Listener comments!

  3:12am Madi:

What no comments? (said ironically)
Avatar 3:16am Bill Mac:

Hey Madi. there's a 30 minute late grace period for folks on Saturday morning. I'm not sure if Hawkwind is appropriate breakfast soundtrack music, but noone's ever had a problem with it before.
Avatar 3:18am Andy in Berlin:

Well, I guess it's official - this is a breakfast show
Avatar 3:18am Looms:

All the more official.
Avatar 3:19am KP:

Best to you each morning.
Avatar 3:20am Bill Mac:

Unless you think it should be something else. C'mon you guys have more time to be cleverer than me.
Avatar 3:20am Andy in Berlin:

time to start flippin' those pancakes!
Avatar 3:21am Bill Mac:

@KP - There's something I haven't heard in almost a half century.
Avatar 3:27am KP:

The Kellogg slogan? It 's Grrrrrrrreeeeeaaaatttt!
Avatar 3:29am Andy in Berlin:

As we might remember, the Beatle's Good Morning was based on the Kellogg's commercial from when John was watching a lot of tv in NY
Avatar 3:32am Bill Mac:

More excellent trivia from the breakfast crowd
Avatar 3:32am KP:

My favorite cereal was Life. It had a newspaper on back.
Avatar 3:33am KP:

I am soon to run out of room and lose me head.
Avatar 3:34am Andy in Berlin:

I personally stand by Cheerios. When I moved here, for some reason Cheerios was made here under a license to Nestle who added o's of some other grains to it and we called it Eurios.
  3:36am Martyn:

In Mexico are they called Adios?
Avatar 3:37am Bill Mac:

@KP No reflection on the music I hope.... too much late Friday night?
Avatar 3:43am Jay/London:

Good Morning Bill am making a BIG breakfast as was out late last night .. good that you are back, how's work ?
  3:48am KP:

No music is fine. I'm too lazy though to fire up the desk top computer and the iPhone stops at certain point
Avatar 3:55am Andy in Berlin:

we like tubas too
  3:55am Emile:

hey guys. comments and playlist are disabled on my ipod for some reason, but i'm here...
Avatar 3:56am Andy in Berlin:

@ Emile - so you are just mentally projecting?
Avatar 3:58am Bill Mac:

Hey Emile, good to feel your presents.... presence....
  4:02am Emile:

Pre-cognitive commenting, yes (from my computer downstairs)... going back upstairs now. Will enjoy the rest of the show in a lurking style.
  4:05am KP:

The page does not fit on iPhone and I am too lazy to use real computer
Avatar 4:09am Jay/London:

@ KP are you using the wfmu app or just the web page ?
Avatar 4:09am Andy in Berlin:

I can only listen on my phone, not comment. I have the WFMU app on my tablet though.
  4:14am KP:

Now using app. To do the avatar, I need safari. The safari screen runs out of room. The new format takes up more space. Station manager ken has looked into this
  4:15am KP:

So now on app, no av.
Avatar 4:16am Brian in UK:

Yeeehaaa Cowboys & Cowgurls.Riding the range for errant cattle & listeners.
Thought Kid Congo had The Fall DNA in it.
Avatar 4:18am Jay/London:

@ KP that fine we know what your av looks like .. hey Brian what you been having for breakfast you gone all western ?
Avatar 4:18am Jay/London:

oh great Public Image !!!
Avatar 4:19am Bill Mac:

Yo Brian! Funny you should say Fall - new one next up... You know Kid Congo did some time with Cramps and Gun Club.
Avatar 4:20am Bill Mac:

@Jay - remastered 1st released complete with a second disc interview.
Avatar 4:21am Brian in UK:

Yougurt, chestnut honey 'n fruit. Healthy Cowboy breakfast. Well on the Watford pampas anyway.
Jay you got me talking food when Bill is dreaming of the chuck wagon.
  4:22am KP:

Yeah one look at that is enough
Avatar 4:22am Andy in Berlin:

well you certainly can't go wrong playing the Fall
Avatar 4:24am Jay/London:

@ bill Mac will look it up with view to buy ... hey Brian its the time of day for food i have had such a big breakfast that i can not move now on 3rd coffee bit of a late one last night
Avatar 4:24am Brian in UK:

Funny I was going to comment on the longevity of Mr Smith. There I've done it. ReMARKable man.
  4:25am KP:

So bill I got tix for that London concert w/ Pretty Things the label is putting on. Hard part is airfare and hotel. Mrs. King Penguin is looking into those details.
  4:25am KP:

Remarkable man-ah.
Avatar 4:27am Brian in UK:

@Jay that's what Friday nights are for.

Looking forward to Rob's Tuba rampage.

@KP When are you coming over?
Avatar 4:30am Bill Mac:

@KP That's great - I consider myself lucky to have seen the 4 primary players from SF Sorrow back in '99 - at Maxwells no less... should be happening to see Taylor/May together - got some PTs coming up later in the show.
Avatar 4:30am Brian in UK:

Bill there are some great albums & label names today.
Avatar 4:30am Bill Mac:

@Brian - I likes what I sees on Rob's premium...
Avatar 4:31am Brian in UK:

Where does Defecting Grey figure in their catalogue? Hope I've got the title right.
Avatar 4:32am Bill Mac:

Hope to see the Melvins this summer.... Thirlwell on vox here...
Avatar 4:32am Brian in UK:

Always thought of this as The Return of the Thin White Duck
Avatar 4:35am Bill Mac:

@Brian It might have been a B-side released during the Sorrow sessions. it's a bonus cut on the re-release. Great tune, but I guess since it didn't fit into the song cycle of the concept it was nixed from the original album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44am Stanley:

Blimey, look at the time.
Late up this morning, bit of a boozy time, last night.
Hello Bill, looks like I've missed some good stuff.. God knows what Sex Clark Five sounded like.
Hi Jay, howya doing? Hi Brian, thought you were on the road north today?
Avatar 4:46am Bill Mac:

Hey Stanley, the magic of archive awaits you. Glad yr hear...
  4:47am KP:

Coincidentally just got the Mojo w/ Stones on cover. Inside back cover is story on Twink. He was in band Tomorrow w/ Steve Howe. They broke up and he joined Pretty Things in time for SF Sorrow.
Avatar 4:49am Brian in UK:

Stanley, pay attention, next Saturday. Hope you let some food fall on that beer.
Bill, holiday/sick note now, missing next two Saturdays. Up to the Scottish borders country. Not as far north as Martyn though.
Avatar 4:50am Bill Mac:

I didn't realize he was in Tomorrow. We have an album with him and Nick Salamon (Bevis Frond) collaborating.
  4:55am KP:

Was just listening to Bevis Frond today. They are also on Fruits de mer.
  4:57am KP:

I picked up (bought)a few CDs from Nick and he signed one. They are on three of the four releases we've done for fruits de mer.
Avatar 4:57am Bill Mac:

Check out his releases from around 87-95 too. He's great and apparently quite the authority on psyche music.
  4:59am KP:

Avatar 5:00am Jay/London:

Hey Stanley am doing good on holiday now should have been in new york bit all went a bit Pete tong bruce springsteen was in camden lock market the other day playing onside by himself link www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00am Stanley:

@Brian - oh yes food was also consumed along with my favorite tipple, which is a naughty 7.2%. Got to blathering to my younger colleagues tales of adventure and daring-do of 'When I Was a Younger Man'. Mrs Stanley reigned me in as usual.
Avatar 5:01am Brian in UK:

When Arthur Lee came over in the early 90s. He used a Liverpool band called Shack as backup. When he played a radio interview gig he used Nick Saloman as second guitar. Got it taped somewhere. God bless you Arthur.
Avatar 5:03am Brian in UK:

Stanley 7.2%. Impressed.
  5:03am KP:

