cb1:

What a great show!
Today, while listening to 9/11 coverage on our local NPR station, WFMU suddenly came on for about a half hour (we can't get fmu over the airwaves here!). We heard some great gospel and then it reverted to wjff. Just so weird, but wonderful. What could it mean - no wise cracks, please!
  7:50pm
monica:

hi there, don. yes, you're right about that....hellbilly 13, you got it! great album...bye, cheri....cb1, wfmu has a weird way of creeping in and out...
  7:52pm
Tir Chonaill Abu:

Hi Monica and everyone else who is a devotee of this fine station. Hope all is well and meant to say thanks for playing one of my fave songs "Just Walkin' In The Rain" by the Prisonaires a few weeks back.
  7:53pm
cb1:

You know, about 5 seconds into the "moment of silence" the npr announcer said, "This is the moment of silence." Oh...
  7:55pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

sing it sing it sing it sing it ...... back ! ! ! ! \:D/\:D/\:D/
  7:56pm
dale:

i used to get the 90.1 signal driving up the taconic by hudson ny in one teeny spot. must be fm skip or something. summer thunderstorms will have fuv fading out to a midwest christian station. those people always have a way of taking over.
  7:58pm
cb1:

Hey, hey, you doin' fine1
  8:00pm
dale:

cb1, you can't get mount hope signal in jeffersonville?
  8:03pm
monica:

Hi Tir Chonaill Abu. Yes, good point. There's been so much... And yes, Prisonaires are swell and thank you....CB1, there are SO many moments of silence here you can't keep count. we just don't make a big deal about it... sing it to you, tom!... dale, there should be a blog post about all the funky frequency issues our listeners experience...thanks, cb1!
  8:04pm
Don (trip dub):

Love those Spyders from mars. "C'mon, now"
  8:06pm
Lani and Uma in the Catskills:

Monica >> you goin' weird n' wonder full again. thanks lady.
  8:06pm
cb1:

Dale,
We get Jeffersonville, but it's about a half hour away. Never got fmu here before and didn't touch the radio - the call letters are close though.
  8:07pm
Julie:

Funky Frequency Issues...that's it I'm stealing that name for a blog
  8:08pm
dale:

90.1 is a bit away from 90.5. maybe alignment of radio is off. i have an old proton that i have to tune to 90.3 to get fmu
  8:09pm
Julie:

It's great going shopping in your own CD collection :)
  8:10pm
dale:

funny- the proton was a $15 jeffersonville church sale find.
  8:10pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

... that sounds like my place Monica.... 1/5 of my 3 room flat hehe ... !
  8:11pm
Kenzo:

I just cleared away many shoeboxes of CD's for a move. Couldn't get rid of any of the tapes, though!
  8:12pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):

.... what's really amazing is the cds that I do have that are like mint... over 20 years old that I maybe played once or 2x or not even opened . just took off the shrink wrap.. and most are worth next to nothing . lol.. if it was Vinyl would be the other way around . go figure ...
  8:14pm
cb1:

Von Kleinsmid?
  8:14pm
Tir Chonaill Abu:

I'm writing I'm writing it down. Today is my day. Know that I know that this is great stuff. What a great clip. And remember light that phone up.
  8:15pm
Julie:

I have had boxes of CD's on my floor for like a year...a bunch are going to PREX but still keeping wayyy too many. I haven't even started on the vinyl yet!
  8:15pm
Maggie in Rock Tavern:

woah, hey back at you Dale in New Hampton!
  8:17pm
G:

I get a lot of weightless music off other people's castoff CDs. I buy them used and burn them to wavs and mps3 or the like. So many people these deays are dumping used CDs in favor of itunes etc. that you can often get a used CD of a given album for way less than the cost of the download, even when you have to pay shipping for the used CD. So it goes...
  8:23pm
monica:

yes, spyders cool don... Lani and Uma in the Catskills! how you mountain gals doin?... go for it, julie! and yes, like shoppin' yer closet...tom, there must be a support group for folks like us!... and you too, kenzo!... cb1, yes... tir, aren't those great airchex?... maggie! ....G, you got it WAY more together than me for sure...
  8:23pm
Julie:

Am I gonna have to cha cha slide alone now?
  8:23pm

  8:25pm
texas scott:

  8:34pm

None of us has it very together other than in isolated pockets here and there. After all, the story always ends with a funeral service of some sort.

Thanks for cheering us up, G...
  8:35pm
Don (trip dub):

"Kite" by the Sherman Bros., I believe.
  8:41pm
CB2:

Just got in and only had one half hour of the show and what a half hour.
CB1 didn't remember but it was "Crossroads" and you know I was swinging - it was at least an hour of the best gospel - want to find out the fusion country gospel Jesus is coming back.

Can't wait to hear your finale.
  8:42pm

  8:59pm
G:

Wikipedia: On the day "My Blue Heaven" was to be recorded, after takes of the other songs had been completed, to Austin's surprise the musicians packed up and left the studio; Shilkret told Austin they had a conflict, but in a scene documented by H. Allen Smith in his A Short History of Fingers, Austin "grabbed an old guy with a cello and talked him into standing by. Then [he] grabbed a song plugger who could play pretty fair piano. And the third fellow [he] got was an agent who could whistle – bird calls and that sort of thing."[10] Austin recorded "My Blue Heaven" with that hastily assembled trio.... It sold 5 million copies in 1928 in Austin's version, and was inducted into the Grammay Hall of Fame in 1978.
  9:00pm
Tom ( The Bactrian Support Network ):
