That GROWING piece blew my GOD-DAMNED FACE onto some stranger's face. Now he looks completely insane and I have to ask for it back. Awkward.

Humans here...humans here...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm fred:

@RTD: did that make you smoothly faceless, a horror-movie-face-teared-off zombie, or did you get his face in return? Some of this might make the asking awkward indeed

Playlist. Playlist. More Failure of Playlist@#Fabs Best of 2011?
Avatar 4:04pm Loren:

This sounds pretty much like my day has been... nice to hear reality reflected in culture.
Avatar 4:10pm Cheri Pi:

I'm back! and I'm nibbling on hummus w/pretzels and hot sauce.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:11pm Cory:

sounds tasty Cheri
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm DCE:

I was just eating these Triscuits made with brown rice and red beans. They're actually pretty good.
Avatar 4:15pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

WAAAH, I'm gonna miss the Generator thing. I'll have to visit the venue & punch myself innaface.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Carmichael:

Preceded by William Berger, this appears to be a wholly different kind of failure.

I just ate some greasy tacos!

Loren, are you going to the Rube tonight?
  4:16pm Marmalade Kitty:

I've just eaten half of a LARGE swiss roll!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm steve:

oh man, i gotta get over to AVA
  4:18pm Soren:

People understand me so poorly that they don't even understand my complaint about them not understanding me.
Avatar 4:21pm duke:

I just ate some yogurt and peanut butter toast.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Ike:

I don't always listen to Scharpling's show, but I tuned in on Tues. night and he played a totally awesome thing, the Frankie Teardrop Audio Collage, made out of pure madness. Almost Fabio-esque.
Avatar 4:24pm Loren:

"Are you out of your firkin mind!?"

Oh man, Carm, the Rube sounds like a plan... unfortunately, I'm so damn exhausted, it would not be fun for me and the folks sitting next to me. It is one of those places where they should have a sign that says: NO SAD BASTARDS ALLOWED. Thus, I would not be admitted today.
Avatar 4:27pm Loren:

I've got to mind wrestle and exchange poorly worded rhetoric with someone, be back in a bit. Fabio, could you put the show on hold till I get back? Thanks, appreciate it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm steve:

Ike - he's actually done that a few times over the past few weeks but this past's Tuesdays blew my freakin mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm Carmichael:

Loren, that would knock out about half the current clientele. But I'll tell you what: for the next month, I will wear FMU T-shirts exclusively while visiting the Rube. You'll find me sooner or later.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Ike:

I'm not taking a nap. I'm doing something less important than that -- working. (J/k.)

  4:57pm common:

Rev. Turnip...I agree! This is my happening and it freaks me out!
  4:57pm shandra:

How many times has fabio seen these film???
Avatar 4:59pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

0:45 into this piece and already it's a clicky-star in waiting.
Avatar 5:04pm Chris from DC:

Clicky star just for the intro to the next one.
Avatar 5:04pm Fredericks:

Signed in to favorite Paradise Island. Very nice Mr. O.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Carmichael:

Who are these filthy hippies, Fabio??
Avatar 5:13pm kirk from beer city usa:

why does this remind me of Janes Addiction?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm tim from champaign:

Kirk, I was just thinking the same thing - ha!
  5:16pm Shamu:

Kirk, me too. I was thinking that they should acknowledge Jane's Addiction, there are so many similarities it can't be an accident.
Avatar 5:16pm Chris from DC:

Hala Strana, nice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm fred:

I'm getting tired of clicky-staring these guys (Guardian Alien). I wish I had a chance to see them live now. But according to their tumblr, it's not in the cards for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:19pm steve:

wow i was thinking that also about Jane's Addiction
  5:21pm Flay:

I say potato
Avatar 5:22pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

completely ignorant of all things Jane's Sad Diction. I thought they were some kind of proto-grungey indie-rock thing, but then, I'm often an idiot.
Avatar 5:22pm kirk from beer city usa:

That's funny; right when I was thinking that maybe you weren't out there, Tim.

  5:22pm Two cents:

Leave me alone, tough guy
Avatar 5:24pm kirk from beer city usa:

craving some Residents
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm fred:

Me too, RTD. I might have to check them out. I'm probably more often an idiot than you are, too. It's grown into a full time thing for me, and I take pride in my craft
  5:28pm Shamu:

Do we have some residents on the board? When did they last put out some new music?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:28pm tim from champaign:

Hey Kirk, does BM ever hang out on WFMU?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm fred:

Every village needs an idiot = nice job outlook
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:29pm Ike:

RTD & Fred, I found that track much more fun than a lot of Jane's A. because the whiny squeaky vocals were mixed a LOT lower than Jane's. Or they didn't quite hit that same eardrum-piercing EEEEP. I have a weird thing about some vocals though, so don't take me to be indicative of anything.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:32pm fred:

@Ike: that reminds me of how I would prefer to turn the bass up on my EQ when listening to PiL's metal box
Avatar 5:32pm Jeremy N:

Hey Fabio, can you shed any light on who might be behind that Zanagoria LP? I found a copy ages ago and found zilch about it except Keith Fullerton Whitman wondering same... Also, you picked my fave track!
Avatar 5:33pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Ike: likewise, I have a weird thing about vocals. In my case it's: I dislike 99% of it all. Folks just need to stop mewling about & make the noise.
  5:34pm Shamu:

Hey Ike, I hear you on that. If I were in a band I would not want to sound so much like some other band, especially a famous one. Oranganality, man.
Avatar 5:37pm kirk from beer city usa:

@Tim: Not that I know of. On a related note, I feel that WIDR (or any free-form station that is online) should emulate WFMU as much as possible, including this listener chat thing here. It's fun!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:40pm fred:

@RTD: Mostly agreed, but I'll grant Keiji Haino an exemption. I've purely vocal shows of him that had more noise than most noise bands, and made people leave covering their ears, always a good sign
Avatar 5:40pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

My wife & I have this conversation sometimes: folks clearly hear music differently. She's very vocal & lyric focused, but I never pick up on words & meaning. It's just vocal sounds mostly.

It's realism vs. escapism. I'd rather not stay rooted to this plane when the headphones are on. Relating to another human spirit and soaking in their drama is NOT NOT NOT NOT why I digs zee musicks.
Avatar 5:41pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

oh hell, Fred: vox as sound-art opens up a whole different thing. Amen to that.
  5:41pm Brett:

I love Indian music like that soooo much!
  5:42pm Shamu:

Hey Fabio, I love this raga. There is a great comp from the Darjeeling that has a lot of great music, wonderful selections of some Indian, classical, and pop.
Avatar 5:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Gundecha Brothers (dhrupad) = perfect example of vocal awesomeness. ok, i shutup now.
  5:43pm Shamu:

me losing ability to write...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm fred:

@RTD: unsolicited tip: enough beersies can turn an insightful singer-songwriter into sound art. Though whisky reaches the goal quicker
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Carmichael:

Its no mistake that Can is so popular. You can sing sounds instead of words. They actually sound much better to me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm Cory:

Yay whisky!!
  5:49pm nic:

crazy_love this
Avatar 5:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

  5:49pm Shamu:

Lassie come home!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Ike:

I definitely love some vocalists and a few lyrics, but that's usually secondary to the music for me, at least outside of a bit of classic country and a few other things.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50pm fred:

(I had just noticed there had been so mention of beersies so far, this just wasn't right)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm fred:

@Carmichael: amen to that
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm Carmichael:

Fred, I had a subtle discussion with Loren awhile back about our favorite boozer. But you're right, no overt beersy shout out. Thank you for fixing this problem.
Avatar 5:54pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

That Unbecoming track just got the snot star-clicked out of it.
  5:55pm Shamu:

fistula=flesh corridor
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Cory:

Clay is right about C.W. en.wikipedia.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm fred:

Thanks Fabio!
Avatar 5:58pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Beautiful stuff cap'n.
  6:00pm Marmalade Kitty:

there are songs I've listened to for years, and only much later come to comprehend the lyrical content.. nice surprise occasionally. Thought it was mee just being dumb, but I'm in good company, so, not so!
  11:38am raga:

The "Unknown Artist" playing the raga is almost certainly Ustad Bismillah Khan.
