Billy "8th District" Jam:

What's up WFMU listeners? Thanks for tuning in today for part one in the two-part series of "Put the needle on the record" shows from Budapest, Hungary that will include music + interviews with various folks including previous guests on this show - Dusky Diana and Tommy Turnstyles of American founded hip-hop crew Community Education (previous guests on this show both in NJ and Germany - last year's live remote from Dusseldorf) and the wonderful and hospitable folks at Tilos Radio - a community, non-profit Hungarian radio station that has very close ties with WFMU. Part of this week's and next week's Budapest special will include a live music session at Tilos Radio. I will also be playing hella Hungarian hip-hop which even if (like me) you don't understand the language I think you will enjoy the energy / vibe /sounds of and sick beats. Thanks to all the wonderful people in Budapest - which is a really great city that I recommend u visit if you have not already. My man Dave Van D, who is board op'ing today back at the WFMU studios in NJ, has visited Budapest and loved it too. -----

Much love to Billy Jam for exposing hiphop around the globe as the diaspora spreads. Temple of Hip Hop, rap is something you do, hip hop is something you live.

Big ups BILLY JAM!!!!

Odd-ness, a friend of mine suggested visiting Hungary, and I just dismissed it, ignorantly, as a place with nothing to see

Its a great sign that I've made it home from work on time to catch the start of Billy Jam. Way cool that you're in Budapest. I'm half Hungarian, and I've been there only once.
