You see a blanket on the ground. It's your favorite color, smooth and soft. You can sit on it, or lie on it. It's a flying blanket, and you are the pilot. You are in control. You can fly anywhere you wish, just by thinking about it. You are the pilot.

Mon. 9/12/11 10:15pm Paul Lynde (Center Square):

Heeellloooo! Cahraahhhzeeeee Stuff!
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:28pm T-Zero:

This Bohren & Der Club of Gore is right up my alley. Love this type of sound.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:30pm Dan B:

@T-Zero, so languid, right? You can just drift along in there.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:33pm T-Zero:

Very languid, but what I like is the ambient blueness of an old whiskey bar lounge singer. If you know what I mean.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:34pm Dan B:

@T-Zero, exactly yes, I was thinking there are Coil tunes and Lydia Lunch tunes that traverse that terrain too.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:36pm T-Zero:

Embarrassed to say I don't know either one of them. (Heh, I've lead *such* a sheltered life.)
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:41pm T-Zero:

Coil's name I recognize, and probably heard them without knowing what I was listening to.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:41pm fleep:

Dynamite Hallock Hill, the touches of Rota in there
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:42pm T-Zero:

Hey! Thanks for playing Coil. You're right. I do like this.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:42pm fleep:

Oh, the Rota is Coil, sorry
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:45pm T-Zero:

Tuxedomoon, which I also love, travels this terrain too.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:46pm Rachel Malheure:

@Dan:you like ape of naples best, don't you:)
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:51pm Dan B:

@Rachael, actually, I love the Music to Play in the Dark CDs best. But Ape of Naples does have some fine moments. My all time favorite Coil song is "Batwings (A Liminal Hymn)" from Musick to Play in the Dark II
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:51pm T-Zero:

Wow. I can't believe I never heard Lydia Lunch before.
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:51pm blackgreen:

hi Dan, liking this
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:52pm EzSezz:

More info on this LL and Anubian Knights track please
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:54pm Christine:

Whoa, Dan....you're playing my old band!
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:54pm Dan B:

More info on Lydia Lunch and the Anubian Knights here: http://www.fromthearchives.com/ll/discography16.html
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:55pm Dan B:

@Christine, yeh, and it's great! Wait, *old* band? What happened?
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:55pm Dan B:

@Christine, and what's the name of that tune?
  Mon. 9/12/11 10:58pm mordred:

Very "Street Of Crocodiles"..
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:00pm Christine:

Our fearless leader quit....and damn if I can remember off-hand the name of that one. I'll do some research :) But the bass player, drummer & I are still together--we're Stars Bars and Mars now.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:14pm Christine:

dude....! nice mixing!!
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:16pm Dan B:

@Christine, cool, glad you guys are still active in another form...
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:17pm Christine:

ha! It was me and my itunes mixing with you....I'm such a spazz
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:18pm Tom Miller:

damn fine show
Mon. 9/12/11 11:23pm Ye Olde Interwebs:

Dan wondered on mic about the origin of "May the Fleas of a Thousand Camels Infest Your Armpits." I seem to recall it as one of the comedic insults always employed in Johnny Carson's "Karnak the Magnificent" skits in the 60s and 70s of the last century.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:25pm Christine:

Thanks for your support, Dan...it means a lot coming from a guy with such great taste! And we just did a soundtrack for this film that going to be shown at the New York Film Festival http://www.filmlinc.com/pages/15-scenes-254-shots I'm really excited.
(and I thought it was supercool that you played Coil & Lydia for your listener...)
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:25pm Dan B:

@YOI, that sounds right
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:30pm Dan B:

@Christine, cool on the soundtrack!
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:31pm T-Zero:

@Christine: I thought so too. :) That's just another of the great things about WFMU.
Mon. 9/12/11 11:31pm Richard from Venezuela:

Dan, thanks for the Deerhoof link on twitter. A great find.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:35pm Rachel Malheure:

grrr - i will miss his concert in ny as well as in berlin:(
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:37pm dave:

short shameful confession: every single time i hear the beginning of this jozef van wissem song, i think it's going to be the taken by trees cover of "sweet child o' mine". every. single. time. i have no idea why.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:38pm Dan B:

@Dave, that is my favorite confession ever.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:41pm dave:

they don't even sound anything alike! i don't know what my PROBLEM is! i have some sort of DISEASE.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:42pm dave:

this might just cure it, though.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:43pm 12539:

I wonder if this will inspire a mashup.
Mon. 9/12/11 11:45pm Richard from Venezuela:

hahahahaha, so good. Pushing forward dave's music analogies.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:46pm dave:

if it did inspire a mashup, i could shuffle off this mortal coil knowing my time here was not wasted.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:46pm dave:

!semoc ehs ereh huhhhhhhhhhho
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:48pm Christine:

watch out dave! Dan might mash this up with This Mortal Coil
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:49pm 12539:

Silly me, I thought this one was on the ACR label.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:51pm dave:

this oneida track's a much-needed palate-cleanser.
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:52pm Dan B:

@Christine, actually, I seriously considered it!
  Mon. 9/12/11 11:54pm dave:

there are bits of 'filigree and shadow' that backwards hall and oates would probably go pretty well with.
  Tue. 9/13/11 12:01am matt:

hshahah record ded
Tue. 9/13/11 12:02am andaloudog in DC:

you smashed my maneater. uh.
  Tue. 9/13/11 12:02am TheWellOfSongs:

It's just s moment of bizarre.
