We do what we can.

I'm working, but I'm still here. In two places at one time.
Avatar 3:08pm Droll:

What's this crap about crap?
Avatar 3:08pm Fernando M Pacheco:

Gotta get rid of all this crap. Monastic lifestyle is the only worth living.
Avatar 3:08pm Sem Chumbo:

Hiya, Irwin. Crap, huh? I'm more of a holy crap guy, truth be told.

Can I at least keep my bong?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:09pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

What is the sound of one land crapping?

...that's 'George' - lysdexics untie!...
  3:13pm Listening Out There:

Used to work on a product with a name that had an acronym of "CRAP." Had to provide gentle reminders to the product team of this issue with the name. Computery stuff usually gets turned into an acronym at some point or other...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:15pm Andrew Waterloo:

We once had a Conservative Reform Alliance Party
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:16pm rrg:

There are of course other computing acronyms like that, e.g. CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete). They tend to be adopted with relish, don't you think?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:17pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...anyone left don't know that Carlin routine yet :
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 3:23pm Droll:

rrg, I think they gave CRUD a REST after they gave up ACID.
  3:26pm Listening Out There:

The host sounds healthier this week, compared to last week...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm rrg:

Play them ALL, Irwin. Not just the good ones.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

LOT(sa stuff) : Good point!

People: click on "Crap" for even more (non)crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:31pm rrg:

Been there. Did that.
Avatar 3:32pm WaveyDavey:

"Move Me" would make a good mash-up with Sonny and Cher's "Bang Bang"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...altho' Sonny & Cher & the Sunsets would be...too obvious, yeah...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:35pm rrg:

If "Windy: A Ruthann Friedman Songbook" includes "Windy", I'd like to hear that also.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

rrg: Mandl played it just this week or the other. Good stuff, huh?!
Avatar 3:36pm Irwin:

Joe McGasko interviewed Ruthann last Thursday:
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:37pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Thx for reminder Irwin - must hear!
  3:39pm Woo:

Gang 90 vocals freaked me out there. Same time a guy from maintenance showed up with a ladder to change an air filter. Where am I?

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:42pm rrg:

Turns out that I have a Ruthann Friedman track on a 44-year-old album (one of the WB Loss Leaders).
Avatar 3:44pm Irwin:

Ellis in Wonderland:
Avatar 3:46pm Droll:

I was in the WB Loss Leaders Record Club. Every month I would lick the little stamps with tiny images of the album covers and stick them on the form, which was then mailed in.
Nowadays the only time I use the postal service is to mail in empty prepaid envelopes included in some junk mail. I figure the USPS needs the business.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm rrg:

The USPS doesn't need your business. Let it die in peace.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

"memory and dream are intermixed in this mad universe". (Doctor Sax, p. 5)
- Cheers Irwin: Nice particularly to know personnel & date - altho' Miles did make the point later of frustrating the Jazzbos by omitting that & saying they'll have to Listen...
  3:49pm Woo:

Music Behind DJ is drums and bass from Reach Out in the Darkness by Friend and Lover?
Avatar 3:50pm WaveyDavey:

RRN63: NOOOOOOO! I need my Netflix. Most of the best stuff isn't streaming
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:50pm rrg:

That's what it sounds like, Woo. But it could be an incredible recreation.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm rrg:

Like, Tipsy, or someone like that. But I don't know.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

DigiCrap...they're trying to hold back the revolution to control distribution & get their piece of the pie - as if any genies will stay in bottle in the Age of Aquarius (occult metaphysics reference warning). Why would anyone think they could - based on what evidence?? God Save the King...
Avatar 3:56pm Droll:

RRN, Give it time, this is still just the dawning of the age of Aquarius.
  3:59pm Woo:

What is more of a gas: grazing in the grass or jumpin' Jack Flash? What we know is that they have both been declared as a gas.
Avatar 3:59pm YETI BOB:

Well, James Wolff's album is called "Not For Everybody". So, I won't comment on it ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:01pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- another theory is it's been AofAq since about time of Colombus (electricity & Democratic Revolutions alone would be pretty good support for that) - but 2160 years long yeah - wiki: en.wikipedia.org...

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

That's the second time Joe has used the story of Edward Teller's accident in a romantic context.
Avatar 4:16pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

I've really been enjoying the weekly transition out of my show into Joe Frank. I know you didn't plan it that way, Irwin, but THANK YOU ANYWAY.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:16pm Carmichael:

Hi Irwin, Joe and everyone. Sorry I'm late; I was at the sex barbeque.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm fred:

On the plus side, digital crap takes up less space, and is much easier to dispose of. I should know, some misguided people pay me to generate more of it
Avatar 4:17pm Irwin:

@Kenzo: Actually ...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:19pm fred:

@Kenzo: I missed your show today for what turned out to be no reason at all. I can't wait for the archive
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Pete from Boston (and NJ):

It is so nice to return to my introduction to WFMU 20+ years ago, Joe Frank.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm fred:

I hadn't ever heard such a compelling appeal for human sacrifice. Considering how the alternatives have worked out, it makes some kind of sense
Avatar 4:27pm Kenzo (Ken's Last Ever):

@fred: The archive's already up!
"My Din With Andre." wfmu.org...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- yeah, pretty great - & rare - to come back after this long to a cultural cornerstone like Joe & have it be every bit of the quality it was.
- Now that the Unfictional series is complete, I feel okay Linking to the KCRW iTunes page (you can Download) ... :
- Indeed - from the POV of Magick, Sacrifice makes all too much sense. It might be argued that it's more Civil than Weapons of Mass Destruction & what we do know (often enuff in the name of 'our' God)...
  4:29pm Marmalade Kitty:

that story was similar to Lee Harvey Oswaalds final days..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

MK: ...!...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:31pm Ike:

Irwin, that's a suspiciously anti-consumerist screed at the top of the playlist. Are you endorsing Commie pinko behavior, i.e. NOT constantly buying crap?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:32pm fred:

Thanks Kenzo! I'll wait until tomorrow though, I want to enjoy it at full volume, and my neighbors wouldn't approve (as in would call the cops) at this hour
Avatar 4:33pm Irwin:

@Ike: I buy only TOP SHELF crap.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...it's no problem man: we'll put all the uneducated unemployed people to work making air conditioning! We'll hardly have to change a bit. Vote for Me.
  4:34pm Mike K:

Tony Seymour (Onword-T) writes from Hawaii: "They have this one restaurant where they have these 'original Hawaiians' standing outside in hula skirts....and it is so damn FAKE.....It would be like going to Harlem and seeing brothers outside a theater dressed like Kunta Kinte.......it's an outright embarrassment is what it is."
Avatar 4:35pm Irwin:

@Ike: Producing, marketing, and selling crap is a great way to grow the economy "from the middle."
  4:38pm Alison Porchnik:

This is lulling me into feelinglessness. But in a good way.
Avatar 4:39pm Droll:

Irwin, That's a bunch of crap. But you know what my opinion's worth.

Thank You for Joe Frank. WTF? Purple Haze....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm Ike:

Irwin! I too dislike the episodes of Joe Frank without any Joe Frank in them. Those actors are not as interesting. Not everybody at FMU agrees, as I recall.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

Avatar 4:46pm Irwin:

@Ike: Those episodes are CRAP!
Avatar 4:47pm ann:

Did I just hear you mention Bronwyn C, Irwin? If so.... I missed it -- what did you say? thanks ;-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...I must have them!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:51pm Carmichael:

OK, back for more crap. Let 'er flow, Irwin baby.
  4:52pm tony seymour:

Man I just missed it.......I see you played Not Unlike a Rolling Stone again for the SUMMER crowd.......now enjoying the oddest version of Purple Haze......we are now encroching upon 1000 you tube HITS for STONE........

where the WORDS match the video images EXACTLY.......for a POEM that is a lot of HITS........we poets are like the Rodney Dangerfield of the art world....we "get no respect" except with your show we get that respect! too flippin COOL is what I say.......and THANKS!
Avatar 4:54pm northguineahills:

  4:54pm Mike K:

  4:55pm Alison Porchnik:

Slim Goodbody's unitard fascinated and repulsed me simultaneously.

Avatar 4:56pm Droll:

AP, Thanks, I wasn't planning on sleeping tonight anyhow.
  4:56pm spodiodi:

Fred, Irwin plays crap. The only segment I like is "Legal ID", thankfully it's half the show.
Avatar 5:46pm Andy says hi:

dirty truth is, wfmu drugs our mp3 stream.

...after all - if yer gonna have a Libertarian philosophy of 'every man for himself' - a leetle captive labor force makes it all a whole lot easier...
Avatar 5:51pm Droll:

RRN, Do not conflate libertarianism with anarchy. The Constitution is the definitive Libertarian document, and it definitely does not say "every man for himself".
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm fred:

I do like Jefferson, I can relate to his hypocrisy. I hate his flaws, but I don't exactly like mine either
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:54pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
