Hello, Ken, commenters...and pierre! Long time no see! Missed you my Ken's Playlist Listener Comments friend.
  9:05am still b/p:

Meaty Beaty Big and Batty! Good morning.
  9:08am pierre:

Pardon fofo, my always creatively-own-name-spelling-comment-friend, i sometimes have difficulties tuning in. But each time i'm here i'm trying to be 100%.

Great to see you here.
  9:08am Ken:

Hi everybody!
  9:10am Aaron in Minneapolis:

Hey Mr. Overlord!
  9:11am Jeezy:

Hi Ken & everybody! I'm just sitting here enjoying my 40's!
:-)
  9:11am pierre:

(funny Melvin Van Peebles, seemed to have appear a lot in my life lately, on Nat Roe's show this morning, in a magazine that i've read, on Ken's show… cool)
  9:12am Dan B From Upstate:

I'm still laughing at the home depot stuff from last week. That's the stuff of legend.
  9:12am still b/p:

Feelin' the wub.
  9:12am f0f0 (:

C'est cool! Oh, man! You missed the entire Home Depo Epic Saga last week.
  9:13am Ken:

Home Depot did a good job with the carpet in here. Is beautiful. Except they forgot to reattach the doors.
  9:14am Neg-guh-tor:

mornin' Ken! I have that weird Batman record Sun Ra made and the Mario Van Peebles record! Good stuff, indeed. Oh, I will have the Sun Ra mix too since I pledged to your show last weekend!
  9:16am Aldous:

Forgot reattachment in which area....The Doors of Reception?
  9:16am BW:

its too early for porn for the blind - I am at home because the plumber is here.. I'm tryin to turn him on to WFMU man, and now hes looking uncomfortable
  9:16am pierre:

oh… yeah…
i've (kinda) heard that there were some "bricolage" goin' on at the station, was that while Ken was on? I'll drown myself into this home depot archive…
  9:18am pierre:

(let's make BW's plumber even more uncomfortable with Tonetta - that is an example…) :-)
  9:18am still b/p:

For me, that Sabbath song/sound is forever associated with 8 track playback.
  9:19am Ken:

ZIt's never to early for Porn for the Blind! Just like it's never too early TO MAKE A STEALTH PLEDGE. Hint Hint.
  9:21am f0f0 (:

BW,

Play some Porn for the Bling to the plumber and you'll soon turn him ON!
  9:23am pierre:

speaking of pledges, dear radio station manager (and sorry you must have explained this tons of times, if time could be weigh) but can i (for example) pledge the equivalent of 50€ (and get the fantastic new fmu t shirt) trough 5 different shows?
  9:24am f0f0 (:

pierre,

Yes, it was some sort of carpet-bricolage. And I think Ken's intervention made a HomeDepoGuy-Music-Carpet tri-collage.
  9:24am 95% dc pat:

never too early for X either...
  9:25am Ken:

Pierre, the answer is YES YES YES, a thousand times YES! Sorry, Oui.

  9:29am Dan B From Upstate:

  9:29am pierre:

  9:29am Cheri Pi:

I could go for a pizza right about now...
  9:30am BW:

he's so uncomfortable.. but i refuse to turn the music off!
  9:30am BSI:

Okay, so I'm doing great on the beard scale, but I don't see my guitar on the other one. So this means I don't exist. I think.
......good morning, btw...
  9:32am 95% dc pat:

I'm not on the beard chart though I do have face hair. on the guitar chart, I'm Girlfriend Stealer and St. Stephen. My other 2 guits aren't on there.

  9:40am pierre:

i don't know the man, but i love the music dc pat : agreeing w/ you here
  9:41am Language police:

Ken, I think the Dave Pike track is spelled "Mathar" (rather than "Nathar").
  9:41am f0f0 (:

To comply with the Indian Theory you guys at America should listen to some good ol' tunes from elephants, snakes and cuckoos.

  9:56am Mark:

Ken, what percentage of the WFMU tweets are tweeted by you ?
  9:56am Cecile:

DUDE! Excitement outside my work.
Three cop cars and two bike police.
There was a big fight at the bus stop that I just missed.
(Empathy goes out the door when there's a good bus stop fight that I'm not near).
I asked the cops "What's up? Looks like America's Most Wanted out here!"
It was a fight between two teens. Later I learned there were guns drawn, which will freak me out later once I'm over my cop car rush. (Yes, I am four years old sometimes.)
  9:57am 100% dc pat:

ooo! How about Mambo Kurt doing Waiting Room?
  9:57am Ken:

  9:57am Michele:

Fantastic show so far Ken!
  9:58am Cecile:

Is there audio of St. Vincent doing Big Black's Kerosene anywhere?
  9:58am Dan B From Upstate:

Cecile, your story's setup sounds like the setup of an eighteen minute thanksgiving themed song.
  9:58am Cecile:

ccccccccccccccccccccccop cars........
  10:00am still b/p:

Bad boys, bad boys,,,

Whatcha gonna wit da bus stop crew?
  10:00am Cecile:

  10:01am Cecile:

Ooooh, Todd Tamanend Clark's "We're Not Safe" would go great here.

  10:01am Stevel:

Oooohh, Kim Fowley. Just finished reading "We Got the Neutron Bomb", LA punk oral history. Creepy SOB.
  10:02am f0f0 (:

100% dc pat,

Oh, wow! I'm dowloading that song right now from the WFMU blog! Can't wait to listen it!
  10:02am Ken:

OK, here is my announcement. WFMU just lost $85,000 a year in annual revenue as our tenant has gone out of business. Bad news: loss of a huge chunk of revenue. Good news: if we can raise enough money, we can have a new performance studio that the public can come to, like WNYC's Green Space.
  10:04am Cecile:

Yeah, Stevel. Very creepy guy.
That's a great book, but everyone is so bitter. More bitter than Please Kill Me. The level of hate from a lot of people toward hardcore & LA Punk in the day made the Disco Sucks movement look mild.
  10:04am f0f0 (:

dc pat,

hilarious...definitely should be played in here sometime. Ken-fits perfectly!
  10:05am Cecile:

Until articles got out defending the scene and talking to kids who were into punk in LA, people (even myself) were scared shitless.
  10:06am holland oats:

the full length version of this kim fowley tune is also really good
  10:09am Cecile:

Great album. Great tune.
  10:09am 100% dc pat:

yeah, Mambo Kurt is excellent.

Kim Fowley sounds just like Rollins sometimes..
  10:13am Bad Ronald:

Wow, that sucks Ken, I hope you make lemonade outta those lemons. A new performance space would definitely rock and is a great cause!
  10:13am 100% dc pat:

bad news Ken but maybe it's the start of a whole new FMU chapter....
  10:17am Cecile:

OK I pledged a tiny bit more. This is bad news.

You should just open a bar below WFMU. A bar/record store.
  10:18am Vivian:

Any news about future broadcasts of I'm Worth It, Ken?
  10:18am Jeezy:

Crap. What exactly was the announcement? My son is home sick and requires very low radio while reading!
  10:19am Marmalade Kitty:

good idea!
  10:19am Lizardner Dave:

Any chance of setting up an everyday equivalent of the WFMU table at the record fair in the space staffed by volunteers until someone else rents the space?
  10:19am f0f0 (:

Jeezy,

There's a hot new property available to let in NJ.
  10:20am Sam:

There is no way that Marillyn Manson has sex 11 times a day ON AVERAGE! No friggin way.
  10:21am Mark:

according to the WFMU website Nardwuar interviews Kreayshawn tonight
  10:21am Marmalade Kitty:

I don't know the wfmu building at all, but a wfmu record/bar sounds cool..!
  10:22am Silvio Berlusconi:

@ Sam: Trust me. It's achievable.
  10:23am Ken:

The announcement was that our long-time tenant has gone out of business and we are out 85 grand a year. either we rise to the occasion and take over the space ourselves or we are seriously screwed. Help us rise to the occasion by making a pledge up there to the left. It's kinda serious now.
  10:24am Cecile:

I did.
  10:24am Ken:

Vivian - I'm Worth It is on again this Friday at 7:30. They were dying for calls last week, so call them this Friday!
  10:27am pierre:

BW's plumber !!! come back this is for you !!!
  10:28am f0f0 (:

Could you imagine having a commercial radio station in that emptied space in the WFMU building? Such a mix could possible neutralise the entire radio signal in the galaxy.
  10:29am Mark:

whoever Kreayshawn is
  10:30am Sam:

What am I worth??
I'm worth IT!
That's Frangry's answer to Tonetta.
  10:30am Cecile:

isn't she the girl from Die Antwood?
  10:36am new space:

Maybe open something like cake shop – coffee shop / record and book store, live venue / bar.
  10:36am f0f0 (:

<-- That guy looks is doing an abstract bar flair dance.
  10:38am 100% dc pat:

die AntWORT? the most overrated group on Earth?
  10:38am Sam:

Why not open a strip club? That would go well with FMU and it might attract some good new DJs. You could get Stevie Van Zandt to help run it.
  10:38am seang:

perhaps a barber shop
  10:38am Mark:

record and book stores are dieing business models
  10:38am moose:

if there was good coffee over there i'd go every morning, as long as the station is on
  10:39am Cecile:

I guess, dcp. i heard a couple of their songs, they were a'ight.

