Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

A Conversation with FMU Volunteer, Nate
Thanks for listening to this Dusty Double-Feature. Thanks to Andy and Night People for allowing me to fill in. I hope you enjoyed the program. It was a somber but at the same time exciting experience to be part of the Trayon Martin March. It was good to see lots of people in the streets speaking their minds and exercising their rights to protest. Regardless of the outcome of the trial, Trayvon did not die in vain. As with Occupy, he has generated conversation and dialogue about important issues and opened eyes to the need for change. RIP Trayvon Martin. Always remember.

It was good to take some calls and play some records on this episode. I really love playing music on the radio and I wish I could do it more often. It's also great speaking with you listeners and hearing your thoughts, ideas, and feelings about things. You are a unique bunch of people unlike any other.

Now I go to do what I seem to be doing about 1/2 of my life. Putting away records, filing them, going through them. Just lately I've begun to feel like a borderline hoarder. Just a few too many laying around here. Might have to get a table at the record fair and liquidate some stock. Until next time, take care, enjoy your summer and ... always remember.

Welcome to The Dusty Show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm dale:

evening clay! sweating to the oldies up in the country.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Carmichael:

This tragedy was a media-hyped event that millions mindlessly bought into.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Ike:

Hey hey hey hey hey!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:07pm dale:

this makes me think of that speech tom joad gives to his ma at the end of grapes of wrath - as long as a cop's beating a guy - clay will be there.
Avatar 6:07pm northguineahills:

I concur Carmichael.
Avatar 6:08pm glenn:

any right wing morons on today's show?
Avatar 6:08pm Night Al:

Personally, I think the jury got it right. Even though Zimmerman instigated the whole incident, he attacked Zimmerman. Martin should have ran home, not confront someone following him. Neighborhood watch is a good thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Ike:

I haven't been following the details of the case. Do we REALLY know FOR SURE that Martin attacked Zimmerman? Is there any real evidence of that, or is that just Fox News/Drudge bullshit?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:11pm dale:

zimmerman should have gone home LIKE THE POLICE TOLD HIM TO but he continued on and initiated a fight as you say - and the jury got it right?
Avatar 6:11pm Night Al:

How did Zimmerman catch up to Martin. Martin waited to confront Zimmerman. Then he started throwing punches and straddled him. Bad move when the dudes got a gun. As he found out the hard way. Tragedy.
Avatar 6:12pm Clay Pigeon:

Dale, Carmichael, Ike, Glenn, Night Al ... good to see you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:12pm dale:

were you there?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm dale:

only one person is around to tell the story - the way he wants it told.
Avatar 6:14pm Night Al:

It's not illegal for a neighborhood watch person to follow someone. A jurist said the responding veteran cop saying he believed Zimmerman's story about the attack swayed them to acquit.
Avatar 6:16pm glenn:

because of course, the popo never, ever, ever lie.
Avatar 6:16pm Night Al:

This 'stand your ground law' is a bitch. You really got to watch your anger management here in Florida. Just assume the other person is packing heat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Carmichael:

That's my point. None of us were there, nor do we have the faintest idea of what actually occured. But millions across the nation are rioting and screaming, because of what they've heard in the press and believe to be true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm dale:

o.j. was innocent, too.
Avatar 6:17pm glenn:

yeah well. florida can go fuck itself.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:18pm Carmichael:

If Zimmerman was found guilty, all the Jewish Mexicans would be rioting. And they're some TOUGH bastards!
Avatar 6:18pm Night Al:

I served as a jurist on a 'high profile' case once. That whole 'beyond the shadow of a reasonable doubt' thing is drilled in your head first thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:21pm Ike:

Carm, is anybody actually rioting? I don't think so.

But you make a good point, assuming there is still no more evidence of what actually happened than there originally was. The right-wing depiction of what happened can't be proven, but unfortunately it can't be definitely disproven either, can it?
  6:21pm Nate:

I've been to Rev Al Green's church. Great experience!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm dale:

saw al at the beacon back in the 80's he had the vapors from testifyin' and had to be held up by some large bodyguard type folks while he sang.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:23pm Matt from Springfield:

Was stuck at work, but finally freed! Watch as I rush home to listen! :)
Avatar 6:23pm Night Al:

Ban handguns for the citizens. Maybe Zimmerman wouldn't have got out of the truck in the first place.
  6:23pm Bell Beefer:

Thanks for the mention, Clay!
Avatar 6:24pm Clay Pigeon:

Hello Nate and Matt!
Bell Beefer ... always remember.
  6:25pm Rory:

Night Al, I kinda think the same thing. This country just glorifies guns and this is the result.
  6:25pm Nate:

New Jersey's own Isleys! Underrated guitar work! Rules!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:25pm Carmichael:

You were pretty good back in the day, Bell Beefer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm dale:

sister and brother in law in ohio have pistols. won't go into stores like walmart or home depot because they won't let them carry concealed weapons in there. nuts, i tell ya!
Avatar 6:26pm Clay Pigeon:

Hello Rory!
Nate: I heart Ernie Isley!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Carmichael:

I imagine the Skittles people don't really want the attention.
  6:28pm Rory:

Hi Clay! Great show so far.
  6:28pm Nate:

Great coverage, Clay! LOVE this show!
Avatar 6:29pm Clay Pigeon:

Love this Donny Hathaway. Think this is a Nina Simone song. ?
Avatar 6:29pm Night Al:

Protesters blocked a six lane divided highway in L.A. That would make me grab my gun if I was trying to get somewhere. Good thing I don't believe in owning a gun.
Avatar 6:31pm glenn:

so people exercising their constitutional rights upsets you enough to make you want to shoot them? that's mature.
Avatar 6:34pm steve:

Clay I may have missed you saying it, who was that talking head "journalist" just now?
Avatar 6:35pm Clay Pigeon:

Steve, not sure which clip you mean. The most recent was George Zimmerman's brother, Robert Jr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Carmichael:

Is there really a hero and a victim in this whole tragic situation? Seems to me they were two headstrong losers, neither of whom would back off.
Avatar 6:36pm steve:

that must've been it Clay, thanks. great show today!
Avatar 6:36pm Clay Pigeon:

TY Steve. Glad you're listening.
Avatar 6:36pm Night Al:

People have a constitutional right to randomly close a highway because of trial verdict? If you say so. Lighten up Francis.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:37pm Rory:

The racist are basically saying Trayvon was this scary black kid and Zimmerman goes free. USA! USA!
  6:39pm common:

no more guns or cars in my opinion.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

Alice Cooper?
Aww right! Home finally!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

And yes common, melt down every gun and car there is! ;D
  6:42pm common:

yes, matt
Avatar 6:43pm steve:

we can make a big pile of jagged metal for the children to play in!
Avatar 6:43pm glenn:

it's public property. you have the right to protest on public property.
  6:43pm common:

hell yes, glenn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

@steve A mustached-Dan Aykroyd says it's the favorite game of kids!
Avatar 6:45pm Clay Pigeon:

Nice to hear from you Common.
Avatar 6:46pm steve:

Matt, i truly wish i knew what you were referring to (SNL?)
  6:46pm common:

why thank you, clay!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Matt from Springfield:

The Amtrak Autotrain departs from Lorton, VA, just south of me. Its terminus is in Sanford, so I have a distant connection to that area.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

@steve Yessireebob! Look up "Candace Bergen-Dan Aykroyd-consumer safety" or something like that. It's a legendary one!
Avatar 6:50pm steve:

awesome, love some vintage SNL
  6:50pm Bell Beefer:

  6:50pm suprabrew:

Thank you Sooooo Sooo much for the documentary and brilliant choice of music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:50pm Ike:

So that was the audio of Zimmerman's testimony just now? I was not following the trial, so I never heard it before now. Is there any physical evidence to corroborate what he said? We just have to take his word for it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:51pm dale:

mainway toys - the bag o' glass teaches kids about refraction!
Avatar 6:51pm Clay Pigeon:

Trayvon Martin, truly the Emmett Till of this decade. Sad that there's any Emmett Till, for any decade.
  6:56pm Doug C.:

Great radio. A moving and involving show, Thank you.
Avatar 6:56pm glenn:

I still need to head out, however, and already need to catch this Archive. So, still good night from me, to all you Pigeonites!
Avatar 7:08pm glenn:

it's funny how the people who say "you have to move on" are never the people that have been fucked over.
  7:09pm common:

thank you glenn
Avatar 7:14pm Listener 108581:

  7:18pm Nate:

Swag For Life Member 7:23pm spodiodi:

Which state would you prefer, Fredericks?
Avatar 7:26pm glenn:

Avatar 7:26pm Fredericks:

California did a great job for a long time.
  7:30pm common:

my favorite thin lizzy song!!!!!!!!! thanks clay pigeon!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:31pm dale:

i stopped to help a woman with a flat. her spare was one of those little donuts, it had tire plugs in it like it'd had a nail in it, but no air, and she had no jack or lugwrench. had to let her call a tow truck. all my good deed points wasted.

loved phil lynott as the preacher in the war of the worlds album
Avatar 7:31pm Listener 108581:

Clay is such a hippie. Isn't it refreshing?
