Martin Short/Paul McC were great tonight on SNL--Martin began by singing on top a piano played by Paul Shaffer! It reminded me of the last time someone sang on top a piano played by Paul Shaffer there :)

Hi Dan! I know you've been busy, and since last weekend and this were busy for me too, may want to hold off on a Meetup until after the New Year. I need to get some more emails for local fans to better coordinate, as well.

Numero Group always brings the jams! If public transport is to be expanded, we def need some more eccentric soul omnibuses!

And for those of a more 80s vein, a double dutch omnibus.

@Matt: They used to make transcription discs that I believe were 16" or even 18". I'd have to check on that, though.

Doug S.:

The first concert I ever went to was supposed to have Ravi Shankar as the opening act, but he was ill. He was opening for George Harrison on his North American tour in '74. Billy Preston, who was in Harrison's band for the tour, did the opening set. True fact: My afro was bigger than his then.
Avatar 2:26am
Joe McG:

Doug, you had a mighty impressive afro! I saw Ravi about 10 years ago with his daughter. Greatness.
  2:31am
Matt from Springfield:

Good way past evening, Doug!
I enjoy those pics of your 'do as well!
  2:33am
Doug S.:

My hair starred as the character Bernie on the sitcom "Room 222." Practically.
Avatar 2:34am
Joe McG:

I'm bowled over that you're tuned in, Doug! You're up mighty late in PA!
  2:37am
Doug S.:

Yeah, but I'm the West Coast of PA, so the night is, um, young.
Avatar 2:39am
Joe McG:

Whenever I'm in PA (where I'm from), the nights feel very, uh, lengthy.
  2:39am
Matt from Springfield:

BEST (Mountainside)Coast!
I heard the 'fros on Room 222 (and the rest of TV) were on a better pay scale than the actors below them.
  2:41am
Matt from Springfield:

Monterey Pop Festival, a seminal performance for Ravi! I liked his instructions in Indian music, so I kinda know what they mean when the track says "Teental".
Avatar 2:46am
Joe McG:

There's a funny story about Ravi tuning up for 15 minutes and hippies applauding. He says "If you liked the tuning, wait until you hear the first piece!"
  2:48am
Brian in UK:

Mornin' Joe, Matt, Doug!
  2:49am
Matt from Springfield:

I like that story!
Morning Brian!
