The early bird gets the hiss. I'm on standby Tony, waiting for the witching hour.
Avatar 11:53am Tony Coulter:

Heya, Emile & Carmichael!

@ Emile: Thanks much!

@ Carmichael: No hiss today, just regular old freeform.

Avatar 12:11pm Tony Coulter:

Glenn! Heya!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:11pm Rich in Washington:

Greeterings, Tony!

Avatar 12:11pm glenn:

and smote the non believers and heretics with a mighty smiting.
Avatar 12:13pm glenn:

whilst yelling "namaste, motherfucker" with one great voice.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:13pm Carmichael:

And there was none there to greet them, not even no one, saying "Lo, where am I?"
Avatar 12:14pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, Rich in Washington! By the way, are you less rich in Oregon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:14pm pacific standard simon:

Smite me with thy rhythm stick!
Avatar 12:14pm Tony Coulter:

"Please keep stirring my melting pot, 'til I reflect like the moon at night."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm Uncle Michael:

I got nuthin'
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:16pm pacific standard simon:

No, you may NOT lick the spoon!
Avatar 12:16pm northguineahills:

Should we smite the smitten?
Avatar 12:17pm glenn:

you got us, babe.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm pacific standard simon:

And bite the bitten.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:18pm DCE:

glenn, it seems like a long time since I've seen you post. or am I not paying attention?
Avatar 12:18pm glenn:

kite the kitten?
Avatar 12:19pm glenn:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm DCE:

right the written!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:19pm DCE:

well good for you, man!
  12:20pm tahomajohn:

Then Jesus smote the capitalists with a free market and said unto them, "Lo, what you sow you shall also reap... via tax cuts and offshore banking. God bless America." Okay, i just had my second cup of coffee, sorry.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:20pm DCE:

coffee is a helluva drug
Avatar 12:21pm Tony Coulter:

I've been gain-emptily employed.

Hey there, tahomajohn!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:21pm Rich in Washington:

@Tony Coulter: Going to Oregon constantly has made me less rich monetarily, but richer since there's not a whole helluvah lot going on here in my corner of Washington
Avatar 12:22pm northguineahills:

Oddly enough, I comment more now that I'm gainfully employed. Ok, time to pick up my bento box. Cherios Coultieriers!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:22pm pacific standard simon:

Well, Mister Dog
I'm gonna smite you on the top of your head....

If you don't leave my kitten all alone.
Avatar 12:23pm Brian in UK:

Hello Tony & chums.

glenn & tahomajohn well there's a thing.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm Rich in Washington:

David Brooks says men don't want to work in the new work world, where they feel emasculated, like David Brooks.
Avatar 12:23pm Tony Coulter:

Leave that kitten alone, Armone.
Avatar 12:24pm Tony Coulter:

Bienvenuto, Brian in UK!
Avatar 12:24pm Brian in UK:

Is the kitten a Little Willie John reference?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:25pm pacific standard simon:

Ah well, I have a promising interview one week from today... and my unemployment started back up again... considering slacking off the rest of the week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:27pm Carmichael:

You're busy doing nothing, Simon.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:28pm pacific standard simon:

This is true.
  12:28pm tahomajohn:

Hey Tony! Hey Brian in UK:) I am still enjoying the memories of that incredible trip to Istanbul that you helped me navigate last year.. thanks again! Have you been there recently?
Avatar 12:28pm Brian in UK:

Tony do Cardinal cover Arthur Lee's Willow Willow?
Avatar 12:29pm Tony Coulter:

@ Brian: Nope, it's a nerdy proghead reference: it's the name of a Happy the Man song.
Avatar 12:30pm Tony Coulter:

@ Brian, RE "Willow Willow": Indeedy they do.
Avatar 12:31pm Brian in UK:

No john bit dangerous right now, too soon to go back yet. I got a copy of Ara Guler's book, wonderful pictures. You might enjoy. Here is his site.
Avatar 12:32pm Brian in UK:

Tony, love Eric Matthews solo stuff. Not sure about Cardinal personally.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:34pm Carmichael:

I thought I knew all the Happy the Man song titles. Apparently not.
Avatar 12:36pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: It's the opening track on the CD "Beginnings."
Avatar 12:38pm Tony Coulter:

... which is really early, pre-first LP stuff.
Avatar 12:42pm Tony Coulter:

"Standing on a ceiling, trying to get a feeling."
  12:42pm tahomajohn:

@Brian: Great site for Mr. Guler's photos... thanks! I shall peruse and ponder. We stayed for 2 weeks next door to the newly opened Istanbul Photography Museum ... it had opened just a few months before... excellent museum of new and old:)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:45pm pacific standard simon:

This Colosseum track makes me want to go hunt down a live boot of them.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:46pm listener james from westwood:

speaking of istanbul (not constantinople): while working at chemical week magazine, my mom knew a managing editor who was involved in some scheme to build a bridge across the bosphorus. just one of many eccentric folks running around the old mcgraw-hill building in late-50s manhattan, to hear her tell it.
Avatar 12:46pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, L J from W!
  12:50pm tahomajohn:

@Brian: btw, here is a video of our trip to Istanbul last year with music from the street (and Erkin Koray at the end)... almost 20 minutes but if interested you might enjoy... and see some of the places you told us about:) http://youtu.be/y1T3WQTghy4
Avatar 12:55pm Brian in UK:

Thanks john will ckeckout later.

james there is talk of the third bridge going up soon. I went over in '77 just after the first one opened. Like most big cites it has changed beyond recognition in the last thirty years and grown immensely. Please edit Mr copy man!!
Avatar 1:00pm glenn:

chemical week magazine?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:00pm pacific standard simon:

I'm sorry, Mr. Hell, I'm afraid your plan is illegal in this state.
Avatar 1:05pm Tony Coulter:

Ferris, on now, is my court-mandated one Finnish track of the show.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:05pm Uncle Michael:

Loved the psych set, Tony.
Avatar 1:06pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks, Uncle M!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm pacific standard simon:

That was a nice one -- it reminded me of the Grateful Dead docu I was watching last night.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm Uncle Michael:

It's new-batch-of-gazpacho day. The tomatoes are getting better and better.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:06pm listener james from westwood:

glenn: yeah, not sure if it's still in existence as a print pub, or if it was more a journal than a magazine at the time. she said businessweek was elsewhere in the building, too. the bldg itself is a national landmark, apparently.
Avatar 1:07pm Tony Coulter:

Brian McMahon -- he of the Beefheart cover on now -- is in the Electric Eels.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:07pm Uncle Michael:

Which Doc, Simon?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:08pm pacific standard simon:

Anthem To Beauty -- it's on Netflix streaming.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:10pm Uncle Michael:

Simon, that one features a friend of mine, prominently. Stephen Barncard...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm pacific standard simon:

Don't recall which particular old fogey that might be. After Tony's show, though, I'm going to dig out my collection of boots and groove the afternoon away until the All-Star game starts.
Avatar 1:21pm Tony Coulter:

The Italian lunatic is on the lawn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:34pm Uncle Michael:

Maggot Brain!
Avatar 1:35pm Tony Coulter:

I Got Maggots on My Mind.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm listener james from westwood:

indeed! always welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39pm Uncle Michael:

I've told this before..probably when I played this. I saw my first P-Funk show a couple days after Eddie Hazel died. Michael Hampton played an immense Maggot Brain in his honor. It was chilling.
Avatar 1:46pm Tony Coulter:

I've got an immense maggot brain, but I haven't played it in a long time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:51pm Carmichael:

You're hitting all the international proggers, Tony! A little Agitation Free or Nektar would fill in the small remaining void.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52pm Uncle Michael:

Nice doohickey, Carmichael.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm Carmichael:

That there ocarina there? I found it in Cheri Pi's honor, after a discussion a few days back.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:53pm pacific standard simon:

Play "Wild Thing" Carmichael!
Avatar 1:53pm Tony Coulter:

"Four-way windowpane is really great -- but two of them equals eight."
Avatar 2:06pm Tony Coulter:

Today's show has been so mellow, I'll have to play lots of loud and obnoxious music next week.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Uncle Michael:

play loud and obnoxious psych
Avatar 2:11pm Tony Coulter:

No, that's too easy -- I must spread real fear.
Avatar 2:12pm Tony Coulter:

Just yolking, of course -- not getting pompous on ya.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm Uncle Michael:

Pomp away!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Stanley:

Keep it mellow.
I like mellow, especially when I've finished work on a hot day.
Avatar 2:18pm Tony Coulter:

@ Carmichael: some German (semi-) prog is coming up next set.
Avatar 2:19pm Tony Coulter:

Hey, Stanley! Have no fear, I'll keep it mostly mello jello today.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24pm pacific standard simon:

Some mellower King Crimson, like "I Talk To The Wind", would work here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Uncle Michael:

Thrak me.
Avatar 2:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Back now, missed that thing by Ark -- wasn't there a band called ARK w/harvey bainbridge (who became bass & synth for hawkwind)? Same Ark?
Avatar 2:33pm Tony Coulter:

Or maybe, instead of mellow I'll try menacing.
Avatar 2:33pm Tony Coulter:

Hey Turnip! Different Ark.
Avatar 2:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

too many arks in the kitchen.
digging this wacky tabacco...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:36pm Carmichael:

Hay, Mr Tabacco again! I grok his music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:39pm Doug Schulkind:

Just back from swimming in the town pond. Best thing: Water temperature is about 25° warmer than ocean (which is great but cold). Next best thing: No snapping turtles!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:40pm Uncle Michael:

No bait?
Avatar 2:40pm Tony Coulter:

Hey there, turtle-free Doug!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:42pm pacific standard simon:

Doug keeps his turtle bait tucked away.
Avatar 2:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Clearly I haven't been hearing the right Kinks. Never had an opinion, totally ambivalent about those cats. But that was a nicely out piece...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:45pm Doug Schulkind:

Just so long as my toes ain't bait.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:46pm Uncle Michael:

The Kinks utterly rool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:47pm Carmichael:

Clicky star Kensington Market!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Stanley:

@Doug - Town pond? Crikes you never know what you might find in a pond round here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Doug Schulkind:

The only excitement at the pond today is that my wife decided to swim the half mile to the other end and was gone for over an hour. I was thisclose to freaking out and panicking. Turns out she just decided to swim slowly.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm pacific standard simon:

Gotta run & make lunch for the missus -- thanks for the grooooooooovy show, Tony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:54pm listener james from westwood:

howdy, doug! and muchas gracias, tony, for the fine show!
  2:55pm tahomajohn:

Great show Tony! TY!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Stanley:

I feel for you Doug. I suppose she didn't realise the time she was taking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Uncle Michael:

Great stuff, Tony...thanks for the show.

Say high to Yertle, Doug.
Avatar 2:56pm Tony Coulter:

Thanks for showing up everybody! Stay tuned for a word from our sponsor following this out-theme.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Stanley:

Show was a gas, Doug. A mellow gas.
See ya next time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:57pm Uncle Michael:

marsh gas
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Carmichael:

Thanks, Tony!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:58pm Doug Schulkind:

The gas was Tony's. Stanley. He dealt it; we smelt it!
Avatar 3:07pm northguineahills:

Buena suerte, PSS. My unemployment ended a month before my current job started. I just got my first paycheck today (unfortunately, in physical form). But, yaye!
