Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm George of Troy:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Ken From Hyde Park:

nationalcarousel.org...

The Prairie Rose Carousel also lives on, too; it was nearly flooded out a few years ago.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:09pm Andrew Waterloo:

The names do change colour when they're visited links
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Cory:

aha! holy fake girlfriends, it worked!
Avatar 4:10pm Dave B:

Ken - I noticed that if you click a listeners name to see their profile, then come back to the playlist, their name is somehow "ticked" - perhaps to signify the profile view to yourself.

on the other hand, the "WFMU Home" link in the top iFrame (next to profile settings/sign out) doesn't do anything. (well, it does turn grey and shifts left a few pixels, as if only the items in that iFrame are back at the WFMU Homepage)
Avatar 4:12pm sFrances from VA:

Hello all~~
Hey Cecile, The Dirty Clown blew my mind as well, I've listened to it again via the archives & shared the link.

My avatar is a photo I took of a mural under a bridge in Chicago a few years ago.
Avatar 4:13pm Loren:

I'm in! How long has this "society" been going?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Ken:

Aha Dave, you are correct! Thanks.
  4:13pm nyoukis:

TG should never have reformed, kack!
Avatar 4:13pm Cecile:

sFrances, I ordered the thing! I think my favorite is the last song. It just kills me everytime.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Ike:

That's odd -- I marked Tony Coulter's show as a favorite, but it didn't take. I guess the bugs are still kinking around in the Inter-bug-web-verse.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:14pm Ken:

Today is the very first day, Loren, we launched at 5:30 this morning.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:15pm Ken:

Ike - I think when that happens it's because your browser is not refreshing... you may have to manually refresh or delete your cache or something.. this problem may be worse in IE than in Firefox or Chrome. Not sure though...
Avatar 4:16pm Loren:

does this mean we can message other listeners? I haven't looked at the set-up yet, sorry.
Avatar 4:17pm ADM:

Yes! Blast of Silence! Noir without Par.
Avatar 4:17pm ADM:

Manages to be hard-boiled and cerebral at the same time, I think. I mean the guy is having an existential crisis!
  4:17pm common:

i love blast of silence!
Avatar 4:19pm pierre:

@ Ken : as much as I would have love to say that, yes, i'm a witch, it is Dave B that is completely correct.
Avatar 4:19pm x-ray_eater:

what happened to the arbitrary guide to popular music?
  4:21pm common:

yes...clu right?
Avatar 4:22pm frances:

Hooray!! New Sir Richard Bishop! I first saw Sun City Girls/tour with their 1st lp/opening for....Husker Du! (& have been a fan ever since) Love solo Bishop.
Avatar 4:23pm Chris from DC:

Yeah, really liking this new Richard Bishop.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Ike:

@Ken, I don't think it's the cache. Sometimes when I go to the Recent Archives page, every fill-in show's star lights up. Then they all un-light. None of them will stay in favorites. (Using Firefox 18.0.)

But given that it's the first day, that's not a big bug. Cheers! Mostly excellent so far.
Avatar 4:27pm BSI:

So this whole system is just a conspiracy to weed out the witches in the comment pool? Is that what I'm getting outta this?
  4:29pm DCE:

hahaaa BSI...so little has changed since the days of Salem
  4:33pm Rok Starr:

No pictures Please!
  4:34pm DCE:

can someone get that phone? I'm on my line!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm braveness23:

I think its a little too late for that Rok
Avatar 4:35pm chocolate monk:

important question... after last weeks Dusty Show is Fab gonna turn Clay onto 'John Gavanti'?
Avatar 4:36pm Fabio:

I don't think he could handle John Gavanti. But who can say? he might surprise us all...
Avatar 4:38pm northguineahills:

6 days late, but I'm finally getting that gringo burrito.

I have to re-sign in every time I go to a new playlist. I must be lazy.
  4:38pm Brett:

I like that minimal stuff
Avatar 4:39pm Cecile:

Fabio, I'm still trying to get your take on last week's Clay show...
Avatar 4:39pm BSI:

man, it sounds like I missed a humdinger of a clay show last week...?
Avatar 4:39pm chocolate monk:

i dunno man, he was scarily in deep on his old "popera" last week. I know that was probably back in his trucker speed days, but still, i think Giavanti might just be the revelation he needs to get back in that opera saddle.
Avatar 4:40pm Cheri Pi:

I like the space-fart effect you got going on here...
Avatar 4:40pm chocolate monk:

hmmm, not sure if thats a good thing or not.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:41pm Parq:

Dang. Work has kept me away from my desk through the whole first half of Fabio's show. Don't these foks know I have important things to see to?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:42pm Ken:

X-Ray Eater, we lost our Arb Guide data entry person.

