Avatar 7:06pm Monica:

Avatar 7:06pm tomB:

That's you throwing snowballs in Winnetka!
  7:07pm Catsilk:

Hi ya! Sure is collllllllld out there tonight. Gosh, she's really throwing those snowballs to the rhythm of Les Freres. Cuz that's how we do!
Avatar 7:07pm glenn:

she can throw snowballs at me anytime.
  7:07pm John:

Nice to be listening live - in UK so usually catch-up during week.
Avatar 7:08pm Monica:

dully noted, glenn!... sem chumbo, thank you much... tomB - yeah, has that vibe for sure... greetings, john in uk!
Avatar 7:09pm Dave E:

Hi there Monique
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:09pm G:

Yeah, I am having stream issues too, I am/was figuring it was on my end??? Have tried several streams, and I have internet connection working on other software I'm using... Maybe the football crashed it (j/k)
Avatar 7:10pm david_:

No problem with the stream here...
Avatar 7:11pm bruceleh:

yo moluv dahling, always a pleasure on a sunday night
Swag For Life Member 7:11pm 12539:

My stream is sounding very fine indeed.
Avatar 7:12pm Dave E:

Nice tune by Maxine
  7:12pm John:

Streaming fine for me
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm Parq:

Hola, Miss Mon and men and 'men. I have the night off from KP, and so here I am, just like every year, not watching the Super Bowl. Looking forward to the completion of all the musical passes you make tonight.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:13pm G:

Reboot time. Naughty, naughty, naughty computer, down boy.
Avatar 7:13pm deanland:

Streaming a tad choppy here, too. I just chalk that up to Verizon DSL being throttled while a zillion or so people are grabbing superbowl feeds and such.
Avatar 7:15pm david_:

America needs a 21st century data infrastructure.
Avatar 7:15pm Dave E:

Enjoying the selection of music thus far , , , wow, it's great stuff ......
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:16pm Irene Trudel:

kd! Such a lovely, languid tune.
Avatar 7:17pm Catsilk:

Super Bowl? What Super Bowl?! Guess I'm spending too much time like Lady Turntables.
Avatar 7:17pm deanland:

People are stopping me IRL or via private messages on FB, asking, "just what is this Monica show on Sunday nights you always write about?" So I direct them thisaways.
Avatar 7:18pm Monica:

hey there, Dave E! G and CB1, will alert authorities!!! Thanks!!!
Avatar 7:19pm Sem Chumbo:

Our k.d has traveled far since Alberta, channeling Patsy Cline and fronting the Reclines. Hallelujah, yes indeed.
Avatar 7:20pm Monica:

thanks, deanland! much appreciated, sir.... IRENE!!! yay, lady... Parq, great ta have ya live... you too, David!
Avatar 7:20pm david_:

Standing my bandwidth ground vs. Beyonce.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:21pm Ken:

G, did the reboot fix your streaming problem? CB1, which stream are you having problems with? The stupidbowl may very well be breaking the tubes.
Avatar 7:22pm BSI:

Howdy Monica & cheers for playing the Cymande track. Always dug that LP sleeve art but had no idea what they sounded like, etc... A longtime graphic designer's curiosity solved! And was a groove.
Avatar 7:22pm Monica:

Station Manager Ken will check in here re: any stream issues you might be having. BE NICE TO HIM!!!
Avatar 7:22pm glenn:

she has. i saw her in toronto for FREE in october '84. i think it was the first show she ever played outside ab.
Avatar 7:23pm BSI:

[referring to the s/t album, i guess it was their first]
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:23pm G:

Totally rebooted, stream is now fine. I bet some software got hung up or locked on my end...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:25pm G:

OMG, we can't pull him away from the Super Bowl :)
Avatar 7:25pm Monica:

BSI, yeah love that one. Mellow majesty... Thanks for checking in re: streams, Ken. Much appreciated.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm G:

Yes, stream is back for me. At 7PM I thought my only problem was that females had abandoned me at the Brooklyn Target food court so they can shop for hours. Great, with streaming sorted I am now back down to *one* problem.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:29pm Ken From Hyde Park:

If the game itself isn't the problem, then it's probably the insipid commercials.
Avatar 7:31pm Bad Ronald:

Fantastical show Monica - thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:32pm annie:

i'll just do double crostics and cryptograms until 9... and maybe scrabble if dale is around
Avatar 7:33pm Dave E:

I guess the football keeps alot of men out of trouble . . . I'd rather be here with some great music.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:33pm Parq:

Running the 128k stream through an iPad here, no problems at all.Was surprised that the iPhone/iPad stream kept going last night when the internet site was down.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:34pm Doug S.:

Ho hum. What a boring night. Thank God Monica's on.
Avatar 7:35pm glenn:

i read in the paper today that 3,800 former n.f.l.- ers are suing the league for brain damage/ mental issues resulting from concussions.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:36pm G:

Stupor Bowl is always a bore, it's got decades of track record as a blowout. I'll tune in 20 minutes before the end and if it is actually close, then *maybe* I'll check it out. I have family in Baltimore and they will ask me did I see it. Yes, I saw any actually interesting parts.
Avatar 7:37pm Snortley:

That bowl thing; that has something to do with some kind of sports, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm G:

Yes, it's a big bowl, Snortley, and when it is pretty full they flush it.
Avatar 7:38pm Dave E:

I do not even know who is playing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm G:

San Fran v Baltimore
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:38pm annie:

is this almost over?
Avatar 7:39pm Monica:

Doug S. - you're watching Beyonce?.... Hey, who won the Puppy Bowl?... Snortley, indeed.... Ken From Hyde Park - yes!.... Thanks, Bad Ronald! That Bad meaning good, right?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm listener james from westwood:

love the raiders cut on this comp.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:39pm Parq:

That's it; call my agent, I'm changing the name of the band to "The Dick Butkis Horrorshow".
Avatar 7:39pm glenn:

super bowl, schmuper bowl. the grey cup is so superior to the super bowl it isn't funny.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm Neil:

Yes, nothing says NFL like "What Can You Do With a Drunken Sailor."
Avatar 7:40pm Snortley:

Baltimore? Is John Waters playing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm listener james from westwood:

aaaaaaaand there's a bit of it!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:40pm G:

We kids loved the "Dick Butt Kiss" jokes back in the 70s

If only, Snortley, if only. But the Balt team is the Ravens, a Poe hommage
Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:42pm G:

And the Balt team colors and purple and black, pretty Goth
Avatar 7:42pm ken in denver:

One ex-second-in-command had it in for me from day one. Gave me a three-page writeup once for going to lunch without asking (my only writeup in 23 years at that company). When he was out of town the editor above him would come out of his office to work at this guy's desk; when the top boss was gone, this guy would go in that office and close the door. I was pleased to read of his recent financial troubles.
Avatar 7:42pm Sem Chumbo:

That's it, I am changing my name to Poe Hommage.
Avatar 7:43pm Dave E:

Gotta carry shopping home, bbl...
Avatar 8:01pm Catsilk:

YOu gonna pay tribute to Mr. Koch too? My only beef with him was his clamp down on all that magnificent graffiti! How beautiful NYC would be with it now. Silly bugger.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 8:01pm Parq:

My, a bunch of the neighbors' kids are having their own Super Bowl in the hallway, presumably while their 'rents are glued to the Game. I love this sort of thing -- it reminds me that I live in a community -- but my poor dogs have to be shut up in the bedroom.
Avatar 8:02pm P'o Boy Hommage:

Squirrels and their hommage to the Andrews Sisters! An all hommage evening in the making?

  8:14pm casey:

Oh yes. Too familiar with c-blocking in the work place and organizations. Unfortunately, this kind of scenario seems to be the rule rather than the exception, at least in the circles I travel in. I volunteer with the local chapter of a national non profit environmental organization. I coordinate meetings, membership outreach, and serve as the board secretary. . A colleague of mine on our board supposedly holds similar responsibilities for the state chapter of the organization. He serves on both the state and the local boards. On a couple of occasions I've been called on to fill in for the duties he's not taking care of at the state chapter. In some cases, the colleague I'm speaking of has actually passed these little jobs off to me because isn't familiar with the membership database. So, occasionally, I get emails from the State board asking put together a mailing list or whatever, and I do it. No problem. I'm here for the team, not for my own personal advancement. I'm not competing with him or jockeying for a position at the state level, I'm just doing what I was asked to do as a volunteer and in-kind contributor. . . So long story short, my colleague went to great lengths to take little snipes at me, including overly effusive expressions of gratitude for just doing my job. Not his place to do that really, but I don't see it as any kind of competition, so I just smile confusedly and attempt to accept the compliment or whatever graciously. Later it dawns on me that his behavior is actually quite condescending and spun from competitive instinct that I haven't bought in to. So, now he's expressed interest in co-chairing the membership committee with the local group. I wasn't reading these moves as power-plays until a few weeks ago... long story there, but a few social cues later, and unwarranted assertions of superiority, and I think I've kind of picked up what's going on. So, I've started being a bit cold, and openly shaming him for his incompetence to other members of our board.). He's been a little less cocky lately. Also, he's now serving as the campaign manager for a local politician, and I've approached the candidate, and offered to do the sort of things things I know he can't (or won't) do, and do to it for free, as an in-kind contribution. . . So, thanks, Monica! I needed to vent that, and I relate to your situation. Congrats on the new gig! And, oh yeah. Andrews Sisters! Love 'em!
