JOE! Blasting the radio and starting to cook dinner. I so appreciate the always solid and great company of your program. Add that you are looking especially sharp these days!

Evenin', Chop Scott! Thanks as always for saying howdy. My new goggles are about 60/40 pro, so I may go with 'em!

Eerily quiet in Comments Land tonight. Everyone must be watching the Big Game.

That's it!!!

I really like it, I think I might revive it. I have to find out what they actually did on that show. Featured stars from Paris, I guess!

meghan:

Me too. If only archives went back that far.

Matt from Springfield:

What's Paris Star Time?
  1:11am
Matt from Springfield:

Virginny is cooled off for once! From some rain! All is going well at the moment!
Avatar 1:12am
Joe McG:

Paris Star Time was a regular program on the 1959 WFMU schedule. I'm thinking of changing the name of the show.
  1:18am
Matt from Springfield:

Surface Noise is so ideal! If Paris Star Time would be revived, it should focus on progressive, advanced recordings from the late 50s era, like Raymond Scott electronica and John Cage pieces.

Joe McG:

Maybe you're right, Matt. There was another show called The Bible. I could call my show that instead.
  1:23am
Matt from Springfield:

"The Bible: "King" Joe's Version"! :D
Avatar 1:26am
Joe McG:

Ha ha! Either that or I could call it "Classical Moderne." That was another one. 1959 was a hot year on the FMU schedule!
  1:28am
Droll:

I like the show name "The Bible". Every show you could spin the small tablets with the big holes until the sand runs out of the half-hour glass. The segment could be called "Monotheism File".
  1:28am
Matt from Springfield:

Ah, how wonderful. Not only did that represent great new beginnings and possibilities for this station...but EVERY timeslot was available! Would never be less crowded again!
  1:28am
Matt from Springfield:

Oh, and BIG PLUS to new Association bed music!
  1:35am
Matt from Springfield:

Appropriate Searchers!
We are out too...our ears are out in Jersey City!
Avatar 1:38am
Joe McG:

Glad you dig the new bed, Matt...trying to vary it a bit these days.
  1:40am
Matt from Springfield:

A station-wide diversification program? Seems to be popular to shake it up a bit nowadays.
  1:43am
Matt from Springfield:

From I can count offhand, it seems you had 4 main beds before:
1) the organ based instrumental of the Rascals "Groovin"
2) the jazzy guitar and flute
3) the gentle harp (or autoharp?)
4) the synthy beats and melody with the "slide" effect

All are good, but adding some beds can make this mix even better.

Joe McG:

Well, in my case rigor mortis may be setting in, so I'm trying to stave it off.
  1:44am
Matt from Springfield:

Then of course, the Kevin Ayers! Always keep that after SF, and to close the program! And, of course...the Yip Yip Martians at the beginning!
  1:45am
Matt from Springfield:

Philadelphia International!
No Tell Motel, that's on the cheatin' side of town.
Avatar 1:49am
Joe McG:

I've got to have some safe blankees. Kevin Ayers is just aural comfort to me, like a fuzzy quilt for my ears.
  1:53am
Droll:

Joe, Good blankee for your bed-music pun!
  1:55am
Matt from Springfield:

GO Couto & Mulligan!!

"Mullco", wonder if this was self-released! :)

Hey Brian.
634-5789, you must live in Soulsville UK!

Incidentally, the Marvelettes "Beechwood 4-5789" works out to almost the same thing: 234-5789.

Matt Soulsville is unseasonally sunny today. Going to the cricket Test Match shortly.
