Swag For Life Member 12:09am AS from MP:

Hey Joe - nice to be awake to hear your show live for a change -
Avatar 12:11am Joe McG:

Hey, AS! I'm not feeling as archival tonight as usual!
Avatar 12:26am Holly in NC:

Where the heck is everyone? Hi Joe!
That said, have to put away groceries, feed cats, change water & litter, pour a glass of wine, reheat own dinner.. so while listening may not be commenting for a bit ;-)
Swag For Life Member 12:26am 12539:

Everyone's as quiet as me tonight.
Avatar 12:28am Joe McG:

Hey, Holly! Hey, 12539! We're now broadcasting from the lonely little studio on the 4th floor, so the general quietude seems somehow expected!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:29am Joe D:

my man definitely screams "funky" in a barely FCC compliant way
  12:29am Marmalade Kitty:

a most splendiferous start, Joe!
Avatar 12:30am Joe McG:

@Joe D: Funky booty sign! @Kitty: Thanks! Hope you are both feeling fine tonight.
Avatar 12:30am Holly in NC:

Joe, while I deal w nasty litter - would love if you could tell us about your *2 premiums*, I am torn
Avatar 12:31am Joe McG:

@Holly: Sure, I'll be glad to blab about 'em tonight during the show. I'm excited about 'em!
Avatar 12:34am BriJet:

Hello Joe!
Avatar 12:35am Joe McG:

Hey, BreeGeet!
  12:35am jeff-m:

loving this james booker
Avatar 12:36am BriJet:

Yeah it's groovy!
Avatar 12:37am Dave in PA:

Hi Joe.
Avatar 12:38am BriJet:

Play some Cory Booker!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:40am Ken From Hyde Park:

Turns out little Fuzzy the guinea pig has a broken leg. That costs $320 to get repaired. Is there an Obamacare plan for guinea pigs?
Avatar 12:44am Joe McG:

Ken, I'm really bummed out to hear about Fuzzy. Have you considered a Kickstarter?
  12:45am Marmalade Kitty:

It was you, Joe McG, who turned me onto the wonderful Kevin Ayres many moons ago now. Thank you!
Avatar 12:47am Joe McG:

Oh, that's such a nice thing to say! Glad I could introduce him to you. @Jeff-m: Hey, Jeff! @Dave in PA: Hey, Dave!
  12:48am Marmalade Kitty:

I pestered you into telling me the bedmusic :)
Avatar 12:49am Holly in NC:

I knew I could count on you for Kevin Ayers!
Also, going through my wfmu 'notes to self' - aside from Finewine you are the only DJ who *consistently* plays songs that I love, and then can't find in town or online.
That s/b your 2014 premium - songs that thwarted Holly :-)
  12:49am Marmalade Kitty:

I still can't find that instrumental version..!?
  12:50am Marmalade Kitty:

you know, Holly!!
Avatar 12:51am Joe McG:

@Kitty: Ah, I remember! It's from a CD called "What More Can I Say..." on Reel Recordings. @Holly: Great idea for future premium!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:51am fleep:

Good evening, Joe.

@Holly At the heck sink, doing the heck dishes.

@Ken We're all guinea pigs.
Avatar 12:52am Joe McG:

Hey, fleep! Things fleeping along okay?
Avatar 12:56am Holly in NC:

@fleep -
so sorry about heck sink.

@Marmalade Kitty - Hi! Actually have that Ayers instro, I'll happily send to you if you can't find. Digging is fun, but then there's a point where hair is pulled...and copyright looks ok
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:56am fleep:

@Joe By fleeps and bounds. Pazy and the Black Hippies inspired some truly twerpy looking chair dancing.
Avatar 12:59am Joe McG:

@fleep: Excellent work, Pazy!
  1:03am Marmalade Kitty:

nice one Holly! Thanks sooo much :)
Avatar 1:05am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

This is *exactly* how I bought my truck.
Avatar 1:07am Joe McG:

@Pete: Ha ha ha! Hope you didn't run into Frank.
Avatar 1:09am KP:

That song was some greeting.
  1:10am matt:

levi's - haw! haw!
Avatar 1:10am Joe McG:

That's what happens when a rooster gets too close to another rooster's chickens.
Avatar 1:11am KP:

I'll keep that in mind.
  1:11am Marmalade Kitty:

you bin warned, KP.. :)
  1:12am matt:

levis... haw, haw.
Avatar 1:14am Joe B:

Hey Joe, show sounding great! Hard Time Hungrys, great tune. Coming out of a busy night of work, I thought I had problems until I heard that!
Avatar 1:14am Joe McG:

Hey, Matt!
  1:15am Holly in NC:

Been listening to this Lena Hughes a lot, so soothing - before this most excellent reissue had only ever heard those few songs on the County parlour guitar comp, full album is a low key treasure!
Avatar 1:16am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Listener junk sending manager Joe, I didn't know you had a show. And it's great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:16am Matt from Springfield:

"What were their names / Tell me what were their names / Did you have a friend on the good Reuben James?"

