Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Hi Clay, it may be a rerun but sounds like fun...
Avatar 6:04pm Clay Pigeon:

Pre Occupy. Sometime in 2011. i WANTED to do a new show, but life intervened. So ... you get this. Hi Frances ... davex. !!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:05pm Carmichael:

Heya, Clay. Keep that boogie music comin'!
Avatar 6:05pm Clay Pigeon:

Carmex! Yo!
Avatar 6:05pm Cecile:

hey, all.
Avatar 6:06pm Clay Pigeon:

Cecile ... drawn by the great music. High!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm dale:

one of your three fans checking in. was that dialog at the end of 'evil' from the 70s movie gargoyles?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:06pm Matt from Springfield:

Not a rerun - an ENCORE! This was a great one!
Hi Clay and everyone!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm Matt from Springfield:

For those who want to reminisce or play along, the original set of comments from Sep 15 2011:

What a brief, fleeting moment in the Klay Kronology--right after Irene, right before Occupy. The past is magical.
Avatar 6:08pm Clay Pigeon:

I think it was Tim Curry, Dave. Is that from 'Legend'? -------- TY Matt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:08pm davex:

Hey, it's new to me - and it's some good stuff!
Avatar 6:10pm Clay Pigeon:

All that great LP to cassette to Laptop to cassette fidelity you've come to expect!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:10pm Matt from Springfield:

And Michele Bachmann?! She just announced she's not running for Congress again--PUHLEESE give her a talk show, media! So her dumbassery is still out there all the time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:13pm davex:

I can only describe this as a very lucid and musical stream of consciousness.
Avatar 6:14pm Clay Pigeon:

davex, your compliments are music to my Arbie's battered ears.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:14pm Matt from Springfield:

Arbytron ratings--now featuring reuben sandwiches!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:15pm Carmichael:

My favorite Iron Butterfly song!
Avatar 6:15pm Clay Pigeon:

I'm already in politics withdrawal.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:16pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: My Mom doesn't care much for eggnog, but liked the eggnog milkshakes Arby's once served around Christmastime. Do you recall those being sold at Arby's in the 70s and 80s?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm Matt from Springfield:

"Tom Jones said he passed out after he sang the last note of Thunderball."
Avatar 6:17pm Clay Pigeon:

i LOVE eggnog, Matt. Sad it is so Christmas-intensive. I like Arb's jamocha shakes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:17pm dale:

sound effects during thunderball making me snort my effervescent beverage
Avatar 6:17pm sFrances from VA:

Thx for the archive link, Matt! Scroll down to the bottom of the comments, heh heh.
I was listening back then--but as a podcast instead of live...
Avatar 6:19pm Loren:

Where can I find out about cool live shows happening in London the next couple of weeks?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:19pm Matt from Springfield:

@Frances: My pleazh! And nice getting a comment in there after a year and a half! (But, that's actually not the record! Some comments have been placed on a list 3 years or more after the original episode!)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:20pm davex:

May 31st here now, and I had to turn on the heat. a) This is worrying. b) I hope it goes on.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:22pm Matt from Springfield:

@all: Speaking of which, if you want to "Favorite" any of the songs playing, you can go over to that earlier playlist and star them :)

@davex: Just you wait--the heat is moving west to east, it will get you sooner or later!
Avatar 6:22pm Clay Pigeon:

Not sure Loren, I'm sure one of the Accubatz will help you.
Avatar 6:23pm Loren:

Clay, love the show... how do you find the time to get such amazing narratives from local folks?
  6:23pm common:

i like the set, clay...but i'm melting
Avatar 6:24pm Clay Pigeon:

That time is increasingly hard to come by Loren, but the interesting locals are everywhere and continually fascinating. Thanks for listening.
Avatar 6:25pm Clay Pigeon:

TY common - not even June yet!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:26pm Matt from Springfield:

Yeah Phil Ochs! ♥
Avatar 6:26pm Danne D:

Phil Ochs

Avatar 6:26pm Cecile:

see everyone later, have a great weekend - I'm off tomorrow.
Avatar 6:27pm Danne D:

(Probably my favorite twitter exchange was with Chuck D about Phil Ochs) :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:27pm Matt from Springfield:

See ya Cecile!
And hi ya Mr. D! :)
Avatar 6:27pm Danne D:

Every time I see ya you're leaving Cecile!
Take Care!
Avatar 6:27pm Danne D:

So the new schedule has twice as much Clay I see
Avatar 6:28pm Clay Pigeon:

Bye Cecile. Enjoy your day off!
Avatar 6:29pm Clay Pigeon:

Danne D ... always welcome here!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:29pm Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: Whoa, the real Chuck D??! That's awesome! I imagine they would have a lot in common in their outlook on music.

Btw, do you *remember* the pre-Pigeon Clay? I saw his name in the Archives, I was surprised he's back after a long absence.
Avatar 6:30pm sFrances from VA:

Ah, brings back childhood memories of the Ray Conniff Singers...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:30pm Carmichael:

Pre-Happy Birthday, Cecile!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Carmichael:

Avatar 6:31pm Clay Pigeon:

I think today is Irene Trudel's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY IRENE! We love you!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:31pm Matt from Springfield:

Ha ha, Rick Perry before completely burning out! :D

@Danne: This was a pretty good schedule shift, all my faves stayed on; but Joe McG is on Thurs MORNINGS now?! That could disrupt his mellow, late-night feel, and is kinda inconvenient to me. And Keili on Fri mornings! You like that I'm sure! :) But now I'm going to have to maintain dualing comments on Keili AND Doug Schulkind! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:32pm Matt from Springfield:

HBD, Irene! Always...glad to hear your show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Shoes! An EFD fave!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Matt from Springfield:

TYRANNOSAURUS Rex, the original 60s band of Marc Bolan: "My People Were Fair And Had Sky In Their Hair... But Now They're Content To Wear Stars On Their Brows".. GREAT album name!
Avatar 6:38pm Danne D:

Schedule changes are always interesting - tough competition for slots as always. Happy that Keili is back on :). I do know that Ken likes to shift folks around a bit to give them exposure at a different time and certainly Joe and Keili have been on long enough to move up to the daytime :)

Deed on in a more prime spot is interesting to me. Always good to have more punk on FMU :)
Avatar 6:38pm Danne D:

(though I guess technically it's 2 hours less punk since Deed is going from a 3-hour slot to a 1-hour slot)
Avatar 6:39pm Danne D:

Surprised that U.K. wasn't the "U" :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:40pm Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: 1/3 the time, and prob 3x the listeners--so punk "listener-hours" on WFMU remain constant! :)

Prog band UK! :)
Avatar 6:41pm Clay Pigeon:

Hadn't rekindled my UK fire at that point Danne, and Ursa Major is such a lost classic underground band with Dick Wagner and his later Alice Cooper associations, playing backstage for an addled Glen Buxton in the Muscle of Love era.
Avatar 6:42pm glenn:

booo - gay.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:42pm davex:

Good news: The heat is working in the cold East German night. Matt, I hope you're right about that Jet Stream coming through soon...

As for the schedule, I wonder whether the listenership in different time zones online makes any difference.
Avatar 6:42pm Danne D:

lol - you need not give any reasons Clay - it's all good :)
Avatar 6:43pm Clay Pigeon:

Speaking of upside down bat music, is Julie on the skej? I didn't seem to see her.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:43pm Matt from Springfield:

"Neil Young...Y", NOT "Neil Young, why??" I misunderstood that the first time around. I'm a big fan of Trans, and good to know that Clay is as well!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: 'cause she's at the BOTTOM, Clay! 3-6 in the a.m., as always! ;)

@davex: It's almost summer, I hope it warms up a little for you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

Computer RAGE!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:45pm dale:

i have landing on water with all of one play on it. should revisit it
Avatar 6:45pm Clay Pigeon:

davex - du bist ein musik lieber! Zehr gut!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:47pm Matt from Springfield:

@davex: Oh yes, be forewarned: Clay speaks ein bisschen Deutsch, and is happy to throw it around at any opportunity! Even if it means going to the hospital, with only a headache! ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm davex:

Matt: This is not normal for this time of year. By the way, are you listening over the radio - your comments are on things I don't hear for a long while.

Clay: Haha, that's right, although I'm originally from New York. Been here for a good long time though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:48pm Matt from Springfield:

@davex: Actually I'm very far from the radio broadcast area of New Jersey/New York City--I'm listening on the Net, outside of Washington DC. But as Ken and Andy demonstrated on their show, the lag time between different listeners, in different places, using different streams can be very significant.
Avatar 6:51pm Clay Pigeon:

This Livingston Taylor LP is actually very good.
Avatar 6:51pm sFrances from VA:

@Clay: I was hoping you were going to play something from the Taylor lp
Avatar 6:52pm Clay Pigeon:

Roslyn Kind sings Harry Nillson. Nilsson?
Avatar 6:52pm sFrances from VA:

it sounded lovely/what you played
Avatar 6:53pm Clay Pigeon:

If I get to do a 3-hour fill-in sometime, I'll play more than Cliff Notes versions of these things!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Two Ss - Nilsson. Three Ss, in Schmilsson.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm Matt from Springfield:

Oooh! Spaced-out "Good Night"! Post the songs soon, Clay, so I can Favorite this! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:53pm davex:

Matt: Yes, I actually heard the lag show, but after the fact, so I couldn't call in. My lag is generally not too bad, though - I think, anyway.
  6:54pm Nate:

Marteeeeeeeeeee! That's my boy!
  6:54pm Fran Blanche:

Hi Clay - Roslyn Kind is Barbara Streisand's sister.
Avatar 6:55pm Danne D:

Back in the day I know I did a one comment per minute clip on the SUW board.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:55pm Matt from Springfield:

@Fran: Thank you, didn't know that factoid!
Avatar 6:55pm Clay Pigeon:

Guess I'd better write my goodbyes. Night People cometh. Thanks for listening and for your continued loyalty. I will try to earn the honor of being kept by FMU in this slot. I don't take it lightly, though it may seem like I do. Have a nice weekend all. See you next week. Stay tuned for the TNP! Always remember ........

WOW Fran ... I didn't know. Limited research. You are schmartt!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Matt from Springfield:

@Danne: And to think that some big-city elitists want to LIMIT the size of our comment clips!!! ;)
  6:56pm Fran Blanche:

She's in my collection too Clay! :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:57pm davex:

Thanks, Clay. Have a good night and weekend!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:58pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: Acting like you take it lightly is what we all like about your show! :)

Excellent show as always--even better the second time around! Better still with fresh new comments and a fresh new 15 minutes at the end!

Have a good night, and take care everyone--Remember! All your yesterdays, todays and tomorrows!
  10:22am Matthew Koons:

Clay ... I bow to the master. Great songs. Well done. And that Tom Jones song has left me SPEECHLESS. Wow. Also gave you a shout out on my FB to you. Wow. Wow. Wow.
