A viking ship appears on the horizon, a likeness of Alice Coltrane carved into its bow. Rare birds flock together to sing Francoise Hardy as soul hits. A sunset of blips and bleeps fills the air.

I've been going to Far Hills since childhood. Unfortunately it's gotten much pricier than the old days. I won't bother making the trip this time. Totally a case of "it used to be cooler before everyone knew about it," but a true case of that phenom.

  11:24am
Adrian in London:

@Brian in UK I saw it at the weekend and frankly, John Grant was a class apart. I'm biaised because I love his voice so much but Toussaint was clearly genuinely impressed with him. James Dean Bradfield from the Manics did his best but was the valley between two peaks.

Richard:

That Leyland Kirby track was lovely. Couldn't find it on Spotify though...
  11:32am
Brian in UK:

Adrian Mr Grant does have a wonderful baritone. I bought his record, good tunes albeit a little self pitying. I'll have to watch it.
  11:33am
maja:

Hi Trouble,
joining you for the last half hour, one big hurray for the archives!
beautiful these piano dreams
  11:35am
trouble:

good day maja!
  11:36am
trouble:

leyland kirby is also "the caretaker"...
  11:44am
Adrian in London:

@Brian in UK I can see that but, to be fair, Grant does have much to be self-pitying about. But if you see him live he's really funny. He was great with MIdllake at the Festival Hall a couple of weeks ago.
  11:45am
Jennique:

Just checkin' in Madame Troublette! Great show as always.
  11:47am
90% dc pat:

this kellies tune is excellent!
  11:48am
trouble:

hey jennique! merci merci
  11:49am
Brian in UK:

Adrian you are right. He does seem to be one of those artists that are more popular over here than in his homeland. We are going to the Green Note in Camden on Thursday to see Eric Taylor.
  11:52am
Brian in UK:

Adrian PS liked Hong Kong in the 60s. I'm really enjoying Cults new album right now. Good pop is priceless.
  11:53am
Adrian in London:

@Brian in UK His US tour got cancelled cos of poor ticket sales. A friend saw him lay in a club in Vancouver and was one of 14 people. At one point a woman went to the loo and he said: "Shall I just wait til she comes back?'
  11:56am
Brian in UK:

That's sad. He's on Bella Union over here so I guess he gets good cover. We must have good taste!!!
  11:57am
trouble:
