Listener comments!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:04pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, that was Carl Perkins! I liked that version!
The original Kenny Rogers is fine, and I like the lyrics, but it's good to shake up the style and add some variation every so often.

Hey Ted!
Avatar 3:09pm Ted:

Mel Tillis wrote it, and there's probably 100 versions.
  3:12pm Listener Simon in SF:

Hey Ted -- longtime fan, first-time playlist commenter. Love your show and your blog.
Avatar 3:13pm Ted:

Welcome, Simon.
  3:18pm Listener Simon in SF:

I don't know what I've been listening to for the past several minutes, but I think it wouldn't have been conceivable without the existence of "Sister Ray".
  3:20pm Bruce:

For the first time in awhile, I'm listening Live this week. So, I'm also able to drop a comment... Howdy, Ted.
Avatar 3:22pm Ted:

  3:22pm Listener Simon in SF:

That's how I have always got 'em, Bruce ... from the archive.
  3:26pm Sean B.:

This is one very eclectic & strange set from you today,Ted.I'm liking that.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:27pm Matt from Springfield:

Eclectic and/or strange is always good!
  3:27pm Listener Simon in SF:

Oh, wait, no wonder I was confused -- I was listening to the "Strength Through Failure" 'cast.
  3:30pm Ralph and Susan (UK):

Loving the show today, great mix, great to hear more T.Rex
  3:32pm Listener Simon in SF:

What a fuck up I am!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:39pm Matt from Springfield:

@Simon: It happens to the best of us alternate streamers! :)
  3:40pm Listener Simon in SF:

A Stones tune would sound good about now.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:40pm Matt from Springfield:

Wooohooo! Never heard this Sam & Dave one before, this rocks!
The Ichiban Artists-in-(Digital)Residence for this month.
  3:43pm Listener Simon in SF:

Albert King is kicking my ass, crackle and all!
  3:47pm Sean B.:

Scratchy 45's with played with a heavy tone arm setting sound better than any CD Ever!=LET THE GLAZE WASH OVER YOU!.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:49pm Matt from Springfield:

@Sean: Rays of Glaze brightnin' up my soul...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:52pm Matt from Springfield:

Mickey Murray--he sounds a bit like Joe Tex.
  3:53pm Listener Simon in SF:

I need to go somewhere near Wikipedia and look at the name of the drummer on that Chambers Bros. track. Frantic!
  3:56pm Bruce:

It's always time for the Ronettes.
  3:56pm Sean B.:

@Matt Yesereebob!.When I was a kid all I had was this cheapo 8 track/turntable combo; When certain 45's when start to be "unplayable" I would put a nickle on the tone arm so the record would play through the deep scratches.Ahhh...the good old days.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:56pm Matt from Springfield:

Swinging Spectorpop!
  3:56pm Listener Simon in SF:

Do I love you?! Yes I do!
  3:57pm Tom from Connecticut:

I heard that Slim Harpo met his demise while working underneath a car when the jack slipped and crushed him to death.
  3:57pm mark in toronto:

there's a nice Chambers Bros. track featured near the end of the movie Not Fade Away
Avatar Swag For Life Member 3:59pm Matt from Springfield:

The Who Actually Sell Out
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:00pm Matt from Springfield:

@Sean: Joe McG calls the final end of a vinyl disc "the Grooveyard"--way to extend the life a little bit more!
  4:01pm Tom from Connecticut:

Hey Mark, is Not Fade Away worth seeing?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:04pm Matt from Springfield:

Wow, Keith Moon solo. "Released March 1975 (US) April 1975 (UK)" That was his first album, and sadly due to circumstances was indeed his last album as well.
  4:04pm Listener Simon in SF:

Whoah, brilliant, Ted -- this whole Keith Moon thing!
Avatar 4:05pm Ted:

Glad you're diggin' it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:07pm Matt from Springfield:

Typical of band members' solo releases, Keith had a great ensemble of musician pals playing for his album.

"Guitars: Joe Walsh, John Sebastian, Jesse Ed Davis, Spencer Davis, Mike Condello, Beau Guss, Paul Lenart, Patti Quatro, Al Staehely, John Staehely, Skip Edwards, Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar.
"Bass guitars: Klaus Voormann, David Birkett, Danny "Kootch" Kortchmar, Jean Millington, Jimmie Randall, Paul Stallworth.
"Drums, percussion: Keith Moon, Ringo Starr, Jim Keltner, Cam Davis, Miguel Ferrer, Ron Grinel, James Ed Haymer, Mickey McGee, Curly Smith."
  4:08pm Sean B.:

Dogs Pt.2 = Brilliant!!!. FYI!. Without The Who, my life would have been a miserable, shallow existence.Thank you,TED!.Great spot.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:08pm Matt from Springfield:

Alex Chilton's really got the feel for early Who here!
  4:09pm Sean B.:

@Matt Fooled me for a few...
Avatar 4:09pm Ted:

There was very little he couldn't do, if he felt like it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:10pm Matt from Springfield:

I agree!

Where Have All the Good Times Gone! Get Yer Kinks Out!
  4:11pm Listener Simon in SF:

@MattfS I had a cassette of his only solo album.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:13pm Matt from Springfield:

All right! The BBs diggin' "The Letter"!
@Simon: They have a nice CD reissue out now--it has the radio spot that Ted played, among other bonus tracks.
  4:14pm Listener Simon in SF:

Those Beach Boys -- they could have been HUGE!
  4:21pm Listener Simon in SF:

Please let me love you and it won't be long - not the best dick advertisement ever.
  4:23pm mark in toronto:

Tom: I can't fully recommend the movie. The music is good, but I spent a lot of time thinking about just how much of their budget went to music rights. It's nice that it was a cast of unknowns (the central core of young people). At the end I was thinking it's something Cameron Crowe would have made 10 years ago, or similar to the movies That Will Be The Day/Stardust.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:23pm Matt from Springfield:

@Simon: Ha ha! You should've been on Amanda Nazario's playlist yesterday :)
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:24pm Matt from Springfield:

@Ted: This is OCD-finnicky, but Stills-Young Band has a hyphen...
Avatar 4:26pm Ted:

Duly Noted
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:28pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks Ted! :)

I was WONDERING if that "Terry" was Terry Melcher!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 4:34pm Matt from Springfield:
