Mohd Rafi was a playback singer primarily in Hindi and Urdu. Ilaiyaraaja was primarily a Tamil film composer.

  8:13pm
sugarwolf:

I got snowed out of the record fair, sob.

I got to spend that money on books later in the week tho. And I hung out with someone I would have hung out with on Sunday, so it's ok.
  8:13pm
Eliza:

What was the name of the bumper song?
  8:15pm
Parq:

Record Fair! I'm not a voracious buyer anymore at the fair; I mostly go for the show. Blown away by the Black Hollies, charmed by People Like Us; Magical Misery Tour, really enjoyed my introduction to Al Jarnow.
  8:15pm
Parq:

But I did get a few things, mostly at the FMU tables, including an old mainstream classic I've been thinking about getting for a long time, a new major-label release from a group with the same name as the building I live in, and a great R&B classic that was in the $3 pile because of a destroyed jewel box, which I easily replaced once home.
  8:21pm
Don (trip dub):

Friday nite got a full-length LP of the Chakachas on polydor for $20. Bought the single (Jungle Fever) some years back for $45. Couldn't scavange tix for the sold-out norton show though. Saw 'Fine Wine' at the end of his show getting his tux ready to spin at a wedding. Is this the infamous Beach Boys 'Smile' unfinished? Thanks for playin'.
  8:22pm
sugarwolf:

Parq, I bought the AL Jarnow DVD last year. I saw all those short films on TV when I was little. It made me soo happy to watch them again.
  8:25pm
Irwin:

Beautiful. Thank you, dear Mo.
  8:27pm
monica:

thanks for the heads up, doug s.!...trssh, mmmmm..... ted leonard, youy dirty dog, you!... eliza, it was "san antonio rose" by floyd cramer (like ted said)... sugarwolf - sorry i missed ya, lady...parq - i saw you werkin' it!... Do, sounds like you made out swelll... mon plaisir, Irwin.

  8:46pm
Parq:

Sugar, I expect I saw a few of Al J's films when my own daughter was little, but I was seeing everything pretty much for the first time last weekend. I confess I had a little attention-span trouble during the featurette-length Celestial Navegations, but was entranced by the biographical feature.
  8:47pm
Marmalade Kitty:

  8:49pm
JS:

Dig the Fats Waller. Good for Nothin' but Love, indeed! (My favorite record fair find is a sound effects record titled Auscultations of the Heart.) Thanks for another great show . . . Sunday evenings just wouldn't be the same without ya!