And another Matt comes in! Hey Joe and everyone!
Avatar 1:16am Joe McG:

Hey, Joe! Yeah, that song makes me feel better about just about everything!
Avatar 1:17am KP:

I could use a Rueben sandwich.
Avatar 1:18am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Though I have this direct open line, I promise to not abuse it by complaining about my lack of Seven Second Delay sex tape.
Avatar 1:18am Joe McG:

Hey, Matt from S.!
Avatar 1:19am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

There is another playlist that's going to get that does of ire this Wednesday.
Avatar 1:19am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

  1:20am Chop Scott:

Ahhh--My Friend Joe! Always the best company...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20am Matt from Springfield:

@KP: LOVE Reuben sandwiches!
@Pete: Sex *DVD*--and Ken just acquired one, so all they have to do is record commentary over it. Were you offered a bonus premium because 7SD's hadn't come in?
  1:20am Holly in NC:

@KP - mm, Rueben....
Loving Bessie
Avatar 1:20am Joe B:

yes, Green on Red!
Avatar 1:20am Joe McG:

@Pete: I thank you, sir!
Avatar 1:21am KP:

Loving Green on Red.
  1:22am Holly in NC:

Green on Red, yes.
Avatar 1:22am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

This reminds me a lot of Barnyard Slut.
Avatar 1:22am KP:

Hey Matt, Holly I'll call Carnegie deli.
Avatar 1:23am Joe McG:

@Pete: Now THERE'S a band I must check out post haste.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:23am Matt from Springfield:

Thanks KP! Just toss 'em south when they're ready.
  1:24am Holly in NC:

Having switched to mobile, now on ~ 45 second delay, which turns me into an untimely parrot :-(
  1:26am Holly in NC:

Would like some half sours to go w Rueben, while you're throwing...
Avatar 1:28am KP:

Half sours, slaw, split a knish ... cherry peppers?
Avatar 1:29am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Joe McG -- "Long Arm" is the Barnyard Slut song I know. Found it on a Dutch East India Comp in the mid 90s, while my friend Bill from WVPH simultaneously offered the same song to me. Never heard anything else, but it's a great little song.
Avatar 1:29am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Is there a decent half sour to be had in NC?
  1:30am Holly in NC:

Of course! & pls grab a green tomato or 2...
Avatar 1:31am b:

Hey! Jest in time!
Avatar 1:31am KP:

Holly, 45 seconds? I've noticed as much as 12 seconds w/ iPhone & computer.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:31am Matt from Springfield:

Awesome new bed music!
Avatar 1:32am b:

Whew. I missed Conway Twitty. That was a close one.
Avatar 1:33am KP:

Green tomatoes, yes. Coffee soda?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:33am Matt from Springfield:

@KP: Not a connoissuer enough to tell apart those pickles, but cherry peppers most welcome!

@b: Conway's in the ear of the beholder ;)
  1:35am Holly in NC:

@Pete - erm, luckily Sourheen Seasons in Ch-Hill carries Ba Tempe. So indigenoys, no. Weird because many, many great picklers down here. Even odder, amazing local Jewish pickle folks make kickass kimchee, but no trad items.
Avatar 1:35am b:

CW McCall = big fun. Conway Twitty = not so much.
  1:36am Nate:

Thanks Matt!
  1:36am Holly in NC:

Manhattan Coffee Soda! Heck, throw in a CelRay
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37am Matt from Springfield:

Hiya Nate!
  1:37am Holly in NC:

Sorry about spelling. Indiginoys?
  1:38am Nate:

Has anybody figured out how to sign in to "Friendship Society" via iPhone?
Avatar 1:38am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I started making my own due to absurd markups by the local makers slapping the pricy "artisanal" label on their basic pickles. Easy and fast to make a good half sour, three days in cool basement.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:39am Brian in UK:

Hello Joe, Mr Big Stuff is such a great number.

Hey KP are you there I got something to show you.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am Matt from Springfield:

Hey, it's Feb 24 now. For reasons that reflect the complex Roman system of months and dates, it used to be considered the "extra" leap day during leap years. (Feb 29 is the last day until March, just as Feb 28 is the last day until March in non-leap years, but the extra day was once the 24th).
Avatar 1:40am Joe McG:

Hey, Brian! Yeah, that whole LP is great!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:40am Matt from Springfield:

As Flower Power as the Osmonds got.
Avatar 1:41am b:

that rare WAYNE osmond showcase tune
Avatar 1:41am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I always considered March 8th to be extra.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:41am fleep:

@Holly Indiginoys are really irritating native people.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:42am Matt from Springfield:

Oooh! Sam & Dave Beatles cover!
  1:42am Holly in NC:

@Nate - if iphone like Android, cant use wfmu app, but can workaround by going to actual wfmu website. It's a pain in the ass, note I'm not signed in. I'm sure Kenzo will fix very soon!
Avatar 1:43am b:

This week I heard Elvis Presley's recording of "Hey Jude." My life will never be the same.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:43am Matt from Springfield:

@Pete: Good point on the extraneous March 8th. February 30th and 31st can be considered extra days, that we don't take advantage of (at least not often enough).

@b: Wow, non Donnie Osmond lead!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:44am Matt from Springfield:

Bing Crosby's "Hey Jude" -- QUALITY Golden Throats material.
Avatar 1:44am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

You do it on iphone just like any other computer. The app has never supported playlist comments.
Avatar 1:44am b:

Avatar 1:46am KP:

Matt, ever hear of Dixie Bones?
Avatar 1:47am Joe B:

wow, never heard that sam and dave version before
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am Matt from Springfield:

Dixie Bones, the Alabama-originated BBQ/Southern cuisine on Route 1 in Woodbridge? Why of course!
Avatar 1:47am Joe B:

would have never guessed Wayne Osmond, my guess would have been Alan!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:47am Brian in UK:

Joe, not heard Kevin's 'We Don't Serve Strangers in Blue Suede Shoes' in tribute time yet. He was fun in a very English way but covered a multiude of styles. Lol & Oldfield on the same album reflects that.
  1:48am Holly in NC:

Nattered through the Raindrops, a belated thank you, Joe
Avatar 1:48am Joe McG:

@Joe B: It's their very last single. I always thought it was ironic that they chose that particular tune as their swansong considering how they never got along....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:48am Brian in UK:

Hey KP this ones for you Ralph!!
Avatar 1:49am Joe B:

ironic indeed!
Avatar 1:49am Joe McG:

@Brian: You're in the right place, Kevin Ayers tribute around the corner...
Avatar 1:49am b:

May have been Alan, don't quote me on that! Wayne was the only older Osmond whose name came to me at the time.
  1:50am Nate:

Ok. Maybe I need to rephrase. How do I sign in via the iPhone WFMU app. Hold on! Distracted by "Hot Blooded"
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:50am Matt from Springfield:

Hey, WARW "The Arrow" is back! :)
Avatar 1:51am b:

One of the rudest lyrics to top the charts in its era: "I'm hot blooded, check it and see."
Avatar 1:51am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

I think you don't.
Avatar 1:51am Joe McG:

@b: Do you do more than dance?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am Brian in UK:

@Nate I do not have an iPhone but I think you cannot use the sign in with it.
Avatar 1:52am b:

Heck, I don't even dance!
  1:52am Nate:

Air guitar! Hot blooded! I'm finding a regular computer to sign in. Font too small for beer goggles. . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:52am Matt from Springfield:

Jackson Browne: "Let me introduce you to my Red Neck Friend"
"When I turn out the light I got to Hand it to me"...
  1:53am Holly in NC:

Android supports comments, beautifully , but not Friendship Society.
@Joe - Hot Blooded! My mum's favorite! ;-)
Avatar 1:54am b:

@Matt - you're actually mixing two songs there, but yeah, that would qualify!
Avatar 1:54am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

And amazingly, "I Want to Know What Love Is" happened anyway,
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am fleep:

The Source is very deep.
  1:54am Nate:

Well, there's a Facebook and Twitter sign in. . . OK finding a laptop!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Matt from Springfield:

AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL label! Holy crap--any affiliation with the Super B American International Pictures film studio??!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:54am Matt from Springfield:

@b: Rude lyric(s) :)
Avatar 1:55am b:

Wait, American International? Wasn't that Bubble Puppy's label?
Avatar 1:56am Joe McG:

@Matt: Oh yeah! In fact, this is a song from a soundtrack to an AI picture.
Avatar 1:56am Pete from Boston (and NJ):

Good night from (and) NJ.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:56am Matt from Springfield:

Wow. "AI Pictures, your One Stop Shop for entertainment!"
Avatar 1:57am Nate:

Ok! Laptop taken over! Had to skooch a bafoon off!
Avatar 1:57am KP:

Holly, cel-ray? Are you a displaced person?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57am Matt from Springfield:

Good night, Pete!
Avatar 1:57am Joe McG:

@b: Wasn't that International Artists, b?
Avatar 1:57am b:

No, Bubble Puppy was on International Artists, I stand corrected.
  1:58am Deepak:

'It's me i'm i'm running from' reminds me of Dean martin's I take a lot of pride..
  1:58am Holly in NC:

I love everything the Everlys recorded that WASNT an AM top 40 hit. Their version of Down in the Willow Garden = best
Avatar 1:58am Nate:

Ok. So this screen stinks on a iPhone. It's great on a laptop
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:59am Matt from Springfield:

@Holly: Don't forget "Walk Right Back"! Lifted for Neil Young's "Harvest Moon"!

Cow punk bluddy mindedness
Avatar 2:09am KP:

Matt, I saw the Everlys at the Birchmere. Table right in front of the fellas.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10am Brian in UK:

@KP didya get my link at 0148?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:10am Matt from Springfield:

Nice KP! The Birchmere is a great place around DC to see the old folkies and country singers.
  2:11am Holly in NC:

All over the cowpunk xo
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:11am Matt from Springfield:

Long live Kevin Ayres. With your bed music, Kevin always lives.
Avatar 2:13am Joe McG:

@Holly: I hope you like it!
Avatar 2:13am Joe McG:

@Nate: Thanks, man!
  2:16am jeff-m:

sounds like your bed music oddly...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16am Brian in UK:

@Joe I guess you know this little surprising Soft Machine gem.
Avatar 2:16am KP:

Lovely tribute, Joe.
  2:16am jeff-m:

nevermind. slow to get with the program.....
Avatar 2:17am Joe McG:

@Brian: Yes, that's a beaut. @Jeff: Yep, I have KA to thank for that!
Avatar 2:17am Nate:

@Joe you had me at Kevin Ayers! Man-crush on you right now! In a distant way! 11:17 on the west coast, yay!
  2:18am Marmalade Kitty:

Avatar 2:20am Joe McG:

@Nate: Fine with the distant man-crash, Nate! I think we all had a man-crush on Kevin Ayers here at FMU.
Avatar 2:21am KP:

"Singing a Song" reminds of "You Ain't Going Nowhere." you have to join in.
Avatar 2:22am Nate:

Ok. Splains my oogly-googly-ness right now. @Joe
  2:22am Holly in NC:

Just read an article re KA saying how everyone was "after his arse" :-)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:24am Brian in UK:

@Holly those effete Englishmen, nothing changes
Let's go to my chateau
We can have a good time
Drinking lots of fine wine.
Avatar 2:25am Joe McG:

@Holly: It's OK, 'cause Kevin was after everyone else's arse, including most of his friends' wives.
  2:27am Marmalade Kitty:

according to the font of all knowledge the oracle that is... Syd Barratt played guitar on the single "Religious experiences - singing a song in the morning. I always thought that was Barratts backing vocal also but is not credited with singing in the same article.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:29am Brian in UK:

Artistes were so prolific in the 60s/70s compared to nowadays. Or is it it me?
Avatar 2:30am Yair Yona:

I remember a friend once told me that he went to see Ayers live around 2005. He then met a band member of his and talked to him about Ayers, and the guy said that Kevin Ayers didn't own any of the rights to his music and he's doing gigs because he wants to be able to support his daughter's wedding. These are little stories like these that you can fully understand the devastating effect of being a creative and fruitful musician, yet naive, in an era where record labels were the devil.
  2:31am Holly in NC:

@Brian - ;-)
@Joe, will you play Clarence?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:32am Brian in UK:
