  3:05am Martyn:

Beautiful music for a dark morning.
  3:07am Jay/ London:

  3:08am T-Zero:

  3:09am T-Zero:

A little American Primitivism for this wet and primitive earlier hour :D
  3:16am Steve:

So far so good
Avatar 3:20am Bill Mac:

Oy! Yep raining here in JC. No vocals up to this point in the show. Really diggin the Chris Corsano percussion stuff. Be prepared to hear more of this in the near future. Morning all!!!
  3:23am T-Zero:

No rain at the moment... we're between... Was diggin' the Blackshaw myself... but I'm a fan of American Primitivism like Blackshaw, Jack Rose, Fahey, Leo Kottke
  3:25am T-Zero:

Nice to be here at this hour for once... Got my Beaumont classic roast goin' so hope to last through
  3:27am KP:

Hey Bill. Trying to ingrain myself into the landscape that is Jersey City.
Avatar 3:27am Bill Mac:

I'm a big fan of Kottke's '6 and 12 String Guitar' album - the album that made people run out to but guitars and sadly sell them because they couldn't play it like Leo
  3:28am Jay/ London:

morning T-Zero what is a beaumont classic roast never heard of it this side of the pond
Avatar 3:28am Bill Mac:

Hey KP - how's that workin' out for you?
  3:29am KP:

Went to Iris Records in JC. Guy behind counter never heard of Nick Cave. It was great though got new vinyl Shuggie Otis
  3:30am Jay/ London:

@ KP was the guy very young ?
  3:31am T-Zero:

Morning, Jay :D Beaumont's a domestic coffee brand. I think it's actually The Texas Coffee Company in Beaumont TX, but unsure

@Bill, Yep! I'm a fan of that album, My Father's Face and Mudlark
  3:31am KP:

Well tonight waited in rain for shuttle bus that never came. Five of us jammed into one cab for ride to penn at 2 am. I was not the biggest of the five. Made the late train.
Yeah so it's working out great.
  3:33am T-Zero:

@KP: I hope you promptly presented him with some Cave...
  3:33am KP:

He was fairly young, but not very. He asked if he was a singer/songwriter. This is a store that looks like a back room at WFMU.
  3:46am T-Zero:

Hmmmm... Will need to check out Mount eerie a bit more. Hadn't heard them before
  3:47am KP:

Bush Tetras! Very awesome .
  3:55am larraby:

props from Portland ---first time zzzzzzzero hour listener and liking your mix! Now I'm gonna have to find out more about The Cravats!
Avatar 3:56am Bill Mac:

@KP Bush Tetras just released an unreleased album from 1997 . Apparently no one told them art punk had been over for a few years by then
  3:58am T-Zero:

Is there more than one Mount Eerie? Discogs has a list of 11 albums since 2004 plus their long list of singles.
Avatar 3:58am Bill Mac:

Yo Larraby, welcome to the festivities. is there a Zappa tribute band based out there by any chance?
Avatar 3:59am Bill Mac:

I only got a look at something very briefly, T. Could be that the new release is just the single as of now
  4:02am Brian in UK:

Mornin' Bill & friends. Quick dip in & out today pre Christmas visiting so early departure.
  4:06am Emile:

Hey y'all , diggin the set
  4:07am T-Zero:

The B Side is Anglepoise Cymbals (Calvin Johnson)
  4:07am Brian in UK:

See you on the big wheel.
Avatar 4:08am Bill Mac:

See you on the big wheel in the Village of Hamstermen - sorry but it sounds like a box office disaster.
  4:10am Brian in UK:

Bill your pronounciation of Cravats got me confused. I think it is not like Lenny. More the thing you wear round you neck.
  4:11am T-Zero:

Heh, haven't heard this Bowie track before either... I liked it! :D
Avatar 4:11am Bill Mac:

Got it Brian... Kru-vatz' - accent on 2nd syllable.
  4:12am Steve:

The Tony Visconti Orchestra. Is where they first met?
Avatar 4:12am Bill Mac:

Bowie was better pre ziggy
  4:13am Brian in UK:

Got me wanting to see THe Third Man now. What a film.
  4:14am Brian in UK:

Ziggy & Zithers
Avatar 4:15am Bill Mac:

Visconti buggered up a couple T-Rex releases a bit with his overblown arrangements too...
  4:16am Steve:

He came to around Heroes for awhile
Avatar 4:17am Bill Mac:

I came to 3rd Man via the Anton Karas music. Have it on a 78. It's a great film. My top 5.
  4:20am T-Zero:

I think Heroes was the first Bowie I ever bought...
  4:22am Madi:

Ok I have a request for "She's The One" by Roy Harper.
  4:22am Jay/ London:

it would have been Jim Morrison's Birthday today
Avatar 4:24am Bill Mac:

Madi, sure, I can get some Roy on... maybe some Doors Jay?
  4:26am Steve:

Never short on 'popular' requests - Waiting for the Sun
Avatar 4:29am Bill Mac:

That's a goodie
  4:29am Madi:

Hey thanks! Might as well request "White Man" by Material while I'm at it, like it was 1980 (Bill Kelly played it once). No pressure.
Avatar 4:31am Bill Mac:

Funny, wasn't the guitarist for that band.... BTW, 3rd man theme makes a brief appearance in the Residents tune - sheer happenstance
  4:31am Madi:

I once worked in an office that rented out the back to a stockbroker guy. Nights he was partying we'd hear "Waiting For The Sun" really loud, maybe 11:00 a.m., then watch the hookers emerge!
  4:32am ?:

iris records did have a Residents vinyl release. oh well reason to go back next week.
  4:32am Jay/ London:

now i might dig out the third man this weekend
  4:33am Madi:

Residents new box set comes in a full-sized refrigerator.
  4:36am Brian in UK:

@Madi What is it called 'Kelvin ate her'
  4:41am KP:

Odd about the eye thing being included in the set. Way back one of them was stolen and they never tried to to replace it saying it would be too expensive.
  4:43am KP:

Hey name belongs on that residents post, It's also about Iris records. They had a nice vinyl Residents release.
Avatar 4:44am Bill Mac:

I was going to mention that. I guess they don't have the money to buy their own collectors items. I'll bet they're valuable to somebody
  4:44am braingallop:

Hello people of WFMU-landia
Avatar 4:45am Bill Mac:

Yo yo BG!!!
  4:46am KP:

“Don’t push me, ’cause I’m close to the edge/I’m trying not to lose my head.”
  4:46am Madi:

Oh thank you.
Avatar 4:47am Bill Mac:

Which GMF song is that....
  4:47am braingallop:

I like this song a super duper whole bunch
Avatar 4:47am Bill Mac:

This is great Madi, thank you!
  4:48am Bono:

Don't push me I'm close to The Edge.
  4:49am braingallop:

It makes me wonder how I keep from going under
  4:50am Brian in UK:

I am hoping to get a smart 'phone soon. If I get the application will be able to listen on the move.
  4:53am braingallop:

The WFMU app is really freaking awesome :D
  4:55am KP:

Hahahaha. Bono.
I am so stealing that.
  4:56am KP:

Hey it's BG and the Bee Gees! Never heard tha song. v .cool.
  4:57am braingallop:

  4:57am KP:

Just read Rolling Stone dubbed "THe Message" as greatest rap song of all time. ALso water is wet.
  4:58am Jay/ London:

@ Brian The phone app is cool used it the other week when i went to see my brother out in the countryside
  4:58am Madi:

I am partial to "King of Rock".
  4:59am KP:

Having iphone with WFMU app changed my life. Not for the better mind you ...
  4:59am Brian in UK:

Christ Mrs Miller.
  4:59am Emile:

Georgina is the old english lady
  5:00am Jay/ London:

why not for the better KP
  5:00am braingallop:

Gotta love the ubuweb stuff too
  5:01am KP:

i had iphone pretty early and WFMU had web site with a player on it. Primitive but got it done.
  5:03am KP:

Made me listen to the freaking station morning noon and night and fork over my trust fund.
  5:03am Brian in UK:

Will be listening to Sory Kandia Kouyate in the car. What a voice.
If you play 'Souraressi' from LA VOIX DE LA REVOLUTION on Sterns you will hear such a powerful voice. If you can fall in love with a voice I did last week when I bought the record.
  5:03am braingallop:

I want a trust fund
  5:04am KP:

WFMU has mine.
  5:04am Emile:

Woo hoo!!
  5:05am Madi:

@KP har har if I had a smartphone I could at least leave the house now and then.
  5:05am braingallop:

This is awesome
  5:06am Brian in UK:

Here is a listen.