Avatar 4:45pm sFrances from VA:

I wish I lived in the NJ WFMU area so that I could volunteer for Arb Guide data entry duties...
Avatar 4:45pm Cecile:

BSI, you might want to go back and listen to the archives. It's pretty mindblowing.
Avatar 4:47pm sFrances from VA:

I 2nd the opinion that Dusty's The Dirty Clown is mind-blowing. And I'm with Cecile wondering what Fabio thought of it...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:47pm steve:

BSI, I agree with Cecile, listen to Clay's show last week. you will not regret it, unless you suffer from a paralyzing fear of clowns.
Avatar 4:49pm Cheri Pi:

Damn, I'll listen to it! what in god's name have I missed?
Avatar 4:49pm BSI:

OK, now i'm somewhere between curious and terrified. And I have no un-natural fear of clowns, I just happen to know they're in league with the Prince of Darkness. This much is clear.
Avatar 4:49pm northguineahills:

I third the opinion that Dusty's The Dirty Clown was an unexpected pleasure.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:50pm G:

Maybe Fabio was rendered utterly speechless. Hey, it can happen! :) Or maybe that will come up during show toss
Avatar 4:51pm kat330:

Hi, Fabio! This is very nice.
Avatar 4:52pm Fabio:

I only got to hear the very beginning, so I can't really say much about it. I too will have to go back...
Avatar 4:53pm BSI:

I confess I've been long pining for Clay's more far-out excursions (long surreal monologues from the Corpulent Britisher, etc)
Avatar 4:53pm kat330:

Who likes short shorts? Me like short shorts -- mollusk avatar, Fab!
Avatar 4:54pm Philo Gristle:

Still hoping Clay will take on Hearty. Hello!
Avatar 4:54pm BSI:

Avatar 4:55pm kat330:

@BSI: Isthmus be the place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:55pm G:

Avatar 4:57pm duke:

I think I have to go listen to this clown thing. My son was alternately terrified and fascinated by clowns. Clowns are evil.

Avatar 5:08pm Jeff:

I was paralyzed with amazement as the operatic edifice which is That Dirty Clown kept unspooling unexpectednesses before me and prodding my earholes with its dirty clown tentacles.

Quoth a certain Pigeon in an earlier playlist:

"This is something I wrote in 1996 which was recorded on a 4-track cassette deck. I used a cheap Yamaha Synth and an old spinet piano with various household items for sound effects. The voices are mine. Some are manipulated by recording at various tape speeds."

Just remarkable.

Heya everyone!
Avatar 5:50pm sFrances from VA:

Kat330 & Philo: You both have been entirely too coincidental of late! Last week I talked about rewatching Twin Peaks in response to Philo's Eraserhead comment. Today, I must tell you that I re-read Fear of Flying a few months ago.
For the first time in over 30 years.
Granted, not the most appropriate book for a then 12 year old to read.....?

@sFrances Well, the photo was taken right after I'd fallen asleep during TP:FWWM. Embarrassingly so. And, well, kat & I shared similar flying dreams before we even knew each other. Coincidence? I think not!
  5:57pm Barrie:

She's givin me good vibrations/I'm gettin some excitation

Avatar 5:57pm sFrances from VA:

Hey Matt!
& Kat300, No I didn't know about Amedo rewatching T.Peaks, I just finished my rewatch this past weekend. And I feel like I want to start it again!
I tend to agree about there being no such thing as coincidence, in that Kismet has a purpose!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:33pm Matt from Springfield:

Bon appetit, Philo-kat!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:35pm Matt from Springfield:

Gilbert O'Sullivan's main problem was the lyrics -- this song has a very Wings-like feel, and even kinda good lyrics. But Gilbert needed better lyrics for most of his other songs.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:36pm Matt from Springfield:

Play with tape speeds more! :D
  6:42pm dale:

i was just listening to his first single, mr. moody's garden, on the utubes. it's that english bouncy frippery sorta kinks-like.

Night Al! Bring Clay our grievances!!

Hi OD! And hey, Gilbert O'Sullivan really is Irish! I thought he made up that name as a takeoff on "Gilbert AND Sullivan".
Avatar 6:53pm other david:

Matt - if only!

Actually, I can imagine Clay digging Horslips
Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:54pm steve:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 6:56pm Matt from Springfield:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 7:00pm Matt from Springfield:
