Are you the bear?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:11pm Carmichael:

I am the Bro. And Kurt is The Man.
Avatar 3:12pm northguineahills:

Just had dogfish head midas touch ancient ale. It was heavenly!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm G:

my uncle lives over the back fence from the dogfish head owner in milton, DE. they are building one bigass factory outside of town to make more of it, because people seem to like it :p
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:14pm Andrew Waterloo:

This makes me want to sing the Arbor Day Foundation tree song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:18pm G:

i think my toilet is dripping or running intermittently. or is that the playlist? :)

Avatar 3:20pm dc pat:

I'm on the phone right now and I want beer even more now...
Avatar 3:21pm dc pat:

G. You have a leaky flapper. Take her to the hardware store.

Avatar 3:22pm I X Key!:

Is this a C/F# tritone?
  3:23pm emmagineering:

do3s one call him "djkG"in person?!? asking for a fiend
Avatar 3:23pm northguineahills:

G: That news is soooo welcome!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:23pm G:

I was thinking so, dc pat. it fills up, gets quiet, leaks, dribbles, fills back up again, every few seconds. it's almost musical, really.
Avatar 3:24pm Cheri Pi:

That's right DCP@, you worked on a toity last year. i changed the flush-bar handle thingy and now it seems like it takes forever to fill up. how are the 2 related, or did i knock something around?
Avatar 3:25pm still b/p:

I'm assuming there are leaky flappers in that new Gatsby picture.
Avatar 3:27pm Cheri Pi:

@g- it sounds like the water level is set to high, in my opinin so it's draining itself. Don't listen to me i know nothing!
Avatar 3:27pm Cheri Pi:

where is my spelling????
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Mike East:

man, flash is really fuckin me up today
Avatar 3:29pm northguineahills:

somewhat on topic: Rubaiyats of the Cicadas. parenthesismusic.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:29pm Mike East:

pardon my language, its been a rough week
Avatar 3:30pm Cheri Pi:

yeah, flash is fucking with me too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:30pm G:

@ngh: I was out there after Christmas and the factory shell seemed in place, maybe 5-6 story size and hundreds of feet long, with a couple of cranes still up. I imagine it is set to open this year? I'll see more in July (family get together).

My uncle's backyard brick oven and hand starred for about ten seconds in a cable tv show where the Dogfish founder was mock-up demo-ing how Egyptians made beer from bread, and showing how that could still be done.
Avatar 3:31pm northguineahills:

I've been looking for the dogfish head ale for 8 years, and I just found it at my Korean grocer.
Avatar 3:32pm Cheri Pi:

Dogfish Ale= perfection.
Avatar 3:34pm northguineahills:

That specific ale. Now, if I can find the rest of the ancient ales, I can return to Valhalla.
Avatar 3:36pm dc pat:

Dogfish is good but a bit rough--little out of balance for my tastes.

Yeah, I ripped out a toilet and put a new one in. It was pretty easy really. If you have a slow drip and then it runs by it self, the flapper is the culprit. It's a $5 fix.

@Pi: not sure the flush bar thingy and the speed of the water coming in are related. Did you try opening the valve more?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:36pm G:

My guess would be that ramping up to wide distribution is a far harder beer business problem than finding a great beer recipe!
Avatar 3:37pm northguineahills:

Full disclosure: Rubaiyats of the Cicadas is my band.
Avatar 3:39pm dc pat:

beer is 20% off at the local store, got 6 Point 3 Bean, and NC Brother Thelonious.
Avatar 3:40pm northguineahills:

DfH's Midas Touch ale is surprisingly smooth, even w/ a myriad of flavors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Carmichael:

@Cheri: it depends on what type of float mechanism you have. I used to have the round ball on the end of a pole. My new float is wrapped around a bar and slides up and down with the water. Sometimes there's a hose that sends water into the tank, and that can kink or clog.

Toilet Talk.
Avatar 3:40pm dc pat:

ngh: yeah, I like Midas Touch. Hard to find/afford though.
Avatar 3:41pm dc pat:

we've gone from food talk to toilet talk.
Avatar 3:42pm still b/p:

Whenever the Dogfish 60 and 90 are offered at the same place, the pacing caution that we discussed in comments the other day always steers me to the 60. I need to make a nice evening moment for m'self this summer with a 90.

From just 2 Baxter Stowaway IPAs last night, I have the mild headache. I will meet friends downtown in two hours to undergo the reliable treatment.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:45pm Carmichael:

@NGH: North Coast has some excellent ales. I just went to the brewery about a month ago. Very small place, actually, up in the middle of nowhere.
Avatar 3:46pm Cheri Pi:

@Carms-there's no float at all, but there is a hose that goes into the "thing' with the flapper. You're saying I should have a few beers, then fiddle around w/ the hose?i accept!
Avatar 3:48pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Might have landed a contract gig at a decent place, which means I'll be joining the beersies festivities shortly. It's like nasty summer out here so....... a strong Belgian, perhaps?
Avatar 3:48pm Cheri Pi:

What does opening the valve more mean, DCP? i have a black mechanism on the left that looks like it's from starwars, and a central up and down thing in the middle, that's it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm G:

We could easily combine these threads quite efficiently by discussing what would happen if we refitted a toilet to run on beer we thought wasn't worth drinking.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:48pm Carmichael:

Did anyone else just lose the stream?
Avatar 3:49pm Cheri Pi:

Congrats Pappy T-nips!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm G:

i've been losing the stream every four seconds for half an hour :)
Avatar 3:49pm northguineahills:

@G: I volunteer for that experiment

Yeah, the stream keeps on ducking in and out, albeit, briefly.
Avatar 3:49pm Cheri Pi:

the stream is squirrely today Carms.
Avatar 3:50pm Eyepatch Fox:

When I reload it comes back for a while, and then it starts cutting out again.
Avatar 3:50pm Cheri Pi:

has someone tried opening up the stream's cover and pouring in a beer?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm G:

i had the volume low, so that's how i managed to introduce an intermittently running toilet sound onto the board 0:-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:51pm Carmichael:

Here you go, Cheri: home.howstuffworks.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Gary Da S.:

squirrely? you say that like it's a *bad* thing!
Avatar 3:55pm Cheri Pi:

Aha! thanks Carmichael. I'll experiemnt when i get home. No, squirrely is just you know, wiggly and stuff. like this stream who needs god's beer now.
Avatar 3:56pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The squirrels are darting in and out like a nightmare of beer robots.
Avatar 3:56pm northguineahills:

Evil Bender?
Avatar 3:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Avatar 3:57pm Cheri Pi:

this stream should be thick and ropey, instead it's squirrely and seizurely.
Avatar 3:59pm northguineahills:

Huh, you can fave an interview, that's new. Huh, spellcheck stopped picking up fave but still picks up spellcheck.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Carmichael:

Avatar 4:01pm still b/p:

Frank coulda endorsed a travel bag called the Rat Packer.

Avatar 4:09pm northguineahills:

Weird, I have the exact same comp, but on vinyl, usually I see this version on other comps or as the original single.
Avatar 4:19pm Green Mountain Man Mark:

@NGH That Korean grocer probably saw the word dog and ordered it.
Avatar 4:21pm Kurt Gottschalk:

good day, everyone! sorry i've been to busy for proper hellos. thanks for tuning in!
Avatar 4:22pm Cheri Pi:

KG-he lives!
Avatar 4:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

There are no "proper hellos," only beer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:27pm Carmichael:

I thought this was Bob & Ray upon 1st listening.
Avatar 4:28pm still b/p:

Apparently Ben Franklin can't claim the beer line often attributed to him, but many others have put their quotable two sips in:
Avatar 4:29pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

so much great sample-meat in the old Bob & Ray material...
  4:32pm still b/p:

Some of these lyrics trip a nice bit of nostalgia tied to the 70s version.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Carmichael:

Oh, that's right. It IS B&R. I remember reading about this ad campaign they did.
Avatar 4:37pm northguineahills:

In FL, I think we had annual and proto-periodical cicadas.
Avatar 4:39pm northguineahills:

Never heard this Mack B,a tight spring jam!!!
  4:39pm still b/p:

I'm certain the phrase "proto-periodical cicadas" would be a great percussive backing chant.
Avatar 4:44pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

oh I'll be recording the SCHNIZZIT out of them cicada dudes. And then my dog (who possesses a suicidal sense of adventure) will consume them all.
Avatar 4:45pm Cheri Pi:

Gomez is a legend in his insect neighborhood.
Avatar 4:47pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

His encounter with a large "house centipede" recently must have been his first bona fide psychedelic experience.
Avatar 4:49pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

rumor has it they're a bit toxic...
Avatar 4:50pm Cheri Pi:

Brother JT had him on as a guest on 'Trippin Balls"
Avatar 4:51pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...Bro.JT's Trippin' Balls: the very reason Jesus gave us YouTube.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:52pm G:

there's tons of buzz around Cicada Leo Smith
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Mike East:

Wadada called us looking for harps a few weeks back...order was no go...harps are expensive as shit.
Avatar 4:56pm Kurt Gottschalk:

mikeast - was that in the nyc area? he had a harpist all three nights at roulette and she didn't have much to do!
Avatar 4:56pm northguineahills:

Just found out the Copa del Rey final is streaming online, Atletico vs Real. suitable soundtrack this is.

Wadada is a genius!
Avatar 4:58pm Kurt Gottschalk:

MN Jeff's drumming bug gif works nicely with the specials.
Avatar 4:59pm northguineahills:

My subs are getting a workout!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:00pm Mike East:

yes, for roulette....we gotta keep pouring cash into maintaining those things, so I can't do much about discounting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:02pm Mike East:

I like him because he makes the call looking for harps and studio time etc himself, rather than a management company or assistant. Another guy like that is Brian Richie from Violent Femmes who came to pickup a marimba himself and wheeled it over to the recording studio. I like artists who take things into their own hands.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm G:

@mike: Hypothesis: some people are all about the music. some people are all about the status. some people are somewhere along the continuum between the two extremes.

ah. he helped with the move and then moved on, as i recall.

I don't have this loud enough to hear what they're saying...but I really like the sound of this...Its just what I need right now.
  5:38pm RUBY:

Laurie Anderson flavour. Also what I need.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:38pm Carmichael:

If you have bad beer, ngh, cast it out!!
Avatar 5:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

I had to tear myself away from the show and hunt down the "good beer" in the ugly outsideness. It is ugly out there.

But now comes the sweet rewards... made sweeter by a remaining 20 minutes of minotauring...
Avatar 5:40pm Kurt Gottschalk:

i don't know, but i hope and assume laurie anderson gives big props to ashley, who was doing this (more or less) in the '60s.

Avatar 5:46pm Green Mountain Man Mark:

Nothing wrong with drinking mediocre beer. Lots of fine lager mini-macro breweries out there. Genesse, Naraganset, Rolling Rock. These are fine. Seems beer snob hipsters try to make people feel guilty about drinking regular kind of beer. I drink it and enjoy it. And I have tasted the worlds best beers.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm rsj:

I can appreciate the positive qualities of many
  5:49pm RUBY:

Yes yes, DJ delight
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm Carmichael:

My next band will be the Beer Snob Hipsters.
Avatar 5:51pm northguineahills:

Actually, those are mediocre beer selections.
Avatar 5:52pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Played a show in Providence and was exposed to far too much cheap 'gansett (or whatever they call it up there) and i gotta say, it was fairly wretched. But I come from the land of National Bohemian, so it all works out, karma-wise.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm G:

The only truly great beer is the one your friends don't have access to, but you do :)
Avatar 5:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

beer snobbery is expensive. Money is on this earth for records.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm G:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Minnesota Jeff:

Avatar 5:57pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

I love cicadas - but then I've never been covered in them...I love their *sound*...I'm bored w/ beer & getting fat @ the pub & watching 7 screens of sport in general - RedWine the main thing now: Extends life, tastes great, 14-ish% alchyhol...Well - I like Guinness & Sierra Nevada...& reds often...don't know much...
Avatar 5:57pm Green Mountain Man Mark:

People are on Craigslist from the west coast and other places advertising on VT Craigslist begging for VT beer. Especially the Heady Topper and Hill Farmstead. There must have been some travel/food show featuring these. It is ridiculous. Do they want these beers to be hip, or because they want the incredible beer. I have easy access to these beers and they are out of this world phenomenal. But to beg on Craigslist for them? Hmmn.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:59pm robyn:

I can't stand Rolling Rock but I enjoy Miller Lite, Natty Bo, PBR, whatever. Lone Star (in TX) I go back and forth with in terms of whether it's better or worse than PBR.
Avatar 5:59pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:
