A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Loretta Lynn carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

There's also that Rock em Sock em Robots movie from a year or two ago. Maybe my standards are too high. Good morning everyone. Off to work.

Well thanks, i hope the new guy will do interesting stuff.
He seems like a honest person, but we'll see. In politics i've realise that skepticism, is a good way to look at things.
It can't be worst than the last one anyway.
  Tue. 5/8/12 9:46am triish:

Good morning. Sad to lose Sendak. Here's a quote I love from him in 2parts:

“Once a little boy sent me a charming card with a little drawing on it. I loved it. I answer all my children’s letters — sometimes very hastily — but this one I lingered over. I sent him a card and I drew a picture of a Wild Thing on it.
  Tue. 5/8/12 9:47am triish:

..I wrote, “Dear Jim: I loved your card.” Then I got a letter back from his mother and she said, “Jim loved your card so much he ate it.” That to me was one of the highest compliments I’ve ever received. He didn’t care that it was an original Maurice Sendak drawing or anything. He saw it, he loved it, he ate it.”

- Maurice Sendak
  Tue. 5/8/12 9:49am Cecile:

I love the guardians and their fierce, fat little dog. HAHAHAHAHA.

  Tue. 5/8/12 9:55am Jennique:

I didn't know Maurice Sendak was gone till I read it here. He was the speaker at my RISD commencement and gave a wonderful talk about making art for all the right reasons, to fight the good fight and to really say something with your work. I am still reeling over MCA being gone. I need to go lay down.

miniature elephant dog, you look fierce, but I bet assassins are always breaking into the places you are guarding because they are tricking you with sweet rice cakes and little dumplings.
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:17am Marmalade kitty:

@med, have you met the giant dog elephant yet?
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/12 10:18am trouble:

hey patrick, yes we hit the vna this weekend past. icepack made a killing on books and lego, me not so much, but it was fun. coffee shakes afterward at the pharmacy soda fountain. we almost hit duke farm, but no time. it has been open all along, we have been several times since the green houses closed, all great
Tue. 5/8/12 10:18am minature elephant dog:

@MK That's your first wish? You only have 2 left now.
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:19am Jennique:

Cecile, owning a mini elephant dog myself, I can tell you size is no issue. She's quite a demon in her own right and can only be placated by boiled chicken with peas or banana pudding.

just let the nice man slip into the vault over there, and you can have the whole steamer full of these dumplings!
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:22am Cecile:

I'll just leave them right here...I gotta go get some coffee.
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:22am Patrick:

ahhh i remember that pharmacy, glad to know it still exists. glad dj icepack scored with some legos, perhaps some day ill make it to another nurses sale.
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:23am Jennique:

Cap'n Trouble, you are quite accommodating! Yes I do require a chaise lounge for my "fits" as it were. Can you swing by the Little Red Lighthouse on your way down to Jersey City?

One of the things I like to do, Trouble, to overcome withdrawals from enthralling novels, is to play a video game. I don't know what the policy in your home may be vis a vis dj Icepack. Over here, dj Kungfuflashkid is going on 7 and, having mastered Monkey Quest, he is delving into some massively multiplayer National Geographic playland.

i been listening for the past 3,4 minutes but as i need to do some work, i'm going to the archives of PROF. DUM DUM. excuse me, DJ TROUBLE. take care.
Avatar Swag For Life Member Tue. 5/8/12 10:47am trouble:

capo strano, i HATE good book withdrawal. i feel all lost and of no purpose. am not a huge video game fan, just doesn"t thrill me, but perhaps a national geographic video game might... am plunging into a new book tonite, ghosts of the past fiction be damned
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:50am Capo Strano:

I try and leave layers of book overlap so as to avoid withdrawal, and consequently fall way behind in my gameplay, but I find they do make all kinds of good games these days. They are almost as good as Pong.
  Tue. 5/8/12 10:52am northguineahills:

Really enjoying this mix, Trouble.

For books, it's most generally in a Balzac-to-Borges-to-Letham vein and, for games, I recommend anything designed by Tim Schafer, Will Wright, or Jonathan Blow. For music, I find DJ Trouble puts together everything I enjoy into a transcendent blend.

I'm amazed at how detailed or large ceramics survived through centuries. Looking recently at big Mayan funerary urns with plenty of surface features/figures/ornament recently, I wanted more info posted on exactly how they were found/retrieved and why they weren't more damaged or just fragments.
