Listener comments!

  9:04am Roberto:

Woo hoo unemployed after 8 years at the same crap job! What better way to start my new life than with Ken and the Burp Concerto?
  9:05am Caryn:

Morning, all!
  9:06am Tom:

Is that an audio tape of Gov. Chris Christie?
  9:06am Andrew Waterloo:

Good morning
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:07am Ken:

  9:07am still b/p:

In some cultures, this is complimentary radio and listeners are insulted if they don't hear it.
  9:07am JMD:

Oh dear! This is to laugh. Thanks, Ken.
  9:07am Roberto:

This is freaking awesome. Being unemployed rocks! Thanks Ken!
  9:08am ricardo montalban:

That 'Twisted Tales' series is wonderful, that track notwithstanding.
  9:09am northguineahills:

Unemployed myself (for the last 9 mos.) I have a much delayed interview today/tomorrow.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:09am Ken:

Come on people. You got burping or mout noise requests, now is the time to bring it. preferably with URLS or tell me the title of the artist and album.
  9:10am triish:

"It's a gas!"
  9:10am Caryn:

Is today's show going to be all about bodily functions?
  9:11am SteveL:

Rev. Horton Heat/The Entertainer/ on Liquor in the Front.
  9:11am Tom:

Yeah! Mad Magazine's "It's A Gas"!
  9:11am ted:

There's that part on the Mothers of Invention, We're Only in it for the Money. Sorry, I forget what song it comes before.
  9:11am caver_mike:

Hi Ken - I was listening the entire 3 hrs from 6 to 9 - and I like this song.
  9:12am glenn:

hell, half the bonzo's discography has some form of bodily noise.
  9:13am ricardo montalban:

Ken, do you have the album 'Fart Proudly'? Not sure what year it was. It's one of the many and sundry 'crepitation' type records. Just awful.
  9:13am TonguesTooShortToFelchWithGod:

The Bonzos Canyons of Your Mind comes to mind
  9:14am Caryn:

A month or two ago, some WFMU played a track from an album that was all about bodily noises. Seriously, that's all I remember about that. Apart from the DJ warning all listeners that they might feel sick soon...
  9:14am caver_mike:

"Constipation Blues" - Screamin' Jay Hawkins
  9:14am Brian In UK:

No burping but 'Cocktails for Two' by Spike Jones has some great mouth noises.
  9:15am ricardo montalban:

T Rex, Life's a Gas, but there's no proper farting in it
  9:16am still b/p:

Brian -- I just this minute was giving Cocktails for Two a pre-nomination check myself.
  9:17am Neg-guh-tor:

I'm beginning to belch. True.
  9:18am rifarto montalban:

There's always Robert Tilton, the Farting Pastor:
  9:18am irene:

While staying with my cousins one summer "It's a Gas" came with the latest Mad Magazine. My cousin Ken put it on and my Aunt Edith was so appalled that she actually washed his mouth out with soap.
  9:18am Lizardner Dave:

  9:18am Sam:

I love the echo. So trippy.
  9:19am ted:

OK Ken, I was about to send you the link! Good going!
  9:19am Viv Stanshall:

"The Strain"
*bleep at 2:41*
  9:19am Roberto:

A couple of years ago Kenny G played a solid hour of farts. Can we somehow tap into that?
  9:20am triish:

There's that women mashing grain track.. I don't recall the details.
  9:20am dc pat:

Jimi Hendrix's hairdresser is so cool. I think.
  9:21am Dave B:

The "Singing Asshole" from Bab's birthday party in Pink Flamingos comes to mind, but I can't find the clip.

  9:21am Sam:

Something about a guy with a british accent saying "Take 6" with an echo that just makes my mind drift away.
  9:22am dc pat:

@DaveB. It was set to a Link Wray tune, I know that.
  9:24am rifarto montalban:

Zappa reading Burroughs, The Talking Asshole:
  9:25am Caryn:

If we're accepting laughing tracks, the field opens up considerably...
  9:28am Caryn:

Yay! Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band!
  9:29am F,0F,0 (:

Hi Ken, everybody, listeners, commenters and of course WFMU staff that make this place rock!

Hey Rifarto, thanks for the awesome link!
  9:32am Kees:

Beck - Steve Threw Up
  9:32am F,0F,0 (:

good luck then! Perhaps you should take a sample of this show to your interview. Just in case they ask you about personal stuff , like what you listen to. I once said in an interview that I like Tonetta and I got the job and a promotion right away!! Well, actually I didn't. I got fired from the interview.
  9:33am Scott W:

Ron Geesin & Roger Waters "The Body", LP filed under G
  9:33am Vorsprung durch Technik:

morning, robots!
  9:34am BSI:

Classic Screamin' Jay... but this is the most mellow version I've ever heard. Some of 'em got insanely (wonderfully) violent.
  9:34am lane:

Zooropa... blah.
  9:34am groucho:

Weardale, England signing in. looks like this week's gonna be a funny one!

"King of Scurf" -
  9:36am lane:

ok nausea. i'll go with it. the only way out is through...
  9:38am Caryn:

Ken, if laughing tracks count, here's one the Eläkeläiset fans tend to love:
  9:38am loaded gun:

the nausea that dare not speak its name.
  9:39am Caryn:

Shortness of breath? You gonna play Berlin's "Take My Breath Away"?
  9:39am lane:

enjoy a panic attack without panicking... i wish i were listening to Trouble...
  9:39am triish:

the noxious fumes made me nauseous
  9:40am Internet user:

Did you play the puking song by the dead milkmen ken?
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:40am Ken:

Yeah, I cant keep up the bodily fluid theme no more im afraid.
  9:41am Cecile:

thank god, Ken.

Morning, all! Ken, I'm sorry you are feeling poorly.
  9:43am Brian In UK:

Charles Penrose 'The Laughing Policeman'
  9:44am F,0F,0 (:

I'm amazed we haven't played this

Lyme Disease Song (Under my Skin)

It's sounds like David Bowie with Lyme Disease in his mouth.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:44am Ken:

Heroin songs anybody? Heroin makes you nauseas and I was thinking about trying to start a heroin habit.
  9:46am Cecile:

How about something about vibrant health?
Timmy's Organism has a song called Silver Mountain about farming carrot and marijuana. I call it the Devendra Barnhart diet.
  9:46am Lou Reed:

Perfect Day -
  9:47am Cecile:

can't you get medical weed in Jersey yet? This would qualify...
I also got some super chemo drugs when I had terrible vertigo. Of course they gave me like 2 pills. :( but boy, did I not have nausea.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:47am Ken:

Cecile. Vibrant Health?! You should hear yourself sometimes.
  9:48am lane:

well... so much for this coping mechanism... bye.
  9:49am Skirkie:

Zicam on an empty stomach can make you plenty nauseous and is probably cheaper than heroin. Also, interesting colors result.
  9:49am F,0F,0 (:

aww, Ken. Don't be so gloomy. Better yet play those songs from Dr. William Janiak about eating healthy stuff like "Do you like foods (vegetable, fruit or meat songs)".
  9:49am Cecile:

I'm channeling my InStyle magazine. Just got the May issue.
  9:50am lane:

no wait, Trouble on ARCHIVE!... that's it!... God bless u FMU!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 9:51am Ken:

Bye Lane! Dont slam the door on your way out!
  9:51am Cecile:

Cameron Diaz is on the front cover. At no point do they discuss her OCD, inability to commit or germophobia. But she got to wear some pretty dresses and eat a salad with the interviewer..
  9:51am SteveL:

Vibrators/Stiff Little Fingers or Keep it Clean/ on Pure Mania.
  9:52am Cecile:

just play 60 minutes of the necks and take a nap, Ken.
  9:52am groucho:

please don't start taking heroin Ken, i like you and don't want you to be dead
  9:53am Allan:

Stranglers "Golden Brown"
  9:53am The Tubes:

"White Punks on Dope" -
9:55am Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers:

"Chinese Rocks" -
  9:56am Cecile:

how about the Kinks "Alcohol" or "Skin and Bone"? They are both from Muswell Hillbillies, making it convenient.
  9:57am ¶ symbol:

(as seen on beware of the blog)

i love this radio station. congratulations Ken!
  9:57am sweir:

Thank you for the TUBES link. Brought me back to high school for a moment... awesome!
  9:58am Caryn:

Hah, Swedish humour!
  9:59am Caryn:

And Meghan just had that drugs show, so plenty of song suggestions on that playlist.
  10:00am dc pat:

oh yeah, one of the greatest tunes ever penned. Thanks Thunders, Ramone, Hell...
  10:00am Cecile:

oh, congrats, Ken. You silver fox.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:01am Ken:

Thanks Symbol, thanks Cecile!
  10:02am Chickens in Heaven:

Where's the fox. Nothing much going on here.
  10:03am F,0F,0 (:

Wow, Ken, congrats! I read the article and am amazed about the fact that WFMU once was accesible via Gopher!!! Oh, nostalgia. :')

BTW, how is the NFCB the National Association of Community Broadcasters? Either they like screwing with people, or the article has an error and they should be a Federation or something...
  10:12am ¶ symbol:

It's the heroin
  10:12am JJJ:

this song like a slowed down gmail dial tone
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:13am Ken:

Caryn =yeah, it's a typo. Was that on the Radio Survivor blog?
  10:14am Dave B:

While walking to work, Mr. Bungle's "Carousel" came to mind with some good pukey sounds...

And a nice little article about LCD in SVA's "Ink" quarterly -
  10:14am Brian in UK:

I think we all know what this station owes to the Station Manager.
  10:15am tinaun:

i love this album
  10:15am glenn:

another laughing song.
  10:15am Caryn:

@Ken: it was on the current public media blog ¶ symbol gave the link to.
  10:20am Dave B:

If you play WPoD, make it the Leland Stanford University Marching Band version:
  10:21am groucho:

great, now I have to watch The Life Aquatic again. bollocks
  10:22am rifarto montalban:

Butthole Surfers, 'Clean It Up' from - I think - Independent Worm Saloon' has some icky vomitus sounds
  10:23am timotato:

Seu Jorge is the man.
  10:25am ANT:

@Dave B: Glad you liked the INK article about LCD! I'm actually one of the editors of the magazine!
  10:28am bbell:

the only thing keeping me going while weeding the garden is your show, Ken, thanks.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:29am Ken:

Good job on INK, Ant!
  10:29am fred:

Good morning/afternoon everybody!
@Caryn: I guessed Nat Roe would be the kind to play a track with bodily noises. Looks like it's Philip Gayle's Sleep Rain, aired on March 14.
  10:29am Dave B:

@ANT... nice work. I did a year of film studies at SVA back in 83/84, so I still have some sort of kindred connection
  10:31am Dave B:

and the Spoek Mathambo set un Underwater Theme Park the other week was outstanding...
  10:32am fred:

@Dave B: Agreed. Meghan should get more live sets, even though it messes with the themes
  10:33am gryphon:

Loved the Sakamoto track! checking him out now...thanks!
  10:35am Cecile:

SVA seems like a magical place.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:36am Ken:

Nailed that gif with the BPM Yo!
  10:36am Dave B:

@Fred - I'm looking forward to the Yellow Dogs session.

@Cecile - It was back then, and that was 1983~4 B.I.
(before internet)
  10:36am Cheri Pi:

Ken-if priapism is one of your symptoms you should play 18 hrs of love by K-X-P
  10:38am ANT:

Thanks for the love @Ken and @DaveB! Dave did you know any comics people during your time there? And @Cecile-- it's pretty cool!
  10:39am eirikur:

i like the way this last gif rocks to the beat!
  10:39am Braveness23:

The animated gif is dancing at the exact tempo of the Boom Bip ft. Money Mark song!
Avatar Swag For Life Member 10:41am Ken:

Yeah, that's why Im playing this song twice!
  10:41am Cecile:

Ah, if I win the Powerball, I'll buy my way into there.
Give 'em a wing or a dorm or something so I can hang out.
  10:41am Cheri Pi:

Ken-you win at gifs!
  10:42am ted:

Your mind is making the gif dance to the beat.
  10:43am fred:

Someone should write an app to sync Ken's gifs to any song's bpm. That would be a boon to humanity
  10:44am dc pat:

holy crap have you seen this Rammstein cover by kids?? Drummer is 5!!
  10:44am Dave B:

@ANT - that was many brain cells ago. One profs name, Roy Frumkes, sticks out...

@Cecile - The "dorms" back then was a floor in an old YMCA up on 34th and 9th... I think they've expanded considerably since my time..
  10:46am triish:

synco pation!
  10:47am Honey Badger Randall:

Soviet cheetah don't care. He don't give a shit.
  10:47am Cecile:

he might be a Soviet snow leopard.
  10:49am still b/p:

If someone will make anim gifs of these, you'll have more choices for tempo matching.
  10:49am Doug Z:

I didn't know Tonetta was with the Residents at one time.
  10:51am Caryn:

I just find it hysterical that the word beneath the snow leopard is "peace". Not what the imagery would make you think...
  10:51am meghan:

My SVA dorm moved a lot. I was in Gramercy Park, 23rd and Lex,
  10:52am Cecile:

No, it's more like "I am batshit crazy and going to kill you with the gun and knife of the people".
  10:53am Cecile:

"and if that doesn't work, I have like 900 rows of teeth."
  10:54am ¶ symbol:

and i've signed a copy of this print so you never forget.

peace out.
  11:03am Sam:

Jeepers. Did you call the cops??
  11:03am ANT:

@Dave B: I know Roy! Took a Film Noir class with him last year. Great guy.
@meghan: Hah. I spent my freshman year in that dorm.
  11:03am Sam:

Too many guns in Jersey City.
  11:03am jan:

Ken, glad that you said something after you saw something. We are all safer for your vigilance.
  11:03am Roberto:

Best part of unemployment -- I can listen to the FMU without headphones!
  11:04am F,0F,0 (:

Negativland - Guns
  11:04am Sam:

You should have gotten in your car and followed him!
  11:04am ted:

The guy was just standing his ground.
  11:05am Dave B:

@Ken - here's another gif for your consideration...
  11:05am meghan:

@ANT- the Gramercy was an all woman's dorm. I moved into the 23rd and Lex when they first opened it.
  11:05am Marie:

Hi Ken (and all youse) I reco. developing a destuctive drinking habit first to make developing the heroin habit easier.
Avatar Swag For Life Member 11:07am Ken:

Sam - I think he WAS a cop.
  11:08am Detroit Mac:

Sick as a dog with a sinus infection that has turned into the flu. Might not be able to take the wild sings of Ken's playlist for long. (Really wild fever dreams, tho!)
  11:08am Caryn:

Of course, the text above the snow leopard tells to "whack the bitch, rat informants", so fair enough. Yeah, sure, that'll lead to peace...
  11:08am ANT:

@meghan- haha. I was thinking of the George Washington.
  11:09am KevinfromBayRidge:

Ken, Sounds more like a hitman.
  11:09am Sam:

Omg, a cop with a gun?!! That's my biggest fear. I'm hoping I never see one.
  11:10am Sam:

Was he an Aprile? Or was he part of Uncle Junior's crew?
  11:11am meghan:

That's 23rd! It was partially cleared out of the old residents, but one guy came banging on my door yelling he was going to give me a yeast infection. I was laughing too hard to be worried. Who yells that?!
  11:11am meghan:

  11:12am Brice:

Wow Honeymoon Killers, Iv'e made this video on youtube for this cool song:
  11:12am asjon:

wow that Abwarts song was awesome
  11:12am Carmichael:

OK, hi Kenneth and various and sundry peoples.
  11:13am Michael:

To be fair, in the 1890s when that Heroin was OTC there were no Nazis as such, though there were certainly some proto-Nazis (Nietzsche's sister and her husband, who tried to create Aryan Paradise in Paraguay I think it was, come to mind).
  11:13am Caryn:

Seriously, meghan? A yeast infection? Come on, dude, watch a Scorcese or Tarantino movie or something to brush up on your threats...
  11:13am Marie:

I agree with asjon. This song too!
  11:14am Marie:

I agree with asjon. This song too!
  11:15am meghan:

Yep Caryn..... The joys of stupid people.
  11:16am Caryn:

Tupac is currently cursing the fact that from some angles, his hologram looks like Sisqo...
  11:16am weiterso:

fsk klasse!
  11:21am ANT:

Hahaha. Ooh boy. Yeah there are some pretty interesting folks around there. Had my fair share of encounters with eccentrics in the area but no one ever knocked on my door with aspirations of giving me a yeast infection.
  11:22am Caryn:

BTW, currently laughing my ass off about the 2012 Olympics' organizers trying to get Keith Moon to play at the closing ceremony... Granted, if they'd be able to pull that off, I'd watch.
  11:26am still b/p:

Make reanimation a competitive event and they get a two-fer, ratings-wise.
  11:27am Mark:

oh meghan, that was you?
  11:28am Ricardo Montalban:

For my money, this is the best Ivor album there is.
  11:28am Caryn:

Of course, online commenters have pointed out that if you can't reach Moon, John Bonham should be approached. Via ouija board, presumably. Or that if you want to get the original Who line-up together, why not go all-out and try for a Beatles reunion. Being relatively spiritual, Lennon and Harrison might be easier to reach...
  11:28am Carmichael:

Got a bagel in my hand. How bout dat, Ivor Baby??
  11:29am Ricardo Montalban:

Yeasty Girls. Have any of that, Ken?
  11:31am Aaron in Jcity:

Attila Lives
  11:31am Caryn:

Oh, Buster Bloodvessel, you...
  11:34am Carmichael:

Please give away knives this evening.
  11:37am Caryn:

BTW, Gila & Gunshots is from 1973's "Jeunes filles impudiques".
  11:37am Caryn:

Watch out, girl! That evil clown is planning to give you a yeast infection!
  11:38am Caryn:

Aargh, Gilda, not Gila!
  11:39am Marie:

@Caryn--ha ha
@Cecile--I was @ the Y at 9th and 34th 4 a weekend in '87--not what I expected from a Y based on those I knew in suburban Chicago--They had a 24-hr lock changer because rooms were broken into so much. It was basically an SRO. It worked for me. I had come to town to check out living quarters for my upcoming move to NYC. (Rents were still kind of reasonable then!)

BTW, thank you Kenneth for the Nazi gif. He's one of my favorites.

From Baltimore, the home of the original talking board

  11:46am Carmichael:

I'd like to hear him attempt to pronounce "transubstantiation".
  11:48am bout in the garden:

"With that, one of Jesus' companions, named Michael of Tyson, approached the high priest's servant, and bit off his ear."
  11:48am paul:

  11:49am paul:

or Kure Kure Tacora, maybe
  11:51am Ricardo Montalban:

Years ago, we used to torment office-mates with that Kura Kura Takora fan page that had the looping theme song by putting as many computers on it as possible with the sound turned up.
I wonder if that page still exists?
  11:53am Mark:

it is your assignment to find out Ricardo
  11:54am Ricardo Montalban:

Oh, god! It does! Haven't seen (or heard) this since the early aughties:
Be warned, the audio is really annoying.
  11:56am MD:

These volunteer odes have been cracking me up. "Ooooooh, Kevin."
  11:56am Octopus:

Gimme Gimme Octopus
Up from the ocean
I got hot and sunburned
Why must I live at the top of the tree
Viewing all my desires through a telescope... I want the stars!
Gimme Gimme Octopus
  11:57am Dave B:

Thanks Ricardo - now I want to have Takoyaki for lunch....
  11:58am ANT:

Ricardo-- That loop is truly terrific. I solemnly swear to abuse it.
  12:00pm Caryn:

I think we've found the background music for Keili's next "Japanese Game Show" show. Nice work, Ricardo!
  12:02pm Marie:

@Dave B--it was probably the wildest of the Ys! (wait, I take that back...)
