Street interviews, listener call-ins, vinyl gluttery, sporadic normalcy, original floperas and fiktion, blatant talking over songs, politix, tenderness, and a vague undercurrent of angst. Right up your alley!

Options February 2, 2012: Lost Miami Interview - Live With Fabio

Listen to this show: Pop-up listen Pop‑up player!

Artist Track Album Label Year Format Comments Approx. start time
I was unable to attend any Occupy Wall Street events this week as I was traveling. Arriving home on a Wednesday evening, I had only a very short time to prepare this episode.

It occurred to me that there was an interview I had done in Florida in the summer of 2011 that I had never aired. Thinking it worthwhile, I set about incorporating music and bytes to gussy the thing up and get it ready for Dusty.

The Florida segment being only twenty-minutes in length, I was lucky to have Fabio nearby so that we could visit on the air, take calls and entertain for the last forty-minutes of the program.

I hope you enjoy this episode of The Dusty Show. I am presently preparing Clay's Classics 4, culling together this years most essential Dusty Show tracks for my WFMU Marathon Premium. Just 2-Weeks Away!

In addition to the Clay's Classics 4 CD, I'll be including an exciting bonus disc. More on that later.

Again, no Occupy coverage this week, but don't think I'm not still interested and engaged in the movement. I am.

Thanks for listening to this episode of The Dusty Show. I definitely wasn't on my A game. Hadn't gone 'live' like that for a while.

Marathon is just a couple of weeks away and I hope you'll show your support when the time comes to keep FMU on the air. Much to do between now and them. Keep listening. Take care, my friends, and always remember.

Floridian episode, interesting. Any of your old friends featured in this episode?

He says everybody was "as one" in the 60s and 70s? His memory is surely distorted by overly fond nostalgia. Or he was high the entire time.

No Matt. I was in Miami last summer. I attempted to air some of it in one of the Digi-Fails.

  6:41pm Adam in Portland:

@Matt, knocked it outta the park.
  6:41pm Matt from Springfield:

@Dave: Personally I think "troll metal" like Finnish band Finntroll is more "power leprechaun", maybe hard Celtic music like Flogging Molly.
(Caryn, where are ya tonight!)
  6:42pm Adam in Portland:

That last caller's voice has me thinking fondly of Killing of a Chinese Bookie.
  6:42pm Listener Dave from Seattle:

That's true, Yes isn't really trolly.
  6:42pm Matt from Springfield:

@Adam: Thanks! Now if only I could absorb FMU while sleeping, I could remember the craziest mix of overnight shows!
  6:43pm Caryn:

@Matt: I'm here, trawling through my record collection while listening.

LOL at Fabio's LOL!
Loosen up Fab, you're among radio friends here!
  6:44pm kata:

I LOVE 'My Left Foot' !
  6:44pm Matt from Springfield:

Hello Caryn!
Do Finns listen to the band Finntroll, or is that just an export to esoteric American metalheads? :)
  6:46pm Adam in Portland:

I wonder if Fabio would like Drexciya?
  6:46pm kata:

yes, plugging your podcast is horrible !
  6:47pm Matt from Springfield:

Awesome! A Dusty Simul-Hurl™!!
  6:47pm Caryn:

@Matt: yep, we listen to them. They've even been in the top 20 a couple of times. Keep having bad luck with their band members, though. Still, things have been peaceful for a couple of years, so maybe the problems are behind them.
  6:47pm glenn:

what's next? theme from a summer place?
  6:48pm glenn:

caryn!! call clay.
  6:49pm Adam in Portland:

Theme from Class of 1984. ;-)
  6:49pm Caryn:

Basically, if it's heavy metal, there are Finns listening to it. From babies to grandparents.
@glenn: why?
  6:49pm kata:

Matt of Springfield -- I thought you had a phone date set up with Clay and the air a while back ? wha happuh ?
  6:50pm kata:

yes, the Dilly Bar is excellent.
  6:51pm Listener Dave from Seattle:

Last time I had McDonalds was 1990.
  6:51pm Caryn:

Man, I think I last had McDonalds in 2005...
  6:51pm Matt from Springfield:

@kata: Two weeks ago I said I was available that next week--but he never said anything or emailed me. Also working this week.
  6:52pm glenn:

  6:52pm Adam in Portland:

  6:52pm Matt from Springfield:

And yes, DQ ice cream bars. Buster. Dilly.

Ha ha, kid said "douche"!
  6:52pm kata:

I think, if you're gonna call, you gotta be willing to sing.
  6:53pm nick:

pretty funny...yes...funny is good
  6:53pm glenn:

the original gene simmons is way better.
  6:53pm Hacksaw:

The occupy shows give the listener the same sonic experience as listening to a TV preacher. Lots of shouting and people wanting a higher power to make things better.
  6:53pm Caryn:

Well, the phone bill from Finland to the US would be high, that's why not. Wouldn't mind calling in if I lived somewhere closer by.
  6:54pm Adam in Portland:

I find the Occupy shows highly compelling.
  6:54pm nick:

prettyn funny...yes...funny is good.
  6:55pm david:

The OWS shows will withstand the test of time, as well...

LOVE the obtuse and way out there songs each week (even the tehcno music) ... I always take a hour a week to listen to your show. Keep up the great work. You are an awesome person!!

Take care.