And I dig his association with Mary Lou Lord. I had no idea he wrote lights are changing until very recently, she is friendly to me on Facebook, maybe because of nick or because I'm nice, witty and handsome guy
Avatar 5:07am Brian in UK:

Shack formerly Pale Fountains.
Avatar 5:08am Bill Mac:

@KP Modest.... don't forget modest
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:10am Stanley:

This morning every male singer sounds like a future Marc Bolan, had he lived. Just me I suppose.
  5:12am KP:

Modesty forbids me from mentioning how modest I am. Really though we are a local bar band. It's quite a thrill to be doing all this.
Avatar 5:13am Bill Mac:

That last guy sure did - I just hope Marc Bolan wouldn't have to resort to covering John Mellencamp songs to feed his sex and drug habits.
  5:13am KP:

Bill, Did you mean the Fruits de mer release is out on Cd?
Avatar 5:14am Bill Mac:

@KP Just gotta create opportunities for yourself.
Avatar 5:16am Bill Mac:

It could've come in a promo pack, but I have a CD here.
Avatar 5:18am Brian in UK:

Do not have a lot of time for Bolan after the way he treated John Peel.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:18am Stanley:

@Jay-God Camden Market is still the hippest place in the country. I used to buy bootleg albums there when I was a lad.

@Bill - tut, tut, by now Marc would've been long passed all that and be clean living and a health nut!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:21am Stanley:

Been hearing a lot of Howlin Wolf on the station, lately. Has something happened? Has he come back to life?
Avatar 5:22am Brian in UK:

Is this the flaky cartoon cover?
Avatar 5:25am Brian in UK:

Regarding that Springsteen Youtube. Funny how all the old stars look like someones dad these days. Except Richards & Jagger ofcourse.
Avatar 5:28am Steve R:

Fathers Time
Avatar 5:30am Bill Mac:

@Stanley Too much Wolf - a happy accident to be sure!
Avatar 5:31am Bill Mac:

Hey Steve!
Avatar 5:32am Brian in UK:

Saddle up baby, let's get hygher.
Avatar 5:35am Billy Jam:

hey Bill Mac - enjoying your show - listening live for once - been tuned in since Hawkwind - and agree with Stanley on the TRex/M.Bolan similarities with some of the artists played tonite
Avatar 5:37am Jay/London:

@ Brian it's all true .. we all turn into our dads but for the stones there did not seem many people at camden lock must have been early am heading down there after the show before all the tourists get there
Avatar 5:41am Brian in UK:

Love Barrence's 'Stop Twisting my Arm I Already Love You'.
Avatar 5:46am Bill Mac:

His studio stuff doesn't do his live stuff justice.
Avatar 5:47am Bill Mac:

Will the real T Rex please stand up@!
Avatar 5:49am Brian in UK:

Marc Bolan "I am standing up". (cheap comment)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:50am Stanley:

I still like T Rex/Bolan's music. Didn't know about his spat with John Peel. Though I have to say I also fell out with Peel in the only conversation I had with him.
Avatar 5:53am Bill Mac:

You goofed on his comb-over didn't you?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56am Stanley:

Ha ha! It was 1977 I think and we hippies were just turning onto to punk/new wave but John was already a hardcore convert and didn't have time for Zappa/Beefheart/West Coast stuff we were all into at the time. I thought Zappa was a punk in his own way but that didn't work for him.
Avatar 5:57am Bill Mac:

OK peeps, Sailors Hornpipe means it's time to get rolling. Be good till next week... Save those letters!!!
Avatar 5:58am Brian in UK:

See you in July. Stay safe.
Good trip to France, Stanley.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58am Stanley:

Just time to say will miss next week, Bill. Catch you on the archives. Have a good week all.
Terrific show as always.
Avatar 5:59am Jay/London:

thanks Bill see you all next week
  1:58pm Burns:

Thank's for playing my favorite cult pop band Sex Clark Five. Every show has featured different songs and they're all wonderful.
