A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

  9:04am Brian in UK:

Good after. Windysunnycloudy allatonce. Leaves changing colour, love this time of year.
  9:05am Titus in GA:

  9:06am Brian in UK:

Forgot to ask, has the cold gone south?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am trouble:

thank you for asking brian. my cold has flowered into inflamed vocal chords! but it is getting better day by day. still not back to my soprano tones...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:10am trouble:

helloooo cheri pi, mike east and titus,
  9:10am Titus in GA:

hooray, julianna barwick!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:11am trouble:

today's artist if emily ferretti from australia, i do believe
  9:12am Adrian in London:

Hello Trouble, hello listeners around the world. Love this Julianna Barwick track.
  9:12am fred:

Good morning Trouble and listeners. I like this Julianna Barwick, and I'm eager to hear that Mi Gu session
  9:14am Adrian in London:

Hey, I always type 'place' as 'palce' too! :)
  9:14am annie:

good morning all; sorry to hear about the throat issues, trouble. ..and are you accepting requests for performers here on the comments section? if so i'd be happy with anything by karen dalton..
  9:17am doca:

hi trouble, sorry for the throat problems too. great selection so far, by the way.
  9:20am Krypt:

Hiya Trouble and listeners, way to go playing Konx Om Pax at the end of last week's show, when I informed him of this he was stoked:)
  9:22am kenneth:

Great music to go with breakfast.
  9:23am hamburger:

and lunch!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:24am trouble:

i made buckwheat cranberry muffins for the band and all this morning. haven't eaten but a nibble yet...
  9:25am Brian in UK:

Andwellas Dream - 1969 drummer Gordon Barton by any chance.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am trouble:

yes indeed brian that's him
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:27am trouble:

cool, krypt!
  9:29am Mike East:

good idea, kenneth. I'm gonna try this new brand of waffle.
  9:29am pierre:

Bonjour Trouble !
Hourray for Mi Gu day !

@fred : yeah, i'm doing some long work today, not sure i can go out :(
  9:30am Adrian in London:

Something important I discovered yesterday: A WFMU tote bag makes an excellent makeshift rainhat when one is caught in a sudden downpour without an umbrella.
  9:32am Mike East:

came very close to buying idea box a week ago. The condition wasn't worth the price, though.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:32am trouble:

fantastic adrian, I want a picture of that!! bonjour pierre! ca va?
  9:35am hector:

good morning from London..
a long time fan.....love u
  9:37am doca:

often throat inflamation voice equals sexy voice
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:39am trouble:

good morning hector, cheers! thanks doca
  9:40am Scottm:

You sound like big trouble.
  9:40am Brian in UK:

Adrian, there is a great double bill on 3rd November. Free Grasscut gig at Union Chapel then Murnau's Nosferatu at the Barbican with six piece ensemble.
  9:40am pierre:

when it's Trouble, ça va toujours ^^
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:41am trouble:

scottm don't make me come out and solder those headphones...
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:42am trouble:

merci bien pierre!
  9:44am Scottm:

Operation: Headphone Solder already underway!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:46am trouble:

you rock! @ the maiker faire this weekend in queens i saw infants soldering. those wacky science kids...
  9:47am Titus in GA:

Wow! Julie Driscoll! Haven't heard this in years! Nice one, Trouble
  9:48am Mike East:

I've got two pairs of headphones that have needed soldering for several months now. Unfortunately, I'm not very good with such things. Maybe I could get one of those infants to fix my stereo sound.
  9:48am Cecile:

I wish I got to solder 'n' stuff. I got a chemistry set as a kid and was never allowed to use it unless dad was there. And dad acted like it was HIS toy. llolololol
  9:48am Cecile:

Damn Fat Albert really got down when he was off camera.
  9:49am doca:

hi cecile! it's been a long time.
  9:50am doca:

i only knew this music from the dr. john recording. i liked it more funky.
  9:50am Andrew Waterloo:

As a skilled solderer I tend to advocate simply buying new headphones. But, it really depends on where the break is and the quality of the headphones. Usually headphones have horrible stranded string-like wire.
  9:51am maja:

Hi trouble, hi all. Glad to be here once again in real time.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:52am trouble:

shhhh andrew, don't scare scottm, he's a newbie and we want him to forge forward!
  9:53am hector:

hey brian and Adrian,
i want in on that gig.........fellow londoner here,, pleasure to make ur acquaints.......where is that bill?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:53am trouble:

good morning maja!
  9:53am hector:

please hit me up that info.. sounds interesting
  9:53am Cecile:

hiya, doca!
  9:55am Brian in UK:

trouble, scottm is not making horse shoes just yet. Serge Forwarde was a French singer in the 50s.
  9:56am Cecile:

In lawyer Louie Nizer's book, there's a great story about how he caught Morrie Amsterdam (from the Dick Van Dyke Show) plagiarizing the original artist, and managed to get a settlement for the original songwriter!
  9:57am Scottm:

My band is called Infants Soldering.
  9:58am pierre:

I love this Father's Children track !
  9:58am matt:

is something going on with the transmitter? because where I live at the far limit of 91.1 a NPR station has taken over the usually clear WFMU signal this morning.
  9:58am Nate in Detroit:

Was that "rhum et coca cola" song used in a film/tv show/commercial recently (or maybe not so recently)? i know i've heard it before, but i can't place where...maybe it's just from wfmu
  9:59am Brian in UK:

Hector as requested, Nosferatu is selling fast.
  10:01am Mike East:

@matt - FM signal coming through pretty clear in my locale. Have you got your tin foil helmet on?
  10:02am hector:

  10:02am Brian in UK:

Hector as an early start to the day try this Thomas Schutte exhibition.
  10:03am matt:

@mike never take it off. and i wiggle then hold my antennae into all sorts of uncomfortable positions while wearing it.
  10:05am βrian:

J'adore la voix rauque !
  10:05am Cecile:

you actually sound loads better.
  10:06am sugarwolf:

90.1 was horrible last month, but it's better now.
  10:06am Cecile:

nate, it's also known as "drinking rum and coca cola" The Andrews Sisters (among lots of other people) had a hit with it.
  10:08am pierre:

some infos on "travelling french actors crossing borders v/a"

  10:08am Cecile:

a friend of mine and I were talking about Zoe Saldana potentially playing Nina Simone in a movie, and of course Diana Ross as Billy Holiday comes up...
  10:08am matt:

okay, maybe it's the weather. billie holliday's miraculously appeared.
  10:09am BruceF:

Your voice - Va, va, voom! Conflicted, as its got to be a real pain to deal with.
  10:10am Cecile:

I think someone should remake Mahogany with a Billie Holiday impersonator as revenge.
  10:10am HEAT:

HEYYYY!!! The description of this show is magical! I am pretty sure this is my first time listening to your show and I am feeling it. Good morning!! (extra exclamation points courtesy of a lot of coffee)
  10:11am ffrr:

Anthony Hopkins as Nixon, now there's casting.
  10:11am Cecile:

hey, heat!
  10:12am Cecile:

hahaha, ffrr.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:12am trouble:

good morning heat! welcome aboard!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am trouble:

i could see maya rudolph pulling off the anger and intensity of nina very easily. she does not look like her at all though. i want to be the costume designer on that gig, nina had some outstanding looks!
  10:15am Cecile:

She's still be better than who they are looking at.
I'd think someone like Kelis, too, if she's any good at acting.
  10:18am ffrr:

What about Macy Gray?
  10:20am Jennique:

Cecile, I did read that article about Zoe Saldana playing Nina Simone in the NYTimes and it made me pause. They do raise some interesting points about identity and how much it was part of Nina Simone's music. Not sure who I would cast. Jennifer Hudson? She's got the pipes for it.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:21am trouble:

good morning jennique? how is everyone doing at the lonely homestead?
  10:22am Krypt:

What about Michael Cera?
  10:23am Cecile:

we were talking about Jennifer, Jennique, too. I was wondering about someone like Jill Scott.

