This special show was originally going to be part of WFMU's 31 Days Of October silent fundraiser, and then Hurricane Sandy and its post-tropical friends hit Jersey City and much of the surrounding area, knocking us off the air and making it impossible to broadcast from our studios. After picking up the pieces we found ourselves in a $250k financial hole due to costs and lost revenue from the cancellation of our record fair, equipment damage, and the fact that the storm hit during the last week of that silent fundraiser.
So, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Hell And High Water emergency fundraiser! We're breaking our silence and asking on the air (in addition to online) for your help as we try to recover from the storm.

  9:18pm john:

Hey Evan! Nowhere to adjust that echo but UP!

  9:19pm Barkevious Munchie:

Can Pablo Cruise be far behind?
  9:20pm Holly in NC:

Huh. Heard this song (smoke from a distant fire) a million times, never knew the artist(s). Lifelong learner here ;-)

Uh, anyone notice how Rupture said EFD's name correctly tonight!?!?! It's likely I imagined it...

Man, that Davies dude can really hit the friggin' post.

Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40pm efd:

  9:41pm Danne D:

Shit, if Rupture is saying EFD's name right, you know that WFMU must be in a crisis :)

Hi Amanda :)

Btw, interesting that NJ brought back gas rationing to really give EFD's show that 70s feel
  9:41pm cubicle carl:

The Ohio Players shared the bill with the Ramones on Don Kirshner's Rock Concert when originally broadcast, if memory serves me correctly.

  9:53pm Holly in NC:

So I've been caring for 97 yo on fixed income can't pay me, why I've not upped pledge - anyway tonight sitting for surgeon, in bed so tall there's stairs to get in, sheet thread count gazillion, just climbed in, oh yeah - and a friggin' wolf spider just leaped out of the baseboard. This house is the cleanest house in the universe. I am, simply, cursed.
  9:53pm Danne D:

I think Wham Bam was more clever ;)
  9:55pm Wolf Spider:

  9:55pm Danne D:

:( awww hang in there Holly
  9:55pm Danne D:

Could it at least be a Howlin' Wolf Spider?
  9:56pm Weems:

Funk, 1 night a week is not enough, cuz I can listen to 70s every day! Know you've got some Sweet packed. Polly Brown? Penny McLean?

  9:57pm Thierry:

Hi efd and all! Holly, I think the presence of spiders is sign of a sane house.
  9:57pm Danne D::

I will never post again . starting NOW!

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:00pm efd:

Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01pm efd:

AWS, I gotcha - that was how I took it as well. Hi Thierry, Danne D, and all listeners! Thanks for tuning in!
  10:02pm tim:

Evan! Did you ever see Pablo Cruise live? I did, oh, god, I did.
  10:03pm 12539:

What kind of surgeon keeps a pet wolf spider?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:04pm efd:

tim, I never saw them, nor was I interested in seeing them!
  10:04pm Holly in NC:

Honkin, you are actually preferable to Wolfie, sigh. Absence & familiarity a potent combination. Plus - you're not spider. Jumping spider. Dark furry jumping spider omg.

Hit song that is
  11:19pm john:

@Weems, that would have to be the worst song of all time, "Lights" by (pardon my French) Journey.
  11:20pm Holly in NC:

Built this City by a mile ...
  11:21pm Glenn L:

5705! Was hoping you'd play this one!
  11:21pm sweet cheri:

  11:24pm flashback:

  11:25pm Julie:

  11:28pm sweet cheri:

hiya julie,
  11:29pm Weems:

We Built This City is. 80s. What is worst of the 70's. funk?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:30pm efd:

Weems, I'd have to put "Blind Man In The Bleachers" way up there.
  11:31pm john:

I'm sticking with Lights, but that's tough competition!
  11:35pm Barkevious Munchie:

Stillwater. Sweet christ.
  11:35pm Rickwaukee:

Weems don't like Stones' Angie - would you prefer Helen Reddy's Angie Baby????
  11:36pm Holly in NC:

Any number of Billy Joel options...
  11:36pm mb:

hm, never realized it before, but I wonder if Zappa was ripping on Mink with Jones Crusher, the similarity could be coincidental or parodiotic
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:37pm efd:

Just the reaction I was looking for, Barkevious.
  11:43pm Weems:

Def prefer Angie Baby over Stones Angie. Helen Reddy was hot! I Am Woman is a kick ass song. No joke! Love it!
  11:43pm G:

B side of Wings ""Mull of Kintyre", which is really well known in UK, not so well known here
  11:45pm Barkevious Munchie:

Can Anti Pasti's No Government be far behind?
  11:46pm Rickwaukee:

Haven't heard Mull O'K in quite awhile - gonna hafto Tube it
  11:48pm Julie:

isn't this with Elton?
  11:48pm Julie:

Or am I thinking of some other Elton duet
  11:48pm G:

I get the impression Mull/Girls School was really a double A side, and in the US the rocker Girls School got play that Mull (the big hit in the UK) would never have gotten here...
  11:48pm steve:

finally, some flute!
  11:48pm 12539:

Where's Kiki Dee?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:49pm efd:

It is, but strangely he's not credited on the record!
  11:49pm Rickwaukee:

spot on, G
  11:49pm Julie:

it's gotta be, it's on Rocket
  11:49pm G:

wiki: ""Bad Blood" was a popular song written by Neil Sedaka and Phil Cody. The song, with uncredited backing vocals by Elton John, reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1975, remaining in the top position for three weeks"
  11:49pm Eric:

this was my favorite song when I was 6
  11:50pm mb:

Hell yeah! EJ and NS on BB. ROCK!
  11:51pm sweet cheri:

  11:51pm Rickwaukee:

  11:52pm Tom - K'way Bklyn:

Elton had Island Girl shortly after that took the #1 Spot just after Bad Blood ... least what it said on WiKI ....
  11:53pm G:

Julie means the Rocket label that Bad Blood came out on, cheri
  11:53pm Rickwaukee:

75 was very Elton - Pinball Wizard
  11:54pm Weems:

  1:56pm Ajax:

Sweet Ellen Foley track! She really held her own out of Loaf's shadow!
  2:09pm efd:

Oh duh, you're right about "I Can't Control Myself." ! I was thrown off by the label name being "Zombie."
