Earlier today I was listening to Ike & Tina doing a super raunchy version of their cover of "I've Been Loving You Long" (Carnegie Hall 1971) WAY more raunchy than the Altamont version www.youtube.com...

Avatar 12:51am

Holly, I think Greg & Cher were coked out of their minds and don't remember a thing.

JMcG, Jazzers were notorious for re-releasing the same song under a new name. Looks like "Strokin'" is 5-6 years of refinement on that riff.

Did Clarence Carter say "cell phone" on that last song?

@Droll: That's a good one. It has that little James Brown break in the middle, though, I think. Doesn't it?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:45am

Harpsi-Boogie, agree on both halves of that title! This is an art form due for revival.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46am
Stevel:

Only song I can think of is Meantime, by Helmet. Not exactly a hit song, and not sure it doesn't move off of the one chord.

Harpsi-Boogie is the next Macarana.
Avatar 1:47am
Droll:

JMcG, It may have a transitional, but I think of it as a single-chord song. Damn close if it isn't, great song anyhow, and Tom Jones does a smokin' cover.

Avatar 1:54am

TNK - 1 chord for sure! Great call!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am
Matt from Springfield:

That's true Officer, they said it's all in C, all was played on guitar on the demo tape. Though ultimately that has many sounds piled on top of the underlying tambura.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am

Droll: Its just kinky enough to be NRA. (Slapping leather, and all.)

Hi Joe, Hey KP! Hi everyone!

Skinny Girls/Make you fee gigantic! An ode to anorexia.

That song seems super obnoxious, but he's like Randy Newman in that he's always planting kickers in his songs. The kicker in that one is "skinny girls always say goodbye." In other words, they leave the dope!

I think I saw a copy, the LP, at a record faire once. Kind'a 3D picture on the cover. Guy in space...or maybe in a...space suit or sumtin'?
Avatar 2:44am
Joe McG:

@hj: Yeah, he's kind of a romantic poet captain floating in space. Major 3D collector's action on that one. I saw it once for a decent price but didn't buy 'cause it had a scratch on a track. Probably should've bought it.
  2:45am
KP:

Who is Emily. That was kind of outstanding
Avatar 2:47am

@KP: Emily was a 16 year old girl who went to Paris, wrote a bunch of songs, recorded them with a French psych band called Dynastie Crisis, and then came home when it did nothing.
