeds every year, the dried seeds from the fruit don't regenerate that well she said. They grow tons of these peppers and cook with them in their everyday food. she's bringing in more next week including Scorpion peppers!
Avatar 2:23pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

someone gave me some salt infused with ghost pepper. You then put one grain of the salt in a bowl of food.
Avatar 2:23pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

and eventually work your way up to 5 grains
Avatar 2:25pm Bryce:
