Maggie B:

From mom in the pj's on W 90th, I moved with a roommate to a railroad apt. near the East River in the 70s...then to the greener pastures of Staten Island. Three places there...then in 2000 to Harriman in upstate NY, and finally to my humble little house in Rock Tavern. So, I'm not too much of a mover.
  7:48pm
Listener Schned:

Several thought bubbles in re relocating, I'll break them inta byte-size chunks-

monica:

break it down schned!... yo, valerie!...maggie, great moving map, gal...annie, how many times?... What, T'scott, around the block?... dale, sounds about right...
  7:54pm
Dean Landsman:

22 moves that I can recall. 9 in NY. Mind boggling to think of the various sizes of these places, from enormous to smaller than a postage stamp. What I really need is an accessible storage facility and some kid or team of kids to convert all my albums into digital files. I might still want those album covers, though. And then there's all those books, egad.
  7:55pm
texas scott:

my grandfather would cry in his wheelchair at the sound of Bob Wills.
24th move.
  7:56pm
dagwood:

Congrats on the move Monica. Moving is good. I add up 26 times for myself, including CA, IL, WI, AZ, MA, VT and Spain. I thought I was a mover until I saw Annie and TX Scott.
Avatar 7:58pm

dagwood- good god!! ... dean, let's hear it for storage! nyc'ers would die like the collyer brothers without it....

  8:03pm
Listener Schned:

Used to move (within Manhattan no less) almost annually!! 'Cause ya could!! Then again all the worldly possessions = 1 car load (mattress on the roof)!!
  8:03pm
CB1:

Ted Lewis
  8:03pm
Chris A:

Oops -- that was supposed to say 10 moves, not counting moving around during college and grad school. Pfft.

  8:10pm
Mike "Stalker" Sin:

Why do you keep running from me? You always end up moving once you find me loitering in your neighborhood!

Hey, Syd Nathan and Tom Carvel might be the same person... based on the voice.
  8:10pm
Valerie:

The Sylvie Vartan gif makes me want to put on my falsies
  8:11pm
Dean Landsman:

The old codger who was President of WTFM (some of us fondly recall its change from BuMu to NY's first soft rock station) had been what he characterized as a "song peddler" back in the 1930s. This is what made him want to get into the radio business. His name was Sid, too. With an i, not a y. This sounds a lot like Sid, early era music promo man.
  8:12pm
forthebirds-amatuersogwriter:

sounds like an snl skit?!
  8:16pm
Chris A:

Hope you love the new 'hood Monica. It sounds promising; I used to live in Astoria and I'd move there. I still traipse through there occasionally.

  8:23pm
Listener Schned:

4 affordable rooms in the East Village were the game-changer; but even with the country cottage "where I can put stuff" space is full-up!! Agree that books/LPs are yr heaviest boxes!!
  8:24pm
Glenn L:

I've moved 19 times in my (almost) 45 years. All over lower Westchester and then to the 5 Boroughs of NYC before moving to Downtown JC in 2010. 19 moves includes two moves to different floors of the same building.
  8:24pm
forthebirds-amatuersoNgwriter:

(he could have reviewed 10 demos inthe time he pontificated reiterated regergitated his pont)
  8:25pm
Roy Boy:

Monica, make sure to make a pilgrimage to Andrew Jackson High when you move to Queens. That's where the Shangri-Las went to school.
  8:26pm
Valerie:

Baby Come On -- beautiful song. Makes me feel dreamy. Ahhhh......
  8:27pm
Dean Landsman:

Hortence sounds a bit like Lil Green doing ballads,
Avatar 8:31pm

Listener Schned, yeah all my vinyl is going, selling it all.... Valerie, totally agree...
  8:36pm

  8:36pm
Parq:

Moved once when I was a baby, once as a kid that I can remember, once to Boston after college (missed my friends), once to Harrisburg PA (long story), once into the City and twice within it. If you also count into and out of dorms for four years of college, and my returns from Boston and Hburg to the ancestral home before the final move to NY, I think it's 17 moves. Four states total, never outside the northeast.
  8:39pm
Nashville Noah:

I moved here to Nashville from Jersey City (was in JC about 15 years) about 8 months ago and I'm JUST NOW unpacking my records....
Avatar 8:43pm
monica:

Nashville Noah! Are you happy overall with the move? We miss ya up here... Parq - you're a bonafid schlepper....
  8:43pm
anne:

oh moving...MI, Seattle WA, HI (3 islands), NYC (2 boroughs), and now Chicago IL. Betwn Seattle and HI, some back and forth over a few years due to work. Then there was a NYC/Seattle/Tokyo/NYC jaunt within a year that involved moving. I did stay in the same place growing up though, from K-12 in the Detroit suburbs. Good luck on the move, Monica! I miss dearly the food in Queens, esp all around where you'll be.
  8:44pm
Listener Schned:

Mo, no, not your collection!! Surely there are strapping young FMU-field hands to get that gold to JC for you?? (wah!) p.s. I reckon you'll love it in Sunnyside, and don't forget Woodside on those dog walks!!
  8:45pm
Chris A:

Who is that in the pic that says "snap crackle and drop"?
  8:47pm
