"Give the drummer some" origin!! Clyde Stubblefield!

James is the hardest working boogaloo-er in show business.

@Fiveash: Do you have the Flying Lizards version of "Sex Machine"? It's hysterically funny!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:13pm
Fiveash:

MFS: Sure don't. Will investigate even though I don't like hilarity.
  2:18pm
Matt from Springfield:

It's in the same spirit as their more famous version of "Money" :)
  2:19pm
seang:

ain't nothing wrong with this
  2:20pm
Ted:

Excellent choice, even though that guy is marked for death.
  2:21pm
Matt from Springfield:

Agree w/ the others, "Pool Hall Richard" is legendary. One of The Faces' best songs!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:22pm
Fiveash:

We'll get him one of these days, Ted.
  2:30pm
Matt from Springfield:

An old R&B singer with the first name Otis is virtually guaranteed to be good.
  2:38pm
Matt from Springfield:

I like Neil Young's direction (or rather, many directions) much more than Rick's. Though it's interesting to think if the Mynah Birds had stayed together--Neil might have retained Crazy Horse as a side project, but he probably would have stayed in a harder rock/soul direction in general. He may not have released his country-ish material in that case.
  2:40pm
Matt from Springfield:

While Rick James was frequently down on his luck, there is of course a great side to his music as well. The Mynah Birds split up allowed for solo Rick, Buffalo Springfield and Steppenwolf as we know them to form.

One thing we can all agree on: there would have been a lot of cocaine.
  2:41pm
earwax:

I like Neil better in general, but out of the two songs you play I definitely prefer Rick's.
  2:42pm
Matt from Springfield:

Already hazardous levels of coke would only have increased exponentially.

Ohio Players!!

Holly in NC:

Well heck - looks like I'm late to a fine, fine party!
Yay Syl.
  2:49pm
Matt from Springfield:

I first heard "I'm Blue" as a fragment in the Hairspray movie--liked it and wondered for years just what it was. Later I found it was a young Tina Turner and Ikettes!
  2:50pm
Matt from Springfield:

Hi Holly!
Fortunately a recording will be made of this party for you to listen. But still, everything's more fun to catch live!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 2:53pm
Fiveash:

Hi Holly, nice of you to join us!