Yesh, Mark, but the people who still go to them are "FMU fans.
  10:39am moose:

strip club good too, as long as the station is on
  10:40am Ken:

I agree with Mark. Sam's idea is great but we'd never get the zoning. Commercial station would need more than 2500 s.f. And DC Pat, Die Antwoord are amazing! Now you shall suffer.
  10:40am moose:

i mean while they're stripping of course
  10:40am Dan B From Upstate:

It seems weird, but I can picture girls, uh... dancing to this song.
  10:40am at The Naughty Bean:

Bare-istas.
  10:40am Lizardner Dave:

@Mark - as a temporary fix any incremental revenue would be a good thing and it would work since the rent cost is $0, the labor costs (assuming they could get volunteers) is $0 and what would be sold are records donated to the station (inventory cost $0).
  10:41am Cecile:

There's a great interview in an old Bananafish where Barbara Manning, who was desperate for a job, ended up auditioning to a Wire song. She didn't get the job. :D
  10:41am Jeezy:

Oy Vey.
  10:41am 100% dc pat:

Ho, jeeze. Well, I didn't think much after all the hoopla.

just open a funeral parlor..
  10:41am Cecile:

auditioning at a strip club, I mean. Urrrr
  10:42am Dan B From Upstate:

Good call, DC Pat. People will be dying to get in.
  10:44am f0f0 (:

100% dc pat,

I think Die Antwort is a concept, not a band, but an artist joke. So yeah, perhaps it's overrated because of this?
  10:45am Ken:

Damn. My favorite Die Antwoord song is too filthy to play. You win this time DC Pat!
  10:47am Mark:

yeah the mortuary business is recession proff
  10:48am 100% dc pat:

YES! 1 - nil,

Mark, that's what I was thinking. How about combo strip club/funeral parlor?
  10:49am Sam:

Wunda wunda wunda wunda wunda wunda wunderbar!
  10:50am G:

Actually, I read last week that the funeral services business is significantly off, because their customers are saying no to more and more amenities to save some bucks.
  10:50am Carmichael:

As long as FMU doesn't play the annoying stripper dance music all day. Thump Thump Thump.
Good morning intertubers.
  10:50am Ken:

Who would be the caretaker at our funeral parlor? Steve Buscemi is otherwise employed.
  10:50am Danimal:

And Some Gravy Fries!
  10:50am f0f0 (:

Didn't you guys noticed the infographic Ken just posted? Pizza all the way! I can even imaging myself tasting the Kenchovie one.
  10:51am still b/p:

Booty Hill?
  10:51am Lizardner Dave:

Stringer Bell?
  10:51am Sam:

Get Mark Twain to run the funeral parlor. He's 170 years old or something, he'd be perfect.
  10:51am Skirkie:

I know a guy in Hoboken who looks just like Steve Buscemi. I call him "Fake Steve Buscemi."
  10:51am Ken:

Pizza and Mango Smoothies I think.
  10:52am Mark:

Stringer Bell was killed, or at least the character was
  10:52am Jenniqua:

Die Antwoord's Ninja was spotted down at Occupy Wall Street...
  10:52am Carmichael:

Ken, how about that tall freaky guy from Twin Peaks? Or that tall freaky guy from the movie Phantasm? Just get a tall freaky guy, and all will be right with the world.
  10:53am 100% dc pat:

oh man funeral parlor caretaker has GOT to be Bryce
  10:53am Ken:

Check out Jeffrey lewis namechecking WFMU on the next song....
  10:54am seang:

like Tom Noonan
  10:55am pgw in mntclr:

you had me at "Jeffrey Lewis"
  10:55am f0f0 (:

Sam,

Talking about the funeral parlour...WFMU could invite famous death people as guests? I bet no funeral biz has thought about this awesome publicity stunt.
  10:56am Dan B From Upstate:

Andy could have the psychic channel famous dead people! Imagine! You could have President Taft attend your funeral!
  10:58am still b/p:

Haggis & Fugu...good name for a musical duo.
  11:00am triish:

Funeral home + music ?
  11:01am Ken:

I told you that Big Sausage Pizza had been made into a gif. Dont say I didn't warn ya!
  11:06am Sam:

Yeah, you guys never followed up on that talking to Dennis Hopper - you said you were going to start interviewing lots of dead people. I think that would be really really cool.
  11:09am Carmichael:

Ooooooowwwwwwwww ........ Ow Ow Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww .....................
  11:10am Luke:

Ken, I don't hate you, I just like cats.
  11:16am Lizardner Dave:

This is not coming through over my dog-free Internet.
  11:19am Sean Daily:

Ken, what was the name of that Spa'ce Junko (sp?) song again?
  11:19am Ken:

Thanks to all of you who have already pledged - for those of you who havent pledged yet - help push that thing to 20% today - this is my 2nd of 4 shows so I'm really behind, as is the entire station which is only 1/4th of the way in. Our fancy new pledge thingy lets you pledge to many different shows at once.
  11:22am Cecile:

Heh. You should play Dr. Bootygrabber by the DET Grand Pubahs...
  11:22am Ken:

I feel really patheric sitting here, hitting refresh over and over again waiting to see the 16% change to 17%....
  11:24am Cecile:

YES.
  11:24am Cecile:

I was very disappointed that the Sandwich King on Food TV doesn't use this song as his theme.
  11:31am still b/p:

PM labeled as JL in the loveable boys gallery. A worth-millions typo glitch!!!!
  11:31am osvi:

God or The Dark Lord bless you, Ken.
  11:34am das:

Is there anything we should know about that Pizza hut painting?
  11:35am Dan B From Upstate:

Is that the origin of the big sausage pizza?
  11:36am Ken:

Yes Das. That is WFMU's future if we fall short of our goal this month. Pizza Hut on the ground floor, me naked, and a giant Inflateable Jesus to make ends meet. You know what to do.
  11:36am Carmichael:

Is that a young and naked Charles Bronson in the Pizza Hut draw-ring?
  11:38am das:

If you reach your goal can you reenact this? That's better than crummy old cds and t-shirts!
  11:39am ex-Congressman Weiner:

Can I play the guy in the parking lot?
  11:40am listener james from westwood:

Vaguely related to Big Sausage Pizza: Blackboards in Porn, dedicated to the equations on the blackboards in teacher-fetish gonzo porn (they say mostly SFW, but caveat emptor: http://blackboardsinporn.blogspot.com/)
  11:40am Stevel:

Question: Ken naked in the lot=revenue source or stress casualty?
  11:41am Michael:

I love the Porn for the BLind cut, except for two things:
0.) "http:" is followed by '/' chars, which character is pronounced "slash".
1.) Valid URIs cannot include commas; semicolons are allowed, and some browsers do the necessary escaping of commas to "%2C".
2.) Needs more cowgirl.
  11:44am Ken:

Yes! If I hit my goal by the end of October, I will remake Big Sausage Pizza with the WFMU staff. And there will be lots of reverse cowgirl.
  11:45am Lowell:

Ken- I love your show!
  11:45am listener james from westwood:

Possible use for the 1st floor space: Gonzo porn studio. Imagine the series. "Girls of the Gold Coast." "Goldman Sucks." "Paulus Hookers."
  11:45am J J:

That song was fun. Can't believe they've remade The Thing again.
  11:46am f0f0 (:

Context. That's what that Pizza Hut painting needs.
  11:50am f0f0 (:

Talking about inflatable Jesus and related stuff...Did you guys heard that Harold Camping is again predicting the end of the world this October 21st?
  11:51am Brian in UK:

Inflatable cheeses. Wow.
  11:52am Carmichael:

I hope you're not trolling for a corporate sponsor.
  11:53am American Diabetic Association:

Corn weenies and scotcheroos are notoriously high-carb. Duh.
  11:58am Ken:

I hope we dont have to Carmichael. But we're only at 25% of the goal, and that goal was made BEFORE we lost 85 grand a year.
  11:58am f0f0 (:

Thanks, Ken! Loved today's show! See you next episode everybody!
  11:59am das:

Is this the new Lou Reed/Metallica?
  11:59am alberto:

ken's show is the real "best show" on fmu!
  12:00pm Ken:

Bye everybody. Special thanks to those of you who pledged!

People donate! I don't want to hear "Today's Ken Show Tribute to Mariah Carey was brought to you by the WFMU-Pizza Hut© alliance" any time soon.
