Swag For Life Member 3:18pm Ralphine:

My opinion is that the new Hendrix album is, as they say, "for completists."
Avatar 3:19pm Cheri Pi:

I'll stick with my Velvert Turner, there's a new hendrix song each time I play him.
Avatar 3:21pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

My cloaca is full of staplers now, thanks to that first track after Giant Man.
Swag For Life Member 3:21pm Ralphine:

Learn something new every day. I never heard of Velvert Turner.
Avatar 3:22pm Cory:

can't wait to finish this show after work
have a nice night everyone!
Avatar 3:22pm Cheri Pi:

Can you spit them out like a mutant Pez dispenser? Proceed with caution.
Avatar 3:23pm Cheri Pi:

Fab, can we hear some Velvert?
Avatar 3:23pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Up to 50 sheets at a time. Not that I'm bragging or anything.
Avatar 3:24pm Cheri Pi:

Yes, that first song after is the truck song I was imagining.
Avatar 3:24pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Hey now, I'm having Santa Sangre flashbacks. I like this.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:25pm DCE:

Fabio my man
Avatar 3:29pm Cheri Pi:

Careful with that Swingline, Reverend Eugene.
Avatar 3:29pm Looms:

Anthroprophh can sound as you said in French.
Avatar 3:32pm Bilk Linton:

Fabio, you da man!

I think that was Hendrix live on bath salts..
Swag For Life Member 3:33pm Ralphine:

That version of Villanova Junction was so bad that Fabio was ashamed to put it on his playlist.
Avatar 3:35pm Looms:

Though, Anthroprophh could be pronounced Anthroproph-H as "anthropophage" which means cannibal in French.
Avatar 3:36pm Cheri Pi:

Whose pelt is this Fab? My compliments to the tanner, the staple work is of high quality.
Avatar 3:40pm Looms:

eh, no, anthropophage doesn't work.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:41pm tim from champaign:

Congratulations on the station making the goal, Fabio, and all the hard work you did.

I dig Pelt.
Avatar 3:42pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Sitting on the floor, swaying in a pool of wet staples. Webbed feet now? Hell, if this is primal regression, lets go ALL the way. blobby plasmic residue, here I come!
Avatar 3:46pm Cheri Pi:

I'm fossilizing on this rock.
Avatar 3:46pm Chris from DC:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Ken From Hyde Park:

This Pelt song seems to have a lot of notes playing simultaneously. With so many notes at once, there have to be good ones in there.
Avatar 3:50pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

can no longer relate to inorganic compounds.
Avatar 3:50pm duke:

@Cheri Pi I see that your cat is well dressed.
  3:51pm Bubba the Great:

Bill Moyers has a great six part series on Myth with Joseph Campbell that goes well with these tunes. Check it out and listen to Fabio
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:53pm Mike East:

@Bubba - getting those 6 CD's was the only time I've ever donated to Public TV. I still listen them every couple years or so.
Avatar 3:54pm Cheri Pi:

Solidarity for Chat Noirs wearing ties.
  3:54pm Bubba the Great:

@Mike East: Peace brudda
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Mike East:

and its funny that you mention it because I had been thinking that Pelt would be the music I would play in my church if I had one. And my church would almost certainly be based primarily on Joseph Campbell's work.
  3:57pm Bubba the Great:

@Mike East: Tell me when service starts
Avatar 3:57pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

...tempted to reconstitute, but I'm finding the life of ooze has its advantages.
Avatar 3:59pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Case in point: "Sorry man, I can't do jury duty. Check me out, I'm primordial ooze..."
  4:00pm The Stranglers:

No more heroes.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Ike:

Campbell? Eh. The Hero's Journey has gotten very, very boring. Enough already.
Swag For Life Member 4:02pm Ralphine:

Ken From Hyde Park: Your comment at 3:49 Eastern US Time reminded me of this: www.youtube.com...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Ike:

To be more specific: tiny.cc...
He takes down Joseph Campbell starting with the 14th paragraph. Very interesting.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:05pm Ken From Hyde Park:

I'd like to hear a mash-up of some of the post-marathon WFMU shows. I'll bet this would work well against Liz Berg's show from Monday morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:06pm northguineahills:

I've said it before, but I've never been disappointed by a Soul Jazz release.
Avatar 4:07pm ottovonbqe:

I would buy the 8 track if fabio did.
Avatar 4:07pm glenn:

ralphine, velvert turner was a very close friend of richard lloyd's, and jimi's only ever guitar student.
Avatar 4:12pm Cecile:

M? It's terrific.
Avatar 4:13pm Cecile:

What's up with the Velvert Turner talk? Is there new stuff from the archives?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm northguineahills:

I had to get rid of my 8-track player when I moved here a baker's dozen years ago, b/c it was part of one those giant hi-fi furniture pieces. Still have a box of 8-tracks.
Swag For Life Member 4:21pm Ralphine:

The second and third comments in the thread got it going, Cecile. Fabio had played a lame track off the recent Hendrix release.
Avatar 4:24pm Cheri Pi:

Cecile! I've been hitting the VT pretty heavy since I heard the girlfriend of Jimi interviewed on Q the other day about the dregs of his archives being published by her I believe.
Avatar 4:25pm Chris from DC:

This is nice. Different from what I remember of Dirty Beaches.
Avatar 4:27pm Cheri Pi:

Dirty beaches, that reminds me....did I feed the octopus this morning?
Avatar 4:31pm Cheri Pi:

Ralphine-First track is my favorite, the version I have at home is louder and dirtier: www.youtube.com...
Avatar 4:32pm Cecile:

I think Clay and Fabio should do a duet of "Didn't we almost have it all?" at Hoof and Mouth next year.
Avatar 4:33pm Cheri Pi:

yes, hahahaha! they should.
Avatar 4:35pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:37pm DCE:

what they got against forks?
Avatar 4:37pm Cheri Pi:

Poignant! Can they do it from a Chevy nova?
Swag For Life Member 4:39pm Ralphine:

I had just watched a different Velvert Turner video on YouTube. Thank goodness for copyright infringement.
Avatar 4:39pm Cheri Pi:

ok...i just freaked myself out looking at tumors on google image. i'm so weak right now...
Avatar 4:40pm Cecile:

That would be great. With a helicopter flying above for a long shot as they drive down the Pacific Coast highway.
Avatar 4:40pm Cecile:

hahaha Blake Carrington. Like from Dynasty!
Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Ralphine:

Did you look at pictures of the tumors with hair and teeth?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm DCE:

is there a Quartermain in the house?
Avatar 4:42pm Cecile:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm DCE:

don't DO that to yourself, CP!
  4:43pm jay inthe woods:

Yo, thank you for giving my daily dose of Whitney.
Avatar 4:43pm Cheri Pi:

everything was everywhere....
Avatar 4:43pm Cecile:

no prob, Jay.
Avatar 4:43pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

"everything was everywhere...."
solid gold, that.
Avatar 4:45pm Cheri Pi:

must think about Whitney Houston....and the coastline...
Avatar 4:45pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

As a kid, my mum took me to the armed forces medical museum (she was stationed at Walter Reed inna Army) - And that was a mindblower. Everything was indeed everywhere. Lots of organic "whoopsies" in formaldehyde. And then there was...... the hairball. Not disgusting at all, just... wow.
Avatar 4:46pm Cheri Pi:

the theme song from dynasty is pretty soothing-try it for "forgetting" youtu.be...
Avatar 4:53pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

These guys could totally take the Sleestaks.
Love this.
Swag For Life Member 4:55pm Ralphine:

How about a Gorn?
Avatar 4:57pm Cheri Pi:

'later night stalkers. catch you on the flipside.
  4:57pm Toby Dammit:

Man what a great song...loved those harmonies...! Howdy from Perth!
Avatar 4:59pm Fabio:

Toby Dammit!!! How the heck are you man? When you coming through NY again?
  4:59pm nic:

TWO_so great !!!
Avatar 4:59pm Cecile:

hey, toby, what time is it down there?
  5:00pm Toby Dammit:

Dunno...we're down under for 2 weeks...5am!
Avatar 5:05pm Cecile:

It's in wide release right now! It's weird.

I only know of Old Boy because I am a scaredy-cat.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:09pm Caryn:

Damn, totally lost track of time! Hello all!
Avatar 5:11pm Rev. Turnip Druid:

Yes. This. Yes.......... this..
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:11pm Ike:

  5:15pm nic:

this is great TWO
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:16pm Caryn:

Heh, Roxy Music on the tv, Fabio on my computer. Interesting mix.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:17pm northguineahills:

Totally lost track of myself. At least I think it's me.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:22pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Caryn - In case you missed Keili's fill-in for Diane today, you should check the archive. Keili found out something about Voivod!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:25pm Caryn:

@Ken: what?!? Damn, missed it! Oh man, how I love the archives at moments like this. Meanwhile, tv is talking about the influence of Jackson Pollock on early Clash, The Who's ties with surrealism, and about Eno being "not about craft, but about concept". Somehow the intellectual approach to music seems to fit in with Fabio.
  5:27pm pineapple butter:

This song is amayzing. Thanks Fabio. Great show.
Avatar 5:31pm glenn:

hey musicians - anybody ever used a tascam 388 studio 8? there's one for sale on the t.o. craigslist. i'm contemplating adding it to the arsenal.
Avatar 5:33pm steve:

glenn - is any repair, great or small, required? any dead or crackly pots?
Avatar 5:36pm glenn:

i don't know. here's the ad. toronto.en.craigslist.ca...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:37pm Richard Nixon:

I think my bird is enjoying this song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:42pm northguineahills:

I heart Vakio!
Avatar 5:42pm Fredericks:

I knew this was Pansonic! Love this piece.
Avatar 5:43pm steve:

glenn, forgive me if you've heard 100 times before, but my general advice is to only buy awesome vintage gear if you have someone reliable who can service it. thats never more crucial than it is with a piece with 20+ year old moving parts, like a reel to reel. but yes if its a good deal and you want some decent analog recording it seems like a nice unit.
Avatar 5:45pm Bilk Linton:

awww yeah. talkover music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Caryn:

You pronounced it well, Fabio!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:46pm Matt from Springfield:

The burst shall be last, and the blast shall be first!!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm Matt from Springfield:

@Bilk Always great talk over music from Fab!
Avatar 5:47pm steve:

Caryn! you can help us translate all those Pan Sonic titles we've been wondering about since the 90s
Avatar 5:47pm glenn:

there's a good vintage stereo store / repair guy a couple of blocks away from me. he actually had one of these for sale a few years back, but sold it to somebody else.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Caryn:

@steve: heh! Okay. BTW, have never come across the Pan Sonic/Merzbow collaboration "V". Any good?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Yo, Grand Funk Pigeon!
We're a Jersey City band!!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm G:

Fabio's gonna pretend he has no idea what Clay is asking about. college basketball? is there such a thing? :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:52pm northguineahills:

I have the remix of Pan(a)sonic did of Merbow that's kickass!
Avatar 5:52pm Fredericks:

I still don't know who won the Super Bowl. Please, don't mistake that as a question.
Avatar 5:52pm steve:

Caryn, ive never heard it... i remember seeing it years ago at Vintage Vinyl in New Jersey but EVERYONE said it was disappointing, so i never got it. Merzbow collaborations are generally not so good imo. you're better off putting on your favorite arhythmic Merzbow cd and your favorite Pan Sonic at the same time!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm northguineahills:

(the Scumbow remix album)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm Ike:

Good show indeed!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:53pm northguineahills:

I have the collaboration, and it's alright, but the remix is light years better.
Avatar 5:54pm steve:

yes Scumtron is awesome!
Avatar 5:54pm Cecile:

We need to hear "DIDN'T WE ALMOST HAVE IT ALL!"
  5:54pm Ralph:

Why when Clay comes onto the show, Fabio seems to have more fun and laughs more?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm Ike:

Fredericks, didn't the Boise Potatoes win? Or was it the St. Louis Archbishops?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:55pm northguineahills:

That's it, Steve!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:56pm Caryn:

Heh, just this morning I suggested to Mary that she should do a Shatner "talksing" piece next Marathon.
Avatar 5:56pm steve:

the Pan Sonic / Keiji Haino 2LP delivers as well
Avatar 5:56pm Cecile:

fabio's meeting his wife. hahahaha!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:57pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Yep, shuts down the playlist and starts eying the door.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:58pm Revolution Rabbit Nov63:

- Too late to get caught up, but :

...Count me in w/ the Hendrix Completists. (But!: Haven't heard new release.)
...Big on both Joe Campbell - & Bill Moyers, too. (Though wish more CampbellFans knew the credit due Jung...& waiting to check Ike's Link...)
Avatar 5:58pm Cecile:

I know a Skyhooks song was their first dance as a married couple...
  5:59pm Ted L:

Oh, please, spare us these interactions? More music!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:00pm Ike:

Ted, you're alone on that one. We love these two.
  6:17pm Ted L:

Yeah, I'm sure Fabio, and any DJ for that matter, would like it if Clay walked into their show early on a regular basis and wanted to chat on the air. To me a lot of it sounds strained. But that's okay, I'll just turn Fabio's show off at that point. Ralph, you think Fabio should be laughing as much when he is alone?