Gottas cut & run. Safe driving, Bill. Have a great weekend, folks.
  5:06am KP:

most amazing thing is that hurricane blew our office into jersey city. Now that is cool.
Avatar 5:06am Bill Mac:

Thanks for the heads up Emile! Two minutes of perfection!
  5:08am braingallop:

I'm in California...you guys are up late
  5:09am KP:

i listen at home. in car, on train, at work and back.
  5:09am Brian in UK:

We are up early, mate.

Agree about ubuweb. Hoping to see Jarry's play next year.
  5:10am braingallop:

KP=super fan
  5:10am KP:

Black Friday Record Store Day.
  5:11am KP:

BG, im just an ordinary guy with an iphone and a dream.
Avatar 5:11am Bill Mac:

I'd say all these guys Saturday morning listening habits are pretty sick - thank God!
  5:11am braingallop:

Oh yessss Velvets forever!!!
  5:12am KP:

i do think working in jersey city, taking the Path ... that's going too far even for me.
  5:12am braingallop:

I'm just a faux California girl missing the east coast
Avatar 5:14am Bill Mac:

Which part of you is faux - the Cali part or the girl part?
  5:15am braingallop:

Haha touché, Bill! I'm a real girl and a fake Californian.
  5:15am T-Zero:

Maybe you should play I'm a boy I'm a girl :D
  5:16am KP:

Actually i work nights and have all my life. WFMU gets me where im going when it gets dark before dawn.
  5:16am Madi:

or "Los Angeles" by X.
  5:17am KP:

Bill i was going to ask but im too much of a gentleman ... obviously you are bound by no such constraints.
Avatar 5:17am Bill Mac:

Good to know BG! You don't wanna get those things mixed up! X huh?
  5:18am braingallop:

nice @ Madi
  5:18am braingallop:

Sheesh. Tough room...
  5:19am KP:

I am a Boy. Reminds that i saw the Who WEdnesday at garden. Loved it. It was 12th time. First was in 1968, when they were the Pictures of Lilly Who.
  5:20am braingallop:

I listened to this record via NPR and I'm just not feeling it
  5:22am KP:

Is Tvyek a brand of skis?
Avatar 5:22am Bill Mac:

Sorry BG, we're just a group of socially inept music geeks. we don't know how to behave around female visitors. I myself am trying hard to fix my own problems.... which record is that?
  5:23am Emile:

Bill you're turning on the gas!!
  5:24am braingallop:

The Evens...I love Fugazi, but it just feels strange to listen to somehow. I didn't mean to offend anyone with my comments.
Avatar 5:24am Bill Mac:

@Emile Take Off!
  5:25am Emile:

KP i saw the Who in 2001 (i think) at the Garden, probably the best show i ever saw... And i was stupidly not an enormous fan at that point. But then i was, immediately.
  5:26am KP:

Braingallop, i like your comments.
Avatar 5:26am Bill Mac:

@BG I didn't know they've been together for like 10 years. It's OK, I only know "Waiting Room" from Fugazi. There are purists out there that like Minor Threat and not Fugazi so much
  5:26am braingallop:

Thanks @ KP
  5:27am Emile:

Although Sonic Youth at the Bowrey Ballroom in Oct 2001, their first show post-911, was a close 2nd.
  5:29am braingallop:

Never actually saw Sonic Youth play, but I saw Thurston walking around in Massachusetts once
  5:30am Madi:

I love "The Trains" by The Nashville Ramblers.
  5:30am M:

There's the Velvet Underground 45th Anniversary Deluxe Edition then there's the Super Deluxe 6 Disc Box Set http://tinyurl.com/byc8m7x
  5:31am KP:

Braingallop, having seen Sonic Youth i feel you got the better of the deal.
  5:31am braingallop:

  5:32am Madi:

KP has been making me laugh
  5:33am braingallop:

It's his wife
  5:34am KP:

That's a six CD set on ONE ALBUM!
  5:35am KP:

Who's wife?
  5:36am braingallop:

The Evens@KP...the dude from Fugazi and his wife
Avatar 5:37am Bill Mac:

I thought as much
  5:38am braingallop:

Your comments are great@Bill, don't sweat it :D
  5:38am KP:

Oh. that was the dissonant one? Riffy?
  5:38am Emile:

I'm gonna lob a stink bomb here: you can listen to as much Velvets and Lou as you can swallow (and I willfully swallow a lot) on Spotify. Without shelling out the cash. I'm not on Spotify (yet) but I'm thinking about it. If it's a toss up for my cash, it goes to WFMU. Discuss.
  5:39am braingallop:

Grooveshark is good too @Emile
  5:39am braingallop:

Grooveshark is good too @Emile
  5:40am braingallop:

Sometimes the app causes me to double post...sorry about that
  5:41am Jay/ London:

happy birthday Jim ....good choice Bill !
  5:41am Steve:

Discover it on FMU, play it and all related on Spotify
  5:42am Emile:

True dat, Steve.
  5:42am Jay/ London:

I think Grovesshark is better then spotify
  5:43am braingallop:

Agreed @Jay
Avatar 5:43am Bill Mac:

I was just going to ask what the benefit is of coming here rather that having an option like Spotify or Grooveshark?
@Jay Believe it or not, we don't have Morrison Motel!
  5:43am KP:

Well ... i support WFMU and i try to support artists. I have downloaded a lot of bootleg stuff (mostly before i got the FMU app). Plus ... ahem ... my band is on real records, we made money and have been played on radio. It gives you a different perspective!
  5:44am KP:

Ken comes in at night and searches the place for copies of Morrison Hotel.
  5:44am Emile:

Still find I get much more when Bill or John Allen or Irwin etc. is making the musical choices. Screw them algorithms!
  5:44am braingallop:

My mother once admitted to me that she was disappointed that I wasn't born on Morrison's birthday...I came out 3 days too early
  5:46am KP:

Ha! BG that must have been quite a burden.
  5:47am Madi:

@Emile I agree. Pandora was fun for a while, but they just couldn't get that algorhythm of surprise.
  5:47am braingallop:

It still is @KP lol
Avatar 5:47am Bill Mac:

I Since you guys represent both FMU supporters and the general huddled masses you had a fair idea of how we fit in the grand scheme of the casual (ok maybe not casual) consumer
  5:48am braingallop:

I also love 8tracks...it's kinda like making old school mix tapes
  5:48am Madi:

Yeah I'm huddled
  5:48am KP:

HaaaaaaaaH. Mother ....Yes, daughter ....
  5:50am KP:

I am old. i saw the Doors with Morrison.
  5:50am Emile:

There is also a principle involved, of course. This station belongs to its supporters, and no one else. That's huge in this day!
Avatar 5:50am Bill Mac:

So it's surprise............................................................BOO!!
  5:50am Madi:

@KP What's your band?
  5:51am braingallop:

That's awesome @KP
  5:51am Madi:

@Bill, you startled me!
  5:52am KP:

King Penguin on Fruits de mer records. We are only on a couple of comps so far more coming out.
  5:52am braingallop:

Can we hear KP's band on here?
  5:53am Steve:

The Doors at Hollywood Bowl was just redone on BluRay. An interview with John Densmore:
Nice recording but not quite the ragged Jim of earlier days, too pretty.
  5:53am KP:

Boo who!
Avatar 5:54am Bill Mac:

Yes we can, I'll be sure I at least have a release or two here next week!
  5:54am KP:

Use FMU's search thingy and we come up. sOrry to hijack your show Bill.
  5:55am Madi:

King Penguin! Oh my. Awesome to meet ya.
  5:55am KP:

i saw them toward end. kind of dull.
Avatar 5:56am Bill Mac:

Well you guys were great this week, kept me honest. Show's winding down, come back next uh-week-uh and we'll try to squeeze out another one. stay sane@!
  5:56am KP:

i sang this song to Irene in the room you now occupy Bill. jus two weeks ago. not to brag.
  5:56am braingallop:

What's the difference between a king penguin and an emperor penguin? You've got the makings of a good joke there...
  5:57am KP:

Thanks Madi but you migjhthave mistaken us for somebody important.
Avatar 5:57am Bill Mac:

Awesome KP... how'd she take it?
  5:57am braingallop:

Bye @Bill...thanks for an awesome show
  5:57am Madi:

Thanks for a fun show & the good company all
  5:58am KP:

There is a difference. not sure what.
Avatar 5:58am Bill Mac:

everybody bring a punch line next week,
  5:58am KP:

Thnks Bill. You make loving fun.
  5:59am Jay/ London:

thanks bill time all gone again see you next week
  6:01am T-Zero:

Take care. Nice to "see" you all again.
