Options Brian Turner: Playlist from July 23, 2013 Options

Order and disorder in a freeform haze of terribly-played guitars, shorted-out electronics, found audio detritus, strange sounds from strange lands all around. Psych-punk-junk, collage, even pop. Lots of in-studio live performances to boot.

Man, first I split my pants this morning and THEN I miss Eddie Murphy on BT's show. What a day.....
Swag For Life Member 4:38pm phat:

Wow, I haven't heard a folkie in awhile that I've liked. This, however, is fantastic.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:38pm tim from champaign:

Cecile, how was the Grumpy's show?
Avatar 4:39pm Brian Turner:

Survey says!
Avatar 4:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

tim, your karma will be repaired with some to spare if you catch Kenny G on the Colbert Report. I betcha.
Swag For Life Member 4:40pm phat:

not that this is really "folk" or anything, but I think you know what I mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm Carmichael:

Hiya Bt and g'day mates.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:40pm tim from champaign:

I don't know, RTD. I've blown out quite a few pants in my time.
Avatar 4:43pm Cecile:

Oh, Die Kreuzen were great. Mudhoney were pretty good. Hepa/Titus (former Cows members) were puzzling but did a really good version of "I'm A Sieve". There weren't as many people as I thought there would be there. They may have all bailed after the Melvins. Who knows? But a good show and a good day to have it.
Avatar 4:44pm Cecile:

Tell him to bring Sardine.
Avatar 4:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

damn. extra-curious now about hepa/titus. Cows-related "puzzling" sounds like a winner.
Avatar 4:45pm Cecile:

I didn't know if it was puzzling good or puzzling bad and it was actually a little dull at times.
Avatar 4:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

whoa, missing foundation reissues... i swooneth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm tim from champaign:

That's cool, Cecile. Interesting about the Hepa/Titus. I wish Die Kreuzen could have played on the Melvins/Mudhoney show I caught in Milwaukee.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Carmichael:

RTD, how did you figure out who's on Colbert? Even his own website is missing such basic info.
Avatar 4:48pm Cheri Pi:

Late! checking to say HELL YEaH about Feral Ohms.
Avatar 4:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Carm: I think it was a WFMU tweet on thee tweeter. Could be an early April Fools; you know how reliable THOSE dudes are.
Avatar 4:50pm Cecile:

They still have it. I have to post my pix on Twitter.
I got a short vid of a Keith Brammer douhair flip. The minute that guy grew out his hair, it was pure metal hair for him. Dan and the drummer look the same, except Dan has dreads. Herman looks like an insurance agent, but he still kicks ass. Keith looks like a member of Poison or Faster Pussycat on an oldies tour. But God bless him, he still brings it.
Avatar 4:50pm Cecile:

Double hair flip! Gah! can't spell today.
Avatar 4:50pm Cecile:

Brian, dude, if you could play some Die Kreuzen, that would be awesome.
Avatar 4:51pm Cecile:

Oh, and I missed Negative Approach because I was waiting for an f'ing bus. :(
Avatar 4:54pm Cecile:

Avatar 4:54pm Cheri Pi:

Wait! -no Richard Dawson time-lord traveller chatter? Who are you people? that sucks Ceclie.
Avatar 4:55pm Cecile:

Well, I was a little peeved but I was really there for Die Kreuzen.
Avatar 4:55pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 4:57pm Cecile:

And someone started moshing and pissed me off so I threw an empty cup at his head. hahahahaha. I still hate mosh pits.
  4:58pm Joanie Balogny:

I love this Cured Pink.
Avatar 4:59pm Cheri Pi:

What JB said. hahahaah C$, I'm glad you got to throw a cup. I'm gonna try that next time.
Avatar 5:00pm Cecile:

It worked for about 3 minutes.
Then I stole someone's cab, but they totally deserved it. Long story.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm tim from champaign:

Good move, Cecile.
Avatar 5:00pm Cecile:

Best T-Rex cover ever.
Avatar 5:01pm Cheri Pi:

Tell it later, I def want to hear it.
Avatar 5:05pm Cecile:

ok, here it is. It's not that long. I call my cab on the phone cause that's what you do in Mpls. Some guy and his girlfriends is ranting at the top of his lungs because no cabs will stop for him, and we're all a bunch of hicks, and blah blah. They go back in the bar. His cab shows up, and dude's driver shows up and tries to call him and call him and call him. I ask the driver if I can take his cab, and he's cool with it. I'm leaving just as my cab comes, and I see them running toward the door. hahahaha At least my cab got a fare. YOU SNOOZE YOU LOSE.
Avatar 5:06pm Cecile:

oh, I left out that part. Dude finally calls and just screams at the dispatcher.
Avatar 5:06pm Cecile:

That part comes after the ranting about Minneapolis being stupid.

Avatar 5:28pm Cecile:

Avatar 5:42pm Green Mountain Man Mark:

I remember years ago as a young dude hanging out with some relatives up near the border with Quebec. There were some friends of theirs that used to come across the border to party. They were full redneck only difference is that they spoke French.

I'm from Ireland, and we didn't really have any beer variety.
Avatar 5:57pm Green Mountain Man Mark:
