You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 9:23pm Dan B:

Happy Memorial Day, absent commentors! (or is commenters, or perhaps commentators?)
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:24pm bethany:

Nice segue - time well spent sprinting into the library for that track! My favorite National Anthem to boot!!
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:26pm G:

I'll be brave :-) Just haven't had anything occur to me worth mentioning yet! :-)
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:29pm bethany:

Another bitchn' segue...ha(!) I'm on a roll after the name calling on my show.

Mon. 5/28/12 9:36pm Richard from Venezuela:

Good evening Dan and all the listeners
Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 9:38pm Dan B:

Hey Richard, hello! I just discovered prepackaged arepas in my local grocery store -- do you have any idea what the best way is to heat them up? I'm going to buy some masarepa and make my own later, but for now I'm not really sure if there's a quicker way that just sticking them in a hot frying pan one at a time?
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:41pm Davice:

Dan, your music is so diverse I cannot understand how anyone could be racist.
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:41pm Microphone:

Flew in from Miami Beach, B O A C
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:46pm Coffee Cola:

Dan, we are here! Still listening; just prepping food for the BBQ! Also OED says commenters/commentors, I guess both work? commentator seems a bit more formal, like a critic i guess? Beats me...

Also, what about Hail to the Thief?
Mon. 5/28/12 9:48pm Richard from Venezuela:

fried arepa: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xdiUcPuZ7-A#t=99s

roasted arepa (without vegetable oil): http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=xcbjUZoFESU#t=166s

Arepa rocks.
Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 9:49pm Dan B:

@Davice, ah, if only it were that easy!!
Mon. 5/28/12 9:52pm Richard from Venezuela:

@Dan B: Grilled arepa is great too http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=wtpXuA83wu0#t=192s . Maybe heat each side for 3 minutes.
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:54pm hilo:

love how a modern effect drenched guitar can sound like an old bagpipe or harmonium!
Mon. 5/28/12 9:54pm Richard from Venezuela:

@Dan B: Another video example of roasted arepa http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=YGxCbb2qf3w#t=270s . Sorry for the spam. I eat arepa every day :)
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:54pm Destroit:

Hello Mr. Bodah, rich, CC, and everyone. I just walked into Destroy the Nations, still getting my bearings :) .
  Mon. 5/28/12 9:54pm Coffee Cola:

@Richard, in addition to the wonderful arepa, I have a strong conviction that Venezuelans make the best empanada out of any of the latin amer. countries.
Mon. 5/28/12 9:57pm Richard from Venezuela:

You're right Coffee Cola. Venezuelan empanadas are the best http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lcudokYtK44
Mon. 5/28/12 9:57pm Richard from Venezuela:

Greetings Destroit.
  Mon. 5/28/12 10:01pm Destroit:

Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 10:06pm Dan B:

Who wants to brings some arepas or empanadas to the station for me? :-) @hilo, Parts & Labor got that bagpipe-like sound from Dan Friel running a cheaparino old yamaha keyboard through effects. Amazing stuff.
  Mon. 5/28/12 10:09pm Coffee Cola:

@Destroit, Edge City, California.
  Mon. 5/28/12 10:16pm ang:

  Mon. 5/28/12 10:31pm hilo:

Language via Fela is different. No offense, it just has a world its own
Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 10:35pm Dan B:

@hilo, Fela intentionally spoke in English pidgin because it was the most broadly understood language across Nigeria and the rest of Africa, and he wanted to unite all of Africa into one nation
  Mon. 5/28/12 10:37pm ang:

Davice and Dan B's response...kinda brought tears to my eyes, really.
Now the set opening with Fela's, Zombie...how great is the show tonight!!
Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 10:41pm Dan B:

Every time I play this song I feel like I'm ripping off Donna B's old show Gateway to Joy - first heard it there and it's been one of my all-time faves ever since.
Mon. 5/28/12 10:42pm Tom - In Gravesend Brooklyn:

Thanks, Dan. I think Celestine Ukwu is a neglected giant from that era, but hearing any hearing any African pop from that era is a treat.
Avatar Mon. 5/28/12 10:57pm Dan B:

Thanks for the tip @hilo, never heard of Ukwu, will have to check his music out.
  Mon. 5/28/12 11:15pm L.:

Fantastic to hear the lush sounds of Pharoah Sanders followed by Psychic TV the very minute I tuned in to your show- from your playlist I can see that this is a quality show! I'll definitely listen again, even though it's 5 in the morning here- thanks for making my chronic insomniac a little more fun! :D Liv from norway
  Mon. 5/28/12 11:23pm hilo:

Barrett was a reminder that over-proccessed was over-bad. Syd touched many gentle souls.
