You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 9:31pm Dan B:

Hello all! Just catching up with playlist now. Monica, glad you dug the Brass Const., I love those guys! I thought that preacher worked well with them too. Van, are the cherry blossoms already done in DC?
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:33pm Diane Sewaire:

This show provides the req'd religious paperwork, no? Yes. Maybe.
Mon. 4/9/12 9:33pm Van in DC:

Dan, the Cherry Blossoms were beautiful while they lasted. Also, the Magnolias, in full bloom for the few days they lasted, were awesome. Beauty reigns in the DC area about now. Those with allergies curse the fact. :)
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:34pm Destroit:

Hello everybody. Enjoying the start of the show.
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:36pm Mike East:

Has anyone seen the Genesis P Orridge documentary yet?
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:36pm monica:

the preacher on top was awesome. dan! greetings to all fellow bodah-lites.
Mon. 4/9/12 9:39pm Van in DC:

"Sir? The override. It's been overridden."

That's where WFMU comes in. :)
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 9:41pm Dan B:

@Mike, I have not -- if it's still playing, I think I'll go tomorrow night.
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:43pm hairway:

i am transported...
Mon. 4/9/12 9:43pm Van in DC:

Tomorrow night...I am going to see Bombino at DC9 here..where I believe Mike East said he played before? I can't wait, should be a GREAT show!!
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:46pm Kat:

  Mon. 4/9/12 9:49pm Mike East:

@Dan B. - Very cool. I'm really interested in seeing it myself, but its not in wide release, so my options are limited. May have to wait for DVD.
@Van - I seriously contemplated getting tix for the Highline Ballroom show, but decided on a comedy show this weekend instead. I think that venue will be cool for him. The stage is only about a foot high from what I remember, so there's not too much divide between audience and performer. Let me know how it is!
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:51pm hairway:

we played with Egg, Eggs at the basement in noho. but i didn't stick around.
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:51pm Tom L:

Hi Dan!
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:51pm Tom L:

Hi Dan!
Mon. 4/9/12 9:53pm Richard from Venezuela:

Good evening Dan and all the listeners.
Mon. 4/9/12 9:53pm Van in DC:

Mike East, I surely will. From what I saw of the place online and from what you said, yes indeed, should be up close and personal intimate. Sounds great to me. :)
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 9:55pm Dan B:

Hi Tom L & Richard & Hairway P!
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:56pm hairway:

good evening, Richard from Venezuela
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:56pm hairway:

good evening, mr djbodah
  Mon. 4/9/12 9:57pm Tom Miller:

Angel's Egg, a.k.a. Part 2 of Gong's Radio Gnome Trilogy!
Mon. 4/9/12 9:57pm rick in philly:

The guy was rude on Mac's show and some harsh words were spoken. It's good he apologisied. I think he was a good geust but I doubt if Mac will have him back.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 10:00pm Dan B:

@Rick, came out of left field for me, but I guess it's good he apologized. He was very unclear about what his role in the whole fiasco was, and I hadn't heard about it, so it was weird.
Mon. 4/9/12 10:02pm Van in DC:

Late Easter present:

  Mon. 4/9/12 10:08pm SD:

Wow. The animals doing coloured rain. i had no idea. nice.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:09pm dave:

that bassett/lubelski thing was fantastic
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:10pm Tom Miller:

Dan, did you get the mash up from Berlin I sent you?
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 10:12pm Dan B:

@Tom, yep, havent had a chance to listen yet. @dave, idn't that awesome? @SD, at the risk of revealing my total naivety, who originally did Colored Rain?
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:14pm 12539:

Traffic's original "Coloured Rain" was with a "u," I believe. Did the Animals drop the "u?"
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:19pm Ike:

Newark has more cherry blossoms than D.C. and a few of them are still in bloom, too.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 10:20pm Dan B:

@12539, yep dropped the "u" to go with the American spelling. @Tom L -- something new from Hallock Hill cued up.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:20pm kram:

Hey Dan, thanks for spinning the Egg, Eggs way back at the top. That still has me tripping. Have to pick that up.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:20pm dave:

i wonder if sparks have ever done anything that makes the listener go, "woah, THIS is sparks?!"
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:21pm dave:

also: yay, sparks!
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:24pm Diane Sewaire:

Ah, the religious stamps. Kachunk Kachunk. Good to go.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:25pm Diane Sewaire:

I'm not an atheist. See?
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 10:26pm Dan B:

@kram, yeah, check out the Feeding Tube website to order, if I'm not mistaken. Try to avoid the Terry Schiavo links when you google it. @Diane, we aim to serve all needs--financial, emotional, spiritual, and related to bunions on this program!
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:29pm SD:

Yep. It was traffic from Mr. Fantasy. the first CD i ever bought (needless trivia)
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 10:29pm Dan B:

Damn, I am just not seeing a reasonable way to break this set before the top of the hour. Does anyone really mind? I think there's at least 30 mins more music cued up that fits together perfectly right now.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:29pm Thierry:

Hi Dan. Just tuning in for two subtle tracks in a row!
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:33pm dave:

i'm trying to imagine what would make somebody object to you continuing in this vein for pretty much as long as you can keep it up.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:34pm Scuttle:

Makes sense Jarmusch would make music like this- similar feel to Limits of Control
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:34pm 12539:

Dan@10:29: I'll have you know I donated good money to this station so you can do whatever you want.
  Mon. 4/9/12 10:37pm Tom Miller:

Wow, Wondrous Love is one of my favorite Sacred Harp shape-note hymns but Melanie sings it in a Brand New Key.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 10:39pm Dan B:

She arranged and adapted that one. Also one of my absolute faves of the Sacred Harp songbook.
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:04pm Scuttle:

Was she in GHQ with Steve Gunn?
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 11:08pm Dan B:

Yeah, Scuttle, Marcia was in GHQ with Pete Nolan of Magik Markers and Steve Gunn.
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:16pm Tom Miller:

Ah, there's Shri Camel - one of my all-time desert island discs. All played live solo on Yamaha organs in quarter-tone tuning btw.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 11:20pm Dan B:

@Tom, yes, definitely a desert-island disc, especially because it makes time fall apart. I just got a copy -- was surprised to find it was released on CBS and so it sells for under $10 new as a "Super Saver" CD -- remember those?!
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:24pm Tom Miller:

The ones with the red dot stickers in the miscellaneous bin.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 11:26pm Dan B:

A big red sticker with a yellow outline and the words "SUPER SAVER!" in yellow block letters!!!
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:30pm Andrew Waterloo:

major labels certainly run the gambit of availability. From not available at all, to outrageously priced, and then super saver in the misc bin.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 11:32pm Dan B:

Those major labels are so funny with their fuddy-duddy ways! I just want to pinch them on the cheek and tell them how CUTE they are!!
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:38pm Andrew Waterloo:

I haven't dug through a discount bin in so long now
Actually, haven't been in a store that has one in awhile
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:39pm Tom Miller:

Can you play the 1940 Census through the text-to-speech bot?
Mon. 4/9/12 11:40pm rick in philly:

Sparks are too funny! I used to have their record "INDISCREET' with them in suburbia after a dreadful but non life-threatening plane crash.
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:43pm R I S K Y:

Amazing Dan!!!!!
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:43pm G:

@Tom Miller: There's no name index yet for any but a few states; 1940 was released a week ago today. To find anyone you need to know what street s/he was on and the nearest cross street. That info lets you find which enumeration district to look through. Most ED's are 20 to 50 pages, 40 names or so a page...
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:47pm A:

I feel like I'm inside the car, going through the automatic wash!
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:48pm G:

I feel like a 33-1/3 record ended and no one picked up the tone arm
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:48pm DJTinNJ:

This is not my favorite track
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:49pm G:

OK, a 78 !
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:49pm R I S K Y:

Goodnight Dan, great show, as fuckin always.
  Mon. 4/9/12 11:54pm 12539:

Thanks, Dan.
Avatar Mon. 4/9/12 11:55pm Dan B:

Thanks all -- enjoy the electronic insects and see you next week!
