Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

That's it for another episode of The Dusty Show ... one that aired several days after it was supposed to. Better late than never. Anyway ... I hope you enjoyed it. There certainly was some spirited interaction on the Accuplaylist. People keep alluding to Occupy, so I suppose there is some confusion after I followed it for so long and now have seemingly stopped. I have actually been checking up on it frequently, but many events in the city have been taking place in Queens, Brooklyn, and the Bronx and it isn't easy for me to get there. I do want to follow-up soon and get an update. I have also enjoyed just having general conversations with people on the street and I know it will stay fairly political as the election draws nearer. Seems like I was just doing shows about the LAST election and here comes another. Constant campaign mode, but, in all seriousness, MUCH at stake. What else .... hmmm ... oh yes, email. Send me one. Send me two. Here's how ----- dusty@wfmu.org. You know how I crave it.

I hope you're enjoying your summer. I have been. Just now I am homesick for Iowa and wish very much that I could see the old hometown. I miss it. Take care, my friends. I appreciate your continued interest and support. Talk to you soon. Until then ... always remember.

evening folks!
  6:11pm Philo Gristle:

First time hearing Bryan Adams on FMU. I'm inexplicably both impressed and disappointed.
  6:11pm Bad Ronald:

Hi Phi, Lo, Katt330, Watts360, Kata, other david and Clay. TDS is a gem on the FMU roster. Keep your finger on the street pulse and always remember!
Avatar 6:12pm Clay:

Kata and Other David. Good to see you!
  6:12pm Philo Gristle:

So that's where the pizza boat disappeared... into an edible keyboard design!
Avatar 6:13pm Clay:

Ha hA PhILo! Bryan Adams. He had an old disco hit he did where his voice was sped up. Let Me Take You Dancing. Good one. I Like Summer of '69, too.

Phil, one day these designs will make me lots of money... which I can then give to FMU!
  6:15pm Philo Gristle:

Saw him live after Reckless tour... still have a soft spot for that album (Summer of 69, Run To You, It's Only Love with Tina Turner). Just hate all the ballads that came afterward.
  6:16pm Watts360:

Brian Adams....wow. Still waiting for a DJ brave enough to play Bruce Hornsby

OD: Forever constructing from edible materials! :) Hi!
  6:19pm Watts360:

weird BTO vibe on this one
Avatar 6:20pm Clay:

Hornsby. Didn't he write Boys of Summer? One of the best end-of-summer songs ever. Henley had the hit. I hope I'm correct.
  6:20pm Flambulaz:

Clay, I like your show, but your politics and idiotic "liberal" ideas on social issues are really a drag. At any rate, I know from your politics that you are over 40.
  6:20pm kat330:

Thing about Anderson Cooper is I could swear I heard the news of his "outcoming" at the first of the year! Must have been in the alternate, Fringe universe I travel to and fro.
Avatar 6:20pm Clay:

jackyk, I hope you enjoyed that song.
Avatar 6:21pm Clay:

Over 40 and loving it and my liberal ways! Good to see you on the board Flam.
  6:22pm Watts360:

Hornsby worked with Henley on End of the Innocence. Henley wrote the lyrics... Hornsby on piano. I do love Boys of Summer though... lots of good imagery there.
Avatar 6:23pm Clay:

End of Innocense (slaps forehead) ... that was it. I'm russet with embarrassment.
  6:23pm jackyk:

Reminded me of my school bus in Caracas circa '78

  6:23pm dale:

hey clay!funny to hear someone that works for the guv'ment doesn't love america. i guess she sees it's ugliness from the inside
Avatar 6:24pm Clay:

Great, jackyl. That's exactly what I wash hoping for.
  6:24pm Flambulaz:

I think we need to end the so-called "gay rights movement". I want to live in a society where homosexual wannabe thought-police try to outlaw my religion.
Avatar 6:25pm Clay:

Good insight, Dale. And good to see you today!
  6:25pm jackyk:

how did you know it was a hit song?
  6:26pm Flambulaz:

I was just a few blocks away from the WTC when israel bombed it.
  6:26pm kat330:

Oh, and scrolling way back up, hi back atcha Good Ronald!
Avatar 6:27pm Clay:

I didn't jackyl. I found it in a box at a flea market. I noticed the artist, Darwin, and the label, were from Ecuador.
  6:27pm Flambulaz:

  6:27pm dale:

my friend's cousin just passed away - he was a police first responder to the towers. died of lung cancer, never smoked. sad.
  6:27pm Night Al:

Anyone who thinks there is little difference between the Democrats and the Republicans isn't paying attention to the world. Health Care Reform was passed by all 3 branches of the government now and the GOP reps still are trying to repeal it. The DISCLOSE ACT is next.

Anyone who wants to believe in an omnipotent being in control of everything is welcome to do that in my opinion. But personally, believing a cognizant, omnipotent being created the ENTIRE universe, is not an intelligent belief. Religion in my opinion is ancient people trying to explain life, and help them deal with loss. I get it, once when I thought I was truly going to die, my only thought was 'GOD HELP ME!". So I guess that makes me somewhat of a hypocrite.

The Hubble Space Telescope was pointed to the deepest darkest area of our space(The Deep Field Experiment), and the resulting photo was filled with entire galaxies as far as the eye could see.

The universe is incomprehensibly vast. Why would a god create something so vast only to fill with one tiny planet of life?
  6:28pm Flambulaz:

Today is a great day for all the people who will now be FORCED TO BUY "INSURANCE" THAT THEY DON"T WANT OR ELSE BE ARRESTED BY IRS GESTAPO!!!!!
Avatar 6:29pm Clay:

Peace. Love.
  6:29pm Flambulaz:

janet Winer napolitano is a great jewish lesbian hero who is saving us from evil imaginary israeli "al queda"!!!!! I'm so grateful for the way this jewish sociopath lesbian has by children molested by TSA goon squads to save us from imaginary "al queda" boogeymen!
  6:29pm Watts360:

awww the WFMU accuplaylist has taken a turn for the worst.... Politics divides, music unites.
  6:30pm kat330:

@dale: Philo and I had a visit to NYC already long in the works for early October 2001. So just 3 weeks after, we visited ground zero with our Manhattan hosts. I had the flu at the time and have always wondered what might have been sucked into my lungs. Such a powerful, awful sight...
  6:30pm Flambulaz:

yeah, you're right. politics divides. Clay's show is really good, even if I think his politics are totally out to lunch. btw, clay, I'm up here in pine hill, so it's cool to hear about Downsville and Arkville!
  6:31pm kat330:

Ignore the flamer(s).
  6:33pm Flambulaz:

Jon Pistole, director of the TSA, is one of the great jewish homosexuals who is saving us from imaginary "al queada" boogeymen, by hiring goon squads with long criminal records to grope our young white children!!! Thanks so much Jon!!
  6:34pm YETI BOB:

Ignore the haters and political BS. Clay Pigeon is GREAT.
  6:35pm Night Al:

Ignore the Republican(s).
  6:35pm kat330:

Yes, Yeti, the haters are abominable.
  6:35pm Flambulaz:

Ignore anyone associated with the "church of the subgenius", which is just a front for OTO satanists who enjoy consuming "cakes of light" as part of their rituals.
  6:36pm YETI BOB:

Subgenius are innocent fun-loving folks.
  6:36pm Flambulaz:

  6:37pm Flambulaz:

"subgenius" are satanist murderers. Google "kevin underwood" to find out what those satanists are all about. They are sick sick people.
  6:37pm Hermann Goering:

I like John Edgar Hoover and I love America and Alice Cooper:
  6:37pm Kurt V:

Especially dusty today!!
  6:37pm dale:

kat, i lived in east village at the time and the smell, sort of an electrical fire and cement dust smell, permeated for a long time. guiliani told everyone the epa tested the air - baloney. if they did, he didn't reveal the results
Avatar 6:37pm Clay:

I love Poco.
  6:38pm Snowman:

I'm not abominable!!! But I am from the Himalayas.
  6:38pm YETI BOB:

Flambulaz seems to be an antisemitic conspiracy theorist.
  6:38pm dale:

rose of cimarron, man!!
  6:39pm kat330:

Dale, yes, the smell was truly overpowering, even in my ague-y condition, which might have been an odor blessing.
Avatar 6:39pm Clay:

I want Bigfoot to be real, and aliens. Not that Chupacabra thing, though.
  6:39pm YETI BOB:

Flambulaz, you need some SLACK
  6:39pm Night Al:

My first TV appearance was on the BOZO show in Windsor, Ontario around 1967.
  6:39pm Flambulaz:

yeti bob seems to be a satanist hiding behind the "subgenius" thing, that was created by the Viacom corporation. Google "kevin underwood" to learn about what "subgenius" folks like yeti bob are into.
  6:40pm Philo Gristle:

I didn't realize Jim Messina was in Poco. His now 'rejected' Jim Messina & The Jesters album is one of the great surf albums!
Avatar 6:40pm Clay:

Night Al, coincidence ... Bozo later in this show.
  6:41pm YETI BOB:

oh christ, subgenius is just a joke, i got turned on to it on this very radio station which used to play their tapes years ago, a good antidote to growing up in a fundamentalist household, nice to laff at religion sometimes!
  6:41pm Almasty:

I'm a little bit abominable.... but deep down I just want to live in peace. Which is why all the cryptids love Clay.
  6:41pm Night Al:

Fond memories from being on BOZO...
  6:41pm Flambulaz:

These people talking about God should be arrested by a homosexual gestapo for expressing religious viewpoints that are hateful and offensive to homosexuals.
Avatar 6:41pm Clay:

Tim Schmidt and Michael Anthony. Great background, high-note men.
  6:42pm YETI BOB:

David Byrne is a subgenius. So is Todd Rundgren.
  6:42pm kat330:

@Clay: I'd like there to be ETs, too. Two things I want to have happen in my lifetime: ET contact and a female U.S. president. I'm not sure which is less likely.
  6:42pm Nessie:

Hear! Here!
  6:43pm Flambulaz:

"subgenius" is run by a freemason satanist named Doug Smith, who uses his "subgenius" crap to lure in hapless young people from broken homes, and then invites them to "starwoord" and "winterstar" which are two so-called "pagan" (aka satanist) festivals that he sponsors. The guy is a sicko, who literally calls the two jews who committed the Columbine mass murder atrocity "saints". Doug Smith is a sick satanist and anyone who follows him is either one of his satanist OTO friends, or an idiot.
  6:44pm Night Al:

Told my Granny I was going to be on BOZO. When it aired, the cameraman panned by me right when I was picking my nose. First memory of ever being on TV. I was really digging one out too.
  6:44pm YETI BOB:

wow it takes some real imagination to come up with stuff like Flambulaz!
  6:44pm kat330:

Heh, Al! Raw reality tv!
Avatar 6:45pm Clay:

Going nasal on us. Jeez.
  6:45pm Flambulaz:

No imagination at all: Just google "kevin underwood" to find out what the satanist dirtbags who run "subgenius" are into. Everything I've said can be easily verified on google.
  6:45pm kat330:

I like this a lot! Missed who it is? Clay?
  6:46pm Marmalade Kitty:

Hi Clay! Any sign of protest on the streets in the parks?
  6:46pm chris:

Hey, Clay, hey sane people. Logged on to say, "way to go with the show, Clay." Just amazing. Playlist commentators are diverse, so way to go with that, too! Keep on rockin' in the free world, Clay.
Avatar 6:46pm Clay:

Jerry Williams, Kat.
  6:46pm other david:

@kat: Ditto! I'm fascinated by SETI and have pledged a few bucks to them and use SETI live... the discovery of life on another world would have rather... rather gigantic repercussions
Avatar 6:47pm Clay:

Hi Marmalade. I keep my ear to the ground. More to come.
  6:47pm Hermann Goering:

We can have Kenzo perform an IP-ectomy if necessary...
  6:47pm Flambulaz:

The so-called "occupy wall street" movement is the most pathetic, George-Soros-sponosred JOKE that has ever occurred in the history of "activism". George Soros is one of the most odious Wall Street shysters EVER, and he's financing your little protest because he finds it amusing to see a bunch of idiots blowing off steam by clapping hands, singing songs, marching around, and other things that preschool children do.
  6:48pm kat330:

Yeah, OD, trying fashioning a pizza box to the stars! :)
Thanks, Clay -- really did enjoy that musical snippet.
  6:48pm Night Al:

Stephen Hawkings thinks any aliens that would visit here would be akin to Columbus landing in the Americas. Ask the natives how that turned out for them.
  6:48pm other david:

My first thought when I heard Zuccotti Park had been retaken was "I cant wait to hear Clay's show on this..."
  6:48pm Flambulaz:

It is a testament to the quality of Clay's show that he attracts people from all different viewpoints/philosophies. That shows that it's not such a boring cliche like most leftist crap.
  6:49pm Philo Gristle:

Yup, we did do SETI live at some point too.... I'm all for using computer power for something along those lines.
Avatar 6:49pm Clay:

Occupy taught people how to protest again. Dig it!
  6:51pm Booji Boy:

  6:51pm other david:

Philo - there's SETI@Home and SETI live - with SETI live you just log on to a website and look for signals on an RF waterfall, it's pretty neat because you get to see real signals
  6:51pm Philo Gristle:

And as for ET, expect it'd be something not ahead or behind 'us,' but lateral and obscure, like the whales.
  6:51pm Flambulaz:

I think Stephen Hawking is an over-hyped egomaniacal and delusional fraud who has made no significant contribution to human knowledge of any kind. The only thing he actually came up with was the imaginary and speculative notion of "hawking radiation". but since there is no such thing as "black holes", his "discovery" of this non-existent "hawking radiation" will soon be at the bottom of the dumpster of wrong and forgotten quasi-scientific nonsense.
  6:52pm Night Al:

I wish ALL the occupiers could get behind one honest, liberal person to run for president. Kucinich announced he's not running again. Too bad, I really liked his entire issues stance.
  6:52pm Philo Gristle:

@OD -- oh, SETI@home is what we used to do. Been a while. I'll check out SETI live, thanks!
  6:52pm Flambulaz:

This guitarist kid is telling like it is: "occupy" is a George-soros-funded FRAUD, that was DESIGNED TO FAIL.
  6:53pm kat330:

Personally, flambulaz, my take on you is someone very lonely who is doing his/her level best to provoke and elicit responses from the others here. No such thing as "bad attention" in your book. But that's sad to me.
  6:55pm Flambulaz:

Clay, what are the origins of the name of your show - "The Dusty Show"?
  6:55pm Night Al:

Flambulaz has a right to their opinion. Just like I have a right to ignore them.
  6:55pm Watts360:

it must be really convenient that glenn beck's show tv ends at 6 and clay's show starts at 6
Avatar 6:55pm Clay:

I'm going to have to sign off. Thanks for listening. If this show gets cut-off too soon, the archived version will be complete. Always remember!
  6:55pm other david:

As ever - thank you for doing this Clay, great show.
  6:56pm kata:

Joanna Newsom of the 70s ?
  6:56pm kat330:

Unusual little voice Kay has.

Clay, thanks for another hour of interest and entertainment! Later good folk!
  6:56pm chris:

Thanks, Clay!
  6:56pm Philo Gristle:

Thanks for all the hard work, Clay! Your efforts are much appreciated.
  6:57pm Flambulaz:

Ha, I never would watch that freemason satanist Glenn Beck, or the satanist Fox News that broadcasts "conservative" crap on one channel, while broadcasting kiddie porn on its other channel (FX channel). No, I would never buy into satanist bullshit like that. It's time for you all to get past the idiotic hegelian dialectic control mechanism of "liberal vs. conservative", or "left vs. right". Stop being so gullible and easily led.
  6:57pm Fredericks:

Sorry, to inform you Flambulaz but the world is not that organized. Mostly a bunch of confused individuals-like yourself- searching for some meaningful patterns to cling to.
  6:57pm dale:

clay, you gotta go to the roxbury old time baseball game this summer. 1880's style.
  6:57pm Watts360:

the delayed dusty held up well for the extra week!!
Avatar 6:58pm Bhurd:

  6:58pm Flambulaz:

Sorry Frederick,s but the strawman argument you are trying to attribute to me simply won't work anymore. It's an old trick, and most people are on to it.
  6:58pm YETI BOB:

Flambulaz, you believe all this random conspiracy crap you read on the internet, and you're gonna call other people gullible?
  6:58pm Flambulaz:

Clay, send a shout-out to Pine Hill!
  6:59pm Fredericks:

Yeah, here for you Clayton. Email me!
  6:59pm Flambulaz:

Clay, I welcome you to visit Pine Hill, NY next time you're here. It's full of people like me.
  6:59pm Flambulaz:
