Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

  6:07pm green mountain man mark:

as educated as I am I still to this day don't really understand how to use whom, who and when. Help me understand fellow listeners!

Greets, everyone! Make way for the Chin!
  6:10pm QuiltMaker:

This needs some tim story in the background
  6:12pm david:

i wonder if our storyteller has any relation to our friend who likes his rich foods... I forget his name...
  6:13pm Nate:

I say, sir! Would you speak this way awwl the time?
  6:13pm Nate:

I say, sir! Would you speak this way awwl the time?
  6:14pm green mountain man mark:

  6:14pm david:

Nay, ye hast useth of the back button! hehe
  6:15pm QuiltMaker:

It's like Alan Watts having a medieval acid trip
  6:15pm kat330:

@Philo: I assume by "chin" you mean Bruce Campbell, not Jay Leno?
  6:15pm Maxim Goose:

the bloke who has triskets blown up his arse by firemen with hoses-- past the kalamari ring?
  6:15pm green mountain man mark:

who here whom who do you whom is the one who whomed and did this thing with a pointed stick?
  6:15pm kat330:

@Quiltmaker: Yep, I can get behind that.
  6:16pm Philo Gristle:

@kat Indeed. There be but one whose Chin can kill.
  6:17pm Cecile:

put on starcastle.
  6:17pm kat330:

@Clay: I presume you chose "Merkin" for a surname on purpose? ;)
  6:17pm Nate:

To whom I'm speaking is Sir Pigeon! Dos thou loveth this?
Avatar 6:19pm Nemperor:

'Tis Griffen's-dung, Nate.
  6:19pm ume:

Happy 2013 & 2049! - Warriors of Free Form!; note: is Fabio still sweeping?
  6:19pm kat330:

Clay, are you even there? Or were Fabio and you only Memorex?
  6:20pm Philo Gristle:

Be Kind, Rewind.
  6:20pm QuiltMaker:

I think Clay went out for a smoke
  6:20pm Mites:

We gots to eat, too.
  6:21pm Cecile:

Nemperor was also a subsidiary record label of CBS in the 70s.
  6:21pm Fred:

Does anyone find "English" accents irritating?
  6:21pm kat330:

I hope Clay isn't introducing Fabio to the dark ways of the cancer stick.
  6:22pm bobby:

it beats occupy folks
  6:23pm kat330:

I'd like to hear a S.O.C. story-off-the-cuff battle between Clay and Hearty White.
Avatar 6:24pm Nemperor:

bobby ... lol
  6:24pm green mountain man mark:

@fred-I don't find the genuine accents, all the many of them that are British. I really find annoying the fake and generalized accents Americans try to give when pretending/acting.
  6:24pm Fred:

10-4 Bobby... But Clay, always remember, we love you man!
  6:24pm steve:

im with you kat... i'd love to see Clay and Hearty White in the same room at some point
  6:26pm Nate:

Tall tale duel! Great idea!
  6:26pm Cecile:

anyway. I will see you all later.
  6:26pm kat330:

If there can be a "battle of the DJs" music event, why not a story event? And you could add amEdeo to that mix (probably more I'm just not familiar with in the FMU firmament).
  6:27pm QuiltMaker:

well Clay's "From Audubon To Exira" was fantastic! this... ummm... needs some work
  6:29pm Philo Gristle:

Better pimply than hairy, methinks.
  6:30pm Cecile:

I would like the story w/o the accent.
  6:30pm kat330:

@QuiltMaker: You have a playlist link for that?

@Philo: Or Mole-y?
  6:31pm QuiltMaker:

  6:32pm kat330:

Thanks, QM!
  6:32pm Nate:

How does thou read this way without laughing one's arse off?
  6:33pm david:

haha that's the one Maxim - good idea on the Clay/Hearty, kat330
  6:34pm bobby:

there is now a bustle in my hedgerow.
  6:34pm kata:

this is great I love it !
  6:34pm kat330:

You sure on that link?
  6:34pm david:

Nate - he's had a few blooper cutaways on occasion - rare but hilarious...
  6:35pm kat330:

Aha, I found it -- sorry!
  6:39pm kat330:

@Clay: Are you boycotting the comment factory tonight? :,
  6:40pm gail:

totally luvin this!
  6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

Heh, comment factory!

Hi Dustyites! I was actually home earlier and tried to listen while eating, but my WFMU app kept cutting off--checking in on my "mainframe" computer now. I love Clay's accents, will listen to the whole story (and Fabio banter!) later!
  6:42pm kat330:

Hey, Matt! If anyone can get Clay to magically appear here, you can! :)
  6:43pm kat330:

Does anyone think this tale will have a happy ending, launching 2013 with a blithe beginning?
  6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

Well, I say "Speak of the Matt.." but Clay might not be summoned so easily. Then again, with the "Magic of the Clay" I think I can cause him to summon himself! :)
  6:45pm glenn:

why i love best of craigslist (apropos of nothing) - http://www.craigslist.org/about/best/ott/2764832533.html
  6:46pm kat330:

I've always adored how Bergman's "Seventh Seal" could make so merry and have such an uplifting ending of such a terrible time.
  6:47pm Philo Gristle:

Greets, Matt!

