What they said.
Avatar 3:19pm dchahahahahahaha:

what Chris said..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:20pm tim from champaign:

Speaking of Kim Jong Un....I know Austin is on his radar. We should keep Austin safe and give him SXSW instead. Kim Jong Un deserves a nobel prize if he can eradicate SXSW.
Avatar 3:21pm dchahahahahahaha:

Television = the best reunion gig I've ever seen. and I was ready to not like it
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I was going to type "Strength Through Kim Jong Un" but went a different route. I don't have time to think here; I'm supposed to be doing work.
Avatar 3:23pm Mr. Lowry:

This is the first time ever that Fabio has played something I have. What does it mean?
  3:23pm gail:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Caryn:

And there needs to be some "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" soundtrack action on the playlists! I actually love that soundtrack, so I would call for that otherwise, too.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm tim from champaign:

Cheri - I feel extremely lucky

dchaha - in Champaign, Il

rtd - that's too bad. Roger Ebert hosts a film festival every year in my town. It's a nice little event. A few years back, Beyond was the headlining film and Strawberry Alarm Clock played live after the film.
Avatar 3:52pm duke:

RIP Roger
Avatar 3:53pm Chris from DC:

RIP Roger. Tim: very cool.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm tim from champaign:

DCH - What's this Brooklyn Chocolate Stout you're drinking a case or 2 of?

did 91.1 just leave the air?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:03pm tim from champaign:

You've got excellent beer tastes, DCH.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Caryn:

Ebert could write some fantastic snarky reviews. I give you a classic from his "Freddie Got Fingered" review: "The day may come when 'Freddy Got Fingered' is seen as a milestone of neo-surrealism. The day may never come when it is seen as funny."
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Carmichael:

Hiya Fabio and acolytes.
  4:04pm Jerry:

Never mind, it's back.
Avatar 4:04pm Bilk Linton:

RIP Ebert. Great writer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm cklequ:

@dch I've been drinking a lot of Southern Tier recently beeradvocate.com...
Avatar 4:05pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Caryn: good call on that soundtrack. I've got the CD issue that couples it with the Groupie Girl soundtrack. Great listening.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Andrew Waterloo:

I was really enjoying his Twitter/Facebook feeds. He was exposing a lot of great stuff.
Avatar 4:07pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

When I was a teenager, used to make audio recordings of the Siskel & Ebert show when it was on PBS (at the movies), no idea why. But I still have audio of them reviewing Time Bandits, Alien, Tron, etc... in a pile of tapes somewhere.
  4:08pm dale:

this btvotd trailer is wacky:

  4:12pm common:

Rev. Turnip: I remember that Alien review.

NGH: my neighborhood shop used to get the Southern Tier oatmeal stout but haven't seen it since last year or so. It's a great one.
Avatar 4:16pm glenn:

gaylord was saying something (on matt's playlist) about ebert being obsessed with breasts. and i say - what's wrong with that?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:17pm tim from champaign:

dch - I'm tea totalling until mid May (until Blackout Fest ironically). There are quite a few of beers I'm so looking forward to particularly Deschutes' line, some new runs of Bells and a new brewery in town called Tryptich.
Avatar 4:18pm Chris from DC:

Hoping to score more Allagash Black soon.
Avatar 4:19pm duke:

I really like the Buzzcocks especially this song.
Avatar 4:19pm slugluv1313:

probably my favorite Buzzcocks song . . . strange listening whilst watching that BTVOTD trailer :)
didn't Lynn Carey from Mama Lion do some of the vocals for The Kelly Affair/The Carrie Nations???

Avatar 4:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Chris/Zeromoon: I will find you with gob agape.
  4:25pm Cecile:

wow, hearing a lot of great vintage Bday Party lately.
  4:25pm Cecile:

wow, I missed really old Swans.
Avatar 4:25pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Lots of Birthday Party recently. Not a bad thing. First thing I ever heard was the Mutiny in Heaven single, which remains the favorite.
Avatar 4:26pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

semi-jinx, cecile.
  4:26pm zeromoon:

Rev. Turnip, i got some Clandestine Artemisia for you tomorrow
  4:26pm Cecile:

That one track that opens with that ear-piercing scream! I looped that sucker to death when I was doing college radio.
Avatar 4:27pm Cheri Pi:

Avatar 4:27pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

OH FUK, my favorite track from the Can box. Pardon me, will be twitching on the floor for a while.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Caryn:

@slugluv: yep, she did. There are two versions of all the Carrie Nation/Kelly Affair songs. Ones with her vocals, and ones with Amy Rushes'.
Avatar 4:28pm Chris from DC:

Up there with "Streetcar" for sure.
Avatar 4:28pm Cecile:

what's with the top-40 Fab, and can you play some Wire or God's Gift?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:29pm steve:

hey RTD... are you the one that said you got the Can vinyl box? how the hell did you find it... i was actively looking for it right when it supposedly came out and couldn't even find anyone in the US selling it
Avatar 4:29pm Cheri Pi:

I have to twitch propped up in this chair. all this talk of beer, and Nac, and things that don't explode is going to send me home very thirsty and ready to rock the fuck out AGAIN!!
Avatar 4:29pm Cecile:

AW. I heard Roger Ebert passed, that's sad.
Avatar 4:30pm northguineahills:

Yeah, I'm w/ Cecile, but I say, go all the way, like something from Fleetwood's Tusk.
Avatar 4:30pm slugluv1313:

ah, Caryn THANK YOU!!! did not know about the two-different-versions!
Avatar 4:32pm Cheri Pi:

I got it too Steve! My Local RS moved heaven and earth to get me the copy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:33pm Caryn:

@slugluv: yeah. Vinyl versions of the soundtrack have one or the other, so you gotta be careful which versions you get. I have the cd, though, and that has both versions of all songs on it. I recommend getting that.
Avatar 4:33pm Cheri Pi:

Here's me with my Nac box.
Avatar 4:35pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Steve: A not-quite-local shop (cd cellar, arlington va) had a few copies of the vinyl edition when it came out, and were good enough to mention it on FB. I immediately responded with a HOLD ONE!!!!! ....and didn't realize how much $$$ it was until I got there. No regrets.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:36pm steve:

dam Cheri... im jealous! its going for $100+ on discogs, which is a lot but not unreasonable. maybe one day when i cash in my penny jar...
Avatar 4:37pm Cheri Pi:

Mine was only $75!!!
Avatar 4:37pm Cecile:

I am happy with my CD box. I got it for a super-reasonable price.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm Caryn:

Kelly Affair first, Fabio.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm steve:

screaming HOLD ONE!! seems like the correct response in that situation
Avatar 4:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

The Carrie Nations was first. Z-Man said it sounded a bit dated, like "the haircuts"... and dubbed 'em the Kelly Affair. If memory serves.
Avatar 4:38pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

And yeh, about $75 for me as well. As Nac Pi said.
Avatar 4:38pm Cheri Pi:

I have to keep them really happy though, I bring baked goods and coffee when I'm able to. Keep your record shop people happy comrades!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:39pm steve:

Cheri if i ever get it i will perfectly recreate your profile photo and say nothing
Avatar 4:39pm Cheri Pi:

What's a few petit-fours here and there, and they pay off in spades.
Avatar 4:39pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Right, Caryn is right. Both of 'em sound like The Haircuts to me...
Avatar 4:40pm Cheri Pi:

Steve, I look forward to the day. Try my method, Baked Goods. And take some time out just to sit on their counter and listen to what THEY have to say for once.
Avatar 4:41pm glenn:

god. if was to keep my record store people happy, it would cost me about 1000$ a week for weed, beer and snacks.
Avatar 4:42pm βrian:

That reminds me: here in wisconsin folks refer to baked goods as "bakery." As in, "We sell bakery." Isn't that odd?
Avatar 4:42pm Cecile:

they need to keep ME happy.
  4:43pm rachael:

Unfortunately, Taylor Mead will not be in person at AFA - PLEASE NOTE: Since going to press with our Spring schedule, we've learned that Taylor Mead will be temporarily leaving NYC (for an undetermined period of time) just before our originally scheduled program on Sun, April 14. As a result, we have added a screening on Tues, April 9, with Taylor in person! Since this may be the last chance to see Taylor here in NY for some time, this evening is not to be missed! Come say goodbye to Taylor as he embarks on an adventure out west!
Avatar 4:43pm slugluv1313:

yes, i do believe that "The Kelly Affair" was their first name
Avatar 4:43pm Cheri Pi:

I find that you attract more sweet Nac boxsets w/ honey. Start simple, try a little flattery, like compliment their dirty hair or new glasses ....but make it sound sincere.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:44pm Caryn:

What I find interesting is that both "The 10th Victim" and "Das Millionenspiel" are both based on Sheckley stories, but different ones. You could argue that "The 10th Victim", made 5 years earlier, is really the first reality-show movie.
  4:44pm rachael:

Well, at least not for the originally scheduled program.
Avatar 4:44pm Cecile:

nobody seems to give a damn whether I go in there or not, so to hell with them all and off to the loving arms of the internet vendors.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:45pm steve:

wheres Baked Goods? midwest somewheres?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:46pm Caryn:

That The Carrie Nations is their second name is evident in the song. "In The Long Run" is one of the more staid, commercial tracks, in contrast with their edgier Kelly Affair material, like "Find It". All part of Z-Man's plan to make them more commercially viable.
Avatar 4:46pm Cecile:

we say baked goods mostly in Mpls, some people say bakery.
Avatar 4:46pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Funny, CP, I ended up doing the opposite thing. Asked for the HOLD ONE!!! copy of the Can box, then hit 'em up for another live in-store gig. Always needy. Always take, take, take...
Avatar 4:46pm Cheri Pi:

What she said...Some people call is Schnek for short.
Avatar 4:47pm Cheri Pi:

Jesus christ, maybe I should start being a dick to them.
Avatar 4:48pm Cecile:

Now if I were a 24 year old gal and wearing a skirt up to THERE, I'd get lots of attention.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:48pm steve:

wait.. is Baked Goods a record store, or is my new initiative to actually bake some treats for local record merchants??
  4:48pm Assaf:

what a treat this show is
Avatar 4:49pm Cheri Pi:

Bring those stoners some muffins Steve!!
Avatar 4:49pm Cecile:

Assaf, that is 100% true.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Jazz treats seem to work like a charm at my most beloved record shops.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm steve:

done and done. this is a good plan.
Avatar 4:51pm Cecile:

i don't have a beloved shop any more. They all closed, or are too far away, or are too filthy for even me to go into anymore.
Avatar 4:52pm Cecile:

The Internet is clean, well-stocked and DOESN'T JUDGE. They thank me for my order!
Avatar 4:53pm Cheri Pi:

We have the BEST shop in Cincy...you just feel like home there.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:53pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

@Cecile: I know this is not a perfect match, but Aquarius Records will always take your calls, email, and occasional drop-in check-up.
Avatar 4:54pm Cecile:

I will have to visit that in some upcoming decade.
Avatar 4:54pm Cecile:

Aquarius has been lovely when I have ordered from them. And their weekly reports are great.
Avatar 4:55pm Cheri Pi:

I love Aquarius, they have taken many of my dollars, they give good "customer" too.
Avatar 4:56pm Cheri Pi:

Well, this is goodnight dolls, catch you on the flip.
Avatar 4:56pm Cecile:

but right now i'm into Amazon because I haz student Prime for about 3 more months. Free 2-day shipping!
Avatar 4:57pm Cecile:

have a lovely evening. How was the band last night?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:58pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

Portland, Oregon: Exiled, Mississippi Records, 2nd Avenue Records, Little Axe, Beyond Sound, Record Room, Music Millennium, Jackpot Records, Clinton Street Records,....

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Mike East:

I've really been enjoying the show today from the start. I don't know if people are dumber today or if my tolerance is lower than normal, but I'm getting really annoyed at work.

Thank you, Fabio, for taking my mind off dummies.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

I haven't yet seen a single episode, but I hear Seattle's own Jinx Monsoon is becoming quite a grande dame on RuPaul's Drag Race this season.
Avatar 5:06pm fearson:

do you have a #strong crush on leslie?
Avatar 5:06pm Cecile:

Adam, Jinkx is AMAZING. She impersonated Little Edie from Grey Gardens for a contest.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:06pm steve:

Lesley Gore rules
Avatar 5:07pm northguineahills:

*raises hand* I'm more dumb today then yesterday!
Avatar 5:07pm Cecile:

She jokes that she's "Seattle's premier Jewish narcoleptic drag queen."
Avatar 5:10pm Cecile:

And she was supposed to do her best "Latina drag" and she dressed up as a Dia de los Noches character!
Avatar 5:10pm glenn:

i don't know mike, you seem pretty tolerant to me. i'd go with the stupidity.
Avatar 5:10pm Cecile:

las, I mean.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Adam in Portland and Lynnwood:

@Cecile: I saw her perform on New Year's Eve, along with Jackie Hell, Alaska Thunderfuck, Sharon Needles, Waxie Moon, Ben de la Creme, AND The Intelligence playing the hits! Oh, what a night! :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:12pm Caryn:

@Cecile: though it did lead to me getting hugely annoyed. Mainly at the twinkie drag queens who had no idea who Little Edie was. Come on! Know your culture!
Avatar 5:12pm fearson:

put that in your jazz cigarette and smoke it!
Avatar 5:12pm Cori:

Cecile, I believe you mean Dia de los Muertos. But yes, Jinkx is awesome. I love me some Drag Race, but this season has been less interesting than the previous years. They tried to make too much out of the whole Coco/Alyssa DRAMA. *yawn*
Avatar 5:12pm Cecile:

I love Sharon Needles, and her squeeze Alaska is giving Jinkx a run for her money.
Avatar 5:13pm fearson:

got a feeling coming on #strong about this jam
Avatar 5:14pm Cecile:

Cori, you are 1000000% correct.
I think so, Cori. There's no wise elders this go-around. And nobody who just makes my jaw drop like Raja did.
