  12:25pm Julie:

Hey Irene (or anyone else that knows), can you pls tell me what the name was of that Godspeed track, and the album? thanks!
Avatar 12:26pm Van in DC:

And happy 45th to Sarah McLachlan. FMU may not like her but I do. There. I said it.

Hi ya, Irene.
Avatar 12:28pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Lovely track from Efterklang
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:30pm Irene Trudel:

Hi Everyone? Tru-keep-ers? It's a conglomeration of my and my husband's last names. Settling slowly after a Holland Tunnel accident. BDR, nice suggestion-- granted!
Avatar 12:31pm the glowing one:

to me Wyatt has the voice of kindness
Avatar 12:32pm KP:

As always, perfect for the day.
Avatar 12:32pm the glowing one:

which is often in contrast to his lyrics
Avatar 12:34pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Trukeepers, perfect, Irene.
Avatar 12:35pm KP:

All i know of Robert Wyatt is that I'm A Believer.
Avatar 12:35pm BSI:

Trukeepers. Sounds like one of those cult groups that starts out harmless enough, until....
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm Parq:

Love this XTC song. Oh who am i kidding, I love practically every XTC song.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 12:37pm BDR:

Thank you! and wonderful segue to XTC!
Avatar 12:38pm BSI:

There's been a nice swell of XTC on FMU lately: has there been a reissue campaign? Vinyl? eh?
Avatar 12:46pm KP:

Was just looking for that Dave Gregory covers boot "Remoulds. Of course my filing system failed again.
Avatar 12:54pm Van in DC:

Oooh, I like this
Avatar 12:55pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Hello Irene & all. This program can actually make a gray and sleety Monday OK!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:02pm Parq:

JA's "Good Shepard" -- from another lifetime, but still sounding, well, groovy.
  1:03pm drewo:

Hi Irene. Loving a bit of deep track classic rock on this blustery day in Tucson. Just saw and recommend the documentary "Beware of Mr. Baker" about the wild life and times of rock's creamiest drummer.
Avatar 1:03pm Sem Chumbo:

Ah, wah wah.
Avatar 1:04pm duke:

One of my very favorite JA songs
Avatar 1:10pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Hey Drew
Avatar 1:10pm Van in DC:

More gorgeousness!
  1:11pm drewo:

Hi Sean. After the Super Bowl it's smooth sailing to Opening Day.
Avatar 1:12pm kat330:

May I join the Trukeepers even if quite late to the meeting?

Hi, Irene and all! Actually only my fingers, not my ears, are late. :)
XTC remembered the sun, and I remember a dog of a moon very much like this last month: apod.nasa.gov...
Avatar 1:14pm Sean in Bristol UK:

Great, great set, Irene
Avatar 1:16pm Van in DC:

Agree with Sean!
  1:18pm TDK60:

That new GYBE album is unsettling, as it should be!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:21pm Ken From Hyde Park:

Avatar 1:53pm slugluv1313:

Jeff Buckley's voice -- positively ethereal, angelic
Avatar 1:53pm pierre:

(and as many djs on wfmu, your french sounds perfect Irene)
Avatar 1:55pm Sean in Bristol UK:

C'est tres magnifique
Avatar Swag For Life Member 1:57pm Matt from Springfield:

Listening along to the French set--I agree completely with Sean! Didn't know Jeff Buckley sang that, nice surprise!

Thanks Irene and bonjour auditeurs!
Avatar 2:00pm glenn:

no 's' at the end. du leeb.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:00pm Matt from Springfield:

YES! "Ren & Stimpy" were indeed real big on "Lakme"!
Avatar 2:04pm slugluv1313:

"THE HUNGER"!!!!!!!! first time i encountered "The Flower Duet" in a film . . . i recall friends and i thinking how *perfect* it was, in this kinda cute and funny way :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:09pm Irene Trudel:

Too kind, Pierre. And a lovely picture, Kat. Glenn, no 's' at the end of what?
Avatar 2:11pm slugluv1313:

French pronunciation of "Delibes" -- so "s" sound at the end :)
Avatar 2:14pm KP:

Every Monday is Irene Monday.
Avatar 2:15pm kat330:

@Irene: Oh, isn't it?! But not half as lovely your sets today. BTW, I would have noted I would be leaving the keyboard again for several minutes if I thought anyone even saw me sneak in late to the back of the theater. :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:16pm Matt from Springfield:

@KP: Thus, every Monday is Happy! (At least for a few hours of it...)

This "Rainflower/Easty" is great! It reminds me of "Sunday" -- the instrumental last track on Nick Drake's Bryter Layter.
  2:17pm Sean in Bristol, UK:

I love this Jade Warrior track
Avatar 2:17pm slugluv1313:

oh wow -- JADE WARRIOR!!! ahhhhhhhh :)
Avatar 2:18pm KP:

Matt, Happy Mondays, too bad that is already taken.
Avatar 2:19pm kat330:

Buckley's death was very hard for me. I'd also lost my 18-yr. companion cat, Keats, around the same time along with a good job. Buckley's a proof that only the good (great) die young...
  2:20pm rizzy:

hi-- you played a version of "Belle Nuit" within the last hour, can anyone tell me exactly which recording that was??? it RULED, thanks
  2:21pm v k:

anyone see Friday's Portlandia? The 'Battle of the Gentle Bands' skit was cleaver and brought Irene's show to mind
Avatar 2:21pm kat330:

@slugluv1313: Yes! I was stepping out of the shower when that was on, and when Irene said she was searching for the film she remembered it in most, I was shouting "The Hunger"! at the radio. :)
Avatar 2:22pm glenn:

  2:25pm MD:

Irene...Do you know Stockton's Wing?
A passage in this piece reminded me of them...MD
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:25pm Bas NL:

Farantouri.. what a voice..
Avatar 2:26pm kat330:

@v k: I wish. We don't have cable unfortunately.
  2:30pm moose:

(i was obsessed with the hunger as a teenager totally)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:30pm Irene Trudel:

Okay Glenn, i stand corrected. MD, I don't know Stockton's Wing. I'll have to check it out.
Avatar 2:30pm slugluv1313:

@ kat330 -- i know what you mean re: Buckley's death -- i was in the local music store here in Hoboken when the news was first breaking -- the person behind the counter and i were just kinda dazed -- i was hoping that this was not true; i remember when his father had died -- and hearing this live piece again, just reminded me that even while he was still in this physical realm, Jeff sure sounded like he was singing from some other place . . . and i can definitely understand the sadness about KEATS too -- i did not lose MONDO CAT (that big grey handsome fellow in my photo!) that same year, but he was with me for 17 years -- my condolences to you
  2:32pm moose:

pier platters ?
Avatar 2:33pm slugluv1313:

no, i think Pier Platters was gone by then :(
this was at Tunes, at its original location on Washington Street
Avatar 2:34pm kat330:

Philo got the book "Dream Brother," which I devoured, and when we took a trip to NOLA and Memphis at the end of 2007, we found the last street and shotgun house Jeff lived in. Just so I could have a quiet moment in the car thinking about the awful loss.
  2:41pm MD:

Yeah Irene...you can U-tube lot's of their stuff.
I just dubbed their "Crooked Rose"Cassette to CD...I got the tape 8 or 9 years ago..in Dublin. But they have been around since 1977.
Great Players...and beautiful sounds. They were all "All Ireland" music winners one year and decided to form a band...really great stuff...
Avatar 2:55pm Sean in Bristol UK:

As always, another cracking show, Irene, thank you so much for all the wonderful sounds we all got to hear
Avatar 2:56pm kat330:

Enjoyed everything I've heard from "Fade." Our best laid plan is to see them tomorrow night with Calexico.

Yes, Irene, the few bits that were not in earshot I'll catch in archive -- it was a wonderful show!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:56pm Irene Trudel:

Thanks for tuning in everyone! Catch you next week at noon.
Avatar 2:58pm Van in DC:

Thanks for a great & wonderful show Irene! have a wonderful week everyone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:01pm Bas NL:

Thanks Irene!
Avatar 3:41pm Brian in UK:

Irene, when I mentioned last week that I was going to see Charles Lloyd, the main reason was to see Maria Farantouri. I have waited forty years to see her. If you get a chance to hear her sing Theodorakis' song Marina like me you may have tears in your eyes. Ever time it does not diminish.