  6:47pm Nate:

Is Sir Pigeon doing his own background music? It has me mesmerized. . .
  6:48pm Night Al:

The best thing for my post-partum holiday depression. Enough yuletide cheer and Santa Claus merriments. Candlelight and Poe-ish recants fill the rooms. HA HA HA HA!!
  6:48pm dinatekno:

  6:49pm Matt from Springfield:

Evening, Philo!
"Throwdog Clay"--is that a skater nickname for Clay? :)
  6:49pm kat330:

WHERE did he kiss her?
  6:50pm QuiltMaker:

somewhere VERY medieval
  6:50pm steve:

i haven't heard the word "bosom" as much as i would've liked
Avatar 6:51pm Clay:

Matt ... The Loyal.
  6:51pm QuiltMaker:

Avatar 6:51pm Clay:

And all of you ... Thank You ... for SITTING THROUGH THAT! Whoa.. I have to get ready to go now. Enjoy Starcastle! Always Remember ...
  6:51pm kat330:

@QM: oh, then, the bellybutton.
  6:52pm Nate:

Bravo, Sir Pigeon! Bravo-OH!
  6:52pm ?:

Le chateau des astres!
  6:52pm kata:

who is the author Clay ?
  6:52pm Matt from Springfield:

Why welcome to thine own board, Sir Pigeon! I missed a lot of the story but am intent to listen to the whole thing.
  6:53pm kata:

very well read btw !
  6:53pm kat330:

@Clay: Will you explain, if not now, in your archive notes the how and why of your story's inception? I am a kurious kat!
  6:53pm dinatekno:

Clay - THANK you for making my evening in the office a much more enjoyable experience.
  6:54pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: Duly summoned, or summoned Clay to be summoned. Now time to pay for these Dark Arts of divination! "Put the penny in the skull! Yes! Now..." ;)
  6:54pm sFrances from VA:

Great idea, kat330!

Always remember~!
  6:54pm G:

I'm guessing CP is nervous about reaction/comments to something that is different from his usual shows, and therefore leery to be active on comments and expected to respond. He always says how insecure he is.

Don't be insecure, Mr CP :)
  6:54pm kat330:

Will a ha'penny do, Matt?
  6:55pm steve:

bravo, good show
Avatar 6:55pm Clay:

This story was written on the night of Dec 30th. Read in basically one-sitting. January 1, 2013 I should have re-written it, but I decided to just play it. I want a Cigarette.
  6:55pm peter:

listened on the radio but came here to say i enjoyed it!
  6:55pm Matt from Springfield:

@kat: If you don't got a penny.
If you don't got a ha'penny--God bless you!
  6:56pm kat330:

Yes, Clay, always remember: you have every right to be right proud of the show! :)
  6:56pm Matt from Springfield:

Great! Thanks peter!
  6:57pm seang:

nicotine gum is all right
  6:57pm Philo Gristle:

And Clay, as kat suggested earlier, a duel with Hearty White would be an EXcellent idea!
  6:57pm kata:

Your craving will pass in a minute Clay... You wrote it ? Wow! You're a genius. I think it's great.
  6:58pm kat330:

NOOOOOOO, the cigarettes are sucking away your confidence, Clay! I will give a full penny if you *don't* go have a cig!
  6:58pm dinatekno:

Oh man! Clay AND Hearty White?!?!?!?! My glee would know NO BOUNDS!!!!
  6:58pm Matt from Springfield:

@Clay: And remember: I very much like your dramas as well! Be sure to do some of those every once in a while.

And, if you're going to be out, could you *puh-lease* re-play the full "That Dirty Clown" episode? It's been gaining traction on FMU lately! :)
  6:59pm QuiltMaker:

Stay strong Clay... the only way to get through the first few days is brute force!!
  6:59pm G:

Starcastle lead vocalist doing his best Jon A. :-)

I first heard Starcastle in an editing room at CBN in Ann Arbor about 1977-78, where my roommate was program director or something. He knew I listened to prog, among other things, and the record company had been pushing Starcastle on college stations :-)
  7:00pm Matt from Springfield:

Always Remember!
And if possible, Always Archive as well!

Have a good night, everyone!
  7:00pm dinatekno:

Don't do it Clay! I quit a 25+ year/2 pack a day habit. You can do it my friend! It's so worht it!!!
  7:01pm Nate:

Remembereth always!
  7:01pm sFrances from VA:

Cigarettes killed my dad when I was 8, how's that for insentive to quit?
  7:02pm Philo Gristle:

Be Kind, Re...member! Night, Owl!
  7:03pm Matt from Springfield:

@Philo: Mollusk! You've updated an old Blockbuster line for the modern "Pigeon Age"!
  7:05pm Philo Gristle:

@Matt Yet the story made me think Pigeon Age is medieval! Confucious is good.
