I have this.

Diane, did you ever hear that Kyuss/Michael Jackson mashup Duane played yesterday. It was nuts.

Good afternoon Diane
Avatar 12:11pm dcp:

Saw them play once and the drummer Joe just sat there smoking a cigarette and occasionally hitting a cymbal or something. Coolest drummer on earth.
  12:13pm Sean Daily:

You mean... Wall of Voodoo did something BESIDES "Mexican Radio"?!

Avatar 12:14pm dcp:

first Voodoo album is essential.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:15pm mariano:

Sean: ever hear Ravens Moreland? I think Diane might have played them. It's one of the brothers from WoV; the other one unfortunately passed away.
  12:15pm Don S:

today would be a good day to hear some Venom, if possible! thank you for your kind indulgence.
Avatar 12:15pm slugluv1313:

freakin' AWESOME!!!!! pre-Missing Foundation DRUNK DRIVING! still have this cassette myself :)
Avatar 12:16pm BSI:

huh; i'm woefully arrogant of the extended Missing Foundation family tree, but now that you mention it, I totally hear it...
  12:19pm Jim:

Hello Ya'll..Hello Diane!!...I sign on late and miss DUST!!!!
Avatar 12:19pm Diane Kamikaze:

Wall of Voodoo were amazing, MRadio was their Smoke on the Water. Such a creative killer quirk band. Still love 'em and all their pieces together and separate! BTW, no guest today, thanks for listening!!
Avatar 12:19pm dcp:

yeah I didn't know about Missing Foundation connection either, thanks. Digging Coathangers too.
Avatar 12:21pm Bad Ronald:

@BSI - I assume the term you intended was ignorant yet I wouldn't consider you either...
Avatar 12:21pm dcp:

Avatar 12:22pm slugluv1313:

if i remember correctly, this cassette was from 1983 (altho' whenever i play it for people, they always think it is something from RIGHT NOW!) -- and from when they all (except for Tama, i think) lived here in Hoboken: Peter Missing on vocals, etc., Bob Bert on drums and other percussion, Jeff Nagle (sp.?) (RIP) on guitar, Tama (and others?) on bass . . .
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:23pm tim from champaign:

I just searched "drunk driving laughing killer" and the results bummed me out. Lots of stories about DUI drivers laughing about their deed. So what the scoop on the Drunk Driving band that was just played?
Avatar 12:24pm BSI:

whoa. interesting typo. Indeed, B.Ronald. That's more of a mind-o than a typo, maybe?
Avatar 12:25pm Cecile:

Samael always reminded me of what a band with Count Floyd from SCTV would sound like.
Avatar 12:25pm dcp:

hey I think it's perfectly fine to be "woefully arrogant"
Avatar 12:25pm BSI:

The old Missing Foundation sticker still clings to my guitar, lo these 25ish years later. Gutsy little thing.
Avatar 12:28pm slugluv1313:

interview with Bob Bert talks about the Drunk Driving days -- and yes, once upon a time, Hoboken really WAS a cool/decent/AFFORDABLE place to live!
  12:28pm Jim:

I bought a used missing foundation CD in Vegas in 1999..and it still had the sticker inside..and that's where it still is..

I miss the SPITTERS
Avatar 12:30pm slugluv1313:

i miss Mark and Spitters too :(
  12:30pm Alexis:

Long life to Varg Vikernes
  12:35pm Euronymous:

Eh, maybe not so much.
  12:35pm Jim:

  12:36pm Alexis:

Hi Diane i thought you were in 70 K tons of metal .
  12:38pm Jim:

I got excited for a second..thought it was LUDICHRIST
Avatar 12:40pm Bad Ronald:

Ha Jim, went to school with Glen Cummings.
Avatar 12:41pm BSI:

  12:41pm Jim:

I used to see them a bunch back in the day. paul married a friend of mines sister and I was in a band with Mike Walter..
Avatar 12:42pm Diane Kamikaze:

@Alexis: couldn't afford the cruise this year :(
@Jim: I miss the Spitters too! They played my show years ago... provided the equipment for Zeni Geva to play on...
Avatar 12:46pm Bad Ronald:

Sweet! I remember Glen used to create these insane bondage paintings in such a way that it wasn't immediately apparent to the average viewer...
Avatar 12:55pm dcp:

I guess you just cannot have too much reverb. Trmrs is good.
Avatar 1:11pm Sem Chumbo:

A divine kamikaze wind---Wizard of Oz force---keeps knocking the divine Diane K off the intertubes here, but I need her soundtrack to this gale force storm: reset, reset, reset. Thanks!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:18pm Ken From Hyde Park:

One potential upside of no guest today is the opportunity for more Voivod!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:20pm fred:

@Ken: that would bring Cheri Pi out of hiding
Avatar 1:21pm BSI:

My first thought was "tumors" actually
Avatar 1:24pm dcp:

Yeah really, where the hell is Cheri Pi??
Avatar 1:24pm dcp:

whoa, really like Little Claw...
Avatar 1:27pm BSI:

Aye. Good claw.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:28pm coe:

'ello folks
@dcp probably nursing a post bday hangover :)
Avatar 1:29pm Cecile:

hey, coe.

I was wondering where the hell she was, too.
  1:29pm Jim:

Maybe one day a whole show dedicated to Voivod and Voivod related bands..The Kosmos Lp is pretty great
Avatar 1:30pm dcp:

oh. that would explain.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:35pm joe:

hey Cecile
MM's newest album Mastermind should have been called "How Dave got his Groove Back"
Avatar 1:36pm Cecile:

This is pretty killer stuff right here.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:36pm Ken From Hyde Park:

@Jim - DJ Meghan, who is on 6AM Thursdays, may have some tips on theme-related programming. I'm thinking of suggesting a theme of songs about fighting. The robot theme this morning went pretty well.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:37pm coe:

sorry let my secret identity slip out there.
Avatar 1:38pm BSI:

Was gonna say... I stopped paying attention to MM ages ago & preferred to remember 25 TAB fondly. but that track had promise.
Avatar 1:39pm BSI:

Mark that down as wardrobe malfunction #1 for coe.
Avatar 1:39pm Diane Kamikaze:

Here's the link to the AWAY/Voivod special from 2010 wfmu.org...

  1:45pm Luna:

I mean NOT looking at the track list. Thanks for the links Diane!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:46pm Andrew Waterloo:

  1:48pm giraffe-o:

  2:00pm Alexis:

Diane your taste on metal is outstanding !!! Excellent show today
Avatar 2:03pm BSI:

Behold. We have achieved PuppyBowl Gusto.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:04pm Mike East:

anyone know if the new Vikings movie has a good metal soundtrack? It should.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:07pm Mike East:

Avatar 2:12pm Diane Kamikaze:

Thanks Mocklah! Playlist corrected. I'm always mystified when labels/bands don't include track listings sent to radio stations. In the middle of a radio show, the only time I have to search around is..uh, when I'm on mic as you heard! Thanks for digging it up!
Avatar 2:24pm Mocklah:

You're welcome. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:26pm coe:

DK you have really been hitting the post punk spot over the last few weeks.
Avatar 2:28pm Cecile:

I gotta grab some lunch. See yall later
Avatar 2:29pm Jim Devoid:

Effigies, nice! Saw them at the Ritz many years back with 7 Seconds, GBH, Cro Mags, etc.
Avatar 2:39pm Chris from DC:

Needed me some Electric Wizard.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:48pm Andrew Waterloo:

this is awesome
Avatar 2:49pm BSI:

Holy hell.
Avatar 2:49pm northguineahills:

Yeah, Electric Wizard hit the spot.
Avatar 2:50pm BSI:

Holy hell again.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:52pm Ken From Hyde Park:

So, what WFMU DJ will be on air during the Super Bowl halftime show? Monica or maybe Dave Mandl? Will they be playing something better than Beyonce? Expect the unexpected, I'm sure.
Avatar 2:54pm BSI:

I'd love to have Kenny G on air during the game giving his live sporting interpretation.
  2:54pm Luna:

Needed me some Divorce.
Avatar 2:55pm BSI:

...singing the play-by-play reports. That would be a treat.
Avatar 2:55pm dcp:

Avatar 2:57pm dcp:

holy shit.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:59pm Ken From Hyde Park:

We should suggest that Congress tie their votes to the Super Bowl. Niners win, we get gun control. Ravens win, raise the debt ceiling. Something along those lines. I am just full of good ideas today. I attribute it to Voivod!
Avatar 3:01pm Windy City:

Another great show!