Awright! BOC! I wonder if they have heard this????
  10:24am Scottm:

Love this record. Quintron & Miss Pussycat were on Treme this week! :)
  10:24am Cecile:

hahahhahha Crypt.
I kind of still love him, though.
  10:24am Krypt:

  10:24am Neg-guh-tor:

Where did you get this 9th ward Quintron record, Monica? I got it from a friend who is playing on it. She's a friend of Maria's, too.
  10:25am Jennique:

Hey Trouble, pretty quiet down on our farm. Still trying to adjust to the hole left by our little pooper. She is greatly missed. Thanks for asking.
btw - really like your windows and electric lights in the coop! I want to move it with them!
  10:25am Cecile:

hahahhahha Crypt.
I kind of still love him, though.
  10:26am Jennique:

Oops, I meant to say move IN with them.
  10:27am Cecile:

My friend (with whom I was debating Nina) lived in NOLA for years. When he got the first season of Treme, he brought over gumbo and also had 3x5 cards from which he explained nuances of New Orleans culture from time to time.
  10:27am HEAT:

Hi Cecile and Trouble!
  10:29am Titus in GA:

making coffee is a mandatory requirement in my life:)
  10:31am groucho:

yay, you're on. I like this show

  10:32am hector:

i picked a good day to skip work.. =D
thanks trouble
mi gu ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10:33am hector:

cool.. more goods..
thanks brian
  10:37am common:

this is greeeeeeeet!!
  10:38am Cecile:

titus, yup.
  10:41am Adrian in London:

@Brian in UK @Hector Yes, those shows look good but there's always loads on on London. I'm seeing iamamiwhoami at the QEH next week, and Crime and the City Solution later in the month.
  10:43am Mike East:

this is sounding great. I'll catch the rest in the car. Thanks for the show, trouble! feel better.
  10:43am Cecile:

whoa, Adrian. That's a good month.
  10:50am Titus in GA:

in fact, Cecile, im enjoying a cup right now...this is great session, by the way.
  10:51am annie:

sorry to bust this party up; day off, piping hot bath, breakfast, and a trip downtown to see a pal ... it's been great trouble, hope your throat recovers; you Do sound much better, though... i see you there cecile..
  10:51am Adrian in London:

@Cecile, Oh yeah, and John Cooper Clark this week! Oh, and Efterklang/John Grant at the end of the month. Yes, it does seem like a good month.

@Trouble Loving this Mi-Gu set, thanks.
  10:52am fred:

Great session. i hope I'll get to see them live someday
  10:56am doca:

is it already over? i was enjoying it so much. is there any website where i can listen to more of their music?
  10:57am Cecile:

  10:59am fred:

@doca: there are a few songs in the recent archives of several shows, try the advanced playlist search on the front page
  10:59am hector:

thanks adrian.
iamamiwhoami sounds good!
  11:01am Adrian in London:

@hector Yeah, she seems great. It was Mary Epworth on Twitter who turned me on to her. Hey Trouble, you might like Mary http://www.maryepworth.com/ Sort of English prog/folky kinda thing.
  11:05am Brian in UK:

Adrian, getting your John Grant fix!! Looks like it is sold out and he is not playing anymore dates. Do you know if there is a new John Grant in the pipeline?
  11:07am Adrian in London:

(Sorry to monopolise the comments everyone) @Brian I think he's writing one. And I'm seeing him in Brighton cos there weren't many tix for the Barbican left when I looked.
  11:11am Brian in UK:

Adrian, nice day out at the seaside. There are some great gigs in Brighton. We saw Richard Buckner there back end of last year.
  11:12am Titus in GA:

Gotta jet, Trouble:( Another very rad show from ya, today, thanks. Please get well soon! Cheers!
  11:15am Brian in UK:

Adrian, it is a shame the gig is not around Guy Fawkes 'cause the folks of Lewes nearby really like to celebrate. When we went down some had face paint like it was a New Orleans scene. Spooky.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:17am trouble:

MI-Gu have a record coming out today! called "choose the light" on chimera...look for it at fine stores everywhere.they are playing live at union pool oct 4, and bell house oct 12, that gig is with mike watt!!
  11:20am Adrian in London:

There's no way in hell I'm going to Lewis on bonfire night. Not a fan of immolation…!
  11:28am dcpat:

dug the jana hunter tune, hanx.
  11:28am dcpat:

  11:51am Adrian in London:

This has been a cracking show. Hope the lady with the sexy husky voice feels better soon! x
  11:51am tim from champaign:

Yeah, Cecile, are you getting prepped for Billy Jam's show already?

Great show trouble. The Saharan Cellphones comp is one of my current favorites.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:52am trouble:

  11:56am dcpat:

josephine foster!!
  11:58am Chinchilla:

  11:58am Jennique:

Enjoyed the show Trouble. Take care of that little voice box of yours!
  11:59am Cecile:
