Hi, Charlie! How is it that things pile up to make me busiest on BDN afternoons?? I'll try to change that up in the NY, but cannot this week. :/ I'll be listening all the way through (as much as possible!) though.

Keep the convo love-ly and lively here, dear ones assembled today, for me to read and smile at some later time! :)
  Thu. 1/3/13 11:42am Katya Oddio:

Brr! A good morning here for hot breakfast in bed -- under the warm covers! Hello, all.
Avatar    Thu. 1/3/13 11:47am charlie:

  Thu. 1/3/13 11:55am Uncle Michael:

HELLO.
  Thu. 1/3/13 11:56am Michael:

ooofa! It was 5 when I walked to the train. You've got more snow though too.
  Thu. 1/3/13 11:59am ndbob:

Hi Artie and Jan!
Thank you, @Katya!
And, yes, happy new year!
Thu. 1/3/13 12:20pm listener james from westwood:

now i want to go back to new year's eve and resume my honeymooners binge. :)
Thu. 1/3/13 12:21pm listener james from westwood:

katya, i like winter, but the temps here have me envying every 1 of your 50 degrees.
  Thu. 1/3/13 12:23pm Uncle Michael:

Charlie...Brady Kids, not Partrighe Fambly.
Avatar    Thu. 1/3/13 12:25pm charlie:

Oh, whoops, Uncle Michael, yeah, thanks!
  Thu. 1/3/13 12:26pm Katya Oddio:

On the north and east sides and just south of the city, there are snow covered mountains. Fun to visit, and nice to live at the base of them. Bear in mind that to people accustomed to triple digits, these 20s-60s temps are brrrr. All is relative.
  Thu. 1/3/13 12:27pm Katya Oddio:

You'd think that people would have had enough of silly... erm. Well, I'm glad we haven't!
Avatar    Thu. 1/3/13 12:32pm charlie:

It helps to throw in a few ghazals sung in Urdu to break up the silly :)

Sure does Charlie:)

Thu. 1/3/13 1:10pm Matt from Springfield:

Thu. 1/3/13 1:25pm Matt from Springfield:

Cristina (Monet)--always a fun listen.
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:27pm gary levine:

yeah matt, she sounds like a soused deborah harry
Thu. 1/3/13 1:37pm Matt from Springfield:

A soused, Quaalude popping, Marilyn Monroe imitating Debbie Harry. Her great version of "Is That All There Is" is how I learned about her. "Disco Clone" is more a novelty, but still a great disco parody (and features a young, uncredited Kevin Kline).
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:37pm Michael:

I was down Manahawkin way last week. Some of the devastation is incredible.
Thu. 1/3/13 1:41pm listener james from westwood:

i can't even imagine. i wonder how lavallette is sometimes, but i'm afraid to google pictures. spent many a stretch during childhood summers down there, and all up and down that strip.
Thu. 1/3/13 1:45pm listener james from westwood:

w00t! blossom dearie and one of scott williams's music beds! perfect together!
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:46pm Uncle Michael:

Blossom is simply the best. *sigh*
Thu. 1/3/13 1:46pm Matt from Springfield:

And what a Dearie she is, too!
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:46pm gary levine:

blossom you are the most
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:47pm Michael:

James - I grew up in Monmouth County and spent summer on the beaches in Sea Bright (and sandy hook). Sea Bright is in real bad shape - they still have a curfew at night. The beaches are all hurting. We made it down to Seaside which as you've seen is in bad shape. Amazing to see FEMA trailers and National Guard in NJ.
Thu. 1/3/13 1:47pm Matt from Springfield:

Thanks LJFW! Now I recognize that brass-y instrumental Scott always has towards the first hour! There's that long medley instrumental too (maybe this is a part of?), some of which I recognize and some other tunes I didn't.
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:48pm ndbob:

intriguing set here Charlie!
Thu. 1/3/13 1:49pm Matt from Springfield:

And, the required song for this show!
Thu. 1/3/13 1:50pm listener james from westwood:

i hope things go better for sandy's victims than for katrina's, all over this area.
matt, i'll occasionally hear songs from scott's peppy bed music in public and start whistling along. in a just universe, i'd meet my future spouse, whistling the same song to herself, for the same reason, passing in the opposite direction.
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:51pm kat330:

[breathlessly] I *did* make it on before the end!

@Charlie: Without a doubt, one of the loveliest BDN's of all my multi-month listening -- *thank you*! :) I didn't hear you mention it in your 2nd set mic break (?), but that Donovan "Please Don't Bend" was a gift I'd forgotten -- chills from it!
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:52pm Buck Turgidson:

I recognize that voice
Thu. 1/3/13 1:54pm Matt from Springfield:

*hands kat a paper cup of Gatorade*
Great job, kid! You made it! Cool down and keep moving at a slower pace!

@Gen Turgidson: That voice used to be all over the place. I love that actor!

Thu. 1/3/13 1:55pm Matt from Springfield:

@LJFW: And like in the movies, you'd both meet in a crowded place, lost in thought while whistling the same Scott W bed tune, bumping into each other at a right angle, and beholding a love at first sight...
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:55pm kat330:

@Matt: It's too damn cold for Gatorade! Some cocoa will be very nice. :)

  Thu. 1/3/13 1:58pm Uncle Michael:

Thanks Charlie!
Thu. 1/3/13 1:59pm Matt from Springfield:

@charlie: How serendipitous you had the "Love" theme on Jan 3--today marks my parents 32nd Anniversary. And kat told me her and Philo's Anniversary is the day after, so way to go capturing the romance of January!
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:59pm kat330:

My tagline fits in here: When finally their minds' eyes met, it was love at second sight. :)
  Thu. 1/3/13 1:59pm ndbob:

@kat uhoh:)
