Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:04am DCE:

hey Liz!
  9:04am stingy d:

that duex filles was heck full of fly, liz b! whats the realest? i saw you at a pet shop. but i kept it bouncing.

i would like to now solicit info or recomendos for hand held digital recording devices, GO!
Avatar 9:08am Yair Yona:

Good afternoon everyone
Avatar 9:08am Sem Chumbo:

Good morning, Liz. Have a nice slice of chocolate babka.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am Planet Tyler:

Hi Liz - this is off to a good start :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:13am Liz Berg:

Stingy, long time no see! Glad you're still lurking. You shoulda said hi in the pet shop!

Hand-held recording devices... I have an old Roland Edirol, the station has a few lil' Sonys, all are pretty decent. Guess it depends on what you need: good built-in mic and/or adjustable, XLR inputs vs stereo mini, etc. Think we just got a Tascam that takes XLR in, haven't tried it yet, though.
  9:13am BenG:

TGI Monday.
Avatar 9:14am Chris from DC:

The Zoom H2 is a nice reliable recorder, and relatively inexpensive.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:15am Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

...Much mollified: Morning misery ~ morphing mad motorik merriment...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:16am KevinfromBayRidge:

Mornin' all in Berg-land. Don't know much about the recording devices..but the babka sounds great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:21am Liz Berg:

Good to see everyone here, you read my mind about the chocolate babka, Sem!
Avatar 9:23am doca:

morning liz and everyone
Avatar 9:25am doca:

hey liz, whom may i contact to solve something about my pledge? i guess i've clicked somewhere on the marathon page and i pledged twice, but i don't have the money (nor i have chosen the swag, if it's irreversible)
  9:25am stingy d:

yea i'm thinking built-in mic, but don't know if thats the wrong idea. i want to record noises at a outdoor basketball court and also conduct short interviews and make annoying statements from the sidelines. then chop it up into some sort of thing.

also, if anyone wants to join a co-ed bookstore basketball league in brooklyn. i'm your commissioner. total idiot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am Liz Berg:

Hey Doca, drop Joe McGasko a line:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:30am Liz Berg:

Stingy, if you want small and portable with a built-in mic, I'd say go with the Sony. Actually, I'm pretty impressed with the iPhone's recording ability, too.
  9:38am BenG:

For what it's worth, the Android using the App: Hi-Q MP3 Voice Recorder is damn good recording voice and it's MP3 format. I haven't tried it for music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:38am northguineahills:

Digging this Richard Jonas piece.
  9:41am BenG:

BTW, Audacity is open source (aka Free!) audio editing program and it's amazing.
  9:44am stingy d:

oh yea! i have an iphone!!! oh man. unfortunately, i don't have an android, but maybe i can still look into that app?

and the zoom h2, you say. i will do a ton of investigating, so this is all very welcome information. thank you thank you!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Liz Berg:

Stingy, the iPhone has a built-in recording app called "Voice Memos" in Utilities. I'm sure there are others, too. The quality is surprisingly decent (recorded live music with the built-in mic and it sounded damned good).

Do you guys have any preferred DJing programs on a Mac? Believe it or not, I rarely ever use my laptop for playing music. Always jammin Winamp on the studio computers.
  9:54am stingy d:

yea of course, voice memos! i record subway music with that. why i haven't thought of this, is pretty frustratin, honestly.

as for mac dj'ng, i feel like traktor is the thing most fools think is the top jernt. but i dunno whatsoever.
  9:57am BenG:

I don't know much about the DJ thing. My daughter makes that magic. I'll ask her.
Avatar 10:08am Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:08am Lewis:

I just bought a zoom h4n that I am quite pleased with. I bought it to recored ambient noise and the few recodings that I have done with it are quite good. I have not yet used the xlr inputs. It works as directed and moving recordings onto my mac is easy.

wrt DAW. I use audacity to do clean up editing and reaper to do production work. I am still very much a newbie but I think that I am on the right path...
Avatar 10:10am Cecile:

I have a couple of DJ programs I have used on the iPod that I liked. Both had different strengths. I gotta go find my pod for the names.

Also, not really a DJ program, but hysterically fun and funny is Rap Mushi.
  10:15am Greg Red:

The Orchestra-Atmosphere track just made me light some candles and sacrifice a chicken. Very ritualistic that piece. Glad it's not Tuesday, otherwise I'd be in, um, Trouble.
  10:18am stingy d:

cecile, my ace!
Avatar 10:20am Cecile:

how's it going?
Avatar 10:21am Cecile:

Oh, a serious field recording program that I had a lite version of was Heidelberg. You could edit a radio program for broadcast on that thing.
Avatar 10:22am Cecile:

I explored them for a bit as I was hoping to do some recordings of my in-laws and parents, but I figure my Smartpen will be better.
Avatar 10:26am Cecile:

you got some Screen Vinyl Image? They also do this 80s/teens merger really well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am efd:

Program note: Wax Idols will be live on my show on May 8th!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am Liz Berg:

Almost forgot about Screen Vinyl Image, thanks for the reminder!
Avatar 10:32am Cecile:

no problem!
Swag For Life Member 10:33am Ralphine:

This reminds me a little bit of The Apples in Stereo.
Avatar 10:43am KP:

Hey Liz!
Avatar 10:46am stingy d:

  11:14am Rob:

Great set Liz! Always keepin it eclectic!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:15am rsj:

Hey Liz! Finally got dancing on the ceiling out of my head! You were stuck in in there for a while...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:16am Liz Berg:

Ha ha, sorry RSJ, I shouldn't be allowed to sing!
  11:17am blee:

The Pharoah Overlord's guitar lick sounds strangely like the Stooges "Johanna."
Avatar 11:18am Cheri Pi:

heck yeah PO song!
  11:18am blee:

Nothing wrong with that.
Avatar 11:19am Cheri Pi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:23am tim from champaign:

I think I like Purling Hiss's "Double Live Gonzo" sound better than their Nirvana sound.
Avatar 11:23am Cheri Pi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:25am Brian C.:

Dig that Stooges-ey Purling Hiss!
Avatar 11:26am Chris from DC:

New Mudhoney's sounding great.
Avatar 11:27am Jennique:

Is he saying "I hate you Charlemagne?"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:27am tim from champaign:

I think I like Mudhoney's Mudhoney sound as well as their Mudhoney sound.
  11:27am Mike Mack:

Endless Boogie
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:29am Liz Berg:

Jennique! I thought the same thing... "Charlemagne!" It's actually "Chardonnay" which is equally funny.
Avatar 11:29am Cheri Pi:

Liz you are ROCKING me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:33am Stevel:

Charlemagne was a prick.
Avatar 11:35am Jennique:

Thanks for clearing that up Liz, although I bet Charlemagne was an ass. You are revving up the jams! Just favorite-ed Vulture Shit and Manatees. (The manatee is my spirit animal by the way)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37am Carmichael:

Hellooo, Liz. Hi everyone.
Avatar 11:39am Cheri Pi:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:40am Carmichael:

Avatar 11:43am Parq:

And welcome back, D. Please tell us about your adventures in the Punjab.
Avatar 11:45am fearson:

i love the way he touches his computer was hilariously #poignant / thank you
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:45am rsj:

Liz-It was not your singing, I don't get out much. Also, your track was played on the air subsequent.

Chardonnay can be delicious. Charlemagne no love.
Avatar 11:51am fearson:

wow i wish i lived in the ny metro area! all those shows sound glorious
Avatar 11:51am Jennique:

Looks like I need to shop at Target in the mrs. collection for my manatee colored muu-muu.
Avatar 11:53am Jennique:

Liz I'm sure you've seen this, but in case you haven't...
Avatar 11:53am jk:

there's a wonderful animated video to this Bionda song
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:55am G:

Target's manatee sanity has now come into serious question.
  11:56am Marmalade Kitty:

Hello Liz! & all!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:58am Liz Berg:
