right on, Rev! What is it about couples bands?

I love this etherial, heartbeating, jungley music. Reminds me of the stuff I used to record in a friend's basement in the mid-'80s. Very soothing and comforting.

i like those birdy sounds!

I am sending this hello from my nap cave. Electro-love to everyone. Scott, you were a gosh darn rock master last night.

That beeping electronic stuff before Krausened reminded me of an album that my older sister bought me for Christmas when I was nine years old--Morton Subotnick's "Silver Apples of the Moon." It was a little, uh, advanced for my taste. I had told her that I liked synthesizer music from hearing Switched on Bach, and Subotnick was the only synthesizer album she could find.

Sorry to hear that Dave - the roads here are such garbage. I bubbled a tire last week coming back from the station myself. All roads may lead to WFMU but The Man seems to always want to keep them in disrepair.

When Scott says he loves us "long time" he means it.

Hey Dave B. missed you at the event. how do you bend a rim on a car? At first I thought you were talking about a bike. Like a bike rim getting taco'd
Avatar 4:43pm
Pete from Boston (and NJ):

The better question is, how do so many people make it down the Grand Central without bending rims? Potholes at high speed (ok, just answered my own question) dent many a rim.

My gf got a hard drive's worth of music from one of her coworkers, and I've been tackling the Conrad Schnitzler section since early February, and I'm still only half way through it. Tons of releases that were cassette-only originally, or very small vinyl pressings.
Avatar 4:56pm
Paul Ryan:

There is absolutely no correlation between low taxes and all those potholes. None at all.
the inner egg uncle:

just curious if anyone knows how many people on average listen to wfmu online?????? strange to think of all the interconnected radio ears on earth......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:05pm

SM Ken and staff keep a sharp eye on the on-line listener info. On UStream you can actually see the number of hook-ups. So to speak.

I listen online, so there's one.
Avatar 5:06pm
Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Ken alludes to the percentages sometimes. There was a 7SD devoted once to just surveying people on where and how they were listening, though it only captured the motivated and just for one show.
Avatar 5:07pm
Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I meant to respond to something you said yesterday, Ralphine, and now I forgot what.

Useful comment, I know.

sounded pretty cool though!

It'll come to you eventually.
Avatar 5:09pm

I seem to remember Ken being able to see how many people were listening on line at any one time. Unless that was just a ploy to fake out Andy.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:15pm

I had 3 streams, plus 91.1 going last weekend...in different rooms, and out of sync. It was a great weekend.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:45pm
Scott Williams:

Glenn, it takes about a month. 6 rehearsals
Avatar 5:47pm

dang wish I could hit those notes
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:47pm

is that why they have to change studios so long before the marathon starts? to make room for rehearsals?
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:47pm

I'll just chime in that those six rehearsals are with the band -- Scott spends A LOT of additional time working on the songs. And generally the singers only run through their songs with the band once or twice (or sometimes not at all -- Dan Bodah's Cramps song this year, for example).
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:48pm

I think the Conrad track was (Album - Track) Grün - Bis Die Blaue Blume Blüht sounded a little different though.
Avatar 🎸 Swag For Life Member 5:49pm

@G, the main reason for the studio change is to make sure any technical or other kinks with Studio B are worked out well in advance of the marathon, and so DJs will have a couple of shows in that studio before the marathon begins so we won't spend our marathon shows talking about how we're in Studio B. ;)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 5:51pm
Scott Williams:

Hey EFD! playlist comment poke. and I'll chime in to say that I'm not the only one -- Evan himself puts in much sweat, concentration, and spirit for this thing.

G, the reason we switch studios for the Marathon is that Studio B is much more conducive to fundraising. It's got a 2nd room for volunteers, phones & MCs. we start early to work out the bugs
